We did have a few people xfer to TC last week, not sure why though (and I doubt they’ll stick around for too long.)

I’m not sure how much YB’s WvW crew has changed in recent days, but yeah, I fully expect YB to take 1st and TC to take 2nd this week. (I don’t like YB much, personally, and i’d love to see them in 3rd place by the week’s end- but I seriously doubt that’s gonna happen!) =P

Good luck to CD, I think you guys may have a slightly more difficult time against red than us.

Well, that’s it for me., I am going perma-invisi thief. That one perma-invisi from TC thief manage to held an entire group off capping the point for more than 20 minutes. AoE does’nt help because thief can get out it fast.

Hahaha, I remember doing that at Golanta Mill for about 15 minutes a week or two back. Hilarious. XD

So I was doing the jump puzzle in one of the borderlands just now.

I open the door.. approach the chest… and as I slowly open the lid……
out jumps an extremely squishy, green elementalist – and he starts whipping me in the balls. “p’tch! p’tch!” lmao!

He made me laugh so hard that I decided to leave him alive, to prey on other, unsuspecting TC puzzle-goers. XD

In other news, I’ve been thoroughly engrossed with that Lunatic Inquisition game, (I bet a lot of other people are hooked on the Halloween event stuff as well. Normally, we’re a lot more fun in WvW. </3

I was, however, running around Umber last night, had a few good 2v2 fights; which quickly turned into 2v3, and then 2v10 – which was still good fun… (Though i’m sure it wouldn’t be nearly as fun if I weren’t a thief.)

I lag all the time in WvW, sometimes even in a 1v1 fight outside of SM. To be fair, some of the time it’s my ISP, but a lot of the time it’s not. It’s not as much of a problem on my ranger, but lag really hurts thieves because they have to be a lot more precise with the timing. (and lag really messes up the #3 shortbow skill for both classes, but that skill seems to be much smoother than it was a month or so ago.)

I don’t mind the jump puzzle, because i’m too cheap to pay for patterns.

I’ve never had any problem with stuns, nor with any stability-related disable. Immob kittens up my thief, and immob kittens up my ranger; i’m betting it kittens over a lot of other classes as well.

Historically, classes seem a lot more balanced here than in other games. Mesmer and Thief are a bit of a piss-off (which is why I started playing the latter), but everything else seems pretty good.

Right now, all I care about is getting the game as smooth as possible. Lag spikes are an almost-guaranteed death sentence, unless the person you’re fighting is undergeared or just plain terrible; there’s not much point in playing, if all you can do is die, look bad and rack up a repair bill.

a 64-bit client would be lovely, btw. The game seems resource-starved in a lot of areas, despite that it’s only using 10-20% Ram/CPU.

There is absolutely no reason why a Thief can spend 90% of a fight stealthed while having the best mobility in the game.

It’d be more like 25-30% of a longer, more drawn-out fight. (well technically 90% if the fight if over in under 3 seconds, lmao!)

I play as a thief…
and IMO
one way to stop the mimimi about thieves is:
Make the “invisibility” just translucent, i mean from afar would and should still hard to get the thief, but at blank point a good player would see the difference on colors.

There’s also the lack of targetting, but completely invisible while not moving and a faint outline while moving would probably help a lot of people. I can state for a fact that I would no longer be able to poke a mob of 10+ WvW’ers in the butt, and then make a clean get away.

It’s mainly the stealth and their the ability to heal – in tandem with those silly numbers – If you were pushing that much damage out on a ranger, or some other class, it wouldn’t really be so much of a problem because they’ll also be flimsy, and they can’t hide at all, so they’re pretty much screwed.

I leveled Ranger to 80, thought it was decent enough and I enjoyed that class for a while… Then, I decided to give thief a try! So, I get that one to 80… and now, no other class seems playable to me, because they’re just all so blatantly inferior.

(well except perhaps for mesmers, as a thief, they’re far more challenging to kill than any other class – and i’d say that’s mostly attributed to the fact that (surprise surprise) they can also vanish on you.)

