I’ve never had a problem with KnT, besides them rick rolling me on the battlefield. They are a tough crew that is for sure. I do silly kitten all the time and it is never to disrespect my opponent, I figure if they are laying there why not entertain them, or sometimes my emotes/tonics have nothing to do with them I could be trying to entertain my realm mates.

Great fights tonight. FA open gate defense still amazes me, I feel like they would knock a hole in their own wall sometimes just to defend it. BG was getting some painful flanks on us featuring Icoa and others, very well executed every time.

I was in TCBL killing BG yaks heading for hills for a while until a group of BG had enough, but I would still try for them :P, sometimes succeeding. Only emote I got was a wave when I would fail, which was surprising lol. Very good game so far and not a lot of stupid emotes or other taunts going on, which may or may not last but tonight was just a good ole time, every server was holding their own imo.

Ok so official trolling aside, good luck everyone in this matchup. Keep at it SoR you had an easy two weeks in the past matchup so it may take a bit to get into form, you guys might even have to get mad!

Hmm can’t say I agree with that, but I respect your opinion. SoR zergs were heavy and coordinated, once they started taking stuff the map changed color really quick and you better hope someone took the time to siege up your “random” north towers.

Which is probably what that player was doing there, I doubt they were roleplaying sentry guard lol.

eg. First week we fought them, they owned their entire BL. A friend and I decided to flip NE supply camp. 10 seconds after we engage the npcs, cows and boulders are landing around us. 3 trebs were firing at us from NE tower. Our side had not owned anything in over 30 minutes, yet they had guards at this random tower.

I wouldn’t call either of the north towers random for the home team, holding them is extremely important especially against stronger servers. I think you may have bonked your head a little Sigmund Freud.

I hate to say it but it is time for JQ and SoS to recognize the new best server. SoR is so strong now and has the cream of the crop of NA players. SoR is going to beat JQ and SoS even if they double teamed. SoR has better guilds, coverage, forum trolls, and skill to boot! Good Luck former T1 servers you will need it.

Additionally, focus firing their commanders and then humiliating them is also quite effective. (eg. corpse jumping them while their zerg is standing around them) While some BG and TC commanders are relentless and wont be phased, others will rage and lash out at those around them. This in turn will lead to a lowering of enemy morale or irrational behaviour by their commanders.

That is actually pretty weak :\. I prefer to use cheap tonics over plain old fashioned emotes yawn how boring and 10 years ago, also some people have emotes disabled. Fireworks are nice but I feel those should be reserved for tower/keep takes and things of this nature. For good ole corpse taunting, definitely transformation tonics, I usually go with snowman to the face.

Needless to say it was a great joy spawn camping them to the extreme ( trebs, ballistas, shame ram trains and barricades). Thursday at 1pm central and I have a que in tcbl. That seems pretty strange to me I’ve never had a que at this time before. Maybe there is something to this afterall.

EDIT: Also, I should add this because you contradicted yourself. You say it’s just a game and your happy in whatever meaningless tier, then why would you’ll be trying so hard to recruit people from OTHER servers when SoR was already in T2. I don’t have a problem with it but I’m not going to shy away from what it really is either.

Well I guess everyone has their own opinion, but lets say I was in that position and my server had a chance to become the #1 server. Then right before we had a chance to prove ourselves in T1 there is a ladder reset which would take my server around two months or so(maybe sooner?) to get back to the top because of how the rating system works. I would see it as a slap to my face. I hope I explained it good for you. I have no doubt SoR and their many transfers will make it back to the top though! So don’t sweat it your a great server.

Clusterbomb is a great aoe period. Everyone gets hit by aoe’s not just thieves and like another poster already said AoE abilities were never the bane of thieves, it has always been CC and still is.

Who said anything about sticking around in a middle of a mob? I switch to shortbow often to use my aoe’s, especially clusterbomb, so to say an aoe nerf is a buff for thieves is just not correct.

Try reading, you might learn something. If you’re living long enough while being aggressive after being revealed in a teamfight, the group you’re fighting is awful. Again, you can’t get into stealth without CnD (which is trivially easy to dodge, but you’re apparently unaware that there’s even a dodge button) or wasting a long cooldown utility. Even if you do get back into stealth, at best your damage output is dropped to approximately one-third going by your own claims.

So your options against a group that’s not incredibly terrible at this game are either to blow cooldowns and run, or to swap to a weapon set that drops your damage output to just a tiny fraction of anything else you could put out. I’m sure you think you’re the greatest ever, but the reality is you’re just playing against low quality competition or abusing culling issues. There’s plenty of ways to actually contribute to quality fights, but some can only ever reach for the low hanging fruit.

