Do the transfers return to their regular, non-WvW season cost at WvW reset tonight? Or will there be a delay?
Getting map completion in Lion’s Arch is much tougher now. Two vistas and two points of interest to go!
I noticed this, too. It reminded me of the party/overflow system when the game was first released. ArenaNet’s dev team improved that dramatically and quickly so I’m pretty confident that by the time this event ends we should usually be able to play with the people in our party.
I’m interested in learning dungeons but I’m already in a WvW guild that requires near 100% rep. If that’s not an issue, I’d love to ultimately get my DM title!
It’s been another super-fun weekend matching up with BP and Ebay. You guys give us great fights, make us pull together to defend, and your roamers are the subject of many f-bombs in our map chat.
BSty, I’m noticing you guys for the first time and i hate you, which I believe means you are doing your job
Reks is always a fun matchup! I’ve been running into you guys for a while now and seeing your guild tag always ups the stakes of any situation
I’ve been seeing some [Krew] out there, too. Same Krew that was on DB all those months ago? If so, we miss you guys. You were a lot of fun and saw eye-to-eye with a lot of us on DB.
AF, some of us miss you guys like crazy but if having you on the other side of a matchup is what we’ve got it’s better than nothing.
All-in-all, it’s a fun matchup with some really tough, competitive, classy guilds. Thanks!
Hoping for another GvG between [FROG] and [AF]. That first one was over so fast I missed it.
“don’t claim if you don’t have buffs” to “don’t man this siege if you don’t have mastery R5” to “rangers suck, play another class or else you’re wasting one of our player slot”.
It’s like you’re a PUG standing next to me.
I just wanted to say that it was great to see [AF] out on the battlefield. We miss you guys and your ballistae!
may you live every night like it’s reset night
Happens every time I try to sell more than a few items in a row.
I’ve been on Dragonbrand WvW almost every day since the beta weekend, and I can honestly say I have no idea who [Hero] was, so I’m not understanding the drama.

Are there any [EA] style zergbusting guilds on Maguuma, or is it mostly GvG?
Nox – Fort Aspenwood
As in … DJ nox from GW1?
I hope ascended Gear is the Last Step in terms of Gear Treadmill, please Colin, don’t troll around with this.
If they add anything after ascended, I am done with GW2. I didn’t play GW2 for gear treadmill.
Actually, we were very, very specifically promised that it wouldn’t even get this far.
Great Job DB! Keep on fighting and show your haters what you are made of!!
Wait, who are our haters?
The forum contingent from Mags
You know deep inside every Maguumer is a Dragonbrander waiting to get out.
What will really boil your noodle is that in fact we are one and the same
you got screwed
We’ll need an independent judge. First one to get banned wins?
I think you and I might have been related in a previous life
I’ll pay 200g for a DB group that is able to outthink its way out of a soggy paper bag.
I’ll come to you guys where you do best.
20g bounty on the first one who can beat me 1v1 on the forums.
But I wasn’t even trying to troll, I was just trying to be funny ;_;
There’s your problem. This is the internet. It is for trolling and cat pictures (this is why Grumpycat is so popular, he does both)
If that’s your best comeback, saiyr, you still have a ways to go before you rank up in your forum trolling :-D
I’m looking forward to the next matchup. No part of a Maguuma week is ever dull
Offer still stands @ 20G for anyone who beats me 1v1 Best Of 5. No surprise that 0 people from Dragonbrand have made an attempt on this offer yet!
Being the best 1v1er in WvW is like being the best typist at the Olympics. That’s why no one is taking you up on your offer.
yeah sushi we must learn to train harder in the art of forum trolling by our Maguuma masters
We should make this an organized guild event.
Glad it’s not just me having these experiences with DB. On the rare occasions you can catch a few of them alone, they run to the nearest camp/tower/whatever and wait for their 80 man zerg to show up and save them. I usually roam around alone or with a group of 3 or 4 other people max trying to look for decent fights. We usually run into groups of 10 or so DB people roaming and try to fight them. EVERY SINGLE TIME, they run away from us and try to head to siege or guards and without fail, moments later a huge red blob comes to their rescue and we all get swarmed and then they laugh and dance. Is there anyone on DB who isn’t a total coward and is willing to actually fight without an army, and siege, and guards backing them up? I have yet to find any.
Yeah sorry, we were all busy playing, ya know, WvW.
Maguuma, you guys are crazy. Looking forward to the next matchup with you.
Just curious, hows the small man action on these servers?
By now, most of the “small men” have bandwagoned their way to T1.
Maguuma has always been my favorite server to match up against. The zerg is pretty significant and I have to say I freakin hate Maguuma’s roamers. I run a lot of yaks into keeps, and no other server makes me yell at my computer like you guys.
I don’t understand Dragonbrand sometimes, I was stood outside South West tower yesterday, alone on the bridge with maybe 10-15 DB in the tower stood on the walls looking at me.
They proceeded to call in 2 teams to attack me from Ruins in groups of 5 which failed because “lol” thief. Then they built a Ballista and started shooting at me. Dragonbrand, color me confused?
Our PUGs are just as organized as everyone else’s.
I’d like to see DB with more of an NA/SA presence. It’s a pleasure to fight them and they are, generally speaking, classy folks.
I’m glad to hear this sentiment. The DB/Yaks/Maguuma matchup has been a lot of fun on many levels!
