I want an armor for playing the game instead of that gemshop bullkitten.
That would be interesting.
Well of Profane:
Small Healing Pulses + Summon a jagged Horror for every ally(or every enemy as well?) that died in this area. (max 10?)
Notes: Synergy with Bone minions and other Jagged Horror skills/traits and Death Nova. Could replace lichform in raids/pve which is currently just used for the minions.
Signet of Suffering:
Passive: 3 green orbs circle around you, healing allies they hit.
Active: Enhance the range of those healing orbs and their healing but uses lifeforce over time. (Signet Might Trait cooldown: 15seconds)
Notes: Healing Necro with Shaman gear (more lifeforce, longer uptime for the enhanced Healing orbs). Great for corrupting enemy boons and healing allies thanks to Signets of Suffering.
Inspired by Aurelion Sol from LoL: Spotlight on youtube

In addition to the on land Trident weapon for necro to summon (for short duration) mermaids that heal allies and inflict conditions on allies we could have a new healing and/or condition necro
Pro
- I like the pvp arena map (expecially the artwork)
- the new jumping puzzle was fun
- The story was fun (although i find azuras annoying and taimi was a big part in it)
- but the dwarf/skritt part in the story was hilarious
- nice lightning effects (sun) and the area near performance field with those earth elementals looked awesome (like a little stonemaze)
Contra
- the music on the new map does not fit the theme
- the map feels flat and oldschool, i prefer hot maps
- the thermal tubes feel kind of useless (gliding skills in bloodstone fen were fun and felt more usefull for example when fighting justicar)
- still the same maps in the pvp ranked rotation
I overall liked the new map and i am looking forward for new releases. Cant say much about the new legendary and the new heartquests because i dont like grinding.
Edit: I forgot the circus on ember bay. Does not fit in there at all in my opinion. Sometimes i hope Guild Wars would be a little bit more serious
(edited by Flowerpower.6795)
Yes i play the game since launch and know about lions arch and so on.
It just doesn’t have cruel or violent anti-heroes turning on their allies for personal gain.
I think that is exactly what i am asking for. I dont like this good/evil and nothing between stuff. I want those evil characters that turn on their allies and actually i want to do so myself if possible :P
I enjoy the new map but would never rate it higher than for example Auric basin
My favorite maps so far are the new lions arch and auric basin :P
But what i really like is that it didnt took that much time until the new map has arrived
Hello. Maybe its just me but i feel like the characters in GW2 and the overall theme is super friendly, without real intrigues and things like that.
I expected at some point that Rytlock kills Logan while they assault a Dragon and Rytlocks Warbands assault Divinitys Reach and burn it down at the same time.
Or the other way around. Nothing like this happened so far.
On top of that all human characters and most of the other races as well look like they were 16 years old. No old, no ill, no suffering characters.
Maybe the game is for a younger generation (i’m 25) but i really miss evil characters in the game. The game does really well when it comes to the cute and good characters but at the moment i cant stand more of them.
And the destruction caused by those elder dragons usually did just happen to the landscape. There are no starving people or dead bodys in the game.
I wish the game had a little bit more Game of Thrones feeling, where nobody is safe and a lot of the powerful characters are evil. I expected that at least from the charr but they´re just as friendly as every other race. When theres some trouble between the races its just talking. Nobody ever acts :/ If somebody is just a little bit evil enough, the Player kills him asap. I really wish i could ally as a charr with rytlock against the humans fighting players who picked human. Picking a race would be so much more meaningfull.
Btw nice new map. The JP was fun and a pretty good challenge. Sometimes i felt like the Maguuma Jungle Sountrack did not really fit the map but apart from that i had a lot of fun
Please consider my wish for evil Characters. GW1 had those as well. (im thinking of Shiro= old, scarred, evil character). When everybody is good and handsome, things get boring pretty fast x)
Both the kormir spec and the necro spec i was thinking of are not in the game.
Flowerpower.6795Why do they always come up with things that make playing the actual game pointless because you can skip big parts of the game.
I don’t see how your level makes a difference. You can still clear any zone, map the world, do events, do stories, whatever, at level 80. Sure, you may be a little over powered, but if anything you are more free to go where you wish and do what you wish. Just without having to upgrade your gear as you go along.
I started with a friend and being overpowered is just boring and ruins the experience for both player.
Heart of Thorns Killed My Interest in GW2

Different Experience for me.
