Planning to upgrade my veteran core account. Will i get a free extra toon slot if i get the digital standard ed or will i have to buy the digital deluxe ed to get one? Ty

I run full glass pirate 6/6/0/0/2 when runing with my guild on tpvp. Playing on the top 500s in tpvp. Thieves and mesmers will tear you apart but can be countered with good teamplay. Its a high risk high reward build which if played corectly can turn the tide in any team fight. Dueling will get some getting used to but is possible. Its harder to pull off on yoloqueue though since you can’t have any reliabke backup in that game mode.

I wanted to ask just to speed up my crafting for the new backpack. So say i have 2 character with lvl400 cooking can I craft the plant food twice a day or is the cooldown account bound? Thanks for the reply

OK ill be honest on asking this question. Im on the fence on making the legendary trident Kraitkin since all updates point to the downplaying of underwater combat. Heck the combat is wonky at best and they even removed underwater combat completely from SPvP.

I have The Gift of Mastery, Gift of Fortune and the precursor and all thats missing is the gift of Kraitkin.

Is there any chance, and I mean Im just making wishful thinking here, to have a revamp of underwater combat or incorporating it in the next LS? I understand that the current clues right now point to the Maguuma Wastes and not a Bubbles related LS but is there any reason for me to go on making this legendary when A net seems to giving the middle finger on underwater combat right now? Pity because the underwater sections are one of the most beautiful areas I’ve seen in the game.

There was even a time that a dragon Necro bunker was suprised he was downed by me while talking trash. Im pretty much surprised that when they get killed by an uncommonly used build they generate much more hate than usual

Speaking of PU mesmers/ Cloaked thieves, having superior AOE pressure is a real hard counter to them. Just make sure someone has your back.

Usual thing I do when the obvious elementalist killers (Mesmer/thieves) come and get me, I run up to my teammates and try to shake them off while putting aoe pressure. It usually works and the 1v1 freaks gets kitten on my refusal to engage on 1on1 (which is not your job).

Its called freakin team arena for a reason.

I have been playing SPVP non stop since the last patch and I’d say ive been loving it ever since. Ive tried out different builds and classes (have all been doing pretty good on my necro and warrior but what really shines for me is the pure DPS ele. Ive been maining ele since the beginning and been using it extensively in PvE, PvP and WvW.

Out of all the classes ive played, glass spec staff eles had created the most amount of rage in both solo and team queue. My guild/friends have taken out full out dragon/pheonix groups with this guy and winning/turning team fights but the hate it generates for me is even more than when im playing mm or terrormancer builds XD. They’ve called it a noob no skill build, this is not WvW call outs and calling us flat out cowards when we refusing to 1v1 thieves or other classes (which is a really bad idea to begin with when playing glass staff eles) while their faces are flat on the ground.

I just want to have a shout out to my fellow staff eles in spvp. I seriously feel eles are on a good spot now in spvp both d/d and staff variants. Your more fragile than a wet tissue paper and a freakin thief magnet, but hell with the right positioning/team play you can be a much wipe them all accross the board.

I just cant seem to know where this hate is coming from? Even more than using the FOTM cheese builds XD

After 11 months of playing casual – semi hardcore I have finally crafted The Bifrost It was quite the ride. In my quest for this legendary I was able to get my Dungeon Master title, found a really awesome guild, met a whole lot of amazing people and explored everything GW2 had to offer. Truely legendary indeed. Well except the precursor part. Eff you Zommoros :/ Used 520 rare stakitten to get my precursor.

Time to start another legendary journey with Kraitkin (Bought the precursor already)

Edit: Upon checking it registered as a failed Guild challenge. WTF? We got our commendations and everything and it still registered as failed?

Our guild “The Mailed Fist” [FIST] had a sucessful guild challenge run after 1 failed attempt. We got the branded ogre challenge and succeeded. Each of us got our commendations and weekly loot but sadly the 30 merits were not counted into our guild window and the guild mission tab says that the quest is still active

How come its not counted in yet? Can you guys please fix it and maybe at least give us those 30 merits? We worked hard for it and I think you have logs of these stuff since it is reflected in the Guild missions history.

This is actually a very good idea! Acts more of a trophy thing aside from the dungeon skins. Now I can find use for those tokens I have lying around. Heck throw in a achievement when you complete em all for good measure.

I’m a veteran pvp player but I mainly do pve/wvw now since coming from gw1, which had the best PvP game in MMOs in my opinion, I was pretty bummed out that gw2 did not live up to its structure PvP legacy. I welcome this change to get some new blood into the game mode, I don’t care if it’s just a temporary thing with the laurels, new blood is new blood. Let the PvErs have their rewards to give them incentive to at least try something new and bring life back to a dying game mode. Enough of this elitist BS. Its what killed GW1’s PvP in the first place.

