Don’t think it will be too difficult to get a higher win ratio if you are good enough as the spvp player base seems to be too small. I already saw players with a rank around 100 and 500 in the same match while checking the leader.

I’ve restarted playing pvp two weeks ago and i wanted to know if leavers in tournaments are getting punished in any way.

I’ve reached around rank 500 now and every time i play i lose at least 30min out of 2 hours of gaming time due to people leaving either mine or the enemy team making the whole match a farce. The reason i mention the rank is obvious. It’s not beginners that leave its people that know exactly how they mess with 9 other players.

So Necro’s feel our pain with that one but at least necro’s 2-5 staff skills have a 1200 yard range to match… Engi 3,4 have 400, and 5 has 700 yard range…

Coglin: First off, drop the attitude. I’m stating my opinion of something i’d like to see fixed.. you don’t agree that’s fine and you are welcome to debate but being disrespectful about it isn’t necessary. You also assume a lot. Yes I failed to mention I was comparing ranged weapons.. for a similar comparison.. I thought common sense would have taken place there.. everyone else seems to get it.

Fast Asleep: Homing torpedo is not AOE. There is no radius mentioned it is single target only. Plust the speed ot it can practically be out run by anyone with swiftness. Not everyone runs power builds we should have the option. All other classes seem to have a condition weapon and a power weapon underwater. Except us. (ele’s have choice of attunement).

Enjoying the talks and debates. Seems everyone agrees that pistol #1 needs some help. Rifle is our most balanced weapon except for the whole range issue. almost need a choice of a shotgun or a rifle as a weapon, not this half and half stuff lol.

Sorry if it is wrong. I havent played power engi in over 6 months now in spvp (i never fought underwater anywhere else tbh) so i just hoped that what is written on the gw2 wiki was right.

And even if you dont have a condition weapon underwater you still have the luxury of fast kit swap. So even if you only have one attack the applies fire on the harpoon gun you still have 2 control skills and you can chuck out an instant 3k dmg on an enemy if it gets close enough while you always can switch back to something like eg to auto apply bleeding.

Regarding the harpoon gun. Sure the #1 skill isnt the fastest but its still aoe that scales 0.6 with power and #2 hits for 3k without any additional power of traits or armor on a 12s cooldown. The only complain you can have about the harpoon gun is that you cant use it as condition build but if you have ever landed 15k+ dmg hits on your enemy every 10s (if traited) you know that its a good weapon in a hand of a power based build.

The problem about your suggestion is that things get balanced around spvp here, which is a game mode where people actually have to stand around in circles to win. So turrets will never get the amount of health you want the to get.

Debugging them would be enough anyways.

I do realize he is built as a direct counter to me, so how do I build to counter him? I’ve been using protection injection + stabilized armor+ saffron bread to get -70% damage reduction while stunned, then tank through the stun while hes in my fire bomb field, and guess who ends up taking more damage? Me, and this is with 20+ stacks of might ~2200 condi dmg.

Well if 2.2k condition dmg is what you have in a fight you clearly have much room for improvement. If you sit on 3k + you will at least be able to kill players with a lower skill lvl than your own. It wont change the outcome against a really good player but i already stated that you cant expect anything else against a direct counter to condition builds.
If you are running with 25 corruption stacks and sigil of burst you can reach insane condition dmg.

This might be wrong but from what i know TEO is running something around 10 people and FURY not much more since they restarted raiding. So you might understand why they dont run into you alone.

Btw if I started to post screens every time you desos send 40+ to fight our 6-10 men guild group this thread would have a few more pages.

Yeah just let all the little zerglings faster onto the map and punish everyone that doesn’t fell like running in 60+ wxp trains every time. I have played wvw for over a year but i just can t be kitten d to waste my time inside of wvw smashing my head against the same three keeps in a circle. So i dont see any difference if you let a new player into wvw or another gold invader with hundreds of wvw lvls that can only pvd anyway.

You can always build your engi to remove conditions on elixiers and you will have loads of conditions removals on an engi instantly.

