Flame & Frost story.

Look at the achievements, go to dulfy, skip to end or alt tab the “cinematics”, spend 30 minutes finishing the new content, done, forgotten.

Ouch – while I agree you can in fact finish the content quickly, take the time to read and experience what they made you may have a deeper appreciation for it. I’m a lore kitten, there are others too, guess we’re just different. I also guess that I maybe the only person here to say the game is fine – by my standards – I really want more story and dancing emotes and my life will be complete.

If your just going to use a guide to complete content then your doing away with all the lore. Part of lore is finding it your self if you just wanted it to be handed to you as “dead” lore then i suggested you just keep to reading books. In games and GW2 we have “living” lore the type that is just not simply handed to you you must look for it from the npc mobs and environment.

This is also true. The absolute best parts of yesterday’s patch for example were stuff you had to take 30 seconds to read, you might even run around in hoelbrak and BC to talk to npc’s. There’s books all over that give good info as well.

This is one thing I rather liked about the elder scrolls series as anyone who has played know the game has no shortage of books…you can even have your own book case for your personal favorites

I disagree with your points made. How many content upgrades did Prophecies have when it was six months old? What did they get? Sorrow’s Furnace? FoTM absolutely was better than that.

No, I don’t think it was. I could play the Sorrow’s Furnace stuff with or without other players. FoTM, not so much. Here in GW2 they keep adding ‘content’ that is out of my reach. I either have to do something else (that I don’t want to do) first or I can’t do it alone. I’m not opposed to teaming, but I generally only team with friends, and when they’re not around I tend to play solo. There’s no valid reason FoTM couldn’t have been designed to allow for solo play (the same goes for teams with more than 5 players). And for those who will say, “It’s an MMO, you’re supposed to team up!” I say what difference does it make if players form teams or play solo so long as they are playing?

I’m sorry to break this to you, but GW was in no way an MMO.

^ this is true. People may have labeled it an mmo, but it was billed as a competitive online rpg.

I think LA and DR are two of the most visually impressive MMO towns I’ve ever seen. I think all the towns actuall have a lot going for them, but I agree that I wish there was more reason to be there except crafting, especially div reach. I don’t have an answer or suggestion, but it would be a shame to let such impressive places go to waste.

lol People’s answers to making the boss fights better isn’t improving the boss, it’s just “add more aoe”. The upcoming changes won’t affect the dragons being “loot pinatas” either. Easy, predictable fights on a timer will still draw the farmers. Make the bosses actual mob models that move and target individuals, instead of building models. Remove the predictability of the fights, make teamwork necessary regardless of group size, and for the love of god get rid of timers and introduce a meta chain to the event not unlike Balthazar to make people cooperate to get to the kitten event in the first place. And spread the meta event across the entire zone so the place isn’t just a lobby to get a free chest.

Bravo – that’s actually a good idea

…I did just want to throw this out there that “some” of the world bosses are kind of a challenge – when there’s only 5-10 people fighting it lol

But I agree with the general flavor of this thread, the difficulty needs to increase, especially with all the player contribution as of late

I'm missing some wilderness in GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DubzGTI.8170

I mostly agree with OP, tho I just plain want to see more wilderness. I particularly like the forest sections of zones, plains of ashford, SE harathi hinterlands, parts of queensdale, timberline falls…beautiful. So I suppose I just want to see more zones, and who knows what they got in store with the far shiverpeaks and other outlying regions to the north, outposts and towns might be more sparse because those area’s just aren’t exactly habitable, frostgorge sound we start to see signs of this.

Anyway

I’m not sure I understand the curiosity behind these questions, which has been asked before hundreds if not thousands of times going all the way back to the beginning of time when Guild Wars 1 came out. That said:

The fact that Guild Wars is NOT a sub is part of the draw that made the franchise attractive. It was for me. I honestly used that pitch to get my buds to try it, so asking what if hypotheticals is actually irrelevant, because a B2P model was always the hand Anet decided to play from the start, that was their draw during a time most if not all mmo’s had a subscription barrier of entry.

So no I would not pay, because that was never the intention and I applaud them for that. I got many years out if GW1 and I hope the same holds true with GW2.

Map Completion Frustrations

Unfortunately this same thing happened to me, I litterally waited on 1 vista in EB for well over a month. I checked WvW everyday, waiting for a Zerg to make the ultimate push and if this helps, typically weekends are your absolute best bet unless you get lucky and your server gets the color needed.

I’m a WvW player, casually, but I like to jump in every now and then for the PvP fun. However I was disappointed WvW counted toward world completion. It felt forced to me and I’m sure there are some that have no interest in WvW that felt it even more. Ofcourse I sucked it up and did it anyway since I pretty much do the same thing going to work everyday

Good luck, fingers crossed you get lucky

With all these improvements we get on a monthly basis, one area IMHO which is in desparate need of TLC is emotes. Some are great don’t get me wrong, I love the crying animation for norn males – cracks me up everytime – but the dances are a big fat MEH compared to GW1…MEH!!!!

