Problems with Kudzu Precursor Collection

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Fox.8957

I’m still on tier 1 of the collection, so some of the stuff you are looking for I haven’t had to mess with yet. To the person asking about the Lotuses, I farmed Orr (Cursed Shore/Malchors) for about 3 days until it finally popped from one. Had to farm Vinewrath about 7 times to get the tiny blossom.

As for the garden guardian, the first place that comes to mind for me is the Champ Troll that has a garden of sugar pumpkins or something in either Bloodtide or Sparkfly, I can’t remember which zone. You just walk to an area around the centerish of the map and there are tons of plants to gather, and there is a troll wandering about that will come after you if you get close.

Edit: Bloodtide Coast – Risewild Hills is where the troll is.

And my 2 cents: yeah, it’s RNG, not a fan of having to use the Ascended time-gate stuff to make exotic things. But the vague hints? I’m ok with that. I enjoy scavenger hunts and puzzles of that nature, but to each their own.

Misprint on "Human Gods" book

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

In Rata Novus, from Zinn’s Print-O-Matic, you can get a number of books (once per day) that deals with GW1 lore.

In the “Human Gods” book, there is a misprint. On the final page it says, " The newest of the six human gods was born a mortal. Upon the defeat of the god of secrets, Dhuum……

It was Abaddon, not Dhuum.

Probably just a typo, but wanted to bring it to your attention.

“Any scrolls of knowledge that you have in your possession will automatically be converted to spirit shards, and any source that used to award scrolls of knowledge will now grant spirit shards.”

So this basically means the 2 stacks of scrolls I have which I was going to power-level my new revenant will disappear? Yay for shards…I guess? But I still wish I had the choice for the use of them. I mean, I still have tomes, sure, but I have tons more scrolls. I was planning to knock 2 new chars to 80 for the xpac.

EDIT: I can’t read apparently. I always assumed that scrolls gave xp not skill points (hence why I never used them) , so my fault. Thanks for the clarification all.

If Glint is approached now, what next?

in Lore

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

@narwhalsbend

I wasn’t meaning to say that there can’t be a story without dragons, not at all! But, the whole premise of GW2, ever since the introduction of the game in the first trailer was the problem of the dragons and how Tyria was to deal with it. I just get the feeling that if Anet did go on to create another major character/plot arc (while I’m sure I would like it) there would be a lovely amount of complaints from the community saying ’WHERE’S OUR DRAGONS??’ Even with the creation of Scarlet (which I thought was fine) she was a character that introduced the next dragon. So, I brought my point up asking “what else could there be?” as I don’t see Anet lumping 2 dragons together. Depending on how everything plays out in Magumma though, a nice White Mantle/Mursaat arc would be a welcome trek for me.

If Glint is approached now, what next?

in Lore

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

Clarification: This is not a complaint. I am loving the LS right now and discovering this story with Glint etc.

But, it makes me wonder. When I first started playing GW2 (and after reading the novels) I figured that once we approached the Crystal Desert and Kralk that we would be learning all that we are learning now: the future of Glint and her offspring, seeing her lair, etc etc.

Instead, as we go west, the jungle area is more desert-like and we are getting all this information about Glint as we pursue Mordy. I can understand the connection and I have seen other threads talk about the possible interest of Mordy in the egg, but after that is all said and done……where is the story going to go when (and if) we go to the Crystal Desert? I guess maybe the “restoration” of Destiny’s Edge, maybe a “snaff flashback” (Kralk uses him as an apparition or something).

I just don’t see Anet lumping 2 dragons together in one story as the dragons are far too valuable as a story mechanic to rush (once we kill all the dragons, then what? That is, are we even supposed to kill them?)

It just got me wondering, that’s all. While I have enjoyed the recent episodes, I feel like I am playing more in the Crystal Desert than I am in the Maguuma jungle and I was curious to hear from the lore community on what story the desert could bring us. And of course, I am jumping the gun a bit here.

