Why Necro and Why Thief?

in Profession Balance

It only takes a couple weeks, at most, to get a character to 80; and these two classes could not be more unlike another.

Thieves are masters of mobility and deception, abusing both to obliterate targets of opportunity, and escape from danger. A good thief player never dies, he simply retreats when the odds are against his favor and rushes into the fray when an opportunity presents itself.

The Necromancer is walking death. Uninterrupted, the necromancer will drain the life from their foes mercilessly. Through conditions or shear force, your foes will bow to you. As a necromancer, you have an extremely high health pool and an extremely powerful class ability – death shroud – which allows you to essentially ignore damage. Did I mention the necromancer is the best condition class in the game? No one else has more tools to manipulate conditions on the battlefield.

So why not both?

Fishing Pole in Valslake Snowden Drifts

I’m aware this is a necro-post but this was the only thread I could find on the subject matter.

I’ve just came across this fishing pole – it has no skills above water unfortunately… Curious to find the purpose of this skill-less item, I ventured to the nearest settlement and asked around and no one seemed to want the fishing pole.

For the curious it’s located just east of Snowdrift Haven Waypoint underwater in the submerged tunnel that connects the two lakes to the south-east and north-east of Snowdrift Haven. Perhaps you can find some use for the rod.

Community's Voice: Dungeons

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I think there are three major things I would change in current (and future) dungeons to make them more enjoyable.

1st – Eliminating the grind — Fractals of the Mist really helps with this, because it’s more of a “what dungeons are we going to get this time” rather than "time to farm this path because it’s easiest.

In normal dungeons the easiest path is generally what people farm to get tokens. This path is the easiest path to find a group for, and people are generally unwilling to do other paths.

This easiest path might not necessarily be the most fun to you though.

Fractals did a really good job of eliminating that, and the feel of grinding. If newer dungeons acted in difficulty like a normal dungeon – but behaved like a fractal (multiple, random, miniature, dungeons.)

2nd – “Quest chains” that lead into dungeons and offer unique objectives for a few players. Unique skin rewards would be pretty cool (cooler if you could choose what type of weapon you are rewarded with).

3rd – Story displayed while playing, rather than in cut-scenes. Story is better delivered by watching characters interact and speak about the world around them presently, rather than something all groups will skip because they take them out of the game. Think Half-life 2 presented story in an MMO setting.

Thank you for reading and taking to heart our opinion, ArenaNet is great.

Will the level cap rise / Will our gear become out-dated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Exonfang.6784

Is there any information from Anet out there that speaks about raising the level cap in future expansions or creating better gear in future patches? Will the exotics I get now last the entire game or be replaced in the next content patch?

Any links to official responses would be greatly appreciated.

Jeweller levelling tips?

in Crafting

Leveling Jeweling is easy; Get about 250 ore of each tier, make settings, bands and hooks to discover rings and earrings until you can make filigrees. When you get to filigrees make enough filigrees to make 1 upgraded gem of every type of gem in that tier. Then make more settings, bands, hooks and chains to discover with those gems to get to the next tier of gems.

Remember that you can use Master’s Salvaging Kits to get back the gems in your crafted items if you find yourself needing more gems. It’s about 15 silver for 25 uses of this, and has an 80% chance of recovering the gem.

Hope this helps, happy hunting.

Simple question. I’m looking for the recipes to create the different Husks of Rage needed to create the legendary weapons. (Ex. Spark of Rage, Zap of Rage, etc)

If the recipes are posted I’ll edit this post to include the recipes; along with credit to their founder.

Using Cooking to Gain Ten Levels Easy

in Crafting

Posted by: Exonfang.6784

Exonfang.6784

If you’re anything like me, you used to use cooking to get your character a quick ten levels. It took about a gold piece and about three thousand karma. (I’d like to add I found cheap recipes and made them to get 25 levels each, then found and made another recipe for the next 25. Around 360 I had to make a few different recipes, but at 375 I could find another recipe to get from 375-400 easily. Almost all of the ingredients I used to level could be found via Karma vendors and the chef vendor.)

Then it was nerfed.

Now I’m curious as to what it would cost in karma and coin to get cooking from Level 1 to 400; but please don’t forget to include the method which you gained most of your levels.
