Wow… I am pleasantly surprised to see this here
I am the Sandboxr app developer. If ANet really wanted to partner with us to use us for their 3D printing, that would be amazing. We would even set up a custom API with them to make it easier for the players to print them. I would probably end up getting back in the game (especially if they permanently remove the culling in WvW). I actually commissioned someone to paint a portrait of my Asura Necro character, I loved her so much. Would be awesome to actually print a character, especially with the software I have made =D .
I have no idea who posted this, but thank you <3
Broken on Darkhaven as well…
Also, Gerrvid is dead can’t be revived… unless you are a thief with shadow refuge, which will slowly heal him while he is dead… He pops up, and tells us to kill the boss… but we can’t…
Not sure if this has been posted yet, or if this is even a bug and there is some hidden way of beating it, but the boss is permanently invulnerable, and Gerrvid can’t be revived… unless you are a thief with shadow refuge, which will slowly heal him while he is dead… He pops up, and tells us to kill the boss… but we can’t…
Is this a bug, or is there something we need to do to uninvulnerable the boss?
I would rather them decrease the drop rate of the chests, as I get them almost as much as I whites. I get yellows less often than I get chests.
However, I agree that if they dropped the prices of the keys, I am betting more people would buy them.
No game company besides Valve has gotten micro transactions correct. Valve has about 40+% buying stuff for real money, while most other games have 5% ish.
That is right ANet. Give us hats, and we will spend our money! (Of course, they would have to be the transmutation thing, so you can put the look of your hat with the stats).

DoctorWhy kind of agrees with Daish, even though DoctorWhy isn’t a commander.
Why must we talk in 3rd person?
Rangers are the thing I am least scared of… as any class. Even my necro can fight a ranger pretty well. The problem I have with Rangers is their invinsible pets always being sent in first, so if you have any coordination as a zerg, the rangers send their pets in first to waste any AOE, including all of the necros staff attacks. It really annoys me. But not as much as a thief being able to melt through my 2.5 bars of health in less than 5 seconds, even with toughness stacked on my armor.
I use to pay $10 for 9 holes, but the market right now just isn’t worth spending the money for so little holes.
Thief, Mesmer, and whatever that class was (Guardian or warrior I think) that has the ability to heal completely. Hell… being a necro makes every class harder to deal with…
I have never faced a Ele 1v1, but we will see how that goes…
Maybe 100000000000000? Or simply having a dev answer would be nice…
Time to go hit some chickens…
My impression was that they would skip today’s patch to focus on the Halloween event.
I will murder some chickens (or try and have a flock of “angry chickens” attack me, and I can only do 1 damage to) if they do this…
What is funny is that not only does the Lich Form look like the staff attack, it IS the staff attack. I got 1000 staff kills with it, and I rarely use staffs.
Here is to hoping they fix the ACTUAL problem with plague signet (and fix the problem they created with their last “fix” on it).
Is Training of the Master trait not working for anyone else?

Half the necro traits don’t work, so no surprise here…
Even runescape has a preventive measure against this… I was always woundering why some people would just disappear… I know thieves have the ability to go invisible, but I noticed other classes disappearing as well. Confused me. Now I understand. This thread is a little exaggerated, but it is still a problem.
I think it would both be easier and better for them to simply run a script across their database to remove and refund all buy orders below the vender price… no need to go through the complicated steps you think they need to.
I am with you, and so are a lot of other players. The necro forum, as it is right now, will not tell you to play a different class. We will simply tell you that we agree, hopefully they will be improved/fixed soon, and try a different build when doing non-PvE. That is all we can really say as of this moment.
@DoctorWhy:
Well, it’s all based on anecdotal evidence though.
I’ve played on sPvp hot-join (currently rank 34). With my Necro, I’ve never lost to any thief 1v1 (or any other classes 1v1 except when Moa’d by a Mesmer). On my Thief, I’ve never lost to any Necro 1 v 1. On my Elementalist D/D build, I’ve never lost to any Necro or Thief 1v1. That says a lot about the build and play-ability of most people IMO.
I just think it’s frustrating to see people complain that Necro loses to all classes and have these people ignore the advice that others give (or maybe they can’t use the advice to its potential?). And if these people claim to be a master of the Necro, then they should be able to come up with an opponent’s build that will beat any Necro build.
I’ll say it again… I suck at necro. Never claimed to be even good. But my point isn’t that another class can beat out the necro, but that the necro is over shadowed by other classes, because the necro has nothing more they can add to a group that one class or another does better.