I like every feature they added with HoT (Masteries, specialisation, vertical maps) and hope they dont got back to the flat maps and grind heartquest just because some ppl cry in the forum.
That they want to add heartquest in the new map is kind of a letdown already but ill play through it before i say sth about it
Spirit Shards could be used to unlock some Reward Tracks in PvP/WvW.
I think that would make sense. And to be fair, i think any level boost is just stupid. I could level more toons than i have characterslots. Started new with a friend that didnt play GW2 before and thats why i did not use my tomes. Leveling was kind of fun again but having those tomes in my backpocket ruins the experience.
Why do they always come up with things that make playing the actual game pointless because you can skip big parts of the game.
They should stop giving Tomes and lvl boosts at all and just give us shards that are used as currency. Reaching the max lvl was kind of a nice feeling back in the days and you learn your characters abilitys on the way to lvl 80. They should go back to this state in my opinion.
I like the Kormir thing.
And Trident for the Necromancer Specialisation summoning mermaids that slow/fear/chill enemies and heal allies :P
A skin no matter what game is not worth that much.
If you dont like to play the game and work towards it in the game theres no reason to get it. I dont think you will consider this money well spent in a few month.
Its your money but you should think more about your investments.
Thats pretty much the money for a holiday or a dinner for your whole family x2.
I like GW2 as well but buying a skin for that price is in my opinion dissipation.
Mhh rune of exuberance looks like it is better with sth like a tanky power build using soldier gear.
As i posted above i think the best thing arenanet can do is to implement new specialisations with those rare statlines in mind. This way they can push diversity in builds and stats without changing working synergies.
And the best thing i was able to come up with was that healing spec for the necro which scales his lifeforcepool via vitality to have more lifeforce which is used as a resource in that shaman healing/conditiondmg spec.
In addition the spec could use elixiers as the new type of skills which poisons the necromancer all the time to make a high vitality (max ehp vs condtions) conditionbuild viable as well for this spec.
It could be something like:
“Elixier of the XXX”
“Drink Elixier XXX and poison yourself for XX sec. Spitfire then becomes available”
“Spitfire: Spit the poison you just drank in a cone at your enemies transferring all your poison stacks to the enemies you hit”
Names are not final
Or to push it a little bit more into healing:
Drink Elexier XXX to gain resistance for every condition on you.
F1 + that elixier: Throw your Elixier at allies to heal them and give them resistance.
F1 could be a skill that alters your Elixiers and weapon skills for the new weapon but uses lifeforce while activated. Instead of a whole new weapon necromancer could get his mainhand dagger/scepter or whatever changed when F1 is activated to be a healing weapon. Actual i think there are a lot of interesting ways to create a support necromancer spec with shaman gear in mind
You can also check the Account & Technical Support Forum.
All i can tell i that the game is working for me so its probably something on your side.
Sorry i know that GW2 reinstall is a pretty big deal :/
The game is working for me.
Maybe corrupted files? Reinstall should fix that problem.
I dont think that new challenging content will really help. Some ppl will just finish it as soon as possible and then they complain again that there is no goal in the end.
I think tons of new skills will help the game a lot more because then you can start to experiment with your existing characters and try new builds in PvE, WvW and PvP.
This way the game would be fun to play again for most ppl who got bored.
Youre asking for a carrot on a stick aka grinding for a reward.. which is usually not fun at all :/
At least this is my opinion.
p.s. pls no more solo content. the game lacks interaction between players. just started new characters with a friend and we did not even reach lvl 10 because it felt like we were random guys who do the same quest. For example the summoned weapons from the ele could offer interaction between those 2 ppl who use them instead of just being another source of burst damage (icebow).
(edited by Flowerpower.6795)
Hi. Im just curious. The shaman prefix (vitality, healingpower, conditiondamage) does not suit any build i know. Did i miss something or is this old statline not used by anyone.
One idea i had was a necromancer healing specialisation using their lifeforce (as a resource like mana) to heal the team and/or doing conditiondamage. Lifeforce scales with vitality so it would offer more “mana” for the Shaman specialisation.
I totally would love to play as a vodoo necro that heals his party while doing conditiondamage
You can add me to the boycotting with my money and not going to purchase this expansion. I wanted GW2 to be a waaay better game then it is.