But letting that aside you still have some nice ways of removing conditions. You just have to use them like with any other class. If you run toolkit and elixir gun for example you can place the healing field on the ground and throw the toolkit toolbelt skill right after that while moving foward which results in one or two additional cond removals regarding if you didnt throw the wrench into a wall or such. Using that and healing turret you can remove up to five conditions every 20 seconds which is more or less average through all classes as you didnt have to use any traits to do that.

Next thing is i never cried about runes of perplexity, kitten, i don’t even care if anyone runs them. WvW is no fair place from the start so there is no difference if you fight one or two enemies regardless of their build or the amount of stacks on them.
The things i was stating are that if you have a good player running perplexity he wont start with all his interupts and just keep them for a point he sees you using skills that he will either be interupted easily or some he doesnt want you to use. The next thing is if said player doesnt burn down his interupts from the start he will normally still attack you. So you might come to the point where you have to cleanse conditions or heal and getting 15s of confusion afterwards just hurts way too much to trade a reasonable heal for the 4-6k of antitoxin spray that even had a 1,5 second casting time at the point i wrote my post (got patched down to 1s now though).

Don’t expect any fix on this. Engi turrets are not working as intended since forever so you won’t get a fix for them to work with any rune properly for sure imo.

I am curious how this will hurt conditions engineers with every player in the game now being able to cleanse the damage from pistol #2, pistol #3, elixir gun #3, grenade #5, bomb #3, and tool kit #3.

Not only that, but this skill also doubles as the Perplexity nerf.

Don’t know if you ever fought against perplexity but the healing will have no really impact on the runes as long as they stay without internal cooldown. Any good player will still load you with conditions first and interrupt you after you ve used you condition cleanse or whenever you use long casting skills. So you will just sit on a kitten heal with 1,5 second casting time thats crying for an interupt itself.

There is a two explanations the pop up in my mind instantly. But before that: Yes you get downgraded if you enter a low lvl zone.
First might be that you dont have proper gear. If are lvl 33 and still run your starter gear for example you will be significantly weaker than with proper gear (around lvl 30+ in this case).
Second: Did you run into a champion? People can solo champs if they have decend gear and know how to kite but if you are new to the game any champ wont be solo able for you.

Well it really depends. If you wanna run with your up lvld inside the zerg just take grenades and keep spamming them. If you gonna lvl outside wvw i felt that bombs (with power traits and gear) were the easiest way to kill mindless pve mobs.

A problem is the “can handle themselves in a zerg thing”. You will have a much better time if you are in a group as you ll have easier access to stability and other boons. Build wise condition dmg goes pretty well in wvw. Not that power engis don’t but if you run a static discharge build you wont have a fun time inside larger groups.

And regarding celestial gear. I never heard anyone telling that this was THE gear to go and i wouldn’t believe them anyway. I would always recommend rabid for those who wanna try out conditions though: the whole set of armor and trinkets can be bought through karma. So you only have to spend like 3 to 4g for the weapons, sigils and runes and you are set to go.

The lag you get in silver league might be as bad as in gold as there must be something different since the last patch. You even start lagging if there is 50 people fighting somewhere else on the map equally to a 100+ man threeway fight inside of sm in the past.
You definetly will have shorter to no queues though. And regarding EU, the best guilds are mostly piled up on silver league servers. And compared to vizunah or piken (two servers i played in the last weeks against) the fights are just better overall.

You cant get recognition for any gate or wall by pvd ing . You just screw up your commander if he was trying not to get orange swords.

If you get wxp when the gates/wall gets down it counted. This will happen if you either made enough dmg while using siege (for example you can use a ram till 50% and then let another person on it so he get achievment progress too) or which is much easier just being inside the group of the one person using the ram on the door. It s the same mechanic as the kill recognition. The person using the ram will have done more than enough dmg so hitting the gate even once will be enough for a party member to get recognition too (wont work on walls obviously).

