It’s only one subpar guild that focuses on only subpar gameplay. It has nothing to do with the state of necro whatsoever.

I would disagree. Necros as a whole are completely rejected from any and all forms of pve. Nobody wants us in fractals, especially not the 40 farm. Raids are completely off the table for us. Etc.

Its completely normal to have people in your party bite your head off for being a necromancer. Hell, I’ve seen a fractal party advertise “all welcome”, kick a necro who tried to join, then at the end put “no fuqing necros”.

Every class has flaws, but necromancers are so unwanted because they have so little to give

Gw2 open world is pretty dynamic, so thats pretty fun in terms of “solo” content if that floats your boat

But dungeons amd fractals arent as bad as you may think. The LFG system is a really quick way to find a group for that kind of content, so you wont have to go out to find a group on your own. And if you dont want to do group content, just explore the world. Take it all in. The world map is massive. Go save quaggans I guess, thats always fun

No recap, unless you have 30+ minutes and want to read the wiki

Legendary weapons dont require those in theory, but you need the money from them. Legendary armor requires raids, legendary backpacks require pvp, fractals, or wvw depending on which pack you want

But heres my advice: wait. Wait until you max out a character, have tried all the dungeons, have a pretty good knowledge of the world map, have gone to the silverwastes, have found drooburt’s body, etc. In other words, experience all you can from the core game before buying the expansions. Youll love them more when you do

Thats all you gotta do

If you show up when the meta starts, all the maps will be full because of how popular the meta is (and for good reason honestly)

So yeah. Get there maybe 15 minutes early, and youll find a group

At least it’s not as bad as the new ele weaver thing…

Wait the weaver was bad? I thought ele’s were really happy with it

Huh

But I’ve been messing around with it, and I see the high damage potential for scourge. The burning + torment has served me well. Or it would if I found a way to not die.

Barrier degenerates too quickly to be used as a defense in pvp. Pve wise, I can see it working. Just make sure in pvp that you are in a group of people to lower the chances that you will be singled out. Then rain damage. But I do wish scourge was better solo.

I’m just going to get right to the point

The scourge is very boon-corruption based. That being said, how do we run scourge for pve? I doubt npcs will have the same amount of boons as players do in pvp and wvw, so what are yall’s suggestions for a pve focused scourge build?

Welp, its been about 24 hours now
No Anet responses

Sorry Lily, Im guessing Anet wants this thread to slowly die

Don’t expect them to respond to this. They seemed to give minor Lip service to this in the stream excusing their actions saying “Oh we can’t give stuff to necro because it’d be major power creep.” Ummm.. Uh huh… Right… Necromancer’s just been the worst profession through out most of the game, and is still pretty low in terms of power compared to other professions barring WvW.

I’m sorry, what they said just irked me.

Woah so wait, they actually responded to this in stream?

You really thought this one out. Its undoubtedly a really good read lily

But sadly, the devs probably won’t come down here. They havent responded to a post here in more than a year (from what i have heard) and even if they did, maybe its gotten to the point that necros as a whole are too far gone to be fixed. I hope not, but hear me out here fellas

Theres so many design problems as youve mentioned and so many things necros are lacking in. At this point, we might as well be a failed experiment. If anet has failed to fix these problems when they arose, they probably will fail to fix these problems now that they’ve built up.

We’re pretty much like the ele’s failed lil brother

But I’ve been wrong about anet before. I hope I’m wrong about them now

I remember at the end of the personal story, there was a ton of fanfare, everyone was all happy, Trahearne narrated this stirring monologue to a beautiful cutscene, and to top it all off Fear Not This Night played in the background

It was beautiful. I may not have liked the Zhaitan battle (spamming 1 wasn’t to fun), but this ending was perfect

At the end of Hot we got… nothing. Not even Fear Not This Night played. I was dissapointed but I shook it off. It wasn’t that big a deal

So I was planning to ask the devs, what do you have planned for the end of the PoF story?

