conditions durability and cleanse

so with renegade we get bit more durability to condition 33% reduce dmg but still no condi cleanse skills
more builds with condition application will push renegade to play corruption with resistance while spellbreaker and everyone with sigil can rip our boon away.

cant anet put a small changes to weapons to support us.

shield – envoy of exuberance – reduce the healing to 1000 and when it explode will cleanse 2 conditions. each condi cleanse will heal 330.

sword – duelist preparation – each block cleanse 1 condition

axe – frigid blitz transfer 1 condition when it hits

hammer – field of the mist – when block attack cleanse 1 condition

is it that hard?

This feels like pure PvE spec atm.

Stop saying this. It’s terrible in PvE too.
- It basically has 0 use in exploration with no condi cleanse or mobility options. Even the stun break on heal is terrible.
- Phantasm-Wells can be destroyed or CC’d in PvE too. It’s not like they are immune from it in PvE.
- Renegade’s Condi DPS is ludicrous compared to what Holosmith, Firebrand, Weaver and Soulbeast can offer. Nobody, NOBODY would even look for a condi Revenant with those 4 monsters existing in the game.
- Energy cost is still crap.
- Shortbow is shorter range compared to Hammer and has no defensive options to compensate for it, while Hammer has a barrier for projectiles and life siphon.

Regenade is without a doubt a PvE focused specialization, basically the other half of Mallyx Condition Revenant. For PvE I see a lot of synergy with a Corruption, Kalla, and Devastation/Invocation mix.

In WvW it’s just straight up awful:

Shortbow – In large scale it’s just straight up worse than Hammer in every way imaginable. There’s just too many 3/4 cast times on the weapon to make it really viable and it makes it very vulnerable to any kind of counter CC/interrupt. There’s no mobility on the weapon what so ever meaning if you get caught out of position you’re just done for. This also makes it poor for smaller groups as no leaps, mobility just leaves you at the mercy of other classes with mobility as trying to deal with thieves/mesmers (very common small scale) or anyone else is just annoying since they can blip around all over and you’re stuck there with basically no mobility.

Citadel Orders – These are probably one of the better parts to Renegade. Heroic is nice if you need to keep Fervor up and it’s about to go down, but the might generated is pretty lackluster compared to Herald. Bombardment I wasn’t impressed with the 900 range or 40 energy cost but after trying it out I see why and it made the cost pretty worth it. I was condi focused and saw a lot of high burns was very impressive. Above’s Alacrity was very impressive and welcome.

Breakrazor Bastion – Right off the bat I saw everything wrong with these “wells” or “spirits” when I summoned her and she got immediately feared and started running away for a few seconds before resuming her aura. Complete and total garbage for WvW. Stun break on heal is interesting, a 3/4th cast time (more…) is not. The reduction in Condis is nice but over all this heal isn’t functionally useful in a fight since the spirit can just get CC’d and the effects all stop.

Icerazor’s Ire – Not much to say here, Chill/Vuln field. Damage feels low. The 600 range doesn’t help. Would probably be more interesting with Chill to provide additional Torment from Corruption line than Cripple.

Darkrazor’s Daring – 1/4th Daze on 1 pulses is neat but as fast as people move it didn’t really stop anything. Might be decent as a stab remover but that’s about it.

Razorclaw’s Rage – Probably the only well I liked because he Bleed it does is attributed to the Revenant not the player who does the attack. That means it scales with my condi damage even if a power player is doing the procs. Was super cool to buff up the allies and add Bleeds to their attacks while I sat back unable to fight in a 1200 vs 1200 fight.

Soulcleave Summit – This was again a neat thing to buff up allies, but I didn’t see much use out of it lacking the sustain to really stick in a fight. Only chance I got to really use it myself in a fight was in a 1v1 and it didn’t really hurt but I don’t feel like it gave me the fight either. Probably better as a free damage add in PvE.

Renegade Traits – Biggest issue I see with basing things off Fury is Herald is our most consistent source of Fury when we’re solo. The small amount of disables and evasions (I mean, basically dodge roll) we get make the other two Adept traits questionable as well. Stunbreak CC sounds nice in theory, but again we have very few stun breaks as a class making Heart Piercer the default go to in Master level (as even without a Short Bow the increased Bleed damage would benefit Geomancy Sigils). Good Grandmaster traits as each have good benefits to them, was hard choice, but probably going with lazy convenience of Improved Fervor.

