Yeah, that was one of the bad things..but lets wait for epilogue
I would rather wait for the feature update. I hope they never do living story again. It almost killed this game. Living story was started way too soon in the life of Gw2. This game is still missing a TON of content that was promised since beta, and along with a ton of bugs that have been in the game since beta.
They need to do a “Living Maintenance” Arch where they release bug fixes and core content every two weeks.
Do you guys believe that Living Story was a good idea to put into motion so early into the game? Or do you believe that it has held back the production of actual core content to the game that had been promised since the beginning?
I personally believe that Living Story lacks anything living about it. The content is largely un-engaging. The only two updates that I personally enjoyed was the Queen’s Jubilee and the Zepher Santum. Other than that this content has been very unrewarded. When you mix this with horrible weapon/armor skins, bugs, and a shift toward zerg exclusive content, I believe it was a terrible idea.
Guild Wars 2 lacks guild battles, guild management, and even a guild last logged interface. Dungeons still have the same bugs in them since beta. Dungeon rewards are very un-rewarding. We have no new dungeons since release, minus fractals and Mai Trin dungeon (Which are good don’t get me wrong). We have no raids. Crafting is still pretty much for leveling only except for ascended gear, and I believe that we are still missing a TON of quality of life content. Classes are still very poorly balanced, and we have only seen two new heals since beta release, and no new weapon sets. I am going to guess that Guild Wars 2 is going to be in a world of pain if they do not get their act together before TESO, Wildstar, Archage, and EQN comes out. I’m sorry Guild Wars, but your image to me has become tarnished. I have seen so much potential in this game when I played beta weekend events, but you seemed to have took that potential and put it in a completely different direction. The players have told you what they want for a very a long time now, and you have listened from time to time, but cmon, up until 2 weeks ago necromancers had a bug on them for an entire year. I could honestly go on for ages about this, but I am going to save it because you have all heard it so many times. Thank you for trying Gw2 Dev team, but I feel that Living Story was introduced WAY too early.
I am going to say this. In my opinion Living Story Killed Gw2 and the game has a long way to go to improve their destroyed image. Bugs exist in this game that have been around since beta. The content has been literally a joke and a half. The rewards are terrible. Content is so un-engaging. There is nothing living about this “Living Story”. Our actions only made an outcome during the election. Please stop this psuedo content and fix your game. Add the core features that were promised. Then you can re-evaluate the idea of a “Living Story”.
They need to take a year long break off of Living Story. This game still has so many bugs from beta as well as the game has a huge lack of futures that were promised a long time ago.
You know I completely agree. Guild Wars 2 right now is in “Beta-like” build with a few new tricks. Living Story was nice, but it was introduced WAY too early in the games production. The game released without a TON of polished or even necessary systems. My biggest peeve is the lack of Guild management and even basic guild functionality. No guild halls, no GUILD WARS, and no last logged, and guild commanders. The dungeons are a joke and basically a cake walk and a ton of exploits. In my opinion if Anet does not deliver on these upcoming “Content/Feature” releases, I am going to quit. I have nothing to do, and what there is to do is time gated.
How I imagine Ranger’s after this CDI is implemented !http://0-gate.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/super-buff-dude-1024x575.png!
Capes never existed. Biased human perspective.
Capes did exist actually. They were a part of the guardian character creation, but were removed for some reason.
And with regards to time-gating things: I can see why they did for many reasons. The one that strikes me is the economic stability. Can you imagine how much stuff like linen, cotton, and wool would be if there was no time-gating? With those drop rates, demand > supply and only the supremely rich would be able to make ascended armors and they’d have a whole new group of QQers (like myself) at their doorstep.
Least I would have something to work towards if it wasn’t time gated lol.
I want better quality dungeons, more classes, skill quests. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SKILL QUESTS. That allow players to specialize in certain weapons and combo’s as well as give the player base some tangible goals. Last thing RAIDS. I want them. I need them. Crafting and guild functionality needs to be re-assessed. GW2 is the first game where crafting is largely useless, because not only are other weapons/dungeon weapons easier/cheaper to aquire, the skins are terrible. Honestly whoever designed pearl weapons… -facepalm-. Adding a customizable weapon crafting system where you can loot certain pieces for cosmetic appearance would be legendary. As of right now crafting is only useful for Ascended gear and Quick leveling.
