Agony in "challenge mote" fractals bugged?

Well considering I had 151 AR, there should be no reason why the ticks were showing in my combat log as being almost 2k per tick. With my AR 3 stacks should have hit for MAYBE 500 per tick. 2k is WAY outside normal for that amount of AR. This was not my first attempt at an 80% heal reduc challenge mote. I know the drill.

Though I should note that on a second attempt today, the bug disappeared. I got hit with agony again, but it didn’t tick for 2k this time (and yes it was the same 3x stack). So I don’t know what was up with it yesterday, but it certainly was not right.

I stand by the fact that a 3x stack of agony at level 53 with 151 AR should not have ticked for 2k. Regardless, I don’t know if it was a one-off or what, but I hope it gets tracked down. I did bug-report it, but if it’s not reproduce-able that could be a problem.

Ah well. I got my challenges done for my final phase of my backpack so I’m happy at least.

So last night I was trying to do a challenge mote for the back piece and as soon as we got to the final boss (dredge 53) he was dropping 3x stacks of agony which shouldn’t have been a problem since the entire party had more than 150 agony resistance…and yet everyone was taking almost 2k damage per tick from it! I bug reported it since the challenge mote is an 80 reduction to healing, combined with this bug means that my challenge is impossible. Can someone else corroborate that this happened to them as well?

Auto loot can prevent it from looting properly. Make sure you have auto loot turned off and try again. Guildie got it first try when he made sure auto loot was off.

Astralaria 4 star chart: hidden garden

You need to wait until it’s night time (yes the cycle happens) but the hidden garden has it’s own skybox so ignore that it looks bright. Then follow the set of mushroom pads leading from the chest, up towards the Cantle of Light and it’s on the first flat platform up there (not at the Light, but between the Light and the Chest). It’s not bugged, just not as close to the chest as the description indicates.

So the thief…
It was supposed to be the 1v1 lethal killer. People cried and whined OP, and so it’s damage was nerfed. Then it became a stealth assassin, and people cried and whined OP, and so Reveal was added to all the classes. Then it became a slippery and dodgy assassin, and people cried and whined OP, and so Sword/Dagger boon-rip as well as Feline Grace were nerfed.

Now we have DareDevil which hampers our stealth abilities even farther, does OK damage, but nowhere near top, and our entire elite spec centers around an ability that used to be a master tier trait.

Our damage is lackluster, we have basically zero support, stealth is basically useless with all the reveal being given out like candy, and now today…stealth nerfed…our steal now needs a target. No more swiftness/boons from a non-targeted steal.

Every. single. class. mechanic. we. had. has. been. nerfed. into. oblivion.

No one wants us for raids, roaming in WvW has now been made even worse, fractals? Ha! There is absolutely zero reason to take a thief for anything.

I loved my thief. I really did. But this is the straw the broke the camel’s back. Nerf after nerf after nerf. I don’t even know which class to play anymore. I feel like the red-headed step-child because I actually dislike the rev, but it seems like that’s the new top-tier, good-for-everything meta. No one wants anything else. My other favorite classes? All trumped by the Rev.

ANet, can you please, PLEASE, give us thieves SOMETHING to work with here? All you seem to do is hand out nerfs to our core class mechanics, and it’s getting old.

Hero Point and Map completion

The one in the bottom left corner was swapped with the champ fight up by faren’s flyer. If you are still missing one check east of faren’s flyer across the vine about halfway up the spiral ramp. That one may be the one you need to commune with now.

My friend and I were unable to access the game for over an hour yesterday. the details …

On 10/28/2015 at around 6:30 PM PST after logging in I was at the load screen for Lion’s Arch for kittenual amount of time. A few minutes into my session I got a message in chat saying a new build was being install and my session would restart in an hour. However after just a few minutes I ported to the capital city in Asura, again long load times.

I finally got in but when I ported again after long load screen I would get a client disconnect error. This lasted for about 90 minutes. Finally got in. When I went to the new zone (from Brisban) the game was not very responsive. I would hit a command and my character would react about 2 seconds later making combat not possible.

After about 3 total hours I gave up.

Both my friend and I had a similar experience. He’s on the east coast (with a new high performance PC) I’m on the west coast. We even tried to guest on another server with no better result.

Worst part was there was no communication from Arena Net that I could find.

There was a major server issue last night and they had to do some major offline maintenance. That particular issue should be resolved now.

Chak Killer - Master

Took a couple friends and I 3 tries to get Chak Master. I think sometimes, some of the Chak bug into the walls and become untargetable.