Side note/question: With the Breachmaker incident, is that considered the “official awakening” of Mordremoth? Or was he already awake and now he is just making a move? I considered it the awakening, but I wanted to double check.

I am not sure when this bug started, but I have noticed it for at least the past 2 weeks, I was waiting to see if an update would fix, but no go, so here I am reporting.

When using the Molten Alliance Pick (I bought it back when first released) the pick itself is invisible. My character still goes through the animations, and the molten lava still appears, but the pick itself is gone. All of my other gathering tools work fine (aetherblade axe and consortium sickle) but the molten pick is not showing.

Thanks.

Trading Post - Invisible Bag bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

You are correct, sure I have 2 of the same.

But, when I do my selling spree (emptying my pockets of everything) I assume that only stuff outside my invis bag is showing up. This bug defeats the purpose of the invisibility.

To be honest, this is only a concern for my leveling characters, as I get random drops, I constantly switch out for best in slot. My 80s hardly every get a drop that’s identical or better than what I have already.

It’s just a sneaky bug and people could sell without realizing it.

Trading Post - Invisible Bag bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

Came by to report:

As of the September 30 update, the bug still exists.

Also, I checked my theory to see if the bag order could be used as a work-around for now and it can. If your invis bag (see above posts) is not in the first slot or rather, not above whatever duplicate weapon you are selling, it does not sell the invis bag one, nor does the invis bag show up after sell. BUT if your invis bag is first in slot, then it will sell the invis bag version of the weapon first, before selling the other.

So please fix soon.

tldr – Bug exists that when one has IDENTICAL weapons (same stats/names) and is trying to sell one. If one of them exists in an invis bag, it sells that one first, if the bag is first in slot. The invis bag contents should NEVER show up on TP.

Double-click bank deposit not working

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

I can say this bug exists as well.

Example:

I have 300 ecto in bank (250 in mat slot, 50 loose in bank)
I have 300 ecto in my inventory

I open up the bank and double click the 300 ecto in inventory side of the bank tab. 200 ecto automatically fills up the 50 loose ecto to a 250 collection.

The remaining 100 ecto stays in my inventory. I double click and nothing happens, even if I have an empty slot in the bank. I then have to move the 100 manually and everything works fine until the stack is full again.

Trading Post - Invisible Bag bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

I found another thing to clarify on this….

When the item shows up in TP to sell, and then I sell it, because it’s identical to one in the invisible bag, the one invis version sells first, then the TP brings the item up again, this time, trying to sell the one in my normal bag. My bag order (as in the left hand side of inventory) does have my invis bag first. I haven’t tried it, but if my invis bag WASN’T the first in slot, it might never pull from it as it would be the “second identical weapon” it sees. Still, this is a bug, as nothing in the invisible bag should ever be seen to begin with. I will try my work-a-round and report back.

Trading Post - Invisible Bag bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

Hi.

Here’s the gist. My character has multiple bags, one of them being an “invisible” bag, one that is not supposed to be seen by the Trading Post window, when I go to “Sell Items.” So far, it’s doing that part right. Here’s the odd thing.

Let’s say I have 2 of the EXACT same weapon. Let’s say a “Strong Mace of Grawl Slaying, level 56 etc etc”. Well, this mace is currently the best mace I have, so I put one in my invisible bag and then I leave the other one in my normal bag to sell for later.

I go to sell and I right-click and sell the mace that’s in the normal bag. Bam, sold. Automatically, the TP brings up the SAME weapon again, with the “sell/list” window. I think to myself, “oh maybe I didn’t sell it” and hit sell again. Bam, sold.

Turns out, the 2nd weapon that came up was actually the weapon stored in my invisible bag. For whatever reason, the TP sees the identical weapon and automatically pulls it into the sell window, after I sell the first one, even if it was in an invisible bag.

Thankfully, I haven’t lost anything too valuable, but I did make this mistake at least 5-6 times. I keep noticing I had an empty slot in my invis bag, when I KNEW it used to be full.

