So stick with your commander and do something productive for a change instead of worthless dueling that does nothing of value for the realm.

There are other options that are a big help to the realm.
Capping and keeping bloodlust often involves 1v1 or 1v2 fights and directly benefits the realm many times over.

Running a havok squad of 3-6 people where I’ve found a Dire Mesmer quite successful.
We flip camps all the time and shut down supply while the main pin is pushing a T3 Keep. Or pull the enemy away by hitting another objective….etc.

I worry this will quickly devolve off topic.
I know MANY people squirrel off in WvW and waste space, but the Blue pin is not the only place to be to help win the week.

…You guys rock…
I was terrified to post my question about condi mesmer shame.
But your responses were constructive and well presented.
And I laughed Dawdler:
kitten you chrono.
kitten you.

I primarily run small havok squads and I’ve really liked how the condi mes
works for the fights we encounter. But at certain times we will join the zerg for a
push or defense. I’ve definitely felt like I am bringing a switchblade to a sword fight.
I’ve been toying with keeping two sets of equipment on hand to swap to and this feedback cliches it. That is half the fun of mesmer, right? Retraiting on the run.

This thread compares Sinister with Vipers which should shed some light on damage
part of your question, since Condi is the Primary stat for Dire and Sinister:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Sinister-vs-Viper

I guess the question is what game mode are you running? If PvE, then I think
Vipers would be the better option since mobs don’t really clear the condis so the
duration would be a big gain over time. And in PvE you have plenty of ways to stay
alive without Vit or Toughness.

In WvW, some argue that players have built around cleansing condis pretty quickly.
So you may not benefit as much from that extra duration as much as you would benefit from some higher base condi damage and the massive boost to your survivability. If you are running Vipers in WvW you are a Glass Cannon animal and I
salute you.

As an active WvW player I just want to say that this is a very welcome change. I honestly thought this thread was going to be a “YAY they removed crafting from WvW!” thread.
Getting active players on a given map is a massively important part of an enjoyable WvW experience. Even 3 or 4 more active players can turn the tides in a given tick. So if this change keeps map queues down by a few players this a great thing.

I know you might think “But I wouldn’t go into a map that is queued to craft.” But the thing is, a map population can shift in an instant. If the main force is on another map and needs to move to respond, a few crafters can actually hurt their servers.

I know it seems lame, but just know that there is definitely a benefit to this change
for a community that was feeling a bit neglected for quite a while.
I didn’t realize the other side of things and am sorry to hear that this has a negative
impact on so many people.

With the latest update adding the daily chests for specific fractals, Tier 1,2,3,4,
can anyone specify exactly what your fractal personal reward level affects?
The wiki states it just affects the Karma you get.
But then in the Notes section, someone added:

“Rewards, including bonus ones, are determined by your personal reward level. For
example, a character whose personal reward level is 8 but completes a fractal at difficulty scale 12 will have no chance to receive rings or weapons.”

This entry has a “Verification Requested” notation.
What is the real word on this?
Anything that gets posted here will obviously only fact, since it will be on the internet.
Thanks, in advance, for the help.

Guild Mission Bugs

Erron.5327

As a guild leader, this is starting to take its toll on our guild. Last week, the bugs that have been listed here were all experienced. This past Sunday Nov 16th, we did a full complement of PVE missions: Bounty, challenge, rush, trek and puzzle.
After running the darn Quaggan rush the second time to try to get ANY credit at all, but still not getting ANY credit, we had people logging out to go play Fallout 4.
Challenge and Puzzle had random people not getting any credit/rewards just like previous weeks. This content worked great before, but now it is totally broken.

Please please please address these issues. Just let us know the plan/timeline for a fix so that we can stop wasting everyone’s time.

I’ve always felt upgrade extractors would fit better as a time gated item. Either through laurels or crafting.

I love the idea of them, they open up build experimentation.

Nice thoughts!
A crafting consumable would be amazing.
A master Jewellery recipe perhaps? Could be a very cool thing indeed.

obvious u dont have any upgrade components cost 200 to 1000 gold like some of us do.

Was this intended for me?
It isn’t obvious at all actually what upgrades I may or may not have by my post.
I stated, in multiple ways, that there are upgrades that are worth more than the converted value of the extractors.

I am really happy for you that you got some awesome upgrades.
Wishing you many more awesome drops!

Anyone with a brain knows that the Upgrade Extractors are atrociously overpriced and you’re better off simply overwriting the existing item with a new upgrade or salvaging it completely to start over, no offense intended.

It was just that I was trying to say it in a nicer way.
I have seen a few posts asking about them and I wanted to help spread the word for people who don’t live and breath the gems to gold conversion rate.

They are essential for the few truly valuable upgrades.
You would think ANet might want to make something like this more affordable so that there was a financial benefit for using them in more cases. ANet would get some gem income and we could save some gold. But I could see many ways that this could throw parts of the economy out of whack.
I’d imagine it would make many upgrades cheaper. If you could extract them for less than buying new ones, there would be a bit more play in the price. And there would be less turnover in the upgrade market. 5g+ Upgrade drops are some of the few nice drops that we can hope for on a semi-regular basis. I guess it would be a bummer to crash those prices.

Just wanted to post a little bit of advice for anyone considering buying Upgrade Extractors from the Gem Store.