I’m playing a condition thief. The damage sucks, but only reason I picked it was so that I could kill just about any other thief; therefore, the only classes that prove challenging are engineers/mesmers, and I kill those the majority of the time, so i’ve yet to run into a hard counter.

(Also, I thought my ranger was at least a good roamer… but then I realized that thieves can get infinite swiftness, and that it compliments them (as a class) the most.)

In terms of utility, damage & efficiency, they’re definitely the best class.

Thieves are the only glass cannons with on-demand surviability.. while other classes die when they play bad, a bad thief can simply run away and stealth. There is no punishment for thieves for playing bad… they can simply reset the battle and engage you again.

Most of their skills have a relatively short cooldown as well, using mine as an example:

6 – 30sec
7 – 48sec
8 – 48sec
9 – 30sec
0 – 45sec

You can just run away with infinite swiftness, re-engage fully refreshed after they’ve used some of their big cooldowns. ^^ My ranger doesn’t even come close to my thief in terms of kitten-kickery.

I got to the top about an hour ago (i’ve been up there at least 10 times before anyway) and it let me in for like… 0.5 of a second, and then it kicked me back to the lobby. XD

It’ll still take a while to pick up on little tricks and what not, like:
-memorizing all the hiding places.
-memorizing where villagers spawn after jumping off the edge (you plant traps there, and then chase/fear them off a cliff.)
-how the 6,7,8,9,0 skills function, ect.

The only two stats that appear to have any effect are Vitality and Power. So going to the Mists and choosing either a Soldier or Knight amulet appears to be the way to go depending on your play style. (2300 more HP -vs- hitting villagers 417 harder with #1.)

Heck, armor doesn’t appear to have any significance either, I was hitting light/medium/heavy armor wearers for set figures of; 2285; 2536; 2756, and I was getting hit for the exact same value regardless of what I was wearing (So now I just run around naked instead of having to wear the ugly brown armor.) xD

Best event ever.
So freaking awesome and fun because
1) you get loot
2) it’s a challenge but not too hard

Yeah I love it, i’m hooked on the Lunatic Intuisition game. The clocktower may have taken an hour to complete, but after you’ve done that once, you can finish it just about every other try without too much trouble. (It’s all memory and focus, not so much reflexes.)

(I pop AoE-swiftness to make things 33% faster, it makes the jumping indescribably easier for me (though apparently not for everyone else!) XD

I usually rage quit on puzzle and jumping games
but this one was fun when I was failing it with same people for hours >.> I got it and then went to do it again and again and made some friends …. really happy about this

After a while of attempting it with the same people, I began cracking random jokes during the first, brief pause – to see if I could make anyone laugh themselves off the edge. xD

Switched to my alt, and made it in first try…

But then I swapped back to my main and made it in twice without any problems, so yeah, it’s definitely latency-related.

Well , i only did 1 per char i got , so 3 times , cant confirm it myself.

Doesn’t seem too bad to me. My only complaint is that I can’t use the #6 heal skill without copping a kitten fit from 1/3rd of the other people attempting the puzzle.

(If you have 6 Centaur runes, then you get a good 10-15 seconds of swiftness when you press 6 (even though it doesn’t cast the heal spell.))

Without the swiftness, I fall short on a lot of jumps.

I don’t recall ever having played against SoR… I think we played against ET once before though, a little over a month ago? They seemed like a reasonable server at the time. I guess i’ll have to dick around with a few SoR guys on the field and see what they’re like. Set random tripwires, watch people faceplant; hide behind trees, shoot people in the kitten and then run away — this week should be funny.

I’d much rather own nothing and have droves of hostiles running around to practice against, as opposed to owning everything and having nothing to do but gather materi-lol, a green thief just nuked me down to 3k health while I was typing; I tabbed back into the game, dropped him on his kitten and then just walked off without even bothering to stomp him. XD

Anyway, yeah – the match looks all but decided, but I think i’ll have fun this week.

