I joined MadCast about 3 weeks ago and that’s probably the best decision I’ve taken in GW2. The player base there is friendly, helpful and running dungeons and events is nice again. Even as a newcomer, I was treated with the most respect (to my noob questions) and was able to run a lot of dungeon runs every day, where I was taugh the mechanics and was given experience to help improve my gameplay.

I was on Maguuma and even paid for a server transfer, because I wanted to WvW with these guys (guesting was not enough!!).

Do you know if Luck (MF%) affects the Mystic Forge drops? I’m currently on Bday booster + Guild Banner + Food + MF% Bonus, so I run at approx. 265% of Luck. Just not sure where is the best place to farm for the drop. Of course when the Dragons/Temples are on it’s a go, but when they are not, I’m not sure where to go. Frostgorge Champ run? WvW? Or just play an alt and wait for Dragons/Temples?

I’ve been playing GW2 pre-launch to March 2013. Then, I needed a break and missed the majority of the Living World events. I came back to GW2 a week ago for no specific reasons. And well, I like it so far.

I have a family to take care of, have a job, but I do manage to get some playtime from 20h to 23h EST every 2 days. I will not be your most active guild member and GW2 is not my priority in life.

I’ve always been nice to new/inexperienced player and will continue to be. But I expect the same treatement if I make mistakes or if I don’t play well my Guardian. I love to receive tips/feedback but I’m not looking to become THE Guardian or be pro. I play GW2 for fun and to entertain myself.

I want to join a guild for:
- Dungeon runs (story and exp);
- Guild missions (that looks fun);
- People to socialize and get tips/help from;
- I can represent your guild, I don’t care.
- Maybe some PvP and WvW;

I’m on Maguuma, America (eastern time). But since it’s mainly for dungeons, server doesn’t really matter, but I’ll prefer a Maguuma Guild.

I came back to GW2 after a long break a few days prior to the end of Clockwork. I collected a good amount of Clockwork Sprockets but haven’t tried the vendor before yesterday’s update.

Seriously, if your guild is not helping you with dungeons, fractals lvl1, story or whatever else, drop them and find a new one.
I repeated story and dungeons so many times, just to help guildies, none of us has ascended, not even full exotics. Someone not even lvl80 and we help leveling.
Nonetheless we do all of the contents without any problem, so there’s no hard requirements if you’re able to play.
Just find a decent guild.

Wow, people will complain about everything!!!!!! It’s an achievement. You don’t get direct gear or major bonuses by doing it. You get Karma and Mystic Coins. It’s meant to be a small reward (and not game changing) to those who concentrate their efforts at doing this.

Hell, I’m a REALLY casual player and you know what? I just completed the November achievements yesterday. The first time since launch that I complete a monthly.

I’m with you 110% OP. Seriously I couldn’t care less about given precursor in LS or Ascended gear. I’m still having a lot of fun playing right now (since launch), searching for the right gear (exotic is enough for me at this stage) and the right look. When I get tired of that, I’ll take a break or start a new char (diff. race and class of course).

It’s a game. A game is meant to be played. It’s not a duty (or work). It’s for FUN.

So what OP? They won’t better than me in WvW or PvP. Yep, their sword (or whatever) will be more unique, same stats. It’s cosmetic. I’ll still enjoy the same game I play since launch, precursor or not.

I’m for One-Time-Events. It makes them special, epic somehow. Everybody have real-life things to do (well… I hope) and if I miss an event because of real-life, well too bad. It’s a GAME.

It’s like any events in real-life. You love american football and the Superbowl is your religion? Well, if you have real-life things to do at the same time, too bad for you, you will miss it. It won’t go in loops.

Oh and Lost Shore was free…

EDIT: I would do something for the timezones though because the player base is not in one specific country, but worldwide.

I too loved Lost Shore (especially day 2 when we pushed in their territory).

There were bugs (investigation quest), and problems in the final event, but overall I really enjoed myself and thanks ANet for this.

Also, I love the dynamic of the new Karka. The veterans with their shell and rolling attack are just plain fun (animations too, how they move). And what about the grabing ability of the younglings, I love that hehe.

Epic events need momentum. It becomes borefest during bomb planting and reinforcements with the champions (veterans are rather okay).

Overflow size. I’ve crashed twice mid-event which meant restarting fresh twice. There’s just no chance of rejoining my party through right-click join or exiting & re-entering.

Crashed twice also, for the first time. Had to kill GW2.exe and restart it. But I was able to join my party in my overflow.

I missed Day 1 of the event since I was working, but was there for day 2 and the finale.

Day 2:
The start of the event was not obvious, but that may have been intended. You should communicate in advance that we won’t get a cutscene that will start the event if that was intended. Other than that, I LOVED that event. Going to Cove and trying to establish the WP, securing the beach and building bridges…. the feeling was great. Excellent work on that.

