I made a healing melee build which works quite well in wvw. However since dragonhunter is so popular these days i often find myself run over just because of Hunter’s Ward (seen enemy zergs with 10+ DH’s).
The problems with it are:
1) With the amount of red circles up already you often cant even see due to rendering it’s there so you only notice it when you get knocked down the first time.
2) As a Rev you need to dodge to get your stability up, but since the circle is so small what happens is you end up getting knocked down again.
3) With all the boon corruption/removal flying around by the time you get up the second time you sometimes even have lost your stability and it’s gg (this is in general a problem with the massive amount of cc a big zerg can put out and the stab changes).
The only solution is see for this is to party up with 2+ guardians to provide stability and hold my hand (if i’m lucky enough to not get DH’s as well since they dont push with you as melee and i’m not in range for their stab). Anyone else got some suggestions ?
P.S. The tooltip never even speaks about a knockdown and i’ve read through all the traits but cant figure out what causes the knockdown to begin with

I was reading the same page hoping to get a glimpse of upcoming WvW stuff but was dissapointed just like you
I couldn’t agree more with the OP. I hope Crowfall turns out to be good
If you try to play Reaper frontline in WvW ZvZ, you’ll die a lot. Reapers lack the invulns, blocks, reflects, escapes, etc.. to survive the heat like other frontline classes. However, if you play your reaper like a mid-line reaper, you’ll do just fine.
That was what i kinda expected though, being able to play frontline like i do with my warrior now Why else give necro’s a GS with 130 range :/
But i’m gonna take your suggestions and try that next beta weekend and see how that goes. Can you make a suggestion what kind of gear i should be running ?
Still looking forward to play a GS Reaper, just need some adjustment i guess
Has anyone made it work in WvW zergs ? I spent most of the weekend trying to get my GS reaper to work in a zerg but failed mostly. Imo there are 2 reasons for that:
1) Reapers miss the tools and survavibility that warriors and guardians have
2) Reapers dont have the mobility warriors and guardians have. All they have is a small slide in death shroud. That doesn’t cut it when you’re stuck in a thousand red circles :/
Anyone have any good experiences or should i just give up on running a GS Reaper in a zerg ?
Dear Anet,
When are you gonna finally fix the clipping issues with Asura feet on 99% of the armor pieces ? This is looooooong overdue and is all what is keeping me from buying outfits for my asura from the tp. I’m pretty sure i’m not the only one who is annoyed by this and with minor efforts you can make a lot of players happy!
With kind regards,
Asura’s around the world
Well we usually just have a melee train with warriors and guardians and some casters like eles and necros and 1 mesmer, nothing fancy really
What i hope to accomplish is to pick off casters in their back line, nuke down low hp targets and stomp ppl who are down. That was what i had in mind but since i never done this in a gvg maybe this is not the role i should be doing.
I wanna try taking my thief into a GvG. I’ve seen other guilds using them very effectively so i think it’s worth a shot. Problem is though i’m not sure which build/gear to take because on the one hand you want to have good burst but on the other you dont wanna be rallybot either.
At the moment i’m thinking about giving D/D or S/D a try and just see what happens. Does anyone have a build/suggestions/tips they wanna share ?
First of all it wasn’t meant as a complaint just a mere observation (i have been playing this game for a long time just playing melee which is fine). I was just wondering why the casters in this game aren’t really casting anything and why this is different than your typical mmo. But seeing some of your reactions i guess i wasn’t allowed to express my feeling about the GW2 caster classes :/
What i mean by this is that caster classes like elementalists and necro’s dont really feel like casters since almost all of their spells are nearly instant (apart from a few channeling skills).
If you compare this to other mmo’s like WoW, Rift etc they have like REAL mage like classes which actually CAST fireballs, icebolts etc. The reason GW2 doesn’t have this is propably due to how cc works in this game and that casters dont have time to stand still and get a 2sec cast off.
I just kinda miss playing like a warlock or mage type class since the casters in this game dont give me that similar feeling of being able to control enemies and casting huge fireballs at them Anyone else feel the same way ?
Based on the comments here i went for Gunnar’s Hold and so far i’m liking the server. There is indeed no skilllag and i cant complain about the coverage during the times i play myself. I’m actually enjoying wvw now that i can USE my skills again.
Thank you all for the input
I’m looking for an EU server which doesn’t have skilllag (maybe apart from battles in SM) but still has some decent guilds/commanders and coverage (weekends and evenings).
I’m on SFR atm and although we have good guilds/commanders and and a nice community i’m getting sick of the constant skilllag that is present in T1. Therefore i’m gonna try my luck on a server a few tiers down in the hope things will improve there.
I’m thinking about the following servers around tier 5:
- Piken Square : i’ve fought against them in past matchups and they played decent and fair (my current choice)
- Ruins of Surmia : i have some friends on this one but reading the thread about their current matchup has brought up some doubt whether they have a good enough coverage to not be constantly outmanned.
- Gunnars Hold : i dont know much about this server but they also seem to struggle with coverage.
Can anyone please give me some advice or anything ? Thanks in advance!
Just had one of the most EPIC battles in Vizunah BL taking their garrison. We entered through water gate cleanly and got in pretty easy but then the fun started I must admit Vizunah defended well and i think the battle at the lord may have lasted for 15 mins or so and a couple of times i didn’t think we were gonna make it but we pulled through in the end! Morale was high with songs playing like Eye of the Tiger on TS so good fun all in all for both sides
I wasn’t there myself, but i also contributed to the guild bank for this. Anet really can’t continu with this nonsense when people are losing money/time when it’s not their fault!
I wonder how the developers would feel if their bank would have a crash and their paycheck was gone for that month, and the bank was like “Whoopsy, suck it up!”.
