As I said above, this is not true. I have an invisible bag as the last of my bags, and my weapons always land in it, and not in the first available space. The trick is to make sure that if you’re switching from one handed weapons to a two handed weapon, there is a space next to the two-handed weapon.
This is good to know, as having to move weapons back to my invisible bag after going between 1 and 2-handers has annoyed me forever, but you’re not being quite specific enough. My testing indicates that you need to have the space after the weapon free, not just a space next to it. The space before it does not work. And I can tell already that I’m still going to have to move things around on occasion, as the offhand will be going into that specific slot rather than the one it occupied originally, so that’s going to cause things to move around the bag and fill slots that need to be empty on occasion.
I just got that mail again too. I shouldn’t have GWAMM ankitten ot aware of ever having had it, I had 15 or so HoM points and now that’s all gone. It looks like GW1 is down, that must be causing the issue.
It’s funny how PvP players are always trying to “convert” PvE players yet you rarely see the opposite happening. Why would that be, I wonder….
I’m sorry, but explaining the concept of a dailies PvP server is not in any way trying to convert people to PvP. It’s attempting to help people who seem to have no idea how to get their dailies on some days. Dailies PvP servers are not PvP- nobody is trying to convert people to playing PvP by explaining them. I think a lot of us who actually play PvP think that dailies servers are laughable, have never set foot in one, and wondered why they were allowed to exist. But they do, and so people who refuse to even consider looking at one are going to be told about them, especially if they seem to be as confused as some people in this thread who seem to think that you need to be “geared” for PvP.
I had that happen to me too. Thankfully not in Trib mode. I’m scared to ever even try to do that stage in Trib now because of that bug. :/
Skalefound Cove also has this issue.
And finally it appeared in my inventory- I had to switch to another character and it was in my inventory when I went back to the one who was trying to withdraw it.
I have noticed once or twice in the past that the guild bank sometimes seems to ‘lag’ when withdrawing at item, and it doesn’t appear in my inventory right away but disappears from the bank, and then I start to panic that it just got destroyed. And then I move something in my inventory or something and it appears.
But this time it has been over 10 minutes since I removed an item and it is still gone, except it’s not really gone. It has apparently become invisible and unusable in the guild bank- the slot where it was stored is now unusable. It is not in my inventory. I have tried closing my inventory, closing the guild bank window, and even switching to rep another guild and looking again, and still the problem persists. The slot (5th row down, 2nd column of the Treasure Trove) will not accept any other items being moved into it. And yes, I tried dragging the apparently invisible item out of the slot to another one, to no effect.
Thanks for the response, Seth. I hope this upcoming feature will have a toggle option, as I imagine people in guilds with 500 members might not want their maps to be obliterated by yellow dots.
Last week there was some change to the the party member dot on the map. It’s always been a blue circle that shows up at the edge of the minimap when the party member is off that section of the minimap.
I party with a friend a lot and we’re in the same guild, and last week he started showing up as a yellow splotch sometimes instead of a blue dot. The same for him, he sees this issue too. There is no consistency to the way this is applied- sometimes he will be blue dot, sometimes he will be yellow splotch. I tested it tonight and it does appear to be related to being in the same guild, as he was yellow and then I switched to another guild and he turned blue, then back to our same guild and he eventually turned yellow again.
This change is not a good one- I’m presuming it was intentional, but it’s clearly bugged because of the inconsistency of it. We’ll go to a map and I’ll see him as blue and he sees me as yellow, then we go somewhere else and it’s reversed, or we’re both yellow or both blue, and we have no idea why.
Also, the yellow splotch looks terrible, it’s not even a dot. It’s like someone took the MS Paint dot icon and then smudged it a bit. The blue dot is a clear, easily identifiable indicator while the yellow splotch is just visual noise. But most importantly, the lack of visibility on the minimap is a killer. This is a useful function, denoting which direction to look in for your party member! Yellow Splotch version does not do this and thus is a significant downgrade. Why would you take away a useful part of the UI like that?
I hope that Arenanet has implemented some in-game warning system for people who do not read the forums, or simply don’t keep track of time that well. If someone does their first key mission on character 1 and is also playing character 2’s story at the same rate and gets to character 2’s key mission two days later, are they simply going to get no key in their mission loot?
I hope that they would be given a warning prompt when starting the mission- “You have already received your weekly Black Lion Key reward for the level 10 story. You must wait until 17:00PST on September 22 to complete this story instance if you wish to receive this reward upon completion.” Or even hold the key and mail it to them the next week.
