I think you must contribute a certain amount of damage. IE: qualify for loot.
BTW: Qualify =/= get. Qualify just means eligible.. zero loot is still part of the loot table.
Dailies are very easy, and not time consuming.
I play a little when I get home, and a little at night. By little, I mean a total of 30 min + 30 min.
If I play 30min AFTER reset and don’t finish the daily; then I can finish it tomorrow before the reset.
If I don’t, then oh well. I missed out on a single laurel.
Why is it that people must have EVERYTHING right NOW? It’s a silly notion.
Inf can also port you up things that you’d have many collisions with while doing HS. Example:
Spawn point right by the MF. you can INF from the platform down to the repair agent and back up.
HS can’t do that.
early game, i had a hard time. I tried using a condition build by pivoting on the D/D #3 skill (death blossom). It was extremely effective while using it, so long as you’re using it carefully and planfully.
DB is one of THE BEST skills for thieves who run condi.
Feel like I’m repeating myself, don’t you think it’s stupid that you use only ONE SKILL on a condi build? Why not moving db to another weapon set so you can use db and other condition skills? Because using only one skill and ignoring the other 4skills feels stupid, or on a burst build ignoring a skill feels broken, you don’t see that in other classes do you?
No other class has the variance in skills that a thief does. As a condi thief, I do like to use HS for catching an opponent, or running away if I screw up. HS is a way cheaper option than SB -> Inf. I like using #5 for stealth to position better before using Caltrops. I use #4 when fighting Vs 2+, helps keep them in place for a DB barrage.
I have a use for all skills, but DB happens to be insanely good. I didn’t realize I had to make a case for every skill on the bar. You not being able to use them- thats a problem you have.
Edit: and the EVADE part of it? are you kidding me?
I find dancing dagger exceptional on single targets in WvW. Most players try to avoid 1v1s vs a thief and cripple helps to make sure when I catch a roamer that they don’t get away.
DD is crazy expensive for 1 person.. you can cripple with caltrips if you’re a condi thief. It might actually be cheaper to HS -> CnD -> caltrops.
It might be the same cost, but you’re getting damage + positioning in the same tool set.

Well.. you still need to be level 80 to use it. So, to be fair, that IS end game. You can buy it and not use it, though.
A cast bar would be valuable for spectator mode.
giving a castbar to the players is asking for a bad time.
It’s simple: FOTM rings aren’t nearly big enough of an upgrade for me to stress about it.
I’ve got something like 17 or 18 laurels at this point; and I’d honestly rather buy the dyes for ~2g per 5 laurel.
Ascended gear is a nice thing to find in FOTM, but otherwise it’s not really a necessity. Play the game for fun- especially if you’re casual.
This is ridiculous. How can a class stealth 80% of the time you are fighting it and then just throw poison and HIGH STACKS OF BLEED at you constantly? I can’t do kitten vs them. Yes, I pack 3 condition removal tools and it’s pointless because they aren’t even out of stealth long enough for me to do anything.
Let me tell you how to against stealth bleeding thiefs.
- Do not let them be close to your character. The reason why is because they can stealth by using dagger #5, and that’s the only way they can keep stealth. They will remove 1 condition every 3 seconds in stealth so if you run a condi character, you better not let them dagger #5 u a lot. That’s all I can teach you.btw, stealth bleeding thief is really useless if you do understand what they r doing… it’s a pretty useless build.
regards.
Tarcis Rhapsodos.
I’m just going to go ahead and say you’re 100% wrong. DD isn’t really used anymore because you have to hit for stealth.
D/D might no longer be popular for burst thieves, but what other weapon set allows both bleed stacking and frequent stealthing like the OP was complaining about? The only spammable stealths I’m aware of are finishers + smoke fields and CnD. If you run D/P for the black powder + HS stealth, you don’t have much in the way of bleeds (just utility skills and dodge caltrops). Weapon swap cooldowns rule out black powder -> cluster bomb. What am I missing?
P/D, #5 is stealth. auto-attack is 1 bleed per hit. Stealth mini-unload is like 5/6 stacks?
I think that the SB is the worst weapon ever for burst builds. i mean, why does the #3 skill move you AWAY from the target? ANET FIX!
Bro, you’re not getting it. Thieves may only be burst for tournament, but look at WVW and PVE. DB is one of THE BEST skills for thieves who run condi.
Don’t think in the box, look outside the box. If you can’t find a use for all of the thief skills, you’re not playing properly.