Vital Persistence nerf pt. 2

Ok, so I’m just gonna say for the record that I didn’t like how they nerfed vital persistence, but I’m happy that they made shroud decay 25% less to compensate. Throw in the added vitality on the new vital persistence and I’m generally satisfied

I don’t run power reaper for pve as I prefer the condi reaper for that scene, I only run power for pvp, so I personally think this is a fix. Maybe pve power reapers are still angry about it, maybe 25% still isn’t enough, but I wouldn’t know anything about that

As for speed of shadows… I don’t really have an opinion on that. I’ve always run unyielding blast for pve and soul marks for pvp and wvw, so the CD reduction on shroud isn’t something I miss too much

Then there’s some sadness over the signets that I don’t have an opinion on either

All in all, I like the spectral skills lasting longer, that’s pretty nice. Especially now since the new SoS grants swiftness and spectral walk grants swiftness so now I have infinite swiftness

TL;DR, I’m satisfied with this latest patch. They made the 25% reduction baseline, so that’s neat. Now I can concentrate on doing what I’ve been looking forward to this whole time: watching the 30+ hour WoodenPotatoes video about every pixel of the expanded map

Leave your thoughts below. I don’t pretend to be professional so maybe I’m being naive and stupid. Either way, it’s always nice to have a second opinion right?

Even more gutting to a class that doesn’t have a place in the game anyways.

It’s pretty clear that they just want to make everybody run scourge. I have always liked being the damage output of a party, so running scourge is not gonna be as fun

And that’s what games are supposed to be about. Having fun.

Not because it’s an objectively better skill or any of that, I’m pretty sure this skill is a lot worse now
But because it’s fun to watch these little rat things rise out of the ground and blow up in a cloud of poison (with death nova)
Probably a kitten skill in actual pve though, I haven’t tried the skill yet

: The sad thing was i almost believed WP and his theory that power Necro’s may actually get some positive changes, man was he off the mark!

I remember WP interviewing game devs and asking them if older elite specs would be made obsolete because PoF would power creep the new elite specs. The answer, obviously, was a resounding “no” from everybody asked.

I feel like an idiot for believing them

Jesus Christ man, you really went all-out with this one. I made a similar post, but not nearly as in-depth as yours

I have about 800+ hours on necro, most of which come from PvE. For anybody running shroud in PvE for their power build, this will be extremely crippling to them. If life force drains faster now, they will spend less time in shroud. Thus, their dps will see a big decrease. They probably have some way to stack up on life force again (daggers or staves), but they’ll be spending more time stacking life force and less time actually dealing damage. In other words, a damage reduction to pve power reaper. And it’s not like power reapers were that great to begin with. (although I should put the disclaimer in here that this is speculation since the patch has only been out for like 3 hours as of writing this)

I run condition damage, and I spend a good portion of my rotation in shroud, stacking that burning with dhuumfire. I depended a lot on vital persistence because a condi necro like me isn’t really able to build up life force. So any bit of life force we can save is vital to our dps. With this nerf, we will be losing life force at a quicker base rate, coupled with the damage we’ll be taking and that shows how little time we can spend in shroud and how much dps we will lose as a result. This part isn’t speculation.

All considered, I think this is a huge nerf to necros on the pve scene. And we already suck in that department, so we really didn’t need this nerf.

That is my PvE insight

But what if I want to run reaper? What about f2p players? Are we not as important?

Necromancers as a whole are not importan to Anet. It’s common knowledge and you must be new.

Yeah I guess I have to agree with you on that one mate. But I’ve gotten a lot of success with necromancers in PvP by staying in shroud. Now I not only suck in all areas of PvE, I also suck at PVP. It’s almost as if the devs thought to themselves “Guys, necros are officially the deprived child nobody wants in PvE. How do we make it worse?” It makes me wonder if engis are also still on the same boat with us.

Either way, it’s still infuriating when they nerf the hell out of necromancers and come up with the most shallow rationales for doing so. Jesus Anet, just say necromancers have never been a priority

Vital Persistence nerf

in Necromancer

Posted by: Flubbernaut.9584

Flubbernaut.9584

So I’m just going to rant out over here

When the balance patch came out, one of the things that stuck with me the most as a necromancer main was how the devs decided to replace the 50% life force reduction with +180 vitality to make this trait not seem incredibly obviosuly better than the rest.