Thank you so much for trying a new content design, as well as pushing out frequent updates, but you should have definitely worked on the game’s core content and endgame first. Most of my level 80 friends and myself have been playing from LS update to LS update. This game still truly lacks endgame, and as well you have continued to inspire players to an RNG method of acquisition. Why do you choose to not allow grinding? I played MapleStory the other day, and yes I will admit I had a lot more fun because the game actually had tangible progression, and tangible goals. I don’t like stabbing something with uncertainty. I have been playing since beta weekend one. I have yet to see a precursor drop. Please just make sure you fix your games core content before you do living story again. Please also know that time gating is not awesome. It adds Psuedo playtime, and is downright annoying. (Make Charged Quartz Crystals tradeable)
Why does everyone assume that lion’s arch will not be returning? No where did they say the city will be destoryed. It would only be invaded. The fact that they did specifically state that all LA services would be TEMPORARILY moved to Fort Trinity really convinces me will will see Lion’s Arch again. Considering the fact that they have to return passed events in LA back every year, I would assume that they are keeping LA. We will probably just get some new monuments or something.
Where did Arena Net ever say Lion’s Arch would not be returning? They have said however that the services of Lion’s Arch would be TEMPORARILY moved to the vigil keep. I believe that we will not be losing Lion’s Arch. There probably will be some changes to it, but not the destruction of an entire city. I think people kinda heard invasion and assumed total destruction.
Yeah, the company that owns these servers already has a fix for it. Plus the hackers can only do this for about an hour.
Arenanet can not do much about them. They themselves are not being attacked. It is the cloud storage company that they use that is being attacked. It is a very widely used company. The attack that is issued requires a lot of resources, and can only be ran for a short amount of time. Just be patient. Don’t be mad at the Guild Wars 2 team. Be mad at the “hackers”. You can be mad when you divert a pounding 400gb attack.
Lawl. I wouldn’t be mad at the Guild Wars 2 team. There is really nothing that they can do about this. This is all in the hands of the cloud storage company they use. Don’t worry they can’t keep up an attack like this for too long.
Yeah they are not DDOS’ing Gw2 Directly. They are just attacking the cloud service that GW2 just happens to use along with thousands of other people.
So I am almost positive that the gpu is my current bottleneck in my system. So i am playing with every setting on highest except for settings that have ultra setting and i am getting around 15-20 fps average and drop to as low as 8 fps in heavy populated areas with alot of effects, such as the new wurm fight with 50 people going all out on one head. So my current system is as follows:
i7 – 4930k running at 4.2 ghzs
32 gb mushkin 2133 ram
intel 520 ssd 240gb
evga gtx 760So as the topic says is this a GPU problem? If so does anyone know how much of an improvement can be expected from a gtx 780?
Your system is fine, I would check the GPU on another game.
If you increase the difficulty or boss mechanics of the dungeons the casuals will not touch it. Look at Marionette/tequatl/wurm, possible to be beaten, but the casual/carebear community could not handle it and they gave up.
The mentality of the easy goer casual or pve carebear is this. " If I want something and the content is too hard, I will just go and champ train until I farmed enough gold to buy it off the TP".
That is a very good point, but at the same time. I believe difficulty would just weed out people who aren’t really meant to play Gw2. A game should be about overcoming difficulties, not getting your hand held through a tiny little RNG generator. As is that is what GW2 is right now. A giant RNG generator with pretty lights and buttons.
I don’t really see how you can conclude you have yet to be challenged when the only dungeon you’ve done is AC.
Try pugging Arah and watching your group fail both fights and skips over and over and over again, and then come back and say the game is faceroll. The sad thing is, having more people with you in something like Arah p2 actually makes fights harder. They spam CC against the abomination which means you can’t CC his enrage (which saves you from having to get a gun), they make Lupicus spam bubbles and spray because they’re kiting in circles and they don’t dodge Alphard’s pull so you can even get caught in that if you’re unlucky.
