Welcome to Las Vegas.
I agree with your post. It is sad sort of affairs to make people gamble.
We’ll never know their true intentions.
I welcome all comments as I don’t have the answers.
Thank you Raf.1078 & Mirta.5029 for you comments.
The idea is to build / bounce ideas from one another.
Lastly Mirta.5029 – The players running the dungeon would know if the leader was HC and hence either join or not join. It’s there choice.
Every place in this MMO looks like Singapore.
Too clean
It would be nice to add some grit, but due to money hole(s) in Anet, there sure have a lot of money to keep everything clean.
Yea – the term would be major whiners.
There is feeling you get once to click on HC character and try to lvl it. Always unsure when death will come, but the intensity is always there. As Magnus Steelgrave.6580 mentioned before – the HC players would play on the same servers for normal players, which I agree with now (less trolling).
Raf.1078 – You make a couple of good comments, which I like. Players do engage more often and talk about tactics for every encounter and yes there would be a lot more runners. That would make the game even more engaging to a degree.
I never expected Anet to really respond as this was only a suggestion from the start.

Thanks Slowburn.5319 & Magnus Steelgrave.6580.
Yes – it would be nice.
I’m waiting for Anet to make a comment, but…..
Yep – people can create (4) normal characters and (1) HC (optional).
The game doesn’t change, it’s just an added element for fun.
Well – it’s not for everyone & to no surprise the lack of people who commend it.
Anet could implement additional rewards for HC as a feature.
Anet could create a separate server for just HC community. Albeit it would be small population, but it would be there as an option.
I commend you on what your trying to do as well Magnus Steelgrave.6580
Tough crowd to please.
Magnus Steelgrave.6580 – Well said
It’s not for everyone, just for those who want something different.
True, some people would drop out with permanent death, but they would also drop out of anything else that the game didn’t offer to their expectations just like any other typical MMO.
That would be great idea.
Similar in nature to the movie ‘Monty Python & the Holy Grail’.
Few people are honest, which is commendable to do this, but a whole many people just die and pay the repair fees on go onward like nothing ever happened.
To have implemented as a NEW feature, then you add realism to the game with possibility of new rewards for high levels achieved.
Nice try, but nobody would do that.
I do like your humor.
Even though some other games offer this feature, would you like Anet to have hardcore (Permanent Death) as a NEW feature in this game for lvl 1 characters?
I do not think this would be created by Anet, cause of the whining for nearly every class, but it would be nice for some who wanted to create a hardcore character as a challenge.
Your thoughts?
Kind of like ‘Inception’. It would be funny to see if there was another game inside the 8bit world. Further and further down the rabbit hole.
I agree, great idea to bring back the retro past!
It would be interesting if a WvW / PvP was played on 8bit playing field as a one-off in the future.
I think it’s great idea! A nice retro distraction from the norm. Rare to see this in typical MMO’s.
It would be even better if characters could enter other world(s) that are very old in retro RPG ‘black & white’ graphics style.
Anybody see any improvements with the Mac OS 10.8.3 Update?
A dynamic tournament cookout / alcohol event.
I am traveling solo in ‘Iron Marches’ leveling my character, when I see on the map (4) commanders all coming together. I travel to the location and behold a big dragon appears soon thereafter.
How in the world does people know when a big dragon appears in a particular map location? Are these discussed in Guilds at the time?
just curious to those who travel solo.
Thanks
I can understand the logic for repair costs at higher lvl’s (broken), but travel costs should be separate as is does not fall under the same category (technically). We are just traveling.
It just an extra toll booth. Totally unnecessary.
I agree with Vol.5241 in terms of charging a certain rate (Fixed) without any inflation, but hell I am just ranting.
Yea – I thought as much.
Maybe I should travel naked to save on the costs.
I do not understand why it costs more and more money when one has to travel from one location to another based on character level.
Example: Traveling from Divinity’s Reach to Wayfarer Foothills
Level 3-5 would costs 8 cp (on average)
Level 50-55 would cost 1 sp 76 cp (on Average)
I guess Anet profits on this, but what’s the logic behind this (if any)?
