A mix of wvw and playing other games.
I really hope another mmo with pvp that’s actually supported by the developing company not just 2 or 3 guys within that company comes out soon.
. As a counter-argument, consider the reverse. Would you prefer we remain more (or completely) static and not respond to changes and player feedback? Yes, being agile can have its downsides, I believe (and hope you will soon™ agree) the benefits greatly outweigh the costs.
When we haven’t had a balance patch for months and you guys are talking about changes that have been made and tested internally but not rolled out this isn’t a great argument for agility.
What I personally would like to see is a lot of smaller tweaks made more regularly rather than big balance changes made irregularly, ie actually responding in an ‘agile’ fashion rather than a very slow and measured action.
Provided the changes made regulary are small tweaks rather than large buffs/nerfs this would allow for overpowered builds to be slowly tamed down and underpowered ones boosted, seeing how this affects the meta over time with these small adjustments rather than the meta getting a huge whack every few months that just ends up changing it to the next overpowered thing that is then left unaddressed for months. This was done at the start of GW1 and worked very well back then.
Thanks Lordrosicky.5813 for understanding.
Before you guys continue to react over this, please pay attention to the entire post.
“However, we are not where we need to be yet, so we are continuing to investigate other ways to handle this issue.”
This should mean something to you.
While the addition of something to reduce this is definitely appreciated it unfortunately doesn’t make the 4v5 matches that still fairly regularly occur any less disheartening.
It’s a good idea, anything to boost the pvp population at this point would be helpful.
Have a quick-voice system like tribes did – hit one button to open up a voice menu, that then gives subtrees on next key presses – for example.
VGH – Hi! (voice, global, hi!)
VGS – Shazbot! (voice, global, shazbot!)
VSAF – I’ll go for the enemy flag! (Voice, Self, Attack, Flag)
VGTA – I’m the whirlwind baby! (Voice, Global, Taunt, something)
Question: How long will pvp be without rewards?
We are extremely specific about what is being released regarding PvP in John’s blog.
To quote from it, we say the following regarding this:
- “This post is to let you know that glory will no longer be awarded as of a maintenance build that is currently planned for March 18.”
- Given that we have been calling the next phase of PvP the feature build, I’m surprised it wasn’t assumed that maintenance != feature here. Regardless, the next quote fully addresses that.
- “The glory vendor that was introduced in the December 10 build will remain until the new reward system is released in a later update "
- “Because these rewards are being removed in preparation for the next phase of the PvP reward updates”
In nearly every paragraph of this blog post, we discuss either what exactly is happening in this build, or mention that it is not a part of the next phase of rewards.
This is why I am confused as to where the misconception came from.
Possibly it came from hope.
Hope that Arenanet would not really be removing the first decent reward system pvp has had since release for anyone other than the hardcore players, a system that actually encouraged new players to pvp without replacing it with anything at all. Hope that arenanet would not really leave pvp to rot again when all the casual players quit until rewards come back in.
Will we ever be able to see our current ranking ingame? (Say on pvp screen)
Disappointing to say the least.
Leaderboards should be ingame displaying personal ranking with displayed live rating/ranking. That would make it an interesting and meaningful thing to complete for and you could see how you are doing, each victory would be meaningful and encourage people to keep playing for just one more win/ranking.
Instead we get an out of game list that’s not live and for the majority of us won’t show us our ranks for a long time. Playing matches will be almost as meaningless as before as you won’t be able to see the effect of each match on your rank and the ladder will just be a thing to f5 once a night and hope that a dev has bothered to press the refresh button on.
This should be a ladder to encourage people to play the game and give meaning to tpvp, not a reason to alt tab out of the game.