So, in the recent update to TP, even if a weapon (I haven’t tried armor/access) is in an invis bag, if it’s IDENTICAL to any other weapon in the inventory, it pulls into to the TP window.

I hope that makes sense. Let me know if I need to clarify.

Thanks.

Cooking problems - Fine Dining Achievement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

Love the new collections, they are fun for me.

But I ran into one problem….and it just seemed out of place. Let me set up the scene. I have a lvl 45 (player level) character that I designated as my chef. He is now a lvl 400 chef (at lvl 45).

He was able to make EVERYTHING on the “Fine Dining” achievement list (even though he couldn’t eat half of it, because they are foods that require you to be a certain level to partake….which I gave to my level 80s). So I get down to the last two things, 2 semi-expensive recipes you have to buy from the mystic forge:

Feast of Truffle Steak Dinner and Feast of Spicy Lime Steaks.

I bought them both and my lvl 45 was able to “read” the recipe of the Spicy Lime Steaks but NOT the Truffle Steak Dinner. Why? Because I had to be lvl 80!

So my complaint/question/suggestion is, why is that I can make lvl 80 foods all day with lvl 45 char, and then suddenly not be able to unlock this recipe? I have unlocked many other recipes that are “above my limit” and I make the food and give it to the characters that can. It just seemed really odd/out of place that I couldn’t “activate” that one recipe on my character. True, I could let my other 80s read it, but they aren’t chefs! So the recipe would be wasted.

That’s all.

How to "turn off" LS?

First off, I love LS, I am not asking to get rid of it or anything, but I had a game interface mechanic questions involving the new Story Journal.

I have already completed the “Entanglement” episode once and I understand that I can do it multiple times to get the other achievements.

I was showing my friend how the “replay” function worked and re-activated the episode. But, what if I don’t want to play the episode right now? Is there a way to turn the episode back off, so that I don’t receive the green stars anymore and “where to go” prompts?

Thanks.

Scarlet's Corruption or non? *Spoilers*

in Lore

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

So I was thinking/reading the other day about the ending cinematic (awesome btw) and I never thought/realized that as the camera goes past dead scarlet’s face, you see those green “streaks” on her face. Someone on the forums later said it was obvious that she was corrupted. Now, I know there is an argument about the capability of Sylvari being corrupted, but that’s not what I really looking to talk about it. I just was just thinking of a few different things that have been said and seeing if they fit together.

First off, in the short story “What Scarlet Saw” you have this line:

-The sylvari woman brought her open hand up and spread her fingers wide. A thin vine crawled from her sleeve and began weaving between her splayed digits.-

Later she uses said vine/thorns to kill Omadd.

Then, the mask we get for beating her is called “Scarlet’s Veil”

and finally the green streaks.

So my thought was, was she really corrupted (as in body, we know her mind was something else) as she gained this thorn power. And was she trying to hide it? The helmet we get is called a veil. Is there any significance to that use of the word? Or is just Anet looking for a word other than helmet.

And was she trying to hide it? Because we (the player) don’t even see the green streaks until her death.

Again, I am not totally sure where this train of thought is going, but I felt it might be connected, so I wanted to throw it out there.

tl;dr – Green Streaks, Thorn powers and Veil – are they connected?

That brings up another question. What (if any) ties were there between Scarlet and the Consortium? I don’t think there were any, but I was kinda confused when we found one of the plants (that set the karkas off, the censer?) in her lair. Was she connected to that? Because if not, then I guess the whole Lost Shores stuff is not scarlet. Canach had a small tie-in because of his involvement with tangling with the MA, but that’s about it.

Any info would be great.

Thnks for the fix anet...

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Fox.8957

They did tell the player (in a way) without being spolier-y. One of the achievements in the meta is to talk to the Lionguard right outside that portal. And the achievement tells you where the lionguard is. True, it requires some connecting the dots, but if you went for the achievement for the Lionguard, you talk to her, check the portal, etc etc.