Basically Revenant has very few ways to deal with conditions. Many other classes can go with an offensive weapon, offensive trait setup, and still slot defensive Utilities which the Revenant just can’t do. This makes having a new Legend lacking stun breaks (I mean, to the heal? Really?) and ways to deal with conditions on you (reducing damage by 33% is great and all but 3k burn stacks are real). This makes Kalla a really squishy option that just has no place in SPvP or WvW especially when it’s directly competing against the utility Juggernaut of Herald. This makes Kalla basically fit perfectly into a PvE condition role because now Revs can be condition focused without wholly giving up their offensive support role. But SPvP and WvW both wholly rely on defenses considering the immense levels of damage, conditions, etc out there and Kalla adds nothing there and the base Revenant options (Jalis, Retribution Traits, etc) aren’t enough to carry it.

I want to thank you for making such a beautiful legendary weapon. Since HoT I was looking forward to the gen. 2 legendary sword, because I really wanted one but I don’t like Bolt. (I was also a bit worried that it will be funny themed / ridiculous like Shooshadoo for example) I’ve been waiting for such a long time, but then, when I was again thinking it will take another few months (after the leg. hammer trailer), I saw that sword and I was so incredibly happy. My wallet became almost empty in few hours, and here it is <3

[Rev improvement] Legendary Aspect

in Revenant

Posted by: ZeftheWicked.3076

ZeftheWicked.3076

Legendary aspect – an ability to use one skill of inactive legend (under f3 button).

Why:
Legends are too well defined. Each practically hogs a given role (healing, tanking, boon spam etc), and totally takes that away from you when you swap it out. Traits and weapons offer some substitute, but often it’s far from enough to warrant a stressless legend swap and with it a full, versatile revenant build and gameplay experience.

How it’s done

A player is allowed to choose one skill from each of his 2 equipped legends to be available when that legend is inactive. That skill then gets assigned to F3 button and is available when he’s using the other legend.

Example:

Our rev chose Ventari/Jalis build.
He then assigns Jalis’ Forced Engagement as his legendary aspect from Jalis.
Now when in Ventari stance he can still use above skill for some extra cc and sustain.

From Ventari he chose Ventari’s Will/Project Tranquility. When in Legendary Dwarf Stance he can summon Ventari’s tablet and heal his allies and himself as it passes through them triggering on heal effects (as he chose healing skill to be slotted in Ventari’s aspect).

Balance

Basically not a big issue here if you ask me – rev’s cooldown and costs are already handling that part. Skill you use as legendary aspect is the same one you have on your inactive legend. It’ll consume it’s share of energy and go on it’s cooldown which will remain in effect as you swap legends.

Only two things that come to mind outside of that are:
1. Small bump to Jade Winds cooldown in pvp only, to prevent double cast with aspect->swap legend to shiro -> jade winds.

2. Changing Demonic defiance to work only when in Legendary Demon Stance.

How to implement it

Unlock each legend’s aspect as you finish it’s training in training panel. Simple!

Ventari’s aspects special changes

As ventari is about spawning, moving and managing your tablet, his aspect skills should include the following:

1. No matter which skill is chosen for Ventari’s aspect, all of them would spawn a tablet (if not already present) and be ground targeted, moving tablet to the selected location.

2. Unless “Ventari’s will” was slotted, the act of moving tablet would be that and nothing more. No on heal effect triggers, no project tranquility, no healing as it passes through allies. The traited regen stays, as it’s not related to the skill but the tablet itself.

3. Puryfying essense (the insta condi-cleanse) would be activated after tablet reaches it’s goal. Else we risk cleansing in the tablet’s old position (which is bad in most cases) and watch it boldly arrive at the scene to…do nothing since it already used up the skill.
Don’t shy from leaving your piece of mind below

4. All else would be activated the moment you press your button and take effect as it normally does (so instant for protective solace, while after one second or so for Energy Expulsion and Natural Harmony).

1. healing skills most definitely.

It’ll give you better shot at burst healing, but at expense of burning both heals and being that much longer without any healing skill at all.