There are things i dont like about gw2, but if you play the game i can recommend the expansion. the expansion is a lot better than the core game
i really enjoy exploring the jungle
Gliding is really awesome. There could have been a little more Lore about it (maybe the pact fleet wanted to send attackers from above or someone important died bec they fall in the jungle and some asura then invented the glider.. something like that)
Gliding is still one thing i really like in the expansion =)
so I’m probably not in the best position to answer this as I haven’t played gw2 in a while – a little over a year, but I have about 4k hours in gw1 and played gw2 from the first beta before calling it quits 2yrs in, the recent expansion did get me interested in reading the forums again to see what ppl are saying, hence this response.
What I expected of guild wars 2? To have a much deeper character connection, I mean I really wanted to have a sense that my character was unique but not just on a cosmetic level, cosmetics are important but I don’t like the way anet prostitute cosmetics in this game, it cheapens the whole point of armour which should be one of the primary ways a players shows off their achievements.
in the same vain I also dislike their 1 size fits all race armour design, for me this and the cheap cosmetic tricks are the primary reason I don’t play any more.
I still remember getting on the hype train during development and thinking how cool it would be to roll an asuran golemancer, basically an asura who rely’s heavily on his golem, I remember thinking there would be all sorts of upgrades for golems and my imagination just ran wild with it, I thought the same of norn animal forms and the cool quests that would lead to gaining those special powers, I remember thinking in WVW we would see armys of golems colliding with armies of shape shifted Norn.
currently I’m playing arkham knight quite sparsely, ive been a backer on SC since mid 2014 (spent more money on that game than I did in 2 yrs of guildwars 2) never really played a space sim before but it really looks like the right ppl are behind the project, also BDO coming soon, ill definitely check that out, hopefully there will be an early access package before Christmas.
just to say, I don’t think GW2 is a bad game, it does have many good things about it, it just wasn’t the game for me, I truly hope the game stays successful because competition amongst developers is good for everyone
Your imagination of GW2 sounds so much better than the actual game xD
I really dont understand why the Races are so unimportant in GW2. They could have done awesome stuff and if the Races would fight eachother on the huge tyria map this game could have been so much better x)
The first thing that makes me think that choosing a sylvari for my main character has actual any effect was in the expansion… but its still pretty much “choose the race that looks the best to you” x)
I played Guild Wars 1 a lot too. Expecially Factions. I loved that one.
I totally understand why people are disappointed about GW2. I dont say its a bad game, but some things are horrible in this game and some of those horrible things are vital. For example the group combat.. lots of things in GW2 are desidgned for just one player and the group combat without trinity, but nothing instead of the trinity system is just zerging and boring. The problem with that is, if i want to play a singleplayer game.. i wont play GW2, i play things like the witcher. I tried GW2 with friends and it felt like we were running around together, but we never really felt like playing in a team :/
Another thing i am really disappointed about is… i saw a nice armor some days ago. I didnt know the armor and was like:
Either its some lore oriented stuff, like an armorsmith from cantha who was lost on an expedition in the maguuma jungle and if we save him he offers his best armor as a recipe or sth like that. Or its just another gemshop Item.
It was another gemshop Item.. the moment i saw it in the gemshop i lost any hope that GW2 will live up to my expectations. I like to explore the world, expecially the new maps in HoT, but anything besides exploration is bad and updates are usually just new gemshop items…
GW2 could have been a superior sequel. But it isnt.
At the moment i just explore the maguuma jungle a little but i usually play different games a lot more. Rocket League, Path of Exile, Limbo, Distance and Ori & the blind forest are all games i can recommend. I wont recommend starting GW2. In games like Rocket League i enjoy every minute of my playtime. In GW2 i enjoy some moments but its usually forcing myself through the grind because i set goals in a game i will not care about in a few years. Stupid me x)
Btw one more thing that makes a huge difference for me is, that most of my games i play with a gamepad, sitting on my couch and sometimes i do that with friends and playing Distance or Rocket League in splitscreen. While GW2 has this oldschool mouse and keyboard controlls which forces me to sit uncomfortable in front of my pc :/
This game needs controller support in my opinion. Maybe with the new Steam Controller?

Hopefully Anet will give us things like that short after HoT is released. If they gonna need years again before they release new spells and traits im not going to stick to this game anymore x)

Hello everyone. I really like how GW2 Classes now get kind of Subclasses with the new specialisation system. I usually play either my necromancer or engineer and i really like to play the reaper. The scrapper looks fun as well.
I really hope Anet will continue to give us new Subclasses and in this Thread i wanted to share my Idea for a new necromancer specialisation.
Feel free to post your own ideas about future specialisations.