Stack and spam all the attacks = PvE in a nutshell.
Using appropriate weapons, weapon skills and utility skills is not spamming. Please tell me how spamming kills Lupicus.
I’ve done every dungeon in the game. I am just doing a very small portion of my breakdown for now. I am not going to write the entire thing if it is not well received. Lupicus is a cake walk. Don’t use Lupicus for a basis of difficulty when he can be melee killed in under a minute. Which I have done with a party on several occasions. Don’t get me wrong though. Lupicus is a step in the right direction, but my god he still falls very short of requiring anything near skill.

I guess I just miss playing games where each failure was actually an achievement, because you learned from your failures.
Yeah. Firstly by adding body blocking.
But of course those Windows XP servers wouldn’t handle it.
Sadly I feel that they have stretched the truth about server capabilities. I have played much lower budget, and much older MMO’s with immensely better AI.

Stack and spam all the attacks = PvE in a nutshell.
I agree, and this is something that can be changed all too easily.
But you can also stack in the open…
You can, and this can easily be fixed. When I say fighting in the open I meant actually moving and not stacking. I apologize if I didn’t communicate that effectively.
I agree. Fractals is too easy. Agony isn’t a game mechanic that makes things hard, all it does is basically tells you to re-gear.
I want to know how you feel about Guild Wars 2 combat. I have been a player since the first “Beta Weekend”, and I am still yet to truly be challenged. Here is my break down of challenge in the game, and what they could do better. There are some dungeons that I feel that I do not have enough experience with, so I will refrain from commenting on them, but my experience with the game remains the same with the little exposure I had with them.
Dungeons:
- Ascalonian Catacombs
The first dungeon in the game, my first experience with AC was honestly stellar, but let’s be honest, after my second run through of AC Path 1-3 I was bored and annoyed. This is an MMO, and with only 8 dungeons in the game, they have to have extreme replay-ability. Here is a breakdown of the bosses and their strengths and weaknesses.
Spider Queen
The spider queen was honestly a very fun boss…. until people found out about the stacking corner. Her AI is just so basic that it hurts. She doesn’t dodge, and if you do the aforementioned stacking in the corner she can be killed in seconds with almost no damage done to me or other party members. I find myself thoroughly enjoying the fight when you actually go out and fight her, but that happens once every blue moon. Her poison AoE with an immobilize skill is a step in the right direction, but you could take it further. I believe that the Spider Queen boss needs to act more like a living creature. For example, if a creature is hit by something it is not going to just continue attacking and sit there and spank and tank. The creature will flinch, dodge, and try to avoid the damage. Here are the pros and cons and some things I would like to see changed for this boss.
Pros:
- Good Poison AoE
- Good Immobilize skill (but not fully taken advantage of)
- Good intimidation factor (Spiders are scary)
Cons:
- Stackable, which ruins the fight and the point of the dungeon running entirely.
- No dodges
- No synergy between attacks utilized
- Too non-living and non-responsive in attacks and reactions.
Suggested Changes:
- Change the web-immobilize to allow her to use her Poison AoE right after she locks down a player.
- Change her web-immobilize to be corrosive dealing more damage to the player.
- Add a charge attack (Spiders are creatures, and as such will attack things with high aggression when prompted or threatened) which could also allow the spider to knock players into her Poison AoE. This would also effectively remove stack-ability on the boss, and further enforce dodging and skill necessity for the boss. During her charge she should also get an evade during the animation.
- Make her more “Living”. She has almost no reaction to damage. Make her dodge when damage thresholds get to high. (Don’t say that this isn’t do-able, adding a damage threshold dodge would be quite simple).
Boss Difficulty Level: 1.5 out of 10 (If stacking) 2.5 out of 10 (If fighting in the open area)
(For now I do not want to put in too much effort into these postings, due to the fact I would like to see how the community receives this thread, and if they would like to see more or even help brainstorm ideas. So for now I am going to leave it at this, but I promise if 10 people say they want to see more breakdowns I will continue to do more comprehensive pro’s con’s and suggested fixes.)
These kittens know how to have a good time! Join up for weekly missions and WvW try-hards you dam casuals.