Also yes for elites. With legendary aspects it is possible to attempt double cast of same elite (cast it with an aspect, swap legend -> 50 energy restored, cast original), or reverse of that.

With that in mind, three of them still get an easy pass:
Glint has very long cooldown. No way to abuse it.
Mallyx’s isn’t that strong, and it’s traits have their own internal cooldown to prevent abuse.
Ventari’s is a heal, and also has a proper energy cost. Also you’re allowed to spam it in his stance and no harm happens because of it.

The two top offenders are Jade Winds (especially) and Rite of the Great Dwarf.
Jade Winds however have an internal cooldown of 5s (with 3s stun duration). Maybe it should be upped a bit for spvp, since alacrity could push it dangerously close to 3s.

As for Right of the Great Dwarf – well this one is hardest to balance because it’s balancing mechanic is in the energy cost and stacking. It’s does not stack at all, so casting it prematurely after first cast is just a waste of time and (literally) energy.
But then again recently the lowered it’s cost in spvp to 40, and if you wait 5s for next cast you’ll recharge 25…i think A-net wants us to use it more then once in succession. Maybe it would make the lackluster Jalis more saught after?

I feel Rite is the hardest elite to balance but also that it’s A-net that should decide if they want it balanced at all, or want more rock & roll dwarven action.

2. Yeah, no reason not to.

The “on heal” and “on elite” runes already have their own balancing mechanic in form of internal cooldown. Also it would be nice to see that icd actually used to it’s best ability without being forced to a specific main legend (equip ventari’s healing skill as aspect and stop worrying about your Jalis heal activating the rune of herald only once every 30s)

3. about tablet moving when using ventari’s aspect skill.
One skill that worries me is the condi cleanse one – it’s instant and does not persist. Meaning you’d be casting it first, then watch as your already “used” tablet travels to where it’s needed.

I think it would be wise to have this skill activate once the tablet has arrived at it’s destination.

Rest of Ventari kit should work same as in his stance – skill starts charging/activates the second you give out the command , while tablet starts it’s travel to destination spot.

About traits, you’re right totally forgot part that you don’t equip them all. It should be available to all legends by default, just though of traits as the “not too early” mechanic, but it would indeed hinder build diversity.

As for rest of balancing, rev already has build-in tools for it – cooldowns and energy costs. What sounds op on paper quicky falls flat on it’s face once the energy bar sends a reminder about not stretching forever.

If all of this is too complex, one can always put initial cooldown on aspect itself – for example – make it available 2-3s after legend swap, or have it carry 50% extra costs if used within this time. I’ll let a-net get creative here.

As a suggestion to buff rev, could shield number 4 “envoy of exuberance” also get the ability to remove 2 conditions so I can have a reason to run sword sword/ sword shield?

I wanted to suggest the same. The condi cleanse is way too low on Revenant, as Staff 4 is the ONLY condi cleanse weapon sided. The other cleanse is on Jalis, nothing else except trait for legend swap. Thats too freaking low. I even dont use shield anymore.

Crowdfunding is there to help nascent businesses get off the ground. If you want to direct how they spend their resources, get hold of enough stock to count as a major investor … but even then, what you’re asking is to buy them a service they might not need, based on your gut feeling rather than on solid, comprehensive data.

I would find it incredibly sleazy for a successful business to ask people to give them money beyond that paid for the business’ product and services.

Current state of the meta

Exciton.8942

Check metabattle for our most effective build —- chronophantasm shatter(inspiration/illusion/chrono).

It is a hybrid damage build with focus on condition. The key concept is to keep a high number of illusions to repeatedly shatter and reset cooldowns. All the traits taken have great synergy with illusion generation and shatter.

The other less viable but still decent build(I think) are burst power shatter(domi/inspiration/chrono) and support boon share shatter(chaos/inspiration/chrono).

For the meta build, we are strong against most necro and revenant builds. It has decent sustain to stalemate bruiser builds at least for a reasonably long time. Good enough against D/P thief.

It struggles against Longbow trapper DH, power warrior, staff vault spam thief. These 3 builds have very high burst damage, good condition cleanse, and good clone cleaving.