As stated the 6/6 skill of the superior runes of dwayna ( might be the same with 4/6 too) does not remove any condition if you have cleansing water traited on the ele.
I don’t know if this is intended or anything because you only “gain” regen from the rune and its not “granted”. Cleansing water works fine with elemental attunement though which only lets you “gain” a boon too.

Either way its a huge let down for my mass condition removal build and a statement would be much apreciated.

EG is more of a condition weapon and sadly direct dmg is what you need in pve so i would recommend changing that at least. Its single target too which is another downside for pve

We on GH had only two maps queued max over the whole day. And i m pretty sure that the other silver league servers aren’t far off. Prime time will be totally different though as it is stacked at least on GH.
We were playing long enough in the lower tiers though and back in the days we were happy if we had one or two full maps in prime time. So bronze league shouldnt be far off that right now even with the pve people.

Right now this is a big problem.
It’s not just the queue. When you do get in, the quality of team-play has gone through the floor.

Normally our pugs are reasonably tight disciplined, mostly on TS and nearly all aware of how to play the game. But right now, they are just running around hitting things, attacking the sentries, doors, wildlife, anything. When the enemy comes in sight they scatter and run. They clearly haven’t the faintest idea.

Out of a zerg of around 30, there were 5 of us on TS trying to direct the fight – total waste of time.
I can see the opposing servers are no better off, I’ve chased people through the middle of the enemy zerg and stomped them with enemy players just scattering out of my way – and I’m playing a mesmer.

It’s a mess.

Just try to remember how you were like when entering wvw for the first time. Thats them right now. I have stomped more legendary glass cannons today than i think i did the whole last month. But those will learn too. Just don’t expect them to have the same knowledge you got after hours of playing.

And for the queue problem:
low population servers —> no queue ; overall skill after entering —> not the highest
high poulation servers —> long queue ; overall skill after entering —> not the highest

Think the engi is overall pretty viable these days. From what i heard i can be traited for good dmg output for pve regards, your builds a usefull for even more than one role in spvp and every roaming group will be happy to have a good engi with them too.

And when you others where talking about useless skills. Ok, turrets might be broken but at least you saw people use them. On the other hand i haven’t seen the personal battering ram skill for over a year and that time i used it to see how its like and decided that i ll better not use it

I stated cloaking device as anti bunker as you lose control of points while stealthed. So while it might be a usefull trait for other builds it is just something you really dont wanna happen if you are playing the bunker in your team

For wvw and fractal matters the infusion slots coming with the ascended would sure come in handy. Also there is some rifle builds that don’t use kits too much. Other than that i can’t think of a reason why you should craft an ascended for an engi if you have other chars waiting for one too

Fact that this is only a pve crying thread is seen as there is no one pointing out that doing a fractal actually will take every wvw player longer than i takes to get him 2 wvw lvls.
It would take me ages to do those kitten “4 events in ascalon” or whatever as i neither go to ascalon ever nor do i know which events to do there to get done quickly. On the other hand you can easily get done with all wvw achievments a day in under 1 hour if you aim for it (not to talk about many other daylies that can be done i wvw too). And DON’T tell me that you get your pve achievements done without aiming for it. I wanna see you suddenly appear at the end of a jumping puzzle and such.

But you know what just make it 1 lvl anet. The faster the achievment grinders leave the wvw servers the better.

Big thank you to anet for the free transfers to medium servers, I can now log on and wait for 1+ hours instead of logging on and being able to play wvw on a decent wvw server, which used to have an overall pretty nice and friendly community. This has greatly improved my gaming experience.
I really appreciate the new high population. I fell in love with the long wvw queues (instead of the short to non-existent ones) and enjoy the massive amount of advantages (aka none) for the remaining content (pve and spvp) . I think it was a great idea to announce the introduction of a wvw league and reducing the cost for transfers.
Piken Square used to be my favorite server, well thanks again anet – you ruined it for me.

Guess I will have to leave to everyone behind if I want to be able to play instead of wait, so is there still any server who has no (or very short ~5min) wvw queues in the evening/prime time?

