Many of the open world boss battles are mind numbingly boring sadly.

The first time I fought The Claw of Jormag my thoughts were “Holy crap, that fight was awesome!” However, after a few runs and getting over how cool it was that a dragon goes bouncing across the zone, I thought it was agonizing. You have two options really. Smash your face against the Ice Wall of Doom or you kill elementals. There is little danger in dying and the ice spikes and shards the dragon sends down the middle of the hill are pretty much negligible and easily avoided. You get feared around a bit, but really it is just a time sink. Then part two comes around and you can sit on a ledge and shoot the dragon the whole time, or you can smash ice pillars. If you really want to shake things up you can fight the champions/veterans endlessly for really no reason.

My point is, the only thing that used to make the fight bearable was the drops made you enough materials or money to sit through the repetitive pain. Now that is gone it is really bad, especially if enough people don’t show to make it happen as quickly as possible. The fight is one of the coolest fights visually in the game, and it would be really, really nice if there was a good amount of effort and teamwork required to kill the dragon. Of course, it would also be nice if that effort was rewarded in equal measure.

Thanks for the reply and the look ahead though Colin. I have my fingers crossed!

Save your money as much as possible. Don’t use waypoints excessively and run from place to place if you can. Hoard your mats and your money!

T5 mats have halved in price in less than a couple weeks. I doubt demand suddenly plummeted nor supply from a normal player base suddenly doubled, so you are left with a resurgent bot supply as the most sensible answer for it.

Thanks for the attention John. There seems to be a lot of concern about the rise of prices in the T6 mats and ectos causing inflation in the price of rares and other crafted materials. I, for one, am happy to see a sure way to make money from these materials. It was miserable back when everything was selling for just over vendor value. Now those who enjoy slaughtering mobs by the 100’s rather than playing the market actually have a chance at making money. I can go smash through Frostgorge Sound and make money killing pretty much every mob there b/c of the abundance of T5 and T6 mats that drop. It is a nice alternative to playing the market or doing the Orr events.

Creative fix for precursor market

I did not care for how the event was carried out in the end, but getting the precursor market to realistic levels is a good thing. My problem with it now is that unless you attended the event you have no chance of having an equal, or near equal, chance of reproducing it. There should be an alternative way for those who could not attend or those who did attend and got nothing to at least have a shot at a precursor weapon.

Now that the event is over it is back to gambling at the forge in an attempt to get one. Also, how long can we realistically expect the precursor market to stay low with a one time infusion with no way to sustain supply?

Agentusa you seem to be very upset and I am not really sure why. The problem with this one time event awarding precursors like candy is that those that could not attend got left behind. There is not currently, and has not been in the past, a single event that gave such a chance to be so well rewarded. The Halloween event was “epic” and “unique” and “one time” too, but it was no where near the money chance as the Lost Shores event. Even the first two phases of the Lost Shores event were underwhelming when it comes to the rewards. So, why would any logical person believe the final event was going to be handing out precursors??? The drop chance during the event was 15%….name one other place in the game where that is true.

Whether you, Agentusa, want to admit it or not, those who were able to attend had a CHANCE to greatly improve their attempts at a legendary or to improve their finacial situation in game vastly more than those who did not attend will be able to going forward. That is the problem. There is no way outside of grinding out money day after day to even come close to cleaning up as much cash as those who attended the event were able to do in a couple hours.

Anet needs to come up with a permanent event that offers a similar chance at getting a precursor or the multitudes of rares and exotics to everyone. It may not have all the cool cutscenes or need the same massive amount of people, but make it challenging and big enough that everyone can enjoy it and have a shot at it. If they can put a timer on Ori and Ancient nodes then why can’t the loot chest from a permanent event not have a long timer? Once a week, or once every other week to loot a chest at the end would be nice. At the least let such an event run for a month then cancel it so people with commitments can have a chance.

If precursors are dropping at a 15% rate for the “one time” event then there needs to be an event of equal difficulity that runs permanently that offers the CHANCE to get the same types of rewards. There is not a single event in the game that is even close to dropping 2-4 exotics, 2-4 rares, and a 20 slot bag for a couple hours of effort. Those who missed lost out big, there is no denying it no matter how mad it makes you when people point it out.

I agree but you can’t use a one time too bad so sad approach. I don’t mind trying hard for something, but missing a one time window with no chance to make it up after kinda reeks. Make a permanent event that is difficult with a equal chance to get a lucky precursor or a few exos. Otherwise those with commitments feel shunned and at a disadvantage in their opportunities.

I think it is cool some people benefited greatly from the large chest rewards of the final event, but are those who dc’ed really gonna get a chance at getting a precursor? What about those that were forced to miss getting such items completely? That is a large amount of money for people to miss out on, not even considering the precursor chance. People are getting 10 to 20 gold from selling the contents of the reward chest. After doing the first events for nothing but karma but having to work today I do feel pretty slighted. There was no suggestion given the awards would be such a big cash infusion compared to all other in game money making mechanics. I feel like I am way behind those people who were off work with nothing to do. The 20 slot bag, earring, and cash sure would have been nice. Why make the reward so imbalanced with previous and current in game events?