For strong builds, just check metabattle. I personally think for solo players, power DH and warrior are really strong for their great damage sustain. But in coordinated environment, necro with ele and engi support are the best teamfight carry. Ranger(Druid) is the king in small skirmishes but a bit lacking in teamfight. Mesmer and thief are pretty good solo carry due to mobility but require a bit more skills(both 1v1 mechanical and map awareness).

Mostly the role for mesmer didn’t change compared to your time. You are still mostly a roamer and damage dealer. But compared to old burst power build, the new chronophantasm mesmer has much better 1v1s. However, your damage is lower so it is much harder to do well in small skirmishes. Your burst damage is not that high and because most of your damage is condition so they can be either cleansed or endured through. So there are many bad 2v2 matchups for you. The key to success is a good execution of moa and portal play.

Bunker Rev in PVP

in Revenant

Posted by: ghost sloth.2495

ghost sloth.2495

So with the last patch to ventari, I’ve been playing a bunker rev that has been just tons of fun and very effective so far, usually with 300k healing min up to 7-800k depending on time spent bunkering solo vs. teamfights.

The main problem I’ve had (and I’m sure you guys have had) trying to build a successful sustainable rev was dealing with condi pressure, but I think I’ve mostly found the solution: mallyx over glint + revenant runes.

Give up infuse light, you say? I can hear the scoffing, but 3s of invuln is only so great when combined with more active defense (shiro, OH sword) and a playstyle revolving around blowing up +1 teamfights as quickly as possible. Glint is pretty much useless for a bunker beyond that heal anyway (as ventari has lots of protection too), and jalis is still only useful for…. anything but pvp.

So here’s the build
Besides the strong healing output, the main strengths of this build are AOE prot, blind spam, and ~30% resistance uptime (yes, in the centaur stance) from Bolster Fortifications, Blinding Truths, and the rune choice. From these traits alone you can pretty much ignore any single melee opponent. Keep in mind these procs are centered on you and not the tablet. I find Eluding Nullification to be pretty kittenty, as immob prevents you from dodging to proc the cleanse and wasting a dodge isn’t a very convenient way to try to cleanse. Going with the staff trait makes up for the lack of boons from glint too. Natural Abundance is preferable to the other GMs as the medkit basically doubles the heal from Ventari’s Will and affects yourself as well.
Manipulating the tablet is a bit wonky at first, but with a little practice it is pretty straightforward and the range it has is phenomenal; I recommend action camera to help you aim it though.

The most underrated and fun aspect of the stance as a whole is the elite; a moderate energy cost (the same as Pain Absorption, to be exact) AOE knockback that drops 5(!!) medkits. Since the change to the cost of Project Tranquility and Ventari’s Will, it’s quite spammable; after a few seconds of combat you can use it 2-3 times in a row at 900 range, making this build an incredible decapper (not to mention the healing it drops).
Over-relying on the projectile hate and cleanse skills can drain your energy very fast, but the light field buff does give you some better combo options (e.g. you can hit Solace right before Energy Expulsion for a free AOE cleanse now).

When low on energy or facing heavy condition pressure/enemy boon spam, swap to mallyx. Pain Absorption will make you a god to your squishier teammates so you should try to save your energy and Facet of Nature uptime for it. Sure, Banish Enchantment does kitten damage but try not to snicker as you delete a guard’s stab or war’s res to help melt them in a teamfight. The rest of the mallyx utilities are pretty medicore; the heal synergizes well with a bunker though, and the leap gives you great mobility (especially OOC) and soft CC. If you have nothing better to do than to dps someone (a downed target? idk) the elite can help you there.

I’ve also tried to make this work with condi using sage amulet + mace over sword, but it was not so hot. Most of the ventari healing coefficients are mediocre and the strength of your heals come from quantity more than quality, so the HP loss isn’t bad at all but trading the sword 3 evade for the range of mace 3 just is not worth the drop in your already low damage. Swapping retribution to corruption and using torment runes or the like really just gimps your ability to bunker as well. I guess a condi bunker build is too much to ask for, huh..

I hope you guys give this spec a shot or improve on my ideas, it is by far the most fun bunker I’ve ever used in the game. I’m not saying it’s plat viable, but I enjoy it more than other rev builds. Maybe my success is just due to the bearbow-tier offseason pvp crowd though. :p

Pvp is unplayable, everything is telegraphed.