TC was pushing up into FA pretty hard last night while BG was doing the same, so not sure what you were expecting. We understand the dynamic, but when you push up into our territory so heavily while BG does the same, we’re not going to sit there and allow it.

After green had wiped everything red off the EB map, they shifted a lot of their attention back to us. As blue, I can safely say that we routinely hit orgath & pang to keep the pressure outside our third of the map.

I was in there for 14 hours yesterday, and when green started pushing us hard, red retook most of their towers and then pushed down, taking Umber, Durios and Brav. When we managed to stabalize, we made a push in two directions; hyleks/Gol, and multiple failed attempts on Klovan; as well as a push north, where we took pang/OWC, and then we snuck into FA Overlook and wiped everything, after allowing green to bash down the doors for us.

I even asked in team chat specifically “if red continued to hit us after taking dur/brav.” Our guys said “yes.” That’s partly why we pushed north.

Any obtainable masks like this one in-game?

A few groups in EB on our end have been half-heartedly trying to give FA opportunities to get back on their feet, but looks like they’re struggling far more than what we are atm.

I was looking forward to versing FA this week, but green’s numbers are all but overwhelming. Sadly, I think we’ll be spending the majority of this week trying to retain/defend as much of our territory from green.

You also have a lot of people who came to the server not to roleplay, but because they enjoy the atmosphere and community that roleplayers usually bring about based on past experiences and enjoy just being apart of it.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I decided to stay here. The roleplaying community is generally a far more pleasant one. (Coming from a PvP enthustiast, who hasn’t partaken in anything inherently RP’ish for well over a decade!)

Also, I’ll never forget that moment after transferring and logging in on TC for the first time…
First three words that I see in map chat: YIFF – BRONY! – PINKYPIE!@
wtf.. what is this place?? these people.. omg, I think I picked the furry server…. ._.

I later found out that it was the “unofficial RP server.” They were kicking kitten in WvW at the time as well, and I had a gut feeling that the majority of the players there would be friendly/humorous/fun to be around. So I stayed.

But then there’s Tarnished Coast. And it’s filled with the RPers.

I like playing for the underdogs in PvP, and the RP community always comes across as such! I’ve had a lot of fun helping you guys kick butt.

Dragonbrand did well enough and held for a considerable time, so to call them a “no show” rings of an excuse to me. Dedicated players of your server played hard; that is, if I am to understand, the one’s who didn’t give up. I am sure you were among them.

You should’ve seen them yesterday in EB, they pushed all the way up, took our keep and then proceeded to half-heartedly spawn camped us for a little while. I thought someone from TC must’ve said something snarky about them on the forums, ’cause those guys looked seriously kitten ! xD

2/3rds of the zone was blue; they had +245; to our +35; I thought they were going to make a last minute comeback.

Hats off to TC and CD for being brutal opponents this week! It was fun. and to those WvW “guilds” on DB that basally quit and gave up on Tuesday, shame on you. These guilds have now decided to pack it in and run away like little girls (Heads up Sea of Sorrows they’re headed your way) Best of luck on you’re new server and please don’t try to come back as you won’t be welcomed.

That’s great! SoS was already my most disliked server, (I think they’re similar to DB, but with less “bad sportsmanship” issues.) Hopefully, it just consolidates a significant portion of people that I dislike into one server… <3

Anyway, if that’s the case, then I expect TC will liekly be seeing a lot more of SoS in future matches~

I think dragon brands orb hacker has been hopping server to server to hack orbs after they knew the game was lost to make other servers look bad. FA was complaining about the db orb hacker, and right before the wvw reset the night it happened right after the reset with TC I said something about db hacking orbs, then 10-15 minutes later tc hacks an orb (I also think db had a spy). Then it was around a day or two later or so I seen forum posts about CD hacking orbs.

This match has been a dream match, tc and db at the same time I’ve played a lot this matchup gotten nearly 400 badges so far.

Wouldn’t surprise me after everything that’s happened. Wasn’t everyone saying that DB sent someone over to run our golems out of the keep and then have them killed?