I want bug fixes, and a fix to the toughness trait line. Balancing can wait until after.
But this will take at least 3+ months, even knocking 10-15 bugs out a week.
BlueprintLFE: The post about the necro that everyone is annoyed about wasn’t even on this forum. It was in PvP. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/I-play-a-necro-but-I-traid-a-warrior-for-one-play-session/page/2#post116878
I don’t think there was any dev talk in this forum, besides a thank you for the bug list. Could be the same for other classes as well, but my point still stands. Communication. People will calm down a bit if you communicate. You don’t even have to read ANY threads that come up. Instead, just post their own. But that is apparently too much to ask from ANet.
Stormy: My roomie plays a thief in PvP. He has not once fallen from a necro 1v1. Ever… So… just play a thief moderately well, and you beat necros? I even saw a moderately intense battle with a necro, and my roomie ended up stomping him in the end pretty hard.
I suck, so my own personal experience in WvW is not what I am annoyed at in the balance. But watching other classes, it really annoys me that they have such an easy time compared to me. But I am stubborn and play the first class I chose because I want to like it. I see the potential, but it is impossible to reach until they fix the bugs, and hopefully not end up nerfing us because DS is too strong in only a few players hands
One more thing… Guardian has amazing condition/boon control as well (if not better), so we are not better than them at it…

I agree in the sense that we don’t need to be alienating anyone.
That said, aside from one thread (most of which was informative, but it did start off with a l2p), our dev has been quiet, very quiet.
I’d the silent too, at least for the time being. Until more of the bugs are fixed I don’t see there being any decent discussion beyond calls for bug fixes (which honestly is stupid, unless you think ANet is just going to ignore the bugs). Once they sort that out and we actually start getting into how and why the class works then I hope we see more active dev discussion.
I would appreciate acknowledgements on bugs that are caused by updates. Not only so we know they notice, but also because, such as the plague signet this time around, if the current situation with it was intended (you now have to target something), or if it was a bug. I would also greatly appreciate a “These are the types of bugs we are trying to fix first” type of post, because they seem to just be fixing bugs that may not be as major as others (Again, the plague signet bug they fixed isn’t the major bug that should have been fixed with the plague signet, so a little feedback on what they are thinking would help).
As a software developer myself, I do this much for my users, and I am working on projects alone…
Lich Form can do some awesome DD. Couple that with the Mesmer speed bubble thingy, and you can kitten But, it has a somewhat long cooldown, so it isn’t reliable 100% of the time. Other than that, anything else can pretty much out DD us.
The problem I have with the design is that they are building a class around 1 powerful aspect, therefor, as has been mentioned before, it will turn out EXACTLY like what happened with the Guardians (or whatever they are called in WoW), with the invulnerability for a few seconds. Guardians ended up getting nerfed to the point of unplayability. That is what I fear for our necro.
We haven’t gotten any feedback on this concern. If they expect us to respect them, they have to earn it, not ignore us. I do agree that direct attacks are wrong, but I would appreciate feedback on the state of the necro if they expect people to keep playing it with NO complaints.
Feedback or people will complain a lot more. That is the internet.
This is true for this forum. Check out the WvW forum. There use to be about 10 threads complaining about night capping each day. A dev just made a “This is why we do what we do” thread, and BAM! There are fewer and fewer threads complaining about it. Is that too much to ask here??
(edited by DoctorWhy.3847)
Alanis: What if I want to min-max? I am pretty sure ANet didn’t design the necro to avoid min-maxing, as all the other classes can.
Karther: “And just because we’re not the best at something does not make us not as useful.” Actually, that is exactly what it means. If you could get a better class when going through a dungeon, then you will avoid adding any lone necros. This has happened to me before, which is what made me realize this mess in the first place. 2 groups in a row told me they didn’t want a necro. Eventually found a group, but even so, it is really annoying to be discriminated on (using that term for this situation makes me laugh XD).
I never once said we were bad in WvW. I know there are (2) legit builds. However, I am saying that we are useless compared to what other classes can bring, because other classes can do EVERYTHING we can do, but better.
1. Engie does CC just as good, though I completely agree we do have a lot of really good CC.
2. Survivability? Guardians do it WAY better. Our health melts, even if you go into toughness (the useless and dangerous minor traits to use in WvW).