Try not to take it too personal that I don’t agree with you and still don’t. I don’t think I’m the greatest ever and I would not choose to bring a glass cannon build into every fight. I mention the need to be mobile and use dodge effectively multiple times in my posts, maybe you should learn to read? And again, how are you going to know when a CnD is coming to dodge it? It is instant cast without a long animation, you have no idea what your talking about. My shortbow does 4-8k cluster bomb damage and 1.5k auto-attack, it’s not as big as a drop in damage as you claim it is especially if your hitting the group with your aoe’s. Anyway if you back off to recover you shouldn’t be able to do as much damage, how would that make sense? Why not just stay shortbow if that were the case.

Also, how would it be wasting a utility to get back into stealth and try and win the fight? When is it ok with you for me to use my utilities? Shadow Refugee, CnD, Smokebomb, and Hide in Shadows can all get you back in stealth if you do not have the reveal debuff.

A good glass cannon can occasionally still contribute some small amounts of value to a teamfight between uses of steal. However, against decent players (except rangers*) a glass cannon thief needs to spend most of that time mitigating damage and cannot get into position to make another strike without the use of steal/mug. CnD is trivially easy to avoid without the Steal synergy so unless you’re playing against the kind of people who just sit there and let you hit them, you’re not going to contribute any meaningful amount to a fight between cooldowns.

• Rangers are the exception here because of the ease of using Cloak and Dagger against pets.

So your saying CnD is useless without a gap closer? Look up heartseeker please, and yes you can heartseek while stealthed. I already said if you play glass cannon you have to be super mobile, which means you have to be good at closing gaps. My auto-attacks hit for 2k a piece, please don’t tell me I can’t do anything without steal and backstab. Also how is a melee character or ranged that likes to get up close and personal going to avoid my CnD so easily like you say? They aren’t trying to kite me. There is also a weapon swap for a reason, if you are getting hammered and you already burned your stealth/heals then yes you need to back out for a few but you can switch to ranged attacks and kite in the meantime instead of just sitting there which I guess is your strategy.

Ok I think I should shed some non-sarcastic light on glass cannon thieves. When I am spec’d glass cannon my attack chain looks something like this. steal/mug 4-8k, Cloak and Dagger 4-8k, followed by backstab 5-10k and good luck pulling that off on a mobile target. After the backstab auto-attack until you can use Cloak and dagger again. If your under heavy attack stealth/heal and maybe even call upon the thieves guild for assistance. heartseek when their life is below half so you have the executioner buff. Also Heartseeker is a great gap closer.. you guys know what a gap closer is right? Obviously if they are sitting point blank and hitting heartseeker on a target with more than half health they are playing bad.

The hardest part of playing a glass cannon thief build if not getting hit, warriors that root and use hundred blades or whatever its called and then hack you up are a nightmare for a glass cannon thief. I think this is why most people switch builds, it is easy to press the dodge key but pressing it at the right moment to actually dodge an incoming attack is another story. There is almost zero room for playing bad on a glass cannon. kitten around and get rooted in the wrong group and your dead.

Also, I switch to shortbow often when I’m up against large groups of players, glass cannon thieves hit real hard with their shortbow. With all that said I use all my abilities and both weapon slots when I play glass cannon, how on earth do you guys play with only steal, backstab, and heartseeker?

I think most of you have no idea how to play a glass cannon build or what it takes to actually do well on one. You know how many “immortal” builds that can’t be killed like a perma stealth thief or a D/D ele that I kill? Many I am the sole reason they die most of the time when I’m on the field.

I have to say you all have it wrong. The best player of any class including thieves is the one who makes the most youtube videos showing all their good plays while editing out all the bad ones.

Well deserved, you can only beat up servers so much before moving up. I swear some days BG decided not to take the entire map just for the sake of keeping some competition around. I don’t have any good or bad feelings for BG really I just know they belong in Tier 1 and I hope they have a better time there and we a closer three way match in Tier 2. Although SBI might be the wrong cupcake for that order.

I’ve been on the steamroll side of things and it sucks just as much if not more, especially if you like to root for the underdog in various situations. It can be hard to get motivated properly, so Good Luck BG. Except that guy who slept on my corpse the other day, he can die.

You don’t have to personally say that ANET is trying to keep players down, but that’s the result of system you’re advocating, in which PvE players have plenty of cash to buy whatever they want and PvPers are kept out of the loop.