Warrior dance anyone?!?!? How about busting out a break dance while a guildy is banging on invisble drums while another is playing a tune on the worlds smallest violin…classic. That stuff never got old and there was a ton uniqueness across the spectrum…bring em back…update for a new generation…be creative.

RPer’s unite!!

This is not a solution. It is Anet telling me its pointless to have more than one chars. This actually hurts a part of the player base imo. Anyway its not the first time they do it and it will probably will not be the last:)

What ever did you do with all those alt’s a month ago, you know, back in the day when you were lucky to score a rare at all?! Now guaranteed rares are limited to once per day, per account, per boss…effort = to auto attack for 1k damage.

Seriously, all those alt’s will just retire to the sea of uselessness now like every other alt in every other game…ever! Not even sure boss farming is even considered fun, sounds more like a job to me >J>

ive got over 2000 hours in this gaem and havent seen one pre drop ever last night i went to look for spark on tp 1 spark today theres 5 all for 700 gold which means i have to break out my ZERKER ALT and GRIND cof p 1 over and over only becuase the exploit of the npcs not following you like as in other games is taken advangate of to the point where over flow is not only on dragon events but the preevent to cof on some servers is overflow wtg anet

I hear the voice of Sloth from the Goonies when I read your post’s LoL. Also, dude, 2000 hours…playing a video game…I actually feel sorry that you obviously don’t have much of a life, so I take back my LoL from above.

The drop rates are the same as they ever were. I myself along with other players go through high’s and low’s of RNG, it’s the absolute same in every other game I’ve played with RNG. However, Anet implemented a system where you have 100% to receive 1 guaranteed rare per account per day – if anything that is wildly generous.

Please show me a game that has a similar system with guaranteed rares…guaranteed for a couple minutes worth of AFK-able participation.

For a lil europian dipkitten i bet your use to geting lied to hence the eruo failuer …..but for the rest of the world anet is the worst bag of liars i have encounterd in my 25 plus years of gaming i understand trying to fix overflow but dont use excuses on why your chaning things be honest you dont want people to get precursor drops ect dont say its cause theres to many yellows on the market.

First off, before you start ranting about failures, spell check your post. 25 years gaming experience ( which I’m sure looks great on a resume) made me LoL btw.

Anet hasn’t lied about anything. They implemented a solution to a problem – which was overly generous IMO – that had unforeseen consequences. No test scenario in the world would have caught it. I honestly believe the one guaranteed rare per account per day deal should have been implemented from the start.

I’d think after 25 years of real world gaming experience would give you atleast some manner of hindsight to understand the rationale of making a mistake. If you’re really not happy, go back to WoW, see if Blizzard treats you any better… >.>

they lie about drop rates and grinding let me guess your a fan boy right
hopefuly people stop playing the game and anet takes the money they never made off this game and go die like your self,ya food bank going mom can i have another game and hasnt beatin any of the games you play renting them from video stores and now pirate bay DL like gimi a break kid go look for your self i picked the game up to not grind like they said way way what 8 months ago on top of it go read the post it self they said because of overwhelming turn outs but (overwhelming the market in rares) READ IT its all lies get it into you LIES they just dont want people to have fun anet is not your boss you shouldnt defends them to your last breath

First off, you need to learn an effective use for period’s. Also please explain to me – proper English preferred – how Anet has lied about anything. I fail to see any legitimate point you tried to make in the above post beyond a whine fest rant.

The chests usually gave me 2 rares 50% of the time, so farming them on multiple characters should still be valid. Unfortunately, I don’t see this change really changing anything. I’m still encouraged to AFK farm these events and for solo players, they’re still more rewarding than playing in the open world.

I just want to point out that alt’s were not designed as farming tools. Ofcourse people use them that way. Also I fail to see how Anet has encouraged you to ‘afk’ farm mega bosses. They put that there if that’s what you like to do, but it’s completely non essential.

With that said, I ultimately fail to see how any of this is Anets fault at all. They provide the toys to play, if your idea is standing around doing repeatitive tasks for a guaranteed yellow, as boring as that sounds, so be it. The system in place right now, even after this change is far superior and generous than it was up to 2/26.

I know my comment on the matter is practically buried at this point, but I just wanted to add my 2 pennies to say I feel this is a good thing indeed. Yea I participate in the events once a day like everyone else to get my guaranteed rare, but some of the boss battles were seriously getting out of hand. For example, last nite on FA we took down the jungle wurm in about 10-15 seconds…there were some people who were waiting on the fight for a while that couldn’t even get a hit in.

So ya, guaranteed rare per account per day is not only fair, but should have been implemented from the start, that should thin out some of these crowds a bit. If I have but one suggestion, think about adding more mega bosses, like one event chain per zone could spread out the crowds even further…