Day 3 (finale):
I was there from start to finish. It was a massacre. When 4-5 vets were rolling, players were falling like flies. Overall, I liked the event, but I felt it was too long and there was just too much at one time. Often I couldn’t see the Karkas, lag was present, etc. The best part for me was when the Ancient Karka showed up. Starting there to the final battle, I enjoyed every single bit of it, except the 2 phases of Reinforcements that were really too long. Other phases where we needed to provoke a rock slide, etc. that was fun.

But I feel for people missing the event. Not just for loot, but for the event itself. Maybe next time you should have an event that repeats for some time (in instances ?) where people get loot according to their involvement (and no loot if already opened the chest). That would allow everybody to play it.

Overall, I liked it, with Day 2 as a highlight.

Yeah, Cultural Tier 3 armor for human. And it’s soooo expensive, which is good, not a lot of people will have it

so I found the armor, but I can’t find the shield and mace. I’m talking about the Guardian image on the GW2 website in “Professions”. I want my guardian to look like this guy ultimately, but can’t find the shield and mace.

It’s better this way believe me. I did runs with speed elite people and I absolutely hated the experience. It’s their right to remove you from parties, and personally, I woud have preferred to be kicked before the start instead of doing runs with those people. I got the tokens at the end, but it was my worst experiences in GW2:

- Not friendly
- Skipping content
- Ignoring questions and chat.

A got enough replies to create a Guild to list all people who are interested. No representing, just a listing of people matching the description of this thread. Send me a PM if you want in, I’ll throw an invite!

True, I forgot about that. Just what Faze said. The Ranger noticed that conditions against him was healing him, so we sticked to a fight with no conditions. that helped.

For me :

Story:
- Loved AC;
- Hated CM;
- 50-50 on TA;
- Loved SE;

Exploration :
- Love AC;
- HATE CM;
- Hate TA;

For my part, AC is the best. I love the atmosphere of it. I hated CM (too many traps and narrow corridors that doesn’t help the camera).

I don’t really like TA because of the first boss (exp) and those poison flowers…

But to be honest, I did about 10 runs so far total. 7 of them were great mainly because of the people I did it with. 3 were disastreous because my group was composed of players that skip content, insult others or just ignores others. You know, the cancers of MMOs…

I’m a Guardian with high Healing Power, so I concentrated the whole fight on “res” people, apply buffs and remove conditions.

I’m not even sure I hit the golem more than 5 times in the whole fight. I just took the role of the walking hospital and it paid off.

So I suggest the same strategy. Have one guy keeping the other 4 alive, especially ranged characters. And tell everybody to equip condition removal skills.

me (guardian level 71) and a friend (ranger level 65) are looking for friendly people for dungeon runs on [Maguuma]. So far, we experienced two types of groups: friendly ones with people who actually enjoy themselves, and boring/insulting groups who are just farming, skipping content without even bothering to answer our questions. Unfortunately, I suspect that because me and my friend are getting to higher level dungeons, we encounter more and more of the unwanted groups.

So, I write this post to find people who are more like us.

What we like:
- FRIENDLY players who like to help each other;
- Players who are actually enjoying themselves playing this game;
- Players who want to experience the complete dungeon run and do not skip or exploit parts of it;
- Players who like to socialize while grouping for dungeon runs;

What we hate:
- Players who skip content of dungeon runs (like running in a group of mobs without fighting to skip) or exploit the mechanics;
- Players who think they are the best thing that happened to the world because they are level 80 with 1000+ hours played and their gear is soooo strong and cool looking;
- kitteny players who insult other players because 1- others are not level 80, 2- others are not as experienced as they are, 3- others make errors;
- Players who don’t answer questions, who don’t give a **** about the others in the group;

If you feel like us and want to enjoy yourselves while doing dungeon runs in a friendly way and actually have fun, leave me a private message and we will add you to our friends list so we can easily group for runs!

I’m approching level 80 with my Guardian so I started to think on what I want him to look like. There are a lot of great armor set in the game that looks nice, but to me there is one I definitely love and is one of the reason I chose a Guardian as my 1st char: I wanted to look like him.

I’ve sent like 5 in-game bug reports for the area called Fields of Ruin. I just wanted to post it here too.

That area is really bugged a lot. Almost to a point it gets frustrating.
- Many events can’t be completed (I noticed 4, in-game reported with screenshots)
- It happened to me twice, some progress was lost. Exemple, a Heart and some POI that I completed the night before were not completed the day after.
- The crafting area is unusable. The Crafting masters are bugged (they don’t sell a thing and keep saying you’re not the profession even if you are. The crafting stations were not working.