This just started around 7:05 EST. Is anyone else getting this? Any updates from ANET?
Knowing the Necro Dev team we won’t get a fix for several years.
Their changes to the DPS meta is going to make a non-existent dent.
What’s the problem with Dhuumfire? (Serious question)
Good point I’ll go away.
I don’t understand the issue with Dhuumfire. Necro’s already have the least build diversity in the game.
I am going to be creating a petition today about protesting the changes to Dhuumfire fire. Necromancers have been the least paid attention to class throughout the entire games existence. We have had a broken skills since release that have finally been addressed recently. (Remember downed health bug? That took almost 2 months to fix) (Remember Putrid Mark? That was just fixed very recently) (We still can’t hit Metabosses or things like generators with marks) (We had a faulty Deathshroud bar for a year).
That’s my point exactly.
I would just like to know what is the point of time gating celestial crafting via charged quartz crystals. I would understand if the weapons weren’t soul/account bound, but since they are, is this just time gating for lulz? I understand celestial is a boost in every stat, but it’s pointless to time gate something. All you’re doing is slowing down something inevitable if someone really wants it. It’s artificial game-play time, and quite discouraging. Could you please consider removing this senseless mechanic on this particular instance at least? (Or allow the purchase of charged quartz crystals via TP).
I just want to rant really quick.
ANET QUIT TIME GATING CRAFTING.
I will send you an invite today
We are a dungeon running guild formed in [TC], but we accept all members from all servers. The goal of this guild is to unite a decent sized group of people together whom love running dungeons, so we can eliminate pug runs from each others’ lives, but just because we don’t like pug runs, doesn’t mean we don’t like new, inexperienced players! We accept all people of all skill levels.
Rules for [DYSN]

Merit Based Ranks
If time goes on and we notice you are doing an awesome job you will get a rank up! These ranks will be competitive and should add a bit of something to strive for.

109842_0542 Scarlet Briar
109842_0543 Oh, look at all of you scurrying around for your lives. So cute!
109842_0544 Stand still and let me show you what your insides look like.
109842_0545 Enjoying yourself? I know I am.
109842_0547 Why don’t you try begging for mercy? That could be fun.
109842_0548 Die die die. Die die die, die die.
109842_0549 Oops, did I say four bombs? I meant five.
109842_0550 Where did I put it… Oh, I remember: right where the Seraph are gathering up the civilians.
I have recently (Just today) started a new guild focused on dungeon running. This is a place where dungeon runners, new or experienced, can get together and run dungeons.
- Rules for Representation:
I only ask that you represent the guild if you are going to run a dungeon with fellow [DSYN] Members. All other Representation is completely voluntary.
- Why a guild for dungeon running?
I know there is Gw2lfg.com, but I like running dungeons with people that I know and that I can depend on. Not many people like running PUG dungeons, but I would like to use this guild to eliminate that choice all together. Plus in my opinion, a smooth dungeon run is a happy dungeon run!
- What do I, the guild leader bring to the table?
Well I would like to say my forte is two main dungeons, CoE and AC. I know all the little tricks and tips to make the dungeon run for you and your friends to go smoothly and without a hitch!
- Requirements for joining:
I am not a picky person, but (Oh boy here it comes),
1. I do not support elitism or party slot selling. If you do so you will not be allowed to continue your membership within the guild.
2. Players of all skill level are invited and welcomed all the same.
3. Please be a courteous and somewhat easy person to get along with.
- Guild Ranks
I will be implementing a comprehensive ranking system inside the dungeon which will reward those players who help those in need. For each dungeon run completed you will receive one point(Only one path per day can be used to get a point.) Each point will be tallied and added toward your total score. Those scores will allow you to rank up accordingly. Admin positions, however, are based off personality and dependability.
- My Philosophy for this Guild
“Who needs Gw2Lfg.com, I’m with DSYN!”
To Join Please message Danté Duskhallow Via PM or mail, Thanks..
Just as the title says, I am looking for a guild that is a group of experienced dungeon runners, preferably on Tarnished Coast.