Dont take numbers and Effects too serious, this is just a brainstorm thread
Necromancer Specialisation: The (tribal) Shaman
Role:
- supportive
- tanky
- conditiondamage
- Good with blood magic, death Magic, Curses and corruption spells
- close range
- PvP as usual: Counters conditionbuilds, has bad/no mobility. Good offensive support.
Minor Traits:
Minor Adept:
- Access to shield
- Mainhand dagger skills change
- Deathshoud changes to shamans sanctuary
- Access to Elixier skills
Minor Master:
- you take 30% less damage from Conditions
- you are immun to resistance
Minor Grandmaster:
- Gain condition damage based on your vitality (or healing power)
Other Traits:
- Whenever you take an condition from an ally, the ally gains resistance for one second and is healed for X.
- The necromancer uses shamans sanctuary when resurrecting an ally
- Dark pact applies 5 stacks of bleeding on you. Dagger skills recharge faster if activated while below the health threshold.
Skills:
- Shamans Sanctuary
Works somewhat like the guardian sanctuary skill. The necromancer protects himself and allies for the amount of his actual lifeforce(or twice his lifeforce?). Any direct damage done to him or his allies will deplete his lifeforce but not deal damage as long as enough lifeforce is left. This ability should be weak against lots of AoE damage (bec lifeforce will drop quickly) but strong against single target damage against allies.
It also pulses at the start and every 3 seconds, every pulse applies any deathshroud related traits (dhuumfire, unyielding blast…) while some are working as usual (e.g. rending shroud applies vulnerability to nearby enemies while the skill is used).
- Shield*
4: The Necromancer hides behind his shield for 4 seconds and gains protection. He still recieves damage but the attacker gets one stack of bleeding for every attack done.
5: The necromancer marks a target for 5 seconds. Within these 5 seconds every condition applied to the necromancer is copied to the marked target. 1200 range. Bond can be broken when out of range.
- Dagger Mainhand*
The dagger mainhand skills change.
1: Dagger attacks deal no direct damage but apply poison and regenerate more lifeforce.
2. can remain the same.
3. can also remain the same.
Utility Elixier Skills:
- Inflict 3 stacks of burning on yourself, refresh the cooldown of your healing skill
- Inflict 6 stacks of poison on yourself, gain protection
- Inflict weakness on yourself, loose all stacks of vulnerability
- Inflict 5 stacks of bleeding on yourself, gain two stacks stability
Healing Elixier Skill:
- Everytime you recieve a condition within the next X seconds, you gain X health.
Elite Elixier Skill:
- Transform into an XXXXX. Every (third?) Attack against an enemy sends one of your conditions to him. Lasts for example 6 seconds.
Ele could have something like transform into a large wave (like the one in lord of the rings 1 or nami in LoL) which knocksback enemies and cleanses conditons from allies.
Mesmer could transform into an untargetable small rock for 40 seconds until the mesmer does something (just to troll ppl in pvp).
The possabilities with the new specialisation system are so huge =)
I want more skills to choose from

Hello everyone. Please Anet add Combat Mode to your Game.
Thats pretty much all i want at the moment. I want to play Guild Wars 2 while sitting on my couch and playing with a Gamepad. Combat Mode fits Mouse/Keyboard as well.
The second thing i ask for is keybinding on Controller buttons. Not everyone likes that but it would be nice to have the option to bind your keys on your Controller Buttons.
Simply because if youre using Controller Companion or Xpadder you still see the Keybindings of your Keyboard on your Screen in GW2 and it would be a lot easier getting used to it when you would see the Controller Bindings youre actually using.
Combat Mode should be pretty easy to add and lots of ppl use that mod.
Videos:
Brazil
WoodenPotatoes
CombatMode
Retaliation, Poison, Blind, Wells and Fear for interrupts. Vs a good Warrior the Fight always takes some time, but most times i win. Just make sure you interrupt the important spells and stand on your wells. I’m using well of blood as well. Vampiric Rituals really helps. Im using 30/10/0/30/0 Good Luck.
Please upload some footage. If you can play a pure heal/support in GW2 now i stop playing my monk in gw1 and give gw2 another try
Survival
Both teams are assigned a captain. If the captain dies, you lose. Team mates need to balance their play around defending their captain and killing the enemy captain.
THIS sounds really interesting. I can imagine a great mode with this Idea and for example 3 teams at the same time. But there are problems like stealth that can prevent your team from damage. To deal with that you need a secondary task so that perma stealth or heavy bunkerbuilds don’t win.