Problem is, they’ll never have their reward alone. They must be carried to the victory in order to do so (the newbies in PVP). Some doesn’t even try to accomplish it, they just want their laurels. Now, I don’t have any problem with this reward addition in PVP, but you can’t really expect a veteran solo queuer to carry 4 -r20 lowbies against a r30+ team, or even a premade.

Well that is a problem, so unless they fix the ladders segragating solo queue tourneys from premades it will always be present. Removing laurels will only further bleed the playerbase in spvp with no new players going in. I suggest we keep it and just put in pvp skins that can be bought using laurels so appease some of the spvp die hards who dont pve so they have something to use em on.

i didn’t try replacing it with berserkers because i don’t know if that’s an appropriate setup for eles like d/d.

I tried 1 celestial amu + all berzerk ascended to reach 3k effective power while still having 15k hp with food and 19% damage reduction. Can anyone tell me their experience on all zerk/ semi-zerk builds on d/d WvW? Im running on Knight/Cav gear right now, loving the survivability and moderate damage but I’m thinking I could push the damage higher since I feel that I can dodge pretty good now negating the need for more survivability stats on WvW.

Im thinking of getting full celestial ascended trinkets on my ele to replace my rare Knight/Valk trinkets. Yay or nay? Need your expert opinions

You fail to see why people don’t want rangers in their group, of all the classes, they are the worst. Theres no way around it. They don’t bring anything to the table when it comes to HELPING the group.

No one is saying that rangers can’t do dungeons, they are saying that a different class like a guardian in the same hands is going to be better than a ranger hands down every time.

I did Hotw story last night with a ranger in my group, he had full MF gear and stood in the back auto attacking, he did nothing to help the group as far as boons, or dps or kiting but he made it threw.

The dungeons are easy as most have been solo’d already, but people like going as fast as possible and as easy as possible, you can’t do either with a ranger in your group because there not good at anything. Sorry boss.

Basing on theTS post it’s not a ranger is useless thread but more of tips for people stuck as a ranger and complain why they cant find dungeon groups or feel underwhelming. TS is right, stop complaining and find open minded people who you feel comfortable and fun running dungeons with and stick with them. Skill>Class. I’d take a competent ranger over a warrior who faceplanks in the majority of the dungeon. Makes it a whole lot better.

Its still fun running hard content but that’s just me XD Still finding fun running that torture chamber called arah even with newbies around.

I think it works like any other guild mission unlock although with lower unlock cost and lower merit/no merit rewards than the full fledged Guild bounty more suitable for new/small guilds.

I’d like to see an underwater dungeon. Well at least a dungeon with over 80% underwater sections at least. Water Fractal and HoTW p2p3 doesnt really cut it for me.

How ‘bout I tell you COF 1 isnt the only dungeon. Bring that zerk gear in arah and you’ll be destroyed in 1 hit if your not l33t enough.

I agree COF 1 is the easiest dungeon but you dont need to join those “WARS/MESMERZONLYFULLLZERKZ$$$PINGor KICK” to farm it fast. Fastest group I went in was 2ele/2thieves/1mesmer rocking 6 min. per run. I rarely join those elitist groups since they usually take more time than usual if you dont know em. Bring your guildies/friends and start your own group. Faster and more fun that way.

If your doing COF primarily, get full berzerker gear. It is all the pugs look for there atm. But if your planning on getting dungeon master and doing all the rest of the dungeons, you might want to get some PVT or knight armor with berzerker trinkets instead to help in survivability.

Dont be frustrated, you mustve picked bad PUG groups. Happens to the best of us. That’s why I dont run PUGs on arah anymore unless I have at least 3/5 guildies with me. Havent seen any changes to GL to be honest.

Giganticus lupicus bar none. He is probably the only boss that you need to prepare for. He is tough but the feeling after you down this big guy is the best.

I have no necro so I cant say for sure, but dont you guys have death shroud that soaks damage? You can try and use it to soak some of the more heavier attacks instead of dodging.

That 40% endurance refill rate is better than nothing I suppose.

And bout the distance, always keep your distance. Unless your l33t enough to face tank him. I know I’m not. I usually always keep my maximum range from him where my skills can still hit him at all times. Less AoE the farther you are from him

When your low on health and and most of the others are dead and your heal is on CD, just time your dodges and hope you get your heal in time. No way around it :P Says true to any profession. Use whatever skills you have to block/invulne until your heal is ready.

Sounds like a l2p/ issue. I’ve taken a lot of newcomers to the path and instructed them of each phase of the fight and had a pretty good success rate. As stated by most of the guys here already the key to this fight is preparation and the right skills.

Finding yourself with no endurance? = Trait for Vigor/Endurance Foods/

I usually dont dodge the mass aoe and just walk away from it if I can.