With that being said, you can ignore DB if you’re using a burst build, but just the same, I can ignore BS if i’m playing a Condition build.. IN FACT, I can ignore 1,2,4,5 if i’m using D/D condi. Is that fair? not really, but it’s how it’s played!
I wood like to cungritulaet everone 4 not gettin thred lucked, good jerb
ERMAHGERD ERTS INVERLERD PERSWERD!
Can we combine the threads? There’s another one in crafting section I think. Or it might be the events section.
Just saying.. Right now the unid-dyes are 20s-ish a piece.
That’s just shy of 2g per 5 laurel. If you’re feeling risky, you can go for the abyss. 10 dyes ~ 5 days + any drops. not a bad deal IMO.
As of right now, the game has plenty of money sinks (AKA: Mode of money leaving the game), as well as plenty of money generating methods (AKA: mode of bringing money into the game).
Due to this, if any player decides to KEEP the money they’re obtaining, instead of spending it on [anything], then the price of items will naturally rise. Each coin in the market is worth considerably less as time goes on.
Example:
I got the Great Ram Flame Lord helmet on day 5 of release. Zomg! If the value of this item is at the highest echelon of value, but the game is only 5 days old- the value is infantismally smaller coin-wise because high amounts of gold have not yet entered the market.
Value at release: 30g.
Value Now: 3000g.
And with more players buying, more farmers profit. Farmers tend to save better; they’re usually looking to buy that expensive fancy item.
Monitoring does NOT entail controlling.
If they limit the prices, or change them, or manipulate them in any way other than the drop rate/method of obtaining, then they’re no different than “flippers”
This is a VERY unorthodox business method that you’re suggesting. Monitoring means “watching,” not intervening.
Hall of Monuments.. It’s there to reward the original GW1 players with the years of work and dedication. There are no REAL rewards. Just some iffy skins and titles.
If you’re irrate that you can’t get something you didn’t earn through months/years of work, then maybe you should put forth the effort in GW1/EOTN that we [gw1 OGs] did.
In PVE:
S/P → Great for Melee’ing. Black powder (#5) is extremely powerful due to the AI being loldumb. Bring any melee mobs you pull to a ranged mob and kill them that way. The sword also AOE’s 3 mobs at a time.
D/D → Great for boss fighting. Access to CnD is critical in maintaining super high DPS with crit backstabs (when traited) plus insanely fast DPS with the Dagger autoattacks. Heartseeker is the end of the boss when he gets low-ish.
P/D → This CAN be useful, but is strongest as a PVP set. If you’re going to use pistols, use two, and use them on a boss. Unload is godly.
P/P → see above.
D/P → Very fulfilling as PVE and PVP. You won’t have access to CnD like this, but you can drop a blackpowder (#5) and Heartseeker (#2) through it and hit a target for [insert HS damage] and stealth at the same time for a backstab. Access to blackpowder can be very useful vs. bosses as well, when they’re succeptable.
SB → you need this. bring it. It’s your only ranged AOE option that is very much needed for certain fights. Even if you’re bringing P/P, bring a SB. Don’t limit yourself.
Honestly a good thief will do just as good with D/D, D/P, P/D, S/D, and probably even S/P
The problem S/P is that you get no stealth skills aside from utilities/traits
If dueling, I’d run D/D S/P.
S/P has black powder, great vs. melee, and you can HS through it with D/D (for stealth) if they’re range-heavy and you can’t land a CnD.
Madnek,
You play very well. The risky DB placement was very edge-of-the-seat and looked like a lot of fun.
I like how you mixed in the racials to give more invuln/dps when you’re out of initiative.. very creative.
Otherwise, unfortunately; the build itself is not all that amazing. You do well with it and should come up with more creative uses for it. (IE. champ wolf in fireheart rise.. he’s a lot of fun!)
Keep up the good work and keep on keepin on.

The problem stems from the lack of players in SPVP to begin with. If we start running a tiered system, then we’re splitting the playerbase even thinner.
If they make precursors acct bound, then it wouldn’t matter and everyone would be happy..minus the guys selling the precursor for outrageous amounts of gold. And thats like 40 laurels a month/120 in 3 months which actually is a good amount of time. They can go ahead and leave the dropped/MF ones sellable and make the ones bought with laurels acct bound just like exotic gear bought with tokens and dropped/crafted exotic gear.