(RP)
Scarlet,
I ask you to make the most of your “spotlight moment”. It’s all you’re ever going to get. You will not make it out of this alive. My justice is silent. That is to say, by the time you notice retribution has been evoked upon you, you’ll be choking on blood as my dagger’s blade is wiped clean. Best of luck. You’re going to need it.
-Danté
And what about gay people? Would they be excluded too?
If gay people are included, there will be huge unwanted controversy around this. It is better to not include this.
Actually, the OP made zero mention of “heterosexual” OR “homosexual”.
In fact, the OPs didn’t even disclose their own gender; for all I know, they could be in a lesbian relationship.
:P
I think the ring thing is somewhat charming. If it is called “wedding”, it should be inclusive of everybody. But I wouldn’t even go that far to call them wedding rings; I spent years wearing friendship rings together with my BFF, for instance. In GW, family members, best friends, blood brothers etc. could also share some jewellery to symbolize the special connection they have with someone. This would instantly solve any “lore” issues as well:
- Sylvari have deep interdependent relationships with others, regardless of gender; they might or might not be romantic relationships (example, Caithe & Faolain)
- Charr have their warbands: “tighter than family”, blood brothers and similar kinship. (example: Rytlock & Logan, at some point)
- Humans: BFFs, lovers, marriages
- Norn: I’m sure they also have BFFs, lovers, and marriages (?)
- Asura: I read that krewes come and go, but some of them might be more permanent; the relationship between an apprentice and master can be very tight (example: Snaff & Zojja)
In “Edge of Destiny” how Rytlock Brimstone and Logan Thackaray exchanged trinkets when they announced their brotherhood.
Something like that. It would be easy for players to use them for in-game weddings, then.
Because why the hell not.
I agree with you 100% of the way. It’s an item that could be added into the living world of guild wars 2 that could add quite a bit more immersion to the game.
In my opinion that would be a horrible idea there is no need for marriage in this game and it would be creepy if some old man playing this game asks if he wants to marry you.
If you want marriage go play perfect world or something.
This game has always been about promoting a living, breathing world, but the one thing this game lacks is actual social interactions like that. We fight together, but I rarely talk to the people helping me in events and stuff. I think it would be cool if players are made to be more integrated into that actual living world. I would also love to have marriages for RP reasons.
I was thinking that the charr could have a sort of war pact with another charr as an equivalent.
The sylvari idea is the tricky one. They are more romantic than the charr, but they also don’t practice marriage. I would imagine something like a ceremony of lovers. Just saying they would be there to fight on each other’s behalf.
Homosexuality is already in the game in the case of the Sylvari I believe. I wrote this with intentions of having marriage open to people of all sex and race. I apologize for not stating that.
Haha, I have yet to learn that, but I wish you luck with your future endeavors!
I propose that the Gw2 Team adds a wedding/marriage system into the game. My girlfriend and I have been playing forever, and on most MMO’s we RP and get married ingame, and it just makes the experience a bit more immersive.
I propose this being done by either one of two ways.
1. Ring crafting
You craft or have someone craft you two ascended rings (One for you and your loved one). Then you pay 15g to go to a “church of some sorts”, and then during the ceremony you get to inscribe a custom inscription into it (by inscription I mean description of the weapon at the bottom in the gray letters) and by giving it a custom name such as [Danté’s Wedding Band]. Along with this you and your partner would be able to choose whichever Pre-made stat combination for the ring (Berzerker’s Rampager’s, Knight’s, ect.)Also one last benefit to the marriage system is that when the married couple are in a party together they gain a small buff that improves a few stats. Not dramatically, but just a bit. (Kind of an after thought)
2. “Church of sorts” method
Instead of having the rings crafted you just buy the rings from the church for a balanced price such as 50g or 100g. While having all the same benefits of the last idea.
I just think not having a wedding system in the game makes it feel less living. Gw2 has always been about a “living world”, so I think it would be a bit of a neat way to add more psuedo-life to the game.
Please feel free to add onto my idea/suggestion and I want to hear your opinions as well. All that I ask is please stay tactful.
It seems that this dungeon reward reknewal which was supposed to make people run more dungeons is having the adverse effect. More people are just annoyed at this point than before the patch and are wanting to do less runs.