Moba sounds really fun. And rounds would not last too long. Thats just depending on how it is designed. You can handle the progression with better stat points, weapon kit acquisition, stronger npc units on your side and things like this. There are enough options to make a League of Legends mode that is btw pretty similar to gvg. I still think this would be the best.. lot’s of league of legends and dota player could get interested because dota and league of legends still have this wc3/diablo gameplay and fights look and feel more exciting in gw2.
I think the #1 item here is going to be GvG. The debate I would like to discuss is whether to make it like sPvP or WvW or both…
What about an onslaught mode where we take on as many waves of NPC mobs as we can?
1. I think it should be more like spvp (gear, all skills) and the mapdesign should be more like LoL/Dota.
2. An oneslaught mode would fit better in the pve section of the game, in my opinion.
Guild versus Guild
A Map like Dota/LoL but replace the buildings that must be destroyed with guild lords.
1: No for race change
2: No for order changeVery simple reason is that it doesnt make any sense at all. It ruins lore, story and the entire game. As well as people misusing racial mechanics. For order there is the way of transmuatation stones. For all else, just re-roll. The game is very much fun so re-rolling shouldnt be an issue.
I think the same.
I think different. To improve the pvp mode of this game you need more pvp interested people playing it. And you wont get the pvp interested people that actually play different games like LoL by adding pve rewards to the pvp section.
Whoever is really ineterested in pvp don’t ask for gold and experience because you don’t need those things in pvp. Arenanet should improve the ranking system or at least should add an ingame version of the Leaderboard. Thats all.
What i really think what the pvp needs are more pvp interested people playing this.
If they just make GW2 more common in e-sport leagues and get more playing Guild Wars 2 PvP who don’t care about legendary, gold and a lvl 80 character.. It would be perfect.
I think anything that incentivises PvE and WvW players to come and have a match would be good! The tpvp player pool is just too small right now, queues are really long and we get massive mismatches in the relative skill and ranking of the players in the same match. We need new blood!
Yes and no. The pvp playerbase is small and need more people. Thats true. But to force people who are interested in PvE and WvW to play PvP, just because there are some rewards they want, is not the way to go in my opinion.
I would try to get the playerbase of cod, lol, cs and so on interested in my game.
I would do a GW2 PvP only free Trial for 7-10 days, combined with a tourney in the last days, where everybody can be a part of it if he wants to.
A homepage for this event, with some information about the game and especially the classes with prebuilt builds, people of carcrash, Paradigm and so on were using. (I would invite them at this point to be part of that event. They should create good builds for every class and rate then damage, difficulty, survivability and so on. These Rating can be displayed on the Homepage and help people to decide, what they want to play. Not more then 2 Builds for each class, 16 different Builds is really enough.. The difficulty rating is focusing the sight of a newb ofcourse)
The builds should have names. For example, the engineer with the riffle is a “Heavy Gunner.” People that play games like counterstrike can then just use these builds and don’t need to spend their time on builds. I think lots of people don’t like that games like gw2 are so complicated when you’re new to them and try to play pvp. Skills, Boons, Conditions, Traits, the Conquest mode, downed state, 8 Classes.. if you really want to get the Fanbase of those Games to your Game, you should make it easier for them.
The next thing you should find on that website is a tool that helps to create teams of 5 players, weeks before the free trial starts. That means if i want to play on that pvp event with friends, i can enter their e-mail there and they get an invitation. Then some Commercial on youtube and other known websites. If it’s possible i would try to get the Download of the game on the Steampage as well, because counterstrike and other pvp games are directly connected to steam and lots of pvp player will see it there.
At least there should be a nice Reward for winning this Tournament and shoutcasts for the final games.
Do you think this would work? btw. english is not my first language so have mercy on me O:-)
I like that pvp and pve are separated.
Thats why i am against exp boosters, exp scrolls, gold and things like that. You don’t need them in pvp and in my opinion thats why you should not get them in pvp.
I think the best reward would be something like an ingame leaderboard or better rank statistics. I don’t like the Rank, where hotjoingloryfarmer are the top players. And the Leaderboard itself confuses me and it’s not even visible ingame.
Do you remember the Manifesto Trailer? “I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun. We want to change the way that people view combat.”