Eh, whatever. I agree, all in all, I think this has been a great week.
Hope next week is as fun as this one was for me.

I had a few queues on TC during the first 2 days, I had to wait 45 minutes in one case; I hated it! No queues during the last 4 days for me though, and we’ve also had the outmanned buff popping up for us pretty kitten frequently. (I’m oceanic, so I guess that stands to reason.)

I’m guessing it allows a certain (fixed) number of people to join, (say 40-50), and then something like 10-20 more than the server with the lowest population? shrugs

Also, I just had a fun time testing out an experimental ranger build against an Ele from CD about an hour ago. 10 solid minutes of smacking eachother about. S/he kept on ducking inside of SM through the kitten teleporter on the east-side wall, Then suddenly.. there’s 3 people hitting me… 4 people hitting me… “Whoa, $#!^ – time to run!!” I blow CotW/RaO, do a 180º LR, whip out the greatsword and then swoop the hell out of there! XD

…They gave up one hell of a chase, too!

Dragonbrand was playing for 1st the entire match and constantly being harassed by TC the entire time. In some cases TC went out of their way to take DB supply camps and towers. I don’t think you were working for CD, but you might as well have been. The whole point to 3 teams is so that 2 and 3 team up when 1 gets a big lead. Instead your server immediately started playing for 2nd and DB began having to fight 2 opponents intent on removing them from the game. It’s this mentality that makes the 3 team system not work.

TC was playing for first, right up until the point that we realized the odds of us walking away with 1st palce was highly improbable. (That was about half way through the match, so by no means did we “immediately” play for 2nd.

in the EB: Days 1-3, CD applied constant pressure to spend/anz, while DB repeatedly hit org/pang/speld; the fighting was mostly 1:1:1 while each server assessed and tested the others, and it took a while for things to stabilize (which is why SM was initially a fight between blue/green – DB and CD fought over it constantly, and TC mostly waited for an opportunity to sneak in, wipe everyone and steal it from both sides; we had too much pressure on either front to be able to do much else.)

Also, a lot of TC naturally dislikes DB – For example, if I see a guy from DB and CD fighting in the jump puzzle, I shoot the DB in the back of the head and then just walk right past the other guy. (It’s by no means an alliance of any sort, just read this next quote.)

Your server showed its colors during our first meeting, not just wiping us out, but being little kittens about it too.

DB has an extremely poor sense of sportsmanship. It became apparent to a lot of us the first time around, and I don’t really feel that much has changed on their end come this match-up.

I just want to point out how utterly bad CD players are even with 3 orbs. The trick is the catch them without the zerg

They were probably all level 15’s.

Most of the CD guys i’ve bumped into have been fair-to-great players, regardless of orbs. If I see one going 1 on 1 with someone from my server, then I sit back and watch how things play out; if a second CD guy decides to join in, then it’s time for me to smack some face! (This usually ends in a 2v3, but it’s still pretty fun.)

We’re doing a fair job thus far (TC), especially 14 hours ago in EB, where CD had us pushed back to the first door in Overlook. (I think that particular siege lasted a good 4 or so hours?)

Everyone was messing around at first, and there was absolutely zero coordination (I was trying to clear the anz vista, treb SM and then unsuccessfully run in to solo the CD treb when the wall dropped) but when our outer-wall fell and the inner-door got repeatedly smashed open/repaired, everyone kinda dug their heels in and started working together. No commanders were present during that time, you guys managed that all on your own – and if we can conjure up the same initiative we displayed back then more often, then we’ll become a much better server in the long run.

I just wanted to say good work, and thank CD for putting us in that situation! (Not only was it a fun & challenging learning experience, but it was a big morale boost for a lot of people whom you forced to cooperate.)

There is no point keeping wvw open when you have invisible armies and constant orb hacks. The ladder serves zero purpose when the game is not working. Shut it down and fix it.

I’m……… actually happy with this….

If they need to bring it down for a day or 2… even 3? Just to get it functioning at an adequate level. I just can’t believe we’ve had this regression.