I think half silver league hasn’t all borders queued even in prime time and besides that you dont have this massive skill lag either. Not to talk that people could join one of the four servers still rated as mid populated.
Big plus is that you dont have that much skill lag either (like against for example vizunah -.-)

I tried to read this whole thread but after one side it got to much for me. You ask people for their opinion but everytime you get one exaggerated your answer is “you didn’t get it” or “your opinion is bullkitten”.

I could tell you know that there are quite alot of builds that easily burst down a d/p in seconds if he is stupid enough to get out of stealth and then going their way as nothing happened but you dont seems to want to hear that.
What kept me speechless anyways was the fact that you claimed that if YOU run away you accomplished anything. Fact is that if you run away your enemy wont stop doing whatever he was doing before (you have to kill him for that) and i can only talk for me but my engi burns down a camp in under 30 seconds. So if you disengage i ll just start emptying the camp i m aiming for and by the time you come to down me while fighting the guards will either be dead already or keep me rallying and i have yet to see a d/p thief that can keep anyone from capping an empty camp.

I think what helped me most is to learn all builds and skills classes can use. Like that you know what your enemy might come up with and which attack animations cry for a stun or dodge.
Another thing that i see lots of new players do is to throw their weapon skills or utilities on cooldown without reason. Like using stuns on auto attacks.

For the fact that you had easier times killing in spvp. In wvw some people tend to run with maxed food buffs + stacks. While others don’t even have full exotic armors. You ll have to take this in account too

BTW: Viz has more roamers than you’d think and is enjoyable to smallscale with offpeak. Give them a chance, they give good fights and are friendly in the forms.

Hopefully what i have seen at this reset is not what roaming is like on vizunah as it is the same “lets run away till we get back to our 5 man group” i have witnessed from piken as well. But lets wait till the weekend is over…

Seems ok to me though you could maybe get more durabilty by traiting into automated response instead of bigger bombs radius. I for myself love tool kit but thats just a preference.

The only things i really cant understand why any bunker engi would trait cloacking device. Cloacking device is like an anti bunker trait while elite supplies or stabilized armor would be really usefull traits instead.

Looking for a WvW solo camp flipping build?

As already said flipping a camp isnt really an issue. You can kill all guards of a non upgraded camp easily in 30-60 seconds with every profession if you group them up by moving behind objects. On the engi i just pop bombs and throw the grenades till everythings dead.
Only thing that wasnt meantioned till now and what i do is to step behind an object and then after all guards piled up i move a little behind. Like that you dont get caught in the scouts blind fields while you still hit everything.

Build wise i use rabid gear with 10/20/20/10/10 which is more defensive as many other engis run as it seems. Furthermore i have elixir gun, bomb and tool kit (only changing for camps) equipped. But on the engi its more the skill cap than your traitings that will get you killed or keep you alive.

The amount of handholding between FSP guilds is ridiculous lol.

Or maybe PunK like to follow the other guilds because they can’t handle on their own..

And this comes from a server where the guilds like teo, inc, ht, chvc and randoms with 8 golems (maybe there were even more) failed hard taking garrison. Maybe you have to hold each others hand just harder next time.

Thats actually pretty funny as we chvc had exactly 10 people with each 15 supply. So we build 3 guild golems and smashed through your outer gate. After that we were hoping for one of the other guilds to get down inner but it somehow didnt work at all -.-

Still was a nice night and thanks to all fsp and uw making it one. This is definetly a good match up this week.

I never played really a warrior but from what i m seeing now they finally stopped being the joke of gw2 and thats all.
In my opinion hearing alot complaints about wars is only the result of people not even considering losing to a war after months of steamrolling every possible build they had. Those builds that use melandru runes and -40% condition duration food still die through direct dmg and the stunlock builds suddenly stop critting too if you pop stability. You just can’t kill every war build with any setup you run into them anymore… and thats basically how other classes always have been.

So i’d say the war finally made it to the state of a viabe class even outside of wvw zergs. There are still some skills (like the already mentioned kick) that are completly useless but thats the same with every class.