Not saying “you should look harder” but rather “anet is trying to provide ways to help, but walking fine line of being spoilerific.”

Because if they just flat out said: “use this portal to skip the fight!” then everyone would be griping " Why put in the fight??" or something like that.

When pugs work : P4 Arah

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Fox.8957

Fox.8957

I just wanted to to briefly comment and thank the random Puggers that helped me defeat p4 on Arah last night.

We randomly came together through the lfg website and openly admitted that none of us had ran it before and that it was going to take awhile. Because we were running ele/necro/thief/war/ranger(me), I switched to my guardian to provide some more heavy but openly admitted that I was better with my ranger than the guardian.

And so we went. And 4 1/2 hours later, we finished. True, we aren’t “leet” or “speed run” but we were openly honest about what we expected and I think that made it work, that and the pity the Warrior had on me as I had to re-touch my guardian-ness.

Each of these guys were good at their professions and willing to work together. The only battles we had to fight more than once was Melandru and Lupi, everything else – we got first try.

And now we are all Dungeon Masters. Heck yeah.

So for those still wanting p4, it’s do-able with pugs, just be honest at the beginning, it saves grief in the end.

A-net, that was one crazy path.

I really enjoyed this dungeon and I was also able to complete it with a PUG. We had 2 rangers (one was me) a warrior, mesmer and a guardian. Everyone tried their best and we did fail multiple on the laser room. I’ll admit, that 3rd stage is almost too hard, almost. We just had to keep fixing our strategy and try it again. I want to give props to the whole team for sticking through it, we did finally beat it! I also want to give special props to the guardian that was with us, there were a few times that only he and I were left standing and he did a great job at kiting while I got the other folks up and then we would switch depending on the aggro.

Anet, I really liked this dungeon. I haven’t had this much fun (and frustration!) since the first time I faced off against Lupicus. While it was hard, it really felt great to beat it. My only complaint is the temporary length of it. I know a lot of folks that will miss it as it will only be around 2 weeks, and while I understand the Living Story side of things, I just wish this was here for maybe a month at most, to give more people a chance.

I am not really sure what I think about this returning as a fractal though unless there were some significant changes. It would be way too much work for just ONE fractal, followed by 2-3 more. Gah, not sure I could survive all that.

I feel like it will mainly look like the old lighthouse with the one difference of having that small house structure connected to it. Of course, they could be changing it slowly for some other story event to come along. If we do see more of an oceanic expansion or Bubbles or whatever, I have feeling we would see effects in LA like we did with the karka event. This lighthouse may prove to be point for that, or just like the (now repaired) lion statue, it could be just changing slowly over time to give the feeling of an “ever-changing, living world.” But every update I run over to look at it, just in case

Anyway, jumping is cool, but I’ve also had my fair share of jump hate too. Do you know how many times I died at that part in the Dark Reverie jumping puzzle? Over ni…oh, forget it.

Oh man! THAT part. Uggggggh. I fell off so many times and just laid there HOPING someone would be coming by. Laying there in that cold, dark place……and finally giving up and having to redo Spiral again and then run through the Court again and then fall AGAIN. Gaaaaaaah.

But I do love them. Just not that one.

I just got a 50mb update when I logged in, no notes. I’m not miffed, just curious. Just bug fixes?

Post a pic of your character only if your armor is mix-n-match

Here’s my ranger.

Trooper headpiece (same as CM headpiece, but drops in story)
CoF Shoulders
HotW chestpiece
HotW pants
CoE gloves
AC boots

Main colors used is: Scarlet, Oilslick and Abyss (for boots)

Though once I get enough badges, I am switching out my HotW coat for a WvW invader coat. I like the texture better.

I also have a Rox’s quiver to complete the ranger look.

If nothing else happens, JUST LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO EVENNIA. Write a story or something and just fill in the gaps!