Agreed, it needs to be shut down until they manage to come up with a workable solution. However long that’ll take (and however bored i’ll become in the meantime.)

Hell, the ladder serves little purpose when free transfers are still available, everything else just adds to the pile. What’s stupid is that it’s not even an “army,” there’s 6 people apparently next to me and I can’t see any of them; but I can see every single ally/enemy pet in a 30v30 zerg, no problem..?

1000 badges would only take a couple days to get, maybe a week, tops…
Plus there’s no way that 10 badges are the equivelant of 1g, either.

Alpha golem = 1g or 100 badges, so
Commander = 100g or 10,000 badges.

That sounds much better.

Also, the monetary option is by far the better one; most decent commanders get their title via donations, which means that they’re usually well liked, and that they have to be reasonably good at what they do. Even if they just straight-out buy it with their own gold, and they suck at being a commander, it still functions as a very effective gold-sinc.

I’d rather get my badge gear, and then spend my badges on siege schematics while earning gold; not the other way around. WvW is also about coordination and teamwork, grinding badges is something we do entirely on our own.

What? … Define “we,” Lmao!

I like CD for a few simple reasons:
1. They’ve shown good coordination skills,
2. They’ve responded bloody fast in most situations (really keeps us on our toes),
3. Fairly skilled in combat – i’ve had a few good 1v1/1v2/2v2 skirms when I fell behind the zerg, or stopped to help a team mate.
4. I’ve yet to encounter any CD camping the puzzle (I’m sure you have, but i’ve yet to see it happen – I can’t help but respect that.)

Based on what i’ve seen, I think CD deserves first place – and in the off-chance that TC doesn’t place 3rd – I look forward to hopefully facing you guys again sometime in the near-future.

…Same can’t be said for DB, at least not from my end – we’ve faced off against you guys previously, and there’s a fair amount of animosity between DB, and the majority of TC who remember that match. Personally, I’d love to put DB in 3rd place this week, but I seriously doubt that we’ll be able to conjure up the numbers required in our borderlands to pull it off… Hell, for all I know, CD’s performance could diminish severely during the next 5 weekdays; if that happens, then DB has a fair shot at first place; while TC is almost guaranteed to come in a close (within 40k difference) 3rd.

Anyhow, this has got to be the most balanced round of WvW that i’ve played, and i’ve really enjoyed our match-up thus far.

The thing about about TC is, yeah we could focus on “easy points,” but what would that achieve for us in the long run? If the choice is between forging our forces by getting them experience against the toughest forces we can fight or fluffing around for second place, it’s a no brainer. We haven’t improved so drastically from the last time we fought DB for no reason after all.

Our main problem is lack of numbers during off-peak hours, and how overly-reliant we are on “zerg leaders” to remain functional. I say “zerg leader” because realistically we should have 2-3, possibly even 4 commanders running around with their own little attack/defense/supply/flank groups. (We make do with what we have, and i’m generally pleased with how we’ve performed thus far.)

Our commanders are extremely pressured this match-up as well, btw. They need to think and react much faster, they’re far more prone to making mistakes. All things considered, they’re holding up extremely well~

I think it’s a good idea. I dunno about everyone else, but joining an order was a massive kick in the balls for me. I felt a sense of familiarity/belonging with my little group – which the storyline then tears away – forces me to join one of three orders(none of which I particularly liked), and effectively writes my warband out of the game entirely. (My “sparring partner” sits in the Heroes Canton with a whopping 3 boxes of dialogue, I can’t even talk to them!)

Whenever i’m out exploring, and my character says: “Can’t wait to tell my warband about this place!” I can’t help but think: “You don’t have a warband, you abandoned them!” XD For all my future characters, I’m just gonna drop the storyline quests around level 30; they’ll ask me to pick an order, i’ll zone out without choosing and then just leave it at that.