Although that brings up the question: why not buff the other two traits? Lets be honest here, we chose vital persistence over the other two not mainly because it was so good (although that was a factor) but because the other two sucked. Why would I run spectral mastery if i don’t run any spectral skills? Why run fear of death at all? Fear is a nice CC but it certainly isn’t something I would bank on, and the extra fear when we get downed won’t really help much

The only other trait then was vital persistence. This trait also made a whole lot of sense to me since the core profession mechanic is the shroud. If we plan to spend a lot of time in shroud, it makes sense that shroud lasts longer. Now all we get is a +180 vitality, which is what, 2 extra seconds of survivability?

Maybe you say that such a nerf is necessary to transition to PoF, where there will be no shroud in scourge. But what if I want to run reaper? What about f2p players? Are we not as important?

My point is, stop nerfing so much. And stop nerfing necro, we already get kicked from raids, fractals, and dungeons as it is. And my PVP build was really dependent on shroud so now I’m screwed in that department. The devs had so much room to buff the other two traits that compete with vital persistence. Maybe instead of just saying “spectral skills recharge faster”, you couldve buffed it to say “reduce recharge on spectral skills when you kill a foe” or something like that. Or say you get might from spectral skills. Or say you get might from fear if you want to buff that trait.

Leave your thoughts below guys, since I don’t claim to be a dev

Elder Wood Log Price

in Living World

Posted by: Flubbernaut.9584

Flubbernaut.9584

So does anyone notice what happened to the price of elder wood logs? After the lw s3 finale came out (and I mean like 15 minutes after One Path Ends went live), the supply for elder wood logs plummeted and by extension, the price rocketed.

Over the next 2 hours after the update, the price more than doubled. At 11:16 7/25, the sell price was 1.95 silver. At 13:13 7/25, the sell price was 4.48 silver . This price jump has been the largest for this item in five years. Not even the slow yet constant inflation was able to cause this kind of price jump in 5 years, so I really want to know what happened in 2 hours.

My guess would be the new legendaries causing the huge price jump, but I’m an amateur at this so I want some more “professional” opinions.

Quick google searches show the Shining Blade legendary takes up 18 THOUSAND elder wood logs. The supply before and after the update was 1,316,462 and 159,684 respectively. Quick subtraction and division shows that 64 people could’ve just bought at all the logs they needed at the sell price and crash the supply (as the demand has remained relatively unchanged). Just 64. And I’m assuming that only 64 people wanted the new sword, which looks amazing and a lot more than 64 people are going to want that sword

I don’t have any information on the hammer, but I’m guessing it’s the same story. Either way, I would be grateful for a second opinion on this. I would also like to know if Anet plans to change the recipe for the sword/hammer if that’s what’s causing the price increase, since 72 hours ago I could afford crafting the precision staff woodworking tools I need for Nevermore with the money I have now and now I can’t because of the inflation.

So yeah, leave your thoughts. Most of the information came from gw2efficiency god bless them, and the rest came from the wiki.

Playable Quaggans

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Flubbernaut.9584

Flubbernaut.9584

So this is a topic I’ve held close to my heart for a very long time. The ability to wreck Zhaitan with a quaggan weilding a greatsword as bodies of risen drop around me while I rise from the ashes of Arah.

“But quaggans aren’t a vicious race! They don’t like conflict!” You see here, heartless person who doesn’t understand the awesomness of quaggans, Shashoo and Baroosh have already proven themselves in the Heart of Maguuma! It wouldn’t be impossible for another quaggan to do the same!

“But ArenaNet might not have the resources to make quaggan characters! We’ll need a new capital, leveling maps, and new voice actors to voice the new missions! How will we do that?!” Well, many players are already wanting a new race, such as Koda or Tengu, but i would argue for Quaggans! Why? Because quaggans are cooler than them. The Tengu are secluded, the Koda are dying off, but the quaggans! They are amazingness!

“But if quaggans are added, new content updates what be available. Resources will have to be put towards quaggans, and not new maps or a compelling story. New dungeons may not be added, and the gameplay will be stake and boring!” Shut up. Quaggans.

So now that I have thoroughly gone through every argument with logic and reasoning, the question remains. Why don’t we have quaggan playable characters? Surely, there can be NOTHING wrong with such an addition?