Can you please tell me what the Ranksystem, where you can’t loose Rankpoints, where you get the most points in hotjoingames, where you get max. sth. like 400Rankpoints/Round and where you need 8.971.500 Rankpoints to achieve the Dragonrank, is? Please?!
In my opinion it is the worst grinding scenario i’ve ever seen in my life. And if i try to reach the dragon rank, it will also be the last thing ill see in my life.
You want to make pvp more rewarding? FIX THIS!
1. Change Confusion to be more like Clumsiness. Very Short basic duration of sth. like 2sec but very high damage on skill use. Still stacks in intensity but all stacks are removed after damaging the foe. Differs in color from white to red depending on the dmg it would do on skill use. Somebody that plays like a Berserker should die really fast while somebody that plays more with his head should be able to nullify the damage by waiting sometimes before he attacks again. At the moment its just a different source of damage because the duration almost lasts the entire fight.
2. Change Chilled to be more like Diversion. Because theres no manaresource and Chilled/Confusion are the Conditions that could prevent people from faceroll over their keyboard to hold anything on cooldown.
Basicduration of sth like 2sec. Stacks in intensity. All stacks are removed after skill activation (a skill that removes chilled is not affected by the increased recharge) and the skill rechargetime has increased by x seconds for each chilled stack.
Example: x = 1
3. More clear visuals for skillactivating. Just like the signet ones.
Or maybe a glow on my own interrupt skills, if my target is using a skill/action that has more than a second casttime. Less random interrupts like Chaos Storm and more rewarding interrupts with skills like Power Lock
I know that this would be a lot of work on balancing but it would improve the game a lot in my opinion.
1. Make PVP Rank Characterbound instead of Accountbound.
I thought that this would be nice as well at first but in the end it would mean that the top 10 players have 10 characters which fill the top 100 and so on… not so much fun from that perspective
2. Lower the Rankpoints which are needed for the ranks.
Wtf lol no play better…
If anything they should just show ranks for all players by default
3. Player loose rankpoints when they loose games. How many points they get/loose depends on the rank of their opponents. More points gain in tournament games.
EDIT: i just noticed you were actually talking about grind hotjoin rank and not ladder rank lol… pointless and stoopid suggestion
This is already happening – makes soloQ pointless once you get high enough in the ladder cuz u win nothing and lose everything – no idea h ow much they reduced it with the patch but before patch it was really bad
4. Player can only play tournamentgames if they have played for example 50 hotjoins with the character they want to join a tournament game with.
So u get bads that have 50 games played gz doesnt improve anything. Also since the last patch i havent met anyone soloQing who seemed completely outmatched rank 1 noobish
5. If your Characters rank is over 35 you don’t get rankpoints in hotjoins until you rank down to rank 34 due to lost tournament games.
6. Add pvp server that don’t give or take rankpoints to/from players.
^stoopid suggestion
1. No. To prevent this and to prevent that somebody just stays on toprank without playing you can introduce a small xp decay for inactivity. Sorry i forgot this.
Why aren’t just 10 people holding the top 100 in warcraft3.. thats nearly the same system like my suggestion for gw2 and it works fine.. just to proof this system works.
2. Ehm.. play better? So what. The points you get for winning is just a bit more than for a loose games. Even if i win 100 games in a row.. it doesn’t really matter. Somebody that wins only 30 of 100 games but plays twice as long has the higher rank.
And with the skillbased my suggestion is about rank up has something to do with “play better”.. so your statement seem to back up my suggestion? :P
3. You maybe just didn’t understand me.. my english is maybe the problem or you are just ignorant :o I dont know. I want to replace the Leaderboard with the ranksystem. Make everybody even on low rank part of it. And the current ranksystem should get replaced with titles. Titles like
“The Tiger”: You got 796500 rankpoints in pvp (thats needed for tiger rank right now..)
4. 50 games or more at least make sure the player knows the map. knows that there are traits and builds and makes sure they don’t just play tournament because they don’t know that there is a hotjoin. And it’s kind of a reward too + there was a second reason why i think this is usefull. (i mentioned in my original post)
You just ignored that it is a little help and underestimate it without any statement..
5 & 6. Yeah. Same here. Your first thought was it is stupid and you didn’t even say why.. means your comment is stupid and not my suggestion No offense but this comment just don’t help in any way..
The Leaderboard isn’t even shown in the game. I think it would be better to use the rank to show how effective somebody actually plays and use titles to show how much time the player actually invested in the pvp game. Can please somebody explain to me why you want this grindrank, useless titles and ingame invisible leaderboard instead of that? 0o
u really think that they gona change something at this point in the game?