Spam Precission Strike or auto attacks and use hydromancy as swap sigil; chilled enemies slant to waste evades and defensive skills. Once they waste a couple of evades or big defensive skills start to press with things like Jade Winds, Chaotic Release, Surge of the Mist, Unrelenting Assault and Elemental Blast in no order. Also, Malicious Reprisal and Phase Traversal combined with AA are key to force the enemy to waste resources. Make them nervous: Impossible Odds and a few AA and they will start to deplete their skills to evade, block, blind, cc or tank your hits and is THEN when you must start to land your heavy hitters. Also, don’t use Infuse Light or Crystal Hibernation to heal yourself: use them to block attacks.

Rev lacks stability, lacks in condition cleansing and has some awkward stun breaks; must be played with patience: a slow attack is effective if your target lacks endurance or defensive tools, and you known how is the status of those skills in the target if you known His build and look carefully what’s doing in nthe match.

It was nerfed too hard IMO. And yes I used to play rev but in even proportion with DH/Scrapper/Warrior.

There’s a reason why you hardly see Revs in matches anymore. Its the lowest represented class that I have personally seen in my matches this season.

How many times have you seriously seen ANet straight up revert their decisions? I can’t think of any. Asking for such is pointless.

What other ways can you see ANet improve revenants playstyle?

What I would want to see is them removing the rooting effect from shield 5, as well as the trait since it sometimes actively works against you.
I would like to see UA proc confusion on activation, not on hit.
I would like staff 4 to be instantly cast and staff 2 made into single skill.
The activation time on Chaotic Release should be lowered, since it has the biggest tell in the game. Quite literally.
I would like Ferocious Strikes and Vicious Lacerations to be merged. Fill the new spot with something that promotes using Assassin Stance skills/one of the skills. Stability comes to mind since revs only stability access is currently in Retribution.

Its pretty obvious now that rev got overnerfed. There like 3 people on NA that can play it properly and maybe 5 on Eu. Whenever I get a rev on my team that I never seen its basically gg.

I would rather get a Bad DH/ele/scrapper/druid on my team than an Average rev, that’s how bad the class is right now especially in solo Q.

It loses most 1v1s, and loses to thief and all condi builds, and its unviable without a support class babysitting the rev. The damage shave was insane now you can basically facetank a rev and kill it overtime with passives.

The risk is too high and the reward is too low compared to most builds, I dont see the point of playing rev currently unless you are in the 1% of the players that can still be effective with it and even then it feels unrewarding cuz u could be facerolling on something else instead of try harding and focusing on your gameplay.

Revert rev nerfs, it was too much and it shows, I dont see any revs and I’m plat 2 ( at least I was before decay).

High risk no reward= revenant, yup nice balance .

Experiences playing rev after nerf

in Revenant

Posted by: Nath.3918

Well to summ up the experience from this season,
- playing rev is unenjoyabable

You still can fight as in previous seasons but you are just weaker version of what you used to be. No more really high burst (its gone, you can still burst something but most of the time you need one more person to burst with you or they walk away and heal).

Now you have more counters, especially thieves.
If the thief isnt bad, he will kill you and he has everything he needs at his disposal.
-blind
-boon steal
-mobility
-unblockable
-and pulmonary impact as cherry on the top which they really like to abuse a lot
-you cant kill him back like you used to, so find nearest ele to get a break

Big bad conditions
-mesmers
-burn guards
-most of warriors
-necros

Slow on traps
-slow really breaks rev a lot so our favorite matchap against guard is now more 40:60 for DH

Shocking aura and magnetic aura
-sword #3 → stun
-you want to cleave → stun
-enchanted daggers → please why are you healing the enemy?