So your solution to the precursor problem is to kill the market for them? If you can get them for free, why would you pay? Logic, my dear sir.
Personally i still dont know why they dont gave us soulbound precurson for 100 laurents in vendor. Thinking must hurts anyway. Everyone would be happy…ok except ppl controlling precuson market.
Because:
1 daily = 1 laurel
1 monthly = 10 laurel
assuming 365 days a year, and 12 months, of course.
12 X 10 = 120
365 * 1 = 365
————————-
485 laurels in 1 year.
I think that nearly 5 precursors per person who does the daily and monthly MIGHT flood the market just a tad more than they would want.
So would you guys be happy if they introduced a way to get a precursor via, say, a solo combat challenge that is so hard only 5% of people attempting it have even a chance of ever winning it?
Even if it means that for those of non-godly skills (which includes you, me, and pertty much everyone) would have zero chance of getting one?
lawls. everyone will make a warrior to get their precursors.
Did anyone respec for WVW and forget to switch back?
Unfortunately, both paths pretty much require all of your cooldowns.
PW: No mobility when using PW. once you pop it, you’re rooted and easy pickings for any ranged champ. The person you picked out to die will likely die however.
Backstab: More mobility. Once you backstab/HS, you can run off. you’re not rooted.
I find that to be a defining feature of these builds.
I don’t think PVE is what you meant to say..
On a side note, backstab is pretty much LOLWTF burst. you’re not gonna find a thief build that does more single-target damage.
You should be able to find plenty of BS builds on google, or even youtube.
Fizzlepip i 100% agree that The lover has vanished all of last week there was like 4-5 up all the time whenever i checked i finally got enough gold for one and suddenly there gone there’s been none over the last 24 hours and well looking at the bids it goes from 207g to 300g not sure when the gap was put in but if it was after they disappeared would match the scooped theory.
After this i spent around 60g on the MF and got around 1/3 of my money back but no precursor so i stopped would rather just wait for one to appear on the TP.
It’s pretty basic.
Someone buys them all up (or multiple people). Then has his friends but in fake buy orders to drive the price up. Remember how those asking prices were more or less stable for a while now? Now they’ve risen significantly, with many orders being placed in 1 day (many more so than there were being placed for a while now). They drive the prices up, cancel their buy orders, and said person (or people) who scooped the few Lovers up cashes in heavily.
And those of us looking forward to the 330ish buying price will have to earn ourselves another 200g to get it.
Kitten, ANet. Fix this kitten.

Edit: Within the 20 minutes of my original post and this, 3 more orders have been placed that have jacked the price up another 40g.
Price manipulation only works when people are not logical enough to wait for the price to settle again; and it forces the people who are trying to manipulate to lose money.. easy solutions to stupid problems.
Buying the items premade. 99.9% of the time, the item is cheaper.
It’s worth noting that it may be worth Mystic forging the sigils if they’re not valuable, as you have a shot at upgrading them into something that is valuable.
Don’t get your hopes up, OP…. I tried to work with the Mystic Toilet the way you did too, but after reforging 256 l75+ exotic shortbows, I’m STILL left with NO PRECURSOR. I’ve stopped at that point, as it’s just stupid. (and you lose gold rapidly with doing it with ShortBows) Currently I’m prettymuch kittened, cause I have everything except the freaking precursor and I’m at the point of putting the game down because of this. (No, I’m not exaggerating…) And the current price of The Lover on TP just makes me want to throw up (300g+ atm)
No offense to you or how you did it, but I’m not doing it in a way that causes me to lose gold. Never going below 100.
In other words if I can’t afford to try on a certain day than I won’t. My guild does dungeons a lot so lets say I can afford 2 (which is probably the case today) then Ill buy the other two with tokens.
You’re losing money.
Take this as an example:
If you farm for your mats/ectos to make an exotic item.. You aren’t “LOSING” money, but you’re taking a loss on the value.
IE.
(note, the VALUE of these items aren’t real at all, just using them as an example)
1 tooth = 50s
1 ecto = 50s
total value: 1g
You farmed them: out of pocket cost = 0g
profit margin selling the mats = 1g
1 tooth & 1 ecto make
Exotic item:TP value 70s.
money lost: 30s.
This is the same instance. You’re not LOSING money you’ve saved, you’re NOT GAINING money you’ve earned. And if we know that TIME = MONEY, you’re losing money.
Wouldn’t the added % be multiplicative instead of additive?