3. Again, support is done even better by an engie or mesmer
4. Yes, we do have lots of AOE damage if you go Well build. But only 1 single build does it actually work out. Until they speed up the staff projectile, the staff auto attack is useless to anyone who is paying attention.
5. DPS with dagger? Though it is our strongest weapon, dagger does not do near as much damage as I think it should, since you have to be right up in their face. But I still <3 the daggers.
Please pay attention to what I am trying to say instead of attacking me, and putting words in my mouth. I will clarify: We CAN be good, but other classes do everything better. What can we bring to the table, that other classes can’t?
(edited by DoctorWhy.3847)
Thieves only good in 1v1? The thief has an AOE bow that kitten large groups. I watched my roomy kill 1v3 easily. And I watch him down a kitten ton when they were attacking a wall. Whoever goes into WvW speced to fight only pic-offs is a bad thief (unless that is what they want to do).
Then people would use it as a second inventory. When your inventory is full, just put it up on the TP for ridiculous amounts of money. The listing fee is there for a reason.
Assuming the devs care about us at all. I would greatly appreciate a “Hey, we didn’t mean to do that” or “Ya, that was intentional, so deal with it”. Either one will at least let us know the devs care.
Sparda: Necromancer CAN be good, yes. But there are just 2 builds that work well, and other classes do them better: Condition and power/crit. We don’t have a single thing that is better than another class. So even if we can be “good”, we can’t be “great” at anything. That is our problem. We want the necro to be unique and fun to play. But with all the bugs and current balance/ANets blind faith in DS, necros are not as viable as other classes. I just want another class to be “Oh kitten, a necro. I am not sure if I can take them”. Right now, it is “Oh, a necro? Let me just quickly kill them. Oh, you went into DS… well, your damage is miniscule, and your health still melts, so oh well. Oh, you did a power build? I can still out DPS you and eat through both of your bars of health before you can eat through mine”. <—- Assuming a decent player with almost any other class.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my necro, and like her better than all the other classes I tried out, mainly because many games don’t have necros and I love the concept. I just want to feel as useful as a thief, guardian, mesmer, or engi does, in WvW and dungeons.
Merch: We don’t “here” other classes complaining because they don’t hit like wet noodles. Even if we have that extra bar of health, any other class can melt it (besides maybe an Engi, unless they spec right). ANet makes Necro weak purposefully, because we have this extra bar of health and weapon set. I would much rather them rework DS and make it so it seems more balanced, and we don’t melt like ice being hurled into the sun.
Nikko: That brings up a good point. Why are there no hybrids in this game? Are they just not able to multiply? Because you kitten well know they try.
Sundial: Not even close. Thieves and Mesmers still take the cake (especially Charr mesmers). We can be legit too, of course, but until they fix bugs and balance better, we have too many problems to be the “best”.
Let me first say that I think you are talking out of your kitten or playing with really bad players. I have created several other characters (everything but a ranger), and I can’t get tankier than my guardian she is not even min-maxed. Being able to put on 20 stacks of bleed is nothing, given that every class has a way to get rid of them, and thieves usually get 25 stacks on before I can get any (considering they always seem to initiate, because of their mobility). The point is not to put on a giant stack at once, but to be able to consistently put conditions on them so they have absolutely no way of getting rid of all of them. Condition engies are the scariest thing I have gone up against, and I generally use consume conditions and plague signet.
I don’t doubt you have a better necro build than me, but I have tried various builds that people say are viable here on the forum, yet my other characters can do one or the other better.
Your build probably works rather well for PvE, though.
These are better than some of the concept art. How good are you at drawing Asura?
Engies still do it better, so I feel it is just as useless as any other build. It may work better than most builds for our class, but still doesn’t work as well as even a decent Engi… (Also, try using signet of spite with that build. May work out for the better imo)
Lich Form can at least kick some kitten as long as you are not going 1v1 with a guardian (? these are the ones that can heal 100% health right), or mesmer that is very illusion heavy/uses that projectile blocking bubble/Moa (the anti necro). However, I haven’t gone against a mesmer since the nerf, so maybe it is easier now. Use all your bursts as fast as possible (maybe use DS to block their bursts, though I am still terabad at this), and then go into Lich Form and watch as their health drops.
Though I don’t feel as useful as any of my friends, I can at least cause some pain.
However, they broke our only good escape mechanism, so I am not sure how well I can do now.
