how about less of this crap in the game and more lore/game fitting items? This garbage is why the game has lost its identity.

future racial gear

I wonder if there will ever be a future expansion on the current racial armors we have in game? There is a ton of concept art for all the races out there depicting various sets of armor or all three types that never made it into the game, most of which looks better than whats in game atm. Ive given up hope that all the placeholder gear in game will eventually be replaced, as it seems anet too have given up on it after so many years. The Charr race seriously could use more gear that actually fits and looks good on the model.

How did the game stray so far away from the concepts and closer to kpop asian mmo?

Its kinda bad, especially with the emphasis on clipping in the armor’s development.

I think that marjory and khasmeen (spelling?) are cliche and do not mesh with the new story. Marjory’s voice is terribly fake sounding.( her sister doesn’t even have the same accent.) The other characters don’t exactly have riveting story either. I feel that we didn’t need another lesbian arch and that they did it simply because of how media was at that point in time. It might have won them a pat on the back from the sjw and feminist communities but the story should have been more important. Faolin and Caithe were more intriguing than the typical latter. I’m sure i will draw fire from the people who think otherwise but it is what it is.

Someone explain how this is good.

A new player buys the expansion today after hearing the hype, pays 35-50$ for it and then when they get in the game they notice they have to pay to play each of the season 3 living story episodes, a feature of the game that tells the story arch of the expansion.

Why would you do this?

unhelpful fanboys like it, no new news there, but from a quality standpoint and time given to complete the armors, they are quite dated and do not fit the game art at all.

Legendary Armor: Feedback [merged]

My issue with the armor thats came out in the past 3 years is that it looks like armor from an older garbage asian mmo from 2006. It fits none of the themes or aesthetics in the game, it fits none of the races or even the mysts theme. It isnt artfully done, it looks cheap and overly tight to the model and stupidly spikey, and that’s just the HEAVY ARMOR.

the art team needs to reconnect with the gw2 world and themes and stop making lineage 2 trash for gw2.

I quit playing back before HoT released, i used to really enjoy the game up until the whole end of scarlet briar and the marjory/khasmeen ( spelling?) storylines , i felt that the whole lesbian mess felt cheap and like anet was just trying to ride the proverbial wave, and the living story dialogue was poorly done and voiced ( im a southern man and marjory’s accent was like nails on a chalkboard, also wth didn’t her sister have the same accent?)

Anyway what im trying to get around to is:

~ Is living story worthwhile now? did the disney writer start putting out some decent work?

~ is the state of the game in the same mess that it was in before? (meta pandering, where everyone ran the same builds and “zerker” was the go to or you were kicked.)

~ do they still favor putting junk in the cash shop instead of producing content and fixing bugs?

~ how fun is the expansion, and does it actually improve upon the game’s huge flaws?

I ask because after seeing NCsofts last earnings report, guildwars 2 and wildstar were thier two lowest earners, guildwars 2 being the lesser of the two. I would hate to put money into the game again only to have ncsoft pull the plug liek they threatened to before they started work on HoT. Also, how populated is the game now? My irl friends wont touch the game again after quitting, so noone i know still plays or will play. They were put off by the living story and the direction the game was going ( they felt it was targeted more for young teens and kids)

why in the hell would lore friendly items be ugly? how are they in game atm? Encourage the art team to outdo themselves, instead of cater to stupid items like modern clothing or those kittened wings.

The expansion is just adding ONE zone. the living story thus far has been crappily written trash anyways. Its like you tried to read between the lines but were speaking a whole different language.

As the title says, why cant we see more game and lore friendly items in the shop?

Or how about those 30 levels of the same skinned armor. Looks cheap.

Story quality/writing

I feel, being someone who played in the betas and heavily for the first year of gw2’s life that the storytelling has taken a long step back in terms of maturity and development.
We had a complex team of npcs to push the story, all with thier own problems and evolutions. Nowadays we have a new team of npcs pushing the story that feels as if it is written in a preteen direction. The two, Marjory and Kasmeer being the dominant npcs in such, are lesbians which would have been edgy half a decade ago, but now that dying horse has been thoroughly beaten by the media, and aside from that sexual preference should never find its home in the forefront of storytelling. The way Caithe and Faolan were written was very well done, and thought one could argue if plants could be lesbian, thier play of femininity leaves you to assume that thier relationship is just that. Did we really need a reiteration of the same type of relationship in the story from a different light? should it be in the game at all? no.

The other characters i couldnt tell you much about since they have very little in thier story to care about other than the fact that Brahm is Eir’s son.

What we saw before was this dynamic range of storytelling between the races, the tenuous friendship and pact of destiny’s edge. They were enemies by nature, friends by duty and in the end they were bound by something greater than both. We saw them split apart at the seams and dissapear into thin air, where it should have branched into all directions of content and story where we followed them all in thier exiles, and became further involved in bringing them back together despite thier conflicts for the better of tyria.
All in all, the new story feels as if it was written by an inexperienced feminist if i may be so bold as to say.

I think that they can do better than this and we, as players, should let them know instead of sitting in the sidelines. We all enjoy guildwars and we should expect higher quality and ( hopefully) more mature storytelling.