Biggest issues are the crashing, and the lack of map rewards. I have Tyrian map completion and got no rewards for Verdant Brink. I am not finishing any other maps until they fix this. I hope the rewards for Verdant are given retroactively as there’s an item ONLY obtainable from completing that map specifically.

Yup. Partied up with a guildie. He was on his Rev, me on my Thief. I had Tyrian completion and he did not. We did all the same stuff in the map. I did not get map completion for Verdant Brink but he did. Support ticket sent to ANet and they confirmed that they are aware it is a problem and are working on it. No ETA.

Still a problem…I got this shield recently, but have chosen not to use it due to the VERY ugly clipping problem.

I hope for a quick fix, because I have preferred the old animation too, and the new wings animation is ugly. Please fix this, thanks!

I’m also hoping for a quick fix. I loved the wings before, even with the weird animation, but this new animation is so backwards I’ve had to turn mine off.

The animation now literally looks like its playing in reverse.

The original animation seemed almost stuttery, but it was at least generally flapping in the correct direction. The changed one seems to be playing in reverse. Normally the downstroke is what provides the push, and then upstroke looks more lazy or compact, on this new animation for some reason the upstroke is the one getting the huge push. Making it look like the wings would be flying you into the ground or up-side down.

Just wanted to also post about my weird bug with the placement. I was in an Overflow for Borlis Pass, and got third, third, second. My first “third” counted towards the achievement, but the other third and the second didn’t count it at all.

Not sure if this is related to being in Overflow, but hopefully we can get it patched soon.

Has happened to me twice.

First time: Fractals of the Mists, Snowblind fractal. Female Sylvari Guardian. Running down the ramps, tried to cut a corner and jumped too far. Defeated at the bottom. No biggie, guildie comes to rez me. As soon as I am rezzed, I take a step and fall to my death again! So I get rezzed a second time and then I was OK.

Second time: Sharkmaw caverns jumping puzzle in LA. Female Asura Elementalist. Made it down to the stalactites, but then it jump looped me and I came falling a second time. Didn’t die or take extra damage so it seemed OK. Then I jumped down into the water, landed in the water fine, seemed to survive, then BAM, insta-defeated.

I couldn’t even get to the boss…my group encountered the bug where the “escort the prisoners to the exit” portion stalls and we couldn’t proceed at all.

It appears that English is not your first language so I hope I am interpreting things as you intended.

1) Guests do in fact get chests from completing the events. Same as you would. This feature was supposed to allow friends to guest and play with each other and still get the rewards.

2) Kicking those guests who are there to play with friends would unfairly split their group. This is not an optimal solution.

My theory is that there should just be a hard limit in place on each map that says 75% of the slots are for home players and the last 25% can be guests. If home players get kicked into overflow (even with the 75% availability), then home players should get priority over the guests in the overflow.

However, ArenaNet has recently announced that they would be changing how the loot is awarded. It will no longer be “chest per character per boss” it will now be “chest per account per boss” as detailed here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Upcoming-mega-boss-chest-change

This should alleviate some people farming it for loot.

I wanted to add my 2 cents to the main thread but found that it was locked, and with no explanation as to why.

I may be overly optimistic, but it may mean that the problem is being addressed?

Either way, I’ve noticed the problem more and more lately. It’s getting worse for me as I’m running more and more dungeons and am constantly losing my target or spontaneously targeting allies, merely by moving my camera.

Please, please, please, give us the option to have right-click be ONLY for camera!

I may be just me, but this issue has gotten worse for me lately. I am losing targets and randomly targeting allies left, right, and centre. I use the right-click for Camera/Player turning since it’s far faster than A and D. In dungeons or swarms, this is TERRIBLE.

I’ll never fathom why two different functions were mapped to the same button…

I’ve noticed really terribly FPS problems in Lion’s Arch over the past couple weeks or so.

I thought it was my new video card, as I had just put it in and things started behaving oddly, but it’s only in Lion’s Arch. Outside LA I can get 80-90 fps, but in LA, I only get 25-30. It’s odd, and I’m not sure what’s going on, but moving around LA is a pain with all of the lag.

I also just about got dc’ed in Fireheart Rise a couple days ago as well. Lagged out to a standstill for about 20-30 seconds before finally coming back.

My server is Borlis Pass.

Res-ing already goes faster with more people doing it, and the res bar does not decrease (for fully KO’d players), so you can easily start a res, dodge an attack, then get back to resing and you will get them up eventually.