Continuing from that post…
Maybe it’s the fact that Trahearne is actually a stable, consistent character that people don’t like. Or actually, maybe it’s the fact that he’s given as a replacement for your Order mentor, who in most cases is a more engaging character whom people actually like. (Although why people actually like Tybalt is beyond me. When people talk about their character being forced to react in ways that they absolutely would not choose, they never mention him for some reason even though he is the most teeth-grittingly obnoxious example of this, ever! He is a total dunderhead who could easily have gotten me killed and my character is supposed to be cool with this and think he’s an awesome partner, wtf?!)
But yeah, none of what people say about Trahearne is actually true. I don’t know where they get it from. It’s quite clear throughout the storyline that he’s a humble, reluctant leader who values your help greatly because you’re obviously the most reliable and capable person around. He’s the official leader because he’s a neutral party that all the Orders can accept, this is explicitly spelled out for you. And he works closely with you, the most capable person in the army, giving you the important tasks while he basically acts as a figurehead.
Maybe that’s what people don’t like, they don’t like the thought of being ranked beneath a guy who isn’t all Raging Bad-kitten Hulk Smash!!! Because the common gripe of “Trahearne steals all our glory, that thankless kitten” just is not true at all. What does he say when you initiate dialogue with him? “I’m pleased you’re here.” What does he say when you retake Claw Island? “I will make plans with the leaders of the orders and gather troops at that location. You deserve some well-earned rest, my friend. Join me when you are ready, and together, we will find a way to slay Zhaitan.”What does he say to you after you defeat Zhaitan? “The world owes you a great debt, Commander. As long as I am Marshal of the Pact, I will see that debt honored.” I guess this constant reminder of how respectful Trahearne is actually has the opposite effect on some people and makes them unable to respect him because it makes them see him as weak and they therefore disdain everything about him. That does seem to be a trend in modern storytelling- there is no place for respect among comrades, they’ve always got to be snarking and mouthing off as an ironic way of showing they care.
Uh… I’m going to assume the people here heaping praise on GW1’s story haven’t actually played it in 10 years, because as someone who’s played GW2 everyday for 2 1/2 years, done all the Personal Story and all the Living Story, and acquired GW1 last year… GW1 is nowhere near as good. The story of the Prophecies campaign is disjointed and the writing is just astoundingly bad in places. It’s an old game, yeah, I can cut it some slack, but holding it up as an example of what to emulate… no. No. No. No.
Prophecies has no character development whatsoever. It barely has characters. There’s plenty of people with names, but they do nothing besides maybe one line of dialogue to give you any sense of their character. Even after playing through 3/4ths of the campaign, right now I don’t think I could give you the name of a single Prophecies character who doesn’t also have some sort of reference to them in GW2.
Your own character is no better. You have no choices in what you do. How do all the people complaining about not being able to do whatever they want in GW2’s story not remember that you’re even more enslaved to the storyline in GW1? You don’t even have varying dialogue options and branching storyline paths like you at least get sometimes here. The entire storyline consists of you doing the things other people tell you that you should do. You run around Ascalon fighting Charr with Rurik and follow him as he leads the refugees to Kryta, then obliviously join up with the not at all suspicious White Mantle and do weird stuff for them. Then you suddenly turn against them because you found some Shining Blade rebels who told you that the White Mantle are actually the evildoers, womg!! So you do what they say for a bit until disaster strikes, then listen to the also not at all suspicious Vizier of Orr who inexplicably knows what happened to your Shining Blade allies and what you need to do to help them, so you go running off to the Crystal Desert to Ascend and follow a giant ghost Turai Ossa around doing the crap he couldn’t do, even if it makes no sense (hey, if you can’t stop the ritual to fuse the Vision Crystal pieces after starting it, how about just waiting to start the ritual until I’ve collected them all instead of forcing me to get them all to you within 15 minutes, huh?). And then you do what Glint says and rescue some Shining Blade, and now I guess it’s back to doing what Ican’trememberhername Shining Blade leader says! Oh yeah, I totally feel like I’m in charge of what my character is doing and I’m not just running around being directed by others due to narrative necessity. Ha.
And there’s apparently a 5001 limit on post length, so…
I don’t think that article says anything about whether the new legendary precursors can drop or not. The context seems pretty clear that they’re talking about the original set of legendary precursors, which obviously can be acquired as drops.
Let’s use the Moot as an example. A moot is a norn celebration of prowess, so that’s the basis of our themes for the legendary mace named for it. The first collection is all about the hunt, so you’ll be proving your abilities by fighting fierce creatures around Tyria and acquiring a trophy to show for it. By completing this collection, you’ll unlock a recipe to craft the first iteration of your precursor—a nontradable exotic weapon with a distressed version of the existing precursor skin.