When I do pve/dungeon runs it takes up my night, I don’t have time to do hours of W3 after already spending hours in dungeons, maybe you have a lot more time than I do but pve is a time sink to me. The part where which time sink makes you more money we are in agreement on.

I think that is the real reason there is not much gold to be made in W3, it is by far the most popular aspect of the game, in my opinion anyway.

at 0945 CST this today, SoR BL had at MOST 50 defenders. at this exact same time, BG had a que not only in our BL, but TC’s as well. SoR had no more than camp capping grps in all other maps combined. if anyone ever says BG is “lacking players” for oceanic coverage, keep this in mind.

Now there is no queue in any map. The only queue we had is when our oceanic guilds combined force to stomp one particular BL. And that queue only last 5minute. Still plenty of space for Oceanic, We also need more for tier1.

After hours of research I have finally figured out a solution to these problems. Respawn and stop crying seems to work pretty well.

There is no material incentive to win in WvW outside of the psychic benefit people receive from being on the winning side.

No one on Blackgate has gotten any special items or whatever for winning these past few weeks.

That being said, it’s probably better for people to play on a winning t2 server than a losing t1 server since winning always feels good whereas losing always feels bad.

If Anet implements some kind of system where the winning server gets actually gets some serious material rewards then I think that would change the way people play this game entirely.

I don’t think so, that would just make more people hop to the winning side. People would play how they are now, stack servers until you win.

So I saw some BG’ers bragging about how they took over the map 6am server time…. really? Don’t get me wrong it is what it is but how on earth can you brag about taking over a map with no defenders. Good job?

Regardless of how many “lulz” people had with it, stealth capture/prevent capture was a disaster and definitely needed to changed.

My main is a thief and couldn’t be happier. Maybe people will stop their endless complaining now. No but really if you didn’t think that was going to get fixed your brain is underdeveloped.

I’m pretty sure they said Legendary gear would be updated to be on par with ascended, it just won’t have the special damage type protection which is pve only anyway… right?

So did everyone just give up on this issue after being told to “update drivers” that don’t need to be updated or have you all found a solution? Maybe your using another mouse instead of the higher dollar gaming mouse you payed for that doesn’t seem to want to work with GW2?

I’m just curious because I tried playing with a regular mouse but decided to quit instead. I’ve grown too fond of my mmo mouse and I’m not going back just because GW2 has these issues, I’d rather quit and take my money with me. Don’t let me fool you though I have enjoyed the game very much and I find it crazy I’m not playing anymore because of my mouse compatibility with the game…

Well I thought I recieved help on the issue because it cleared up for a day after uninstalling/reinstalling my vid driver which clearly is not the issue. The Tech said my drivers were out of date when in fact they were not. I had a fresh windows installation prior to getting gw2, so of course all my drivers are up to date.

It happens to me no matter where on the server but especially during peak times. I find it hard to believe this many people have a faulty mouse or old drivers as the source of the exact same problem.

After uninstalling my synapse on my razer naga my problem cleared up for a few days but It came back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my mouse drivers several times and nothing seems to fix this. When this first started happening to me the first thing I did was update my mouse drivers, even a cave monkey would think of that.

So funny enough when I filled out a support request(attached to my support ticket was hijackthis, gw2 diag, and game advisor. This is what I got back “Thanks for bringing this to our attention blah blah, I see your using a razer naga blah blah, please update your drivers and is there anything else I can help you with?” Ticket is now closed. lol

Well yea you can help me with the same problem because you haven’t yet!

Razer Naga wired here with the same problem. I have tested it on other mmo games using the same type of movements and the mouse is fine. It is only in Guild Wars 2 that I have issues and it is ruining my gameplay whether it be pve or pvp.

I’m getting this same exact problem as coldfire’s video shows. I’m using a Razer Naga mouse that is working great with everything except guild wars 2. I’m not going to lie not being able to turn the camera when you want is unacceptable.

Need a fix for this asap please ANET.

In older mmo’s picking the best named servers worked because you wanted to be with the high population for the most competition. It appears the elite pwners did not get the memo though on WvWvW… What surprises me though is even the big super elite guilds that claim superiorty took the cheesy route, you can find them all in one of the top 3-5 servers huddling next to each other. Then people go and blame free transfers or ANET, sorry no it is the community at fault here, ANET isn’t forcing all the good guilds to cram into the top 3-5 servers. Tough on the outside, cowards within.