Upgrade extractors are more expensive than almost all upgrades in the game. Crazy as it sounds, in most cases, you are better off destroying upgrades by inserting another and re-buying the destroyed one if you really need it.
When considering if you should buy an upgrade extractor run through a little checklist:
A single upgrade extractor costs 250 gems.
Or if you buy the bulk packs the per extractor cost goes down as low as 200 gems (If you drop a whopping 5000 gems on the 25 pack)
At press time this number of gems could be converted to approximately 32 gold and 24 gold.

1. Is the upgrade account bound? This is really the only important non-math check to make. If it isn’t account bound, move to check #2.
Some of them are and if you REALLY love that upgrade and don’t have any other means of getting it. Then you might want to use an upgrade extractor. Though most of these can be obtained with tokens or other means that often have less value than 32-24 gold.
Keep in mind, upgrades that you buy for Laurels should be calculated in (~1g per Laurel) gold cost most times. Even though laurels are time-gated, they are easily attainable by just logging in.

2. Is the upgrade obtainable for less than 32-24 gold? If the answer is yes, and it will be in most cases, then hit the trading post and place a buy order for the upgrade you wanted to use an extractor on.

If the answer is “NO” in both cases, then congrats you should get yourself an Upgrade Extractor!

Obviously these numbers may fluctuate a bit as the economy ebbs and flows, but just wanted to put this info out there for any of the newer players who may be considering this purchase. Hopefully the price of the extractors will be brought down a bit to be more in-line with upgrade costs.

Happy Adventuring!

Healer + Tank, ever a possibility?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Erron.5327

To say this doesn’t exist in GW2 is really a bit off the mark.
I have had many dungeon/fractal runs that are “open to all” which pick up a heal/support Ele, Engi or even Guard. This is viable and interesting.
To really make it work you need to able to blast your own combo fields.
Since relying on other party members to do this is not really reliable.
Try an Ele or Engi and master blasting/comboing off your own fields and you can be a massive asset to a party that is open to having you.

Salvaging rares doesn’t give luck so the action of salvaging those for players shouldn’t be linked to them reaching MF cap.

Do you even know how salvaging works? You often get essences whenever you salvage equipment, period.

Sorry, this isn’t a nice way to say something that is totally wrong.
As others have pointed out, you don’t get any Essences of Luck from rares.
If you are fortunate, you get Ectos.
Those Ectos can be salvaged for luck.

I am definitely in the same camp that TW is the preferred Elite in most cases.
I was really wondering if I was missing something this whole time…thanks for the breakdown Esplen.
I guess Tonku’s annoyance could have been that he was playing on an Engineer and is one of the good Engies who knows how to maximise his fields. In this case a Glamsmer could be very annoying if they don’t wait till fire fields are placed before dropping any fields.

Well, I wasn’t making any comment about the current state of glamours in optimal builds…just saying I love the super—speed/resistance. The super speed especially. Helps in lots ways.
Mass Invis is great. But never thought to use it in the cases when i would use Time Warp. Do you want them to use it for stacking? Skipping (most likely)? Or just not use TW on stack so that they can MI after? Thieves do invis sooo much better seems like a waste of a slot if you have one of them around.

I am by no means a mesmer master, but have played almost exclusively for two years. I love the class and am still finding new and interesting ways to play. As far as I know, there are no balance issues in PvE. The supposed balance issues are only in PvP scenarios.
Don’t feel guilty about some playing some “broken” class.
In PvE open world content there isn’t much that any class will have trouble with especially in group events. You can look for out of the way champions or veteran for a little bit of a “challenge”. But most content will always make you feel a bit OP.

Dungeons and Fractals are where the “challenging” content is. Mesmers are accepted into most groups without issue. In order to be an asset to groups though, you need to master the many support options we have (condition clears, reflects, crowd control, etc.) We can make a lot of combo fields that are not as good as other combo fields. So you need to learn how to place your fields after the most useful ones so as to not steal the blasts. The oldest field takes priority for finishers. For example, fire fields are the most used in dungeon/fractals for might. Wait for the fire field to go down, then you can drop your Time Warp/Feedback.

Reflects are one of the most useful things you can offer a group, so look into what you can reflect and how to maximise reflect damage. Definitely a fun thing to experiment with when running around the open world.

No one here has mentioned the Focus offhand. It might seem lame, but it is a great weapon. So grab one and practice pulling enemies into a stack (Gotta pull into a wall since the enemies don’t collide with each other). Trait Wardens Feedback to get reflects on both focus skills.

Get used to changing builds on the fly, so many different builds for different parts of PvE content. Reflect boss build, Stealth-skip-for-porting, stack and smack build.

I could go on for days…love mesmers.

Whats a guild leader to do

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

We have been doing weekly guild raffles after guild missions and this has kept numbers and participation up more than I thought it would. If you don’t want to invest your own gold to get it started you can do lotteries for a few weeks 50% of entries go into the bank for big item raffles 50% goes to the winner. 2g per entry. It works for us. Just have them mail you entries.
When the time comes for the raffle, note down the order that the entries were received and those become their entry numbers. Then just use something like random.org to generate a number in the range of entries.
Like I said, this has helped our guild keep active. It may seem crazy, but just wanted to offer it up to the community.
I second the suggestion to spread the leadership duties around.
This boosts the feeling of ownership and takes the burden off of you.

Oh, one more thought I am planning for our guild. Castaway dungeon runs!
Each member starts naked with a single white weapon. In past experience it is nice to keep trinkets and accessories, but you can go full monty if you are crazy. You can equip any loot you find in the dungeon. It encourages full clears and it will really make you appreciate your equipment!

Are they selecting guilds to get early access? That would seem to be a necessary step.