C’mon ANet, show this place some love in the next update!

some days ago, I bought 3 times the 2 silvers drink from the guild Promoter and our Guild didn’t receive any Influence bonus. I did it in the first weeks or release and it worked fine.

The drink is named “Toast to the Guild”.

I see the animation, but in the Guild history, the Influence bonus is not added. Like nothing happened.

I’m not high on game money right now, so would like to know if anybody else noticed that lately?

I’m new to MMO PvP and so far I’m level 6 Guardian. Yep I did witness some of the things you mentioned OP, but to be honest the game is extremely playable. For a game that “sucks right now”, you have a lot of game played !!

I’m having a blast in PvE, PvP right now and I’m not even good.

I tried to talk to the crafting masters in Ebonhawke and even if I’m level 130 Armorsmith (active), the Master Armorsmith suggests me to learn the profession in its dialog. Also, I can’t buy nothing from him (mats).

I wasn’t able also to craft any armors in that place. The station doesn’t give me options. Not sure it is like that for all crafting stations though.

I’m new to MMOs and new to PvP. I currently have a level 41 Guardian in PvE and I started to play PvP a little to get to know that side of the game (Glory level 3 now).

I’m a beginner, so I need advices. I want to get better at PvPing. All in all, I’m looking for a Guild that allows beginners to improve by giving advices, playing, etc.

I have a life outside gaming (a job, 2 kids, etc.) so I’m not playing 10h a day. But I guess I can safely say that I play an average a 2h a day. I love the PvE side of Guild Wars 2, so I don’t want to dedicate all my playing time to PvP.

For the detonate bug, yeah it has been reported (by me and many) on the forum and in-game. The detonate works in PvP (I can’t testify, I haven’t tried PvP so far), but not in PvE.

I didn’t know you could cancel the channeling of the shield. When I use it, I usually stand there and wait for its completion. To cancel it, I just move?? (I cannot try it now).

So, from what I understand, SoA is really useful in PvP. In PvE, it’s mostly used for knockback (big attack disruption) or in a party to allow friends some time for healing.

Is there a way to make SoA longer? Like with boons or something else? Cause for boss attacks, from what I’ve seen so far, their area of effect attacks are usually much longer than SoA which result in a temporary protection, but when it finishes, I’m still standing in the AoE and get destroyed.

Any guardians use Sword+Shield?

I’m asking because I’m not too sure “when” is the good time to use Shield of Absorption. I like the fact that it pushes mobs away from me, but while my guardian is locked in the skill execution, the mobs have time to come back. Also, the shield active time is not long enough to really help allies around who try to revive others, etc.

Any advices on this? cause I like the idea of this skill, but I find myself never using it because I don’t know “WHEN” I must use it to be effective.

Also, on the related subject, I’m level 25 and I’m starting to feel really strong and tough. Level 1 to 15, I felt not that strong and died a lot. But now, I’m crafting my own gear, toughness oriented and I now feel tanky a lot.

Perhaps you have been trying to level multiple crafting disciplines that fight for mats at the same time? I would recommend keeping it simple and choosing either:
x + cooking
x + jeweling

Jeweling and cooking are the only two disciplines that don’t really compete with any of the other ones for supplies. Beyond that, there is also an efficient way to level crafting and an inefficient way to level crafting. If using the inefficient one (i.e. crafting multiples of one thing rather than taking advantage of discovery; and discovering as much as possible), you will have to grind a lot whereas if using the efficient one (i.e. break down materials until they give little to no exp and then discover with them) you will have to grind very little. It is about patience. Build up your stockpile before you craft -anything- and you’ll have leveling droughts, but will level it efficiently and quickly when you do level it. Don’t be premature!

You are definitely not doing it right if you don’t want to level up while grinding for materials.

1- Just gather everything you see while playing the main quest and gettings map completion;
2- Use the TP;
3- Go kill low level monsters.

I’m level 25, I reached Armorsmith 75 yesterday. I grinded low level creatures that gives 7xp +1xp per kill. Getting 20 tiny scales didn’t even leveled my char by 1.

Like Cloud said, do what suits you (I feel the urge to add that crafting tier 3 armor pieces (armorsmith level 74), even if my guardian is level 25, gets me upgrades. Not for long, but still. I love the crafting in this game, it help my char gear-wise)

Same happens for me : human male. It’s really noticeable in the cutscenes. The hair of my human male character are long, a lot like Aragorn’s in LOTR movies.

Can’t comment on your quest, though I wanted to say something. I’m a human Guardian, level 25 (up-to-date in personal quest) and I have no idea what you are talking about, which is great!

Even with the same class and race, my experience is totally different than yours!