They can be solo’d, but your skills have to be setup to take on whatever abilities the champion has. A champion that can close distance quickly and does big damage will be near impossible to solo, but there are others that are just giant health pools that take forever to kill. I, personally, have only taken the time to solo one and it was a champion worm that was rooted and, for whatever reason, would not take the time to kill my pet. All I had to do was dodge a boulder thrown at me and keep shooting. It took forever, but I was never in danger of being killed either.

So, there's no way to finish the achievements now?

Mature Player seeking active PvE guild!

Evil.7529

Hello, I have been playing the game since early access and have taken my time getting to max level on my main. As I approach that level I look toward experiencing everything the game has to offer. To date I have not stepped foot in a single dungeon, WvW map, or sPvP match. I have leveled completely through crafting and roaming the world of Tyria, mostly solo.

I enjoyed the company of my current guild before they were lured back to Pandaland, and I still remain a part of their community via our website. I would simply like to find a more active group of adults here in GW2 so I can continue experiencing everything.

I am mostly looking for a guild that focuses on dungeon runs, dynamic events, and farming during down time as my main focus, like many I’m sure, is to eventually craft my own legendary weapon. The rest of the game I’m sure I will enjoy and would not shy away from if that is what the majority felt like doing that evening. My play times are mostly earlier in the morning and late at night as I work a second shift job. So a guild that has active populations later in the evening would be ideal.

I may not log the highest times played, but I strive to be helpful and useful in any guild setting I’m a part of, and will not hesitate to help players if I am able to. I am really easy going and I am looking for a zero drama, mature, environment to continue my adventures in Tyria!

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in game!

So much negativity lately. Is GW2 doomed?

Hughs, you seem pretty angry, but you exactly made my point. There is no difference between the dungeons and raids elsewhere, so why all the fuss here? I don’t think it is better or worse, but I don’t remember much difficulty in PvE in any MMO since perhaps vanilla WoW? Really, the only hard part then was coordinating 40 people at once.

I, for one, would love to see a punishing end game with nearly impossible difficulty. I enjoy a solid challenge and I look forward to figuring stuff out on my own. So, if you are seeking a more difficult challenge in PvE I would support that 100%, but many (and you can’t deny this) are seeking a gear treadmill to keep them interested. They don’t care if it is hard or not, but they just want to collect their shiny things at the end of everything they do. I enjoy the process more than the end result and always have.

Most people who post about “endgame” really just want raids and tiered gear progression. Anet made the game “grindy” they say, but the idea of playing the same raid over and over and over and over and over until you get all your gear only so you can start the next one and so on apparently is not “grindy”. You can do the same thing in this game, however because the gear doesn’t have a bigger number in the stat department it isn’t worthy or something. I don’t get it I guess, the gear exists in GW2 to make you look unique and standout from the crowd, but the progression folks don’t like it because the stats are the same?

“No endgame” folks….what exactly are you looking for? Is it simply better stats or what?

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

Evil.7529

I am showing a bit of my old D&D roots here, but I think a class like a Loremaster would be cool. Studiers of ancient insignias and writings. They would be a caster class that would use scrolls/insignias/books/scripts and such in their animations to fire off spells. Just archeologist types who would use staves/torches/daggers/focuses/pistols and maybe some new items like a spellbook or such. Could be medium or light armored. The personal story for them could be really rich and rewarding to play because it could involve a lot of the Guild Wars lore in it and maybe contain a few secrets!

Crushl, your idea in the other thread sounds amazing, and hopefully there are such events on the horizon. I know some of the low level fights in this game are much more epic and fun than most low level content. Hopefully, they ramp up the high level content to be on par with what you described or imagined. Server events would be great where everyone would get an event alert when they logged on.

What happened to playing the game just to have fun and not playing it simply to get the next best piece of gear? If you don’t have fun PvP’ing then why would you have fun PvP’ing for gear? If you don’t have fun in raids then why would you have fun if it gave you better gear? If you don’t like doing the DE then why did you level up through them at all? Basically, if you don’t like anything the game offers, then why did you play it all the way to 80? If the game was fun before 80 doing all these things then how did it suddenly become not fun once you reached an arbitrary number?

Those saying there is nothing to do at 80 are mostly looking for the carrot on the stick, or gear progression. Well, there isn’t one, they just want you to have fun doing what you had fun doing all the way to 80 or maybe try out some new things you didn’t do that much. If none of that interests you I guess log off. Tiers of gear and endlessly trying to get the next best thing to make your character more powerful than the next is not what is happening.

The end game reimagined. Thoughts?

There is plenty to do in game, people are just lost without the gear treadmill. Rather than playing the game to simply have fun, they want gear, titles, or some manner of things that lets them stick their chest out and say “look how special I am”. I like the fact the PvP is not gear based and there is no tiers of gear to grind through with PvE or PvP. Just go have fun playing whatever suits your fancy in the game. (crafting, dungeons, world events, jump puzzles, exploration, pvp, roleplaying, or leveling alts) If none of that is fun for someone and they just want the newest shiny thing to work toward then the game probably isn’t for you. It is ok, and enjoy whatever game does make you have fun.

Thank goodness the gear treadmill is gone. Grind for your shiny legendary if you choose, but it is only for looks. Do “X” raid dozens of times to gear up 10 people before moving to the next raid to do it all over again is pain staking. I am enjoying the what little emphasis gear has on the experience, and the persistent need to measure everyone and everything by it. Good riddance.