I think it would improve the pvp of gw2 and it is something that anet can afford. It is realistic and not that much work for anet compared to many other suggestions. Yes i actually think this. The question is just.. does gw2 benefit enough from this to found a patch? And that is why I’m asking what the gw2 community think about it =)
I know how it was in gw1 and i did reach the maximum rank for luxon and high rank on other pvp ranks. Was this an argument against my idea? Then please explain why you think this was good. I don’t see why this grind system gets better just because it exist in an old game.
And no. I don’t want to see everybody with max rank and i did never say this.
The difficulty in getting the max rank should come by the small rankpointboost and great rankpointlost when you get near the max rank. This way a max rank is still something prestige in a few years. And sorry but some will never get the max rank. Some will stick to tiger or something else instead. A rank that fits their skill lvl.
To me, a max rank is nothing if you only have to grind all day long for it. Even a trained monkey can reach the max. rank with the current system. It just takes a lot of time.. and is boring. I think the current system is based on grinding and i tried to come up with something, that does at least not feel like grinding. Ofcourse you still need to do a lots of games but the feeling should be different.
There are games with a likewise ranksystem depending on skill. For example the ladder in warcraft 3 you can play in the battle.net. there you don’t see many people with rank 60.. because after rank 25 or at least rank 30 it gets really hard to rank up.
And about the restriction for joining laddergames. Do you know that one problem that ruins a tournamentgame is that rank 1 player join games and are facing rank 40’s. Thats not fun. For nobody. And a rank 1 has nothing to do in tournament games. Thats my opinion. And 50 games are a lot in the beginning, but you only have to play them once with your character and you can do that with friends as well.. so i don’t see a reason why new people should be able to play tournaments when they start pvp.
This are just my thoughts and maybe im alone with it because u two people seem to like how the currend ranking works and were the only ones that aswered atm.. :/
I still don’t understand why somebody prefers this grindfest over a skillbased ranking :/
Why?
1. A highranked Mesmer is maybe pretty bad with a Guardian. And highranked is supposed to mean that you’re facing a good player. The only conclusion we can come to is that player should not be able to rank up with for example a mesmer and play on high ranks with another character. That would be nice for balancing and prestige too. Because the devs can check out what classes are on the high ranks mainly and then look why. And for the prestige.. a less used class on a high rank would be something that enhances prestige of this player and this would result in more classdiversity =)
2. Actually it’s what Anet said they don’t want for GuildWars2. Grinding. I think you were talking about PvP too. My first expression when i saw that there are 89? ranks with such a high amount of rankpoints needed? Grindfest and nothing more.
Please change this. Why do you want grinding in your pvp game? Replace this with titles so people who likes this still can aim for it and people who spent a lot of time to get to rank 60 + and won’t like the skillbased ranksystem still have those titles to aim for. The Dragon title could go with an animation as well to reward people that get it.
With the Characterbound and modified rankpointsystem it still can be very challenging to achieve the high ranks but it would be a term of skill more than being a term of time invested.
3. Thats the most important change and basic idea. This way you realy want to win games and challenging long taking games are way more exciting. You maybe could think about using the points you need to win a game (500) as aditional variable to calculate the rankpoints get or lost. That means that the team that loose 460 to 500 loose less rankpoints than if they only scored 200 points. I would not lower the rankpoints the winning team gets when their opponent team got more points to not let people think that long games (spend long time) is wasting time.
4. People should not be able to start with tournamentgames because they will face people with a lot higher ranks there. That means that
a) they normally don’t have a chance. They should learn to play their class a little bit first and b) you want this to prevent (at least a little bit) that players of high ranks always start new characters and play tournament games with them so that their facing opponent loose a lot of points when loosing against a lowrank but skilled player.
Maybe even more games (75 or 100 for example) are needed to prevent the last thing.
This i think is really important because people will get frustrated if they see good players on a low rank all the time.
In adition this is some kind of rewarding people because as a pvp player you want to be able to play tournaments with at least more than 1 class. That means you want to do these first 100 games and get the ability to join tournamentgames in adition to your higher rank and new armor.
5. Again. Rank should say something about skill. And i think rank 35 or maybe 40 or something is the rank where you should not be able to get rankpoints by killing friends or lowranks on hotjoins. At least when you come to rank 35 and higher you come to the ranks where the rank realy shows your skill lvl. I would advise (just my opinion) to scale the ranks down. Why such a lot of ranks? At least you would do better if you halve the total of all ranks and reward every 5 level instead of 10.