2+ people getting downed by an ohshi— moment? Use your warbanner/Earth Glyph Res

Getting downed while ressing? pop Invulne/Block while ressing

Trapped in the bubble? Use stability/invulne.

Low health and heals on CD? Disengage and go to the edge to heal.

And usually the guy being focused by lupi by the whole encounter? He usually has the most toughness stat. I swear our guardian with all exotic P/V/T armor trinkets always had his attention. ALWAYS. It pays to inform him before hand.

The fight should not be nerfed. It is perfectly doable and people should realize that the encounter isn’t the problem, they are.

I was on that boat once, but the day you learn to fight this guy toe to toe and down him is one of the best feelings you could get on this game.

My cleric and Knight’s set

Im up for an invite. Val Ravage (war) and Lilly Flamebush (ele) are my characters. I already have my dungeon master title and still interested on running other not so popular dungeons (namely anything other than AC and COF :P). I usually run with people in my guild on various dungeons and if we are missing some spots we could really use some good people to call Willing to help others on other paths including arah.

About me: I already have my dungeon master title but still need to farm Arah for some tokens for armor. I regularly run arah on my guild mentoring newcomer guildies.

Time: Whole day every Saturday

Willing to run with vets for tokens or help newbies on the runs

Dude the man is doing a service to the community. Please dont bash him of at least laying out the requirements to make the run the least frustrating for beginners (and him for carrying the team) on arah. Sure you can run in there with all greens/blues, but if your a new guy in arah its not a very good idea. You may be l33t enough for it but not all are that good. Full elites will give them some margin of error before they go down.

And if your farming Arah as a new player and failing, just to get your first set of exotics then your doing something wrong. We have AC/COF1 for that.

Me and my guild arent having much trouble at the no WP change since we use the forgotten res skills some classes have like Glyph of restoration (ele), Illusion of life (mesmer), Warbanner (Warrior). Couple them with invincibility skills, block, stealth they become real life savers, especially on Lupicus. And the only reason you can get one shot by Lupicus is either your running full berserker, you let him eat grubs, or dont have any vit/toughness gear.

Heck we even run PUGs on arah p3 no problem just by instructing the newcomers. It forces players to learn more about the encounter, what skills to bring and what traits would be useful. I still miss res rushing though.

Just completed this 2 hours ago with 2 GS wars (1 full berzerk, 1 valk/berzerk), 2 eles and 1 mesmer. Did the 4/5 trick. I am proud to say that only 2 of us were vets and 3 were newcomers to the path. Took us 4 hours. Here is what we did.

Us wars were using the following utilities Fury, Precision Banner/For Great Justice (for war 1 and war 2), On my mark, Signet of rage

Assign 1 dedicated tear thrower (least dps character) the rest dps.

1) At first we bring down its hp to 50% and setup 4/5 sparks and let it regen.
2) We bring it down to 50% again and one char takes one spark to drop its stealth. Takes 2 secs max if one camps one spark before Simin reaches 50%hp
3) Mesmer drops the Time Warp and all DPS Simin. Wars will use the fury stance when Time Warp is over.
4) Now you have approximately one minute to bring its hp to 1/4 from 50% so it would stop stealthing

I suggest you take into consideration that this is class has quite a learning curve (but not too much) and will take extra effort to equal the performance of other classes which take less skill to play (wars/guards). However when mastered it can be one of the best classes in the game. Dont let anyone convince you otherwise. It is not for everybody. Its not a facetank class so having a good connection and good twitch reaction will make or break this class especially in pvp.

I main an ele and have an alt war both with full exotics, and I still spend most of my time on my ele because it was so much fun! You will have to learn how to attune swap and not mindlessly waste skills to be effective as an ele. I see a lot of beginners eles (and even veteran baddies) doing this.

1. Is the class really as exciting to play as it looks?

- Yes, I learned the ropes with ele and it requires a more active playstyle compared to the other classes.

2. How high is the learning curve?

- A bit high but not too much. I strongly suggest rebinding keys for an ele to be effective to accomodate the constant attune swapping.

3. If I do roll one, what would be a good leveling spec to use?

- No idea, I just rolled with what I had. Got to lvl 80 way before guides on ele were made sorry. D/D and Staff are both effective. I usually went D/D for open PVE and staff on story/dungeons

4. Can you recommend a solid survival-based PvP/WvW spec?

- Standard 0/10/0/30/30 build. It works for both WvW and PvE on both staff and D/D with just swapping major traits.

I use exotic cleric armor with soldier trinkets with full dwayna runes for massive heals and condition removals while running D/D. The damage is pretty average compared to glassy specs but I outlast most classes simply by attuning to water and casting heals negating their damage output while removing conditions.