Nothing looks better than the Abyss black and Celestial white dyes. If you are going to spend any money on dye at all, but all you want is Abyss and Celestial, I would just save up for them. (Celestial white looks amazing). I found both Silver and Ancient Silver within minutes of eachother. Though they look great if you are going for that look, Celestial white is still head over heels better =D
You now have to have someone targeted in order for it to work. Not sure if this is intended, but Plague signet use to be a great escape mechanism. Now, if you turn to run and they bind, limp, or freeze you (not sure about stun and fear though), and you are not facing anything, it won’t cast away your conditions. Extreme nurf if intended. Breaking it even more if not.
My question is why did they fix something about it that I didn’t even know was broken, and not fix the passive that is quite clearly broken???? Because it was too hard? Too bad ANet has a problem with telling us what is going on.
(edited by DoctorWhy.3847)
First I will say that bots, though an obvious problem, I rarely see very many of them compared to players actually playing. There are times, though, that my friends have reported bots that they still see in the same area farming today. I am not sure how ANet actually responds to bot reports, but sometimes they don’t at all. I seriously think ANet needs to be a little more open about the state of their game, instead of ignoring half the forums here.
That said, I am sure the bots are not the problem here. People have leveled up. You blame the game because you read the market wrong? You are the one who made the mistakes, not GW. You should have known that people were starting to get into the higher level areas, so you shouldn’t have boughten so much.
Sorry if this has been posted, but I didn’t see it.
BUG
The Lich Form attack counts as a staff attack. I realized it used the same projectile, and it also penetrated, but it does actually count as a staff attack. I rarely use staffs, but when I got a kill in Lich Form, I got the 1000 staff kills achievement. I am guessing this isn’t intentional, because it is just weird.
Someone who played a lot of GW1 warned me that ANet does this type of stuff. I was reluctant to beleive him, and thought that, if we gave ANet time, they would fix the bugs that are really hurting us. But I was wrong. Sure, they might fix the bugs eventually, but they will continue to nerf them as they do it. Making Necros even more unplayable.
Dear ArenaNet,
Thank you for fixing a bug. I use greater marks and appreciate it.
Best,
A VolcanoP.S.: See? It’s not so hard to be courteous is it?
Dear ArenaNet,
Thank you for fixing a skill most of us didn’t even know was broken. Oh, and thank you for breaking the one skill that, though the passive was already broken, could get me out of sticky situations since we are so squishy.
And thank you for fixing most of the mesmer. They had soooo many bugs, I am surprised you were able to fix most of them.
Best,
Doctor Why
PS. Thank you for nurfing pistil whip. Seriously. It could 1 shot a necro if the Thief speced into it (though they would be squishy too), and the necro didn’t spec into the useless toughness line. <3 (I am being serious on this one)
PSS. It is seriously hard to be thankful for ANet taking our money, and not caring about our class as much as others. Most of us wouldn’t be so butt hurt if they made a nice post of “here is where we are going with the necro, and this is why we only fixed 2 bugs”… But they don’t care…
kitten… are you kidding me? I really hope this is a bug because this would really break me if it wasn’t (not that plague signet was really working completely in the first place). Seriously… if I have to turn around to cast this on the enemy that is chasing me (and freezes, limps, binds, or stuns me… which is nearly EVERY enemy), then I am screwed. Especially as a Necro, where we are squishy as hell to begin with. Are they really meaning to take away the only escape mechanism we have????
Wow… we still have triple the amount of bugs as any other class (almost more than all of them combined) and they fix 2! Thank you ANet. At this rate, expect a fixed, and still greatly underpowered, necro in about 2 years!
Does she play (GW2) with you?
Could it be more expensive to run the severs in Europe? Probably. Would it cost them more than it is worth to set up a dynamic system based off the current currency exchange rate? Yes. So… There you go.
You say 1000 foul words, but kitten is the only foul word that exists, so good luck with that =P
What people are willing to pay for it. After all, if no one would buy something for 10s, the price will naturally lower really quickly. But if someone is willing to pay 15s for it, the price will naturally rise. (Of course, supply and demand plays a bigger role, but this still effects it). This is why prices can rise and people still buy a lot of it. I guess this is part of supply and demand. Even if people want it, if they are not willing to pay, but the supply is there, the price goes down until people start to buy.
(edited by DoctorWhy.3847)
People will ask for lower whether or not it is reliable or likely they will get that item. People will sell to lowest buyer when they are too lazy or “too cool” to play the market. But just because people are offering 10 less silver does not mean that item is suppose to be worth 10 less silver.