This one hell of a long mission as compared to rest I have done so far.
It is a mission of just keeping alive and getting to point A, B, C. Not much logic, then again, the game doesn’t have much logic to begin with.
No game is perfect.
People will always complain for imperfections just as life itself.
There are millions other games out there, go explore and have fun. Life is short.
The patch did not cause the lag. Game runs the same. No problems whatsoever.
Running similar machine:
2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB of RAM
OSX 10.8.2
Using a macbook rain design stand really helps along with smcFanControl turned up 6200rpm. The game runs quite well. Never really a slowdown with most setting at medium.
MBP late 2011 – 17" 2.4 with 8gb ram.
I’m using a Macbook 2008 & can run the game in 10.8.2 with no problems.
It freezes on my Macbook 2008, 13" model and have to manually restart.
Macbook Pro Oct 2011, 17" model and have no problems with exiting the game.
Yes – It was surprising to see so many changes for GW2 with the latest update, but no mention of any mac changes.
At least both clients were updated, so that is good news for mac users.
Thanks TAKBonez for your lovely comment on macs. You are such a good person to be around when a war starts.
Lots of people can play the game pretty much perfectly on a mac (including me).
Yep – I agree. It really does help using SMC Fan Control and use max setting with a cooling pad.
Max temp reaches at most 183 Fahrenheit.
Sadly, the keys will always feel hot as there is no fix yet for this.
Thank you for posting the tweak file as I saw in increase of 10+ fps & smoother gameplay. FPS on max setting is close 43+ fps, but usually set things to medium for 65+ fps. Usually play the game in windowed mode.
The default:
“VideoRam” = “128”
“AGPVertexRam” = “64”
Increased to:
“VideoRam” = “1024”
“AGPVertexRam” = “512”
Using Macbook Po late Oct 2011 with 17’, 8GB mem. HD 3000 & ATI 6770.
I find it very odd that the default was set so low at first. Oh-well, I’m happier now with the change.
Thanks dipnlik. I found about that on my own after checking the option screen. I just wish there was a way to see it when running around the game world without opening the option screen.
I get about 60-75fps in towns and around 55-70fps in battle on the mac or running around the game world. I haven’t tried WvW. Setting are set to low and medium.
TinyGoliah – your okay to run the game in high setting, but this is forum for mac users not windows.
In terms of FPS, is there a setting in the game to get the number or do I have to purchase a program to do this as I have been always curious on the FPS on my mac?
Thanks,
MBP-17" Oct-2011 (i7) 8gb, AMD Radeon HD 6770M & HD3000.

This happens to all mac client users for heat wise.
SmcFanControl as an application that runs perfectly in 10.8.2 helps somewhat by increasing the internal fan speed. At least my fingers are not melting.
I just patched to the new Mac client and experienced no problems booting into the game.
I agree. This is extremely rare for me to buy a game on my mac.
I am happy to be able to run the game on my mac as I heard about this game a long time ago, only running on a PC.
Ahhh – Thank you for the clarification.
Seems there it would better to join a guild or create one for more access for shared items early in the game.
After a couple of days of playing the game, I go and visit the bank. I can see all my items I have deposited for crafting, BUT as I come back to the bank after week, I see locks on bank account.
I can only have access to the first 15 items. I would have to make a purchase of 600 gems to get access to my crafted deposits.
What happened?
I haven’t sen any problems on the mac client crashing, besides some lower fps.
All betas take time to develop, so what’s the hurry! We are lucky we can even play the game on a mac.
So, as bschultz.1462 explained, what exactly is the problem?
I haven’t noticed any crashes or unexpected errors, besides the massive heat that is under the keyboard. I have to use smcFanControl jacked up 6200rpm to keep the heat cooler. I have the setting on low. Slight lag issues.
Playing on Macbook pro 17’’ Oct 2011 late. 8gb mem. Video: HD 3000 & AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB graphics.