6. Just to give player a place to play calmly without the fear of loosing rankpoints and test out new builds.
What do you think? This is just a short expression of my idea. The numbers are just there to give you an idea of what it could look like. I wrote this in sth like 40mins and ofcourse some points can be reconsidered. This rankingsystem would let me play pvp again. I think one of the mayor problems of pvp in gw2 is this grindfest rankingsystem.
Okay.. I am thinking that the actual ranking system is useless.. but:
What do you think? Is this skillbased ranksystem a ranksystem you would like? Or dislike? Please explain why. Can this skillbased system get improved? Any ideas?
Please leave some feedback =)
What?
Please look over the pvp rank system and change it into something, that shows the skill of the player. Highranked people should be people that are good in the game instead of people that just play hotjoin pvp all the time against random players.
And make sure that people that just started pvp don’t join tournamentgames.
How?
Please:
1. Make PVP Rank Characterbound instead of Accountbound.
2. Lower the Rankpoints which are needed for the ranks.
3. Player loose rankpoints when they loose games. How many points they get/loose depends on the rank of their opponents. More points gain in tournament games.
4. Player can only play tournamentgames if they have played for example 50 hotjoins with the character they want to join a tournament game with.
5. If your Characters rank is over 35 you don’t get rankpoints in hotjoins until you rank down to rank 34 due to lost tournament games.
6. Add pvp server that don’t give or take rankpoints to/from players.
Well, u can patch whatever u want, but if there is only 6 low skill level players queueing, you can either make them wait or put them in som games.
No match-making system can make up for a low playerbase.
Are you kidding me? Even in wc3 you get player accordant to your rank/lvl. And wc3 is pretty old. + there are more lvl 1-20 then 20+ rankplayer in gw2 atm.
I just don’t get why anet is not doing a lvl 10 restriction for tournament games. This way the people would have an idea of how the game works. They know the maps and maybe got a reliable build. That would be an easy change and could be implemented really fast.
Or even better if they do a restriction that you need 30, 50 or maybe 100 hotjoingames with the class you actually want to join a tournament game with
..because even rank 30s often play tournament with a new class and play horrible bad then..
AND you get some kind of new reward for playing pvp. You want to be able to play tournament with every class so you spend time on getting this. This would be an great advantage i think! Because atm you get nothing but a few rankpoints and new armor… and for me i don’t want new armor since rank 30 (tribal :P) and rankpoints are not that important for me.. i play pvp for fun but it would be nice to get something when i start a new class and learn the mechanics.. because in the first time i won’t be as effective as with my mainclass..
I think as long as stealth is this spammable it should end when you take damage..
There is no hardest class.
It’s pretty situational. For example the thief is a really good roamer, he’s fast and good in 1vX and it’s pretty easy to play. In a situation where your PD is going to die and you just came across and now have to decide between rez/down the opponent, a necro can be stronger (and also has the easy decision=use signet of the undeath..and that makes the necro be the easy to play class in this situation).
Warriors for example are very easy to play. But to be effective with a warrior can be a pretty hard thing.
I would say there are only 2 easy classes thief/mesmer because their ability to be invisible and strong stunbreaks and cc’s. And Necro and Warrior may are the less effective classes if played bad or at least not good x) But that does not make them really hard to play..
and btw.. the serker necro with signets, that was mentioned before, is pretty hard to play because the build is kitten..
No! Pls no gear grind in pvp!
Instead something like new utility skills which you can unlock with glory points or something.. that maybe could be nice. Like it was in gw1. But only for all the upcoming utilitys.. just to have something beside armor to spent glory for =)
Geargrind in pvp would be such a horrible thing.. i would instant leave the game then..
It’s just stupid that you can’t see for example moa. I want to dodge it. It would still not be easy because the dodge needs to be timed well and you need to target the right one. You don’t see this skill if you target a warrior, phantasm, clone near the mesmer. And the mesmer can still go invisible before casting moa morph.
Next thing is that i want to interrupt the heal of my foe. At the moment its just luck and btw those mesmer interruption traits are a joke. You dont see what your opponent is doing.. you just interrupt randomly. Thats boring!
So please give us those cast bars!
That you can’t see skills like killshot or moa morph is a reason for me to leave the game -.-
ANET: PLEASE IMPROVE TEAMPLAY IN PVP!