If I could summon them with this ability, then maybe I wouldn’t feel as if i’m totally abandoning them? xD

what happens if someone over-levels their personal story, and has access to the ability while actually doing personal story quests that involve your sparring partner. Would you then be able to have two Reevas running around with you, or whatever?

They could disable the ability for every storyline quest prior to joining an order.

Because 15 people running around with Reeva or Maverick or Dinky wouldn’t make sense. It’d be nice for it to be warband members from the personal story but because so many people will have chosen the same Warband member it would break the bounds of any form of continuity the game may have between player-characters.

I like Euryale/Clawspur… and Reeva, (everyone likes Reeva.) >.>;

Simply have the NPC name show up as <XX Legion YY> for everyone other than the player, much in the same way that WvWvW names show up as <XX Invader> or <XX Beast>

GW2 sound issue with Creative X-fi?

I’m using SupremeFX X-Fi.

This never happened to me for the first 10-14 days of playing. When I first noticed it, it was only happening once every 2-3 days; now (and for the past 2-3 days) it’s been occuring anywhere from 6-10 times a day. Once or twice was tolerable, but this is beyond a joke… It’s making the game almost unplayable for me. =/

1. Log in.
2. Sit in town for 20-40 minutes, waiting for WvW queue to pop.
3. get 5-10 minutes of gameplay (an hour if i’m -really- lucky) before sound/game crashes.

Rinse, repeat.

It doesn’t seem like something hardware related, it’s only the GW2 client that screws up. (Media Player works fine in the background somewhere amongst the incessant ringing sound.)

Audio Problems with all storyline conversations.

It’s happened at least a dozen times for me, and i’m only up to the lv(14) part of the quest chain.

Charr>Female>Blood>Euryale.

Also leveling an Iron Legion female charr, and that one’s having zero issues.

One test, which ran for roughly 41 min and 3 sec. I followed that up with a 1 min test, and then another 1 min test with “Xtreme burn-in” checked which yielded around 25-26fps.

It’s an MSi card – “GTX 670 (2GB 256-bit GDDR5/OC”
First time using something MSi for me and it’s been very disconcerting
(I normally stand by XFX.)

With all settings maxed out in GW2, i’m usually seeing between 40-59fps.
The first time I hooked this up and logged in, I was dodge-rolling around “Cursed Shore” and it was spiking from 60 down to between 2-7fps.

Just ran FurMark 1.10.1 for 40 minutes, and it sat on 56fps @ 87ºC pretty much the entire time with no problems…

Then I turn my computer off, boot it up again about an hour later and had to go afk for 15 minutes – so it was idle on the desktop with nothing running in the background – I come back and it’s crashed in exactly the same manner (cept the squares are red this time.)

Reboot it, came back to this thread, and then it crashes yet again in the middle of typing out this message (white squares again.)

I don’t think it’s stress related after witnessing that.

I’ve been using a GTX 285 since launch, which has been fine (only gets choppy in dungeons). So I decided to try the game out with the GTX 670, and within the first 10 minutes of play, my computer freezes; requiring a reboot. (I can just copy/paste white squares all over a random screenshot, and that’s -exactly- what it looks like, lmao!)

It’s happened roughly 8 or so times in the last 3-4 days, taking anywhere from 5-10 minutes, or up to 10+ hours.

Tested with the following drivers, clean install, crashed at least once with each:
GeForce 301.42 Driver,
GeForce 304.48 Driver,
GeForce 304.79 Driver,
GeForce 306.02 Driver,
GeForce 306.23 WHQL Driver (been using this one the majority of the time.)

Few random specs:
CPU: Intel® Core i7 920 @ 2.67HGz
RAM: 12GB Corsair (6×2GB)
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64)
MoBo: ASUS Rampage II Extreme
PSU: Silverstone Strider 1500w

I only research and then build a new rig every 3 or so years, so i’m a little out of the quo right now. A lot of people seem to dislike the 670 as well as the 680/690, so if I end up returning this one, any recommendations on a new card would be appreciated. (I was considering the Radeon 7970, as i’ve never actually tried an AMD card before.)