Precision strike
-I loved that skill, gave you the feeling like from action games or anime when you slash with your sword and hit targets far away from you. It didnt looked so good but it hit hard and gave really nice synergy with off-hand sword. Also thieves didnt like to eat it.
-Now? Most of the time uselles. And in most situation it hinders you. Engi, mesmer, warri, ele (whole team) can refleckt it back on you, guard can break it with bow 3, sword 3 and shield 5, thieves dont care about chill and dmg is almost worse than autoattack (which can cleave and can be used in team fights), necros can be hit but watch out for transfer of chill (which you probably already have on), druids also can be hit but if pet is close, damage is worthless or they have healling wall up …
-So basicly this skill is for hitting other revs

And so on … and on …

Dont get me wrong rev is still playable and can be good in team fights, but not so much as other classes.
You must watch really carefully what is happening, when can you strike, where are you standing, where is enemy thief, where is you ele, what auras are on and what conditions you have (confusion the biggest friend of every rev – right after that slow).
And if you can do all theese things, you should play thief this season.

I was taking a look over the Sindrener (Thief, Rank 55 Dragons) streams this days and I think that Ian Ross was wrong and Revenant is no longer meta:

Current Revenant lacks the sustain of Tempest, Druid, Berserker or Scrapper (to name a few which also are stronger in teamfights) and is utterly butchered by Daredevil in terms of mobility, disengage and burst potential.

Maybe I’m wrong but I think that in the next Pro League most of teams will switch from Rev to DD for their +1 fighter. IMO the meta would be something like this:

  • Tempest: huge sustain, provides cleanses and support.
  • Chrono: key utilities, great cc and sustain, strong in duels, high mobility.
  • Scrapper: perfect bruiser/holder, great utility, strong in teamfights, huge sustain.
  • Daredevil: huge mobility & disengage, high burst, best +1 and best decapper in the game.

For the last slot a team could lean towards more suport and tankiness (Druid), more cc and AoE damage (Necro) or another bruiser (Berseker), but I can’t see them adding Rev as +1 to the already phenomenal DD. In pug matches you will see more DH than Reapers due Necros do need more team support and DH are easier to play and can stack massive damage (in both power and burn variants), but for high skilled competitive teams can’t see how Rev could be a thing.

You can play what you want. This is my personal build for open world chill.
-perma 25 might stack
-perma fury
-perma retal
-perma swift
-perma regen
-80-100% prot uptime
-90% quickness uptime (if you swap blat gyro for elixir U)
-60-100% stability uptime
-high defense, vitality, pretty good damage (60% of squishy dps condi build-tested) not heavy kit swap

As you can see, engi have many oportunities. I sometimes use this build in wvw with decent ressults. For raid enviroment , power bomber build offer high dps (33-34k myself) with easy rotation.

So try it with exo gear, and tell us if you like it :-)

Edit: Power engineer is great for casual pve . Explosives, firearms and tools traits with static discharge and suprise shot and nade barrage offer you one of the biggest burst dmg in the game. So you can run and one shot mobs. Gl+hf

One of the Dev’s involved in the making the balance mains a DH and was badly beaten by a Rev.

Revenant has no place in raids and now gutted in pvp.

I’m guessing you’re aiming to popularise condi rev by nerfing staff/buffing mallyx but it’s plagued with bugs.

Congratulations, you have reduced the build diversity from one to none

Revenant fun?

Pros:

  • no rotation, so noob friendly
  • good fury, swiftness and protection uptime
  • there are no bad weapons, because there is nothing to compare
  • great for gathering, JP and doing your daily stuff because of the perma fury and swiftness
  • not the worst DPS, yet…
  • can sometimes ignore instakill mechanics with glints heal
  • bugs can make you laugh, sometimes

Cons:

  • no rotation, so extremely bland
  • no variety in weapons
  • no variety in traits/utilities
  • no racial utilities (seriously anet, why?!)
  • no build variety
  • jack of all trades, and sucking at all of them
  • barely any condi removal
  • still an unfinished class
  • gets nerfed every patch
  • no facet of quickness
  • not allowed in raids, except MAYBE escort
  • bugs still present since day 1 (just make sword 3 remove confusion and you fixed 1 bug already. it’s not that hard)

And still, I always find myself playing my rev in PvE. I once made the rev my main and altough I want to switch back to guard, I can’t. Probably lack of perma swiftness/fury. I don’t WvW or PvP with my rev, but looking at other threads should give you a general idea what the rev lacks.

A Facet for Quickness would be stupid broken….. the Shiro skill is good just needs to have the upkeep lowered.