A: You can’t dodge right away from rezzing, at least it’s never worked for me. You have to stand first and then dodge, by which time you’ve been hit by an attack which is probably going to 1 or 2 shot you.
B: Then that’s at least 2 people not dpsing and getting hit without being able to block or retaliate. Plus the person on the ground who is left staring at a screen and feeling bad because they’re weighing down the party rather than rezzing at a wp and running back to help.

To me, that sounds like the opposite of fun.

I agree with Rizzo. I am not a “tank” type guardian, I try to be more support. Yet the AI of the enemies seems to aggro on me all the time, and I drop far more often than I probably should. I feel bad dropping and laying there like a useless pile of rags while my party is now without my boons and healing. Plus if they try to rez me, chances are they die themselves.

So am I forced to re-spec my guardian to be more “tank” style and less support? It certainly feels that way…but I don’t want to do that! This update is forcing me to play in a way that I don’t want to (I certainly hope that wasn’t the intent).

I guess I’ll play on alts for a while since my main Guardian is now wrongly-specced, and I’m not 100% sure what to do about it at this point.

Hard to give specific advice, but I will say that if you are a dedicated ‘supporter’ then you need to make sure that your team has some dedicated (or at least capable) ‘controllers’.

As a supporter you need to hang WAY back from the fight to prevent pulling aggro, and sometimes you will anyway so tricks like shield bubble, line of warding etc help a lot.

I am seeing a great deal of stuff on the forums complaining about getting attacked while resing. Honestly, that SHOULD be hard, so plan for it. Guardian reflect wall is a great tool when trying to res a downed or KO’d ally. Just plop it down and you can ignore projectiles and safely res for a little bit.

I can tell you that the first time through the Grawl Fractal, the final fire boss wiped our entire team (except me), but I was able to dodge, manuver and shield my way to resing 2 other members, who (with me still holding aggro) managed to get the other two up for an absolutely epic win that FELT REALLY GOOD!

Pretty much every class has a great toolbox, if you’re having trouble with a particular aspect of your playstyle, check the toolbox, maybe something will help.

Thanks for the suggestions. I plan on attempting to re-spec later. I’m just annoyed that my chosen play style now seems invalid and I have to re-think it all based on ONE change to the dungeons. Ugh…

I think the problem is, although our group is fairly balanced, we generally lack a warrior. The problem (I think anyway) is that we have too many glass-cannons and not enough tanks. We have necros, rangers, thieves, eles, guardians, mes and engis but very few of my group like the warrior…it’s kinda…boring.

I HAVE a warrior, but felt it was sorta lacklustre. I guess I’ll see what I can do about maybe tweaking my warrior for banners and boons and such to see if I can live longer that way.

It just upsets me that this update has essentially broken my main.

Wow…me and my (guildie) party just tried to run CoF Path 2. It is WAY harder than before…almost unreasonably so.

We are a very co-operative party, we collaborate via voice chat and we play together often. We can run most dungeons with a reasonable amount of difficulty. We have an entire party of people who are level 80 and 2 out of the 5 are wearing a full set of exotic gear, and trying to defend Magg while he’s placing the Bomb is STILL nearly impossible.

We tried it about 8 or 10 times and no matter how we strategized it, no matter who did what, or who kited where, or who defended who, we couldn’t get Magg to live long enough to place the bomb. The combination of the horde of Flame Legion on top of the MULTIPLE assassins that sneak up make this way too bloody difficult. My repair bill on my exotic armor after all was said and done was NOT worth what I got out of it.

I’ve given up on P2 and will run P1 from now on. The drops in CoF are no longer worth the repair bills.

We have two people who are level 80

end game content man…only 2 have even gotten to top level.

It’s a level 75 dungeon…so the level 80 players who DON’T have the exotic armor should be fine right? Well nope. We had an entire party of 80s (only two had their exotics). We should have been fine.

We can run Fractals! But for some reason now CoF P2 is harder than Fractals!

BUG: Mouse don't work if keyboard pressed

Some wireless mice/keyboards that use the same little dongle (the little USB key thing) will restrict the total number of inputs from the devices.

Are you using wireless mice/keyboards? I use a corded keyboard and a wireless mouse and I do not experience this issue at all.

If you go into the Settings > Control Settings and scroll all the way to the bottom, you can configure a key for “Stow/Draw Weapon.” If you set that and then use the key to stow your weapon, it will allow you to go back up to full move speed.

Me as well. I know it’s not my connection as everything else on the internet works fine for me. The error seems to indicate a problem of communication between the web server and the content server.

(The web server is just the “display” for the content, which is hosted on the “content server”)

Hopefully ANet figures out whatever is causing the communications issues.