Dragonbrand has community forums and a community teamspeak server. We run into each other in PvE all the time and it’s always a good time to regale each other with our best WvW stories.
I’ve been on Dragonbrand since the first beta weekend, and I’m not leaving. It’s too good of a place.
To be perfectly honest, the only thing that makes WvW less fun for me is reading these forums. I try to stick to the weekly Dragonbrand thread, which are always fun and lighthearted, but some of the other WvW threads just seem to be people complaining and it’s a bit of a downer.
I like WvW a lot. I’m having a good time with it, and I’m excited to see where ArenaNet takes it over the next few months and years.
Maybe ArenaNet is getting into the business of selling graphics cards and this is how they create a market
/just kidding
I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but yesterday after the patch was one of the most fun times I’ve ever had in WvW.
Had a great time fighting Yak’s on SoS borderland last night. Looking forward to the next round with CL!
This thread combines two of my favorite things … Dragonbrand WvW and grumpycat.
It’s going to be a fine week!!!
It’s still very impressive, and leads to some good fights. Sometimes, however, playing against FA feels like the zombie apocalypse.
Every server has some guilds that are like that. I wind up defending hills keep a lot, and at least once a week the only difference between defending hills in WvW and defending Pent/Shelter in Orr is that I get better drops in Orr.
First we should answer why so many threads are focused on making WvW less like WvW and more like PvP.
I think you misunderstand my point. I am all for large scale combat. But the scaling is completely out of whack. More than 5:1 ratio and you have no chance as the number advantage is the only thing that matters.
Also its about the decency of not 20v1 a single player. how is that wvw skill? And it ges pretty demoralizing which is why people usually drop out by the end of the week
I’m not trying to be a jerk, but it sounds like I understand your point exactly. This is a military-style scenario … fair fights are not part of the game. If you’re not comfortable with that, WvW might not be the right place for you, which is fine as it is only a small slice of the game. It would not be great for the game to lose a dedicated player because they are playing a part of the game that’s not a great fit for them.
First we should answer why so many threads are focused on making WvW less like WvW and more like PvP.
I don’t know if I want all my servers WvW people to drop out of WvW just because they finished the title. We’d be wrapping up about now.
ArenaNet thought this one through. IMO, the math proves out the soundness of their decision … people who stop playing once they have the titles complete will be coming back to WvW for the next 10 years or so. That’s great news!!!
I don’t know why so many nonKorean Kaineng people are so boastful. There’s a running joke that Kaineng is “Carried by Koreans.”
If I had realized their oceanic crew was korean, I might have transferred before the paid transfer started. I might still transfer just to have people to chat with in korean again.
I pretty much disagree with this entire thread.
Sure, it would be nice to have ArenaNet give us some warm fuzzies that they are working on the aspects of the game that can be frustrating, but I think they’ve proven through their actions that they are. They are trying new things to address culling, and they fixed several infrastructure-related issues since the beginning of the game (partying, overflows, that sort of thing … it’s MUCH MUCH MUCH better than when we started during the beta weekend).
At the end of the day, we paid $60 for this game. We all got our money’s worth dozens if not hundreds of times over.
Obviously it’s not perfect, but it’s certainly better than it was and it’s improving incrementally all the time. Given a choice between ArenaNet TALKING about improving the game and ArenaNet DOING SOMETHING to improve the game, I will take the latter 100 times out of 100.
My recommendation is to go for a camp and then defend it. If you stick together and stay near that camp and build some arrow carts and ballistae, there’s no reason 9 people couldn’t hold a camp against a zerg of 20 or so and the supply buff is SWEET.
Pangloss mine in Eternal Battlegrounds is perfect for this. It’s in the running for the most defensible spot in WvW.
Just two small examples that complaining about war tatics in a war environment is just…pointless
In all fairness, if you took all the pointless complaining off of the internet, what you’d have left would be 11 cat pictures and maybe a website that sells wigwam socks.
I’ve been on Dragonbrand since the first few minutes of the first beta weekend. I really like the community in WvW and I like a lot of the people I randomly run into in PvE. It’s a great server, I love it, I’m happy I’m there.
So I’d have to say that I definitely feel server pride.
And I’m very excited about the guilds that moved over for WvW throughout the past few weeks. They are good peeps and it’s awesome to have them on board. Dragonbrand is welcoming of immigrants
This game in wvw is a very unfriendly solo / small scale.
Yes, by design. It is a military style scenario and running around a raging battlefield by yourself with no idea what’s going on is an unfriendly situation and should be.
Some of us prefer the small scale / solo option.
Then WvW is just not for you. Try fallout 3.
Sounds like most of you should probably be doing something other than a military-style scenario if large groups of troops moving in the same direction together bothers you.
We don’t recruit because we know the pain of having fair-weather guild on our server.
This has been a really fun matchup! I loved Crystal Desert’s “never say die” attitude and Fort Aspenwood’s numbers have really given us something to think about. If the millenium site is right, it will be interesting to see the new-and-improved Maguumers and I will definitely be watching what happens when Kaineng crashes into Crystal Desert.
Only a WvW player will spend hours escorting a dolyak, or running supply, because the team needs it.
It’s like you read my diary
Yeah, this is just how WvW is sometimes.
The first reset night I was with my guild, we spent holed up in Pangloss mine because it and the nearby tower were the only things on any map our server held. One of the most fun times I ever had in WvW.