It’s explaining the new precursor crafting system using an existing precursor as an example. I’d infer that all precursors will go through the same three-tier crafting system as described in the article, but just because some precursors can drop in the world doesn’t mean all can. It would be rather strange if they could, as then you’d end up with a precursor you may have no interest in turning into a legendary and no ability to sell. It’d be the Dry Top fossilized insects all over again, before they had a vendor who’d exchange them for something or had a PvP track to hand them out. Except even more aggravating.
Every time someone makes one of these threads, I’m reminded of just how glad I am that those dumb animations are gone. And I darn well hope they stay gone until they give us toggleable options so that my guardian isn’t forced to appear cutesy and sensuous just for having the temerity to be a female human. Give me that male Norn fist-smacking!
Yes, I don’t know what on earth this change was supposed to do, but it horribly broke teleports. They weren’t perfect before- there were some ways to abuse it by teleporting places you shouldn’t be able to and sometimes it wouldn’t work even if there was a clear path, but it is many times worse now. I’ve repeatedly had Judge’s Intervention go on full cooldown for teleports that fail to do anything despite there being a straight, and to my eye unobstructed line to the target.
Meanwhile, I see and have managed to pull off teleports up to ledges which do not have a clear path. In the room where Eye of Zhaitan spawns, for instance, I’ve been able to use both the Thief and Guardian sword teleports to teleport up to enemies on the ledge from the ground 20 feet below. And most jaw-droppingly abusively, I’ve seen thieves using teleports to get up to the ledges overlooking the midpoint on Forest of Niflhel (and managed to do it myself too, albeit unintentionally with the mesmer’s downed teleport). Being able to teleport up there is absurd- you have to run basically the entire length of the map to get there.
I’m pretty aggravated by this, particularly since there was no notice. I have at least one map in which all I needed to do was go grab a PoI and skillpoint in the corner and haven’t done so because I could do so at any time so there was no rush. Had I known that this was coming I could have gone and done that, but they did not announce this change in advance and nobody even knew when the patch would be coming, at that. There was no need for this change in the first place, and absolutely no reason not to warn of it. Talk about pulling the rug out from under people.
The one with the holographic wings, I’m guessing? I’d say that’s a mesmer- she appears to be dual-wielding glowing swords (Chaos skins probably) which may be responsible for light effects, or it might be the armor, or a skill. Aegis could’ve come from a guardian nearby, or could be self-generated through the Signet that grants random boons.
Guardian could also work, especially on the melee/range divide. They get plenty of tools for all ranges.
No. Guardian is right up there with thief on the “highly melee-centric” list. They have one single, slow-casting ranged weapon and a close-range weapon. You really don’t want to have to range things with a guardian.
I bought the skin simply because how cheap it is. I like collecting a nice variety of armour pieces and the cheaper the better
You are not the only one.
I think if unique loot like Mordrem organs were to possibly drop from the normal SW events, people would have much more incentive to do the whole round instead of jumping about. Yeah, Mordrem organs dropping from a random defense event doesn’t make much sense when you’re supposed to need to extract them underground, but surely some other item could be devised and worked into the process.
The Thoughtless Potion tonic acquired from the end of Season 1 provides devil horns that float above your head. I used it in the new Living Story episode last night with this rather amusing result… http://i.imgur.com/Psl9oYD.jpg
My data is that I can access the bank in my own guild which I created and am the default Leader rank. I cannot access my other guild’s bank, which is the first one on my list and the first one I became a member of, and normally am representing including when I logged in. This guild does have custom ranks- mine has access to Activate Built Upgrades, Admin Lower Ranks, Display Emblem, Guild Stash Deposit, Guild Stash Withdraw, Treasure Trove Deposit, Treasure Trove Withdraw.

I remembered hating this game last year because it was boring and annoying, but the Labyrinth was like that too last year and was obviously fixed, so I gave this game a try again.
It wasn’t fixed.
Joined a match with about 4 minutes left on the timer, was a courtier, ran around trying to find villagers fruitlessly. Found what was apparently an NPC who was invulnerable, had no idea why she was there but was annoyed by it standing there acting like an enemy. Couldn’t even tell if villagers so much as existed, because everyone in the game was apparently just on a big long list with no team differentiation, so long that it scrolled past the edge of the window and was unreadable. I was actually in a match with my friend who’d joined a minute or two earlier and I had no idea until it was almost over because I couldn’t see his name on the player list for several minutes. He told me there was actually a villager or two left when I joined, but I have no idea how he knew this other than the fact that he caught one, because there is no roster. Got no achievement credit for the Festival achievement and basically no loot for this waste of time running around an empty labyrinth.
I tried again several days later when the daily was up again despite this incredibly boring and distasteful experience, and despite having been told by my friend that villagers can be seen on the minimap by standing on the portal spots, it was no better of an experience. Still no way of telling if there were actually villagers in the game, and when I used the portal vision and went after a red dot, it turned out to be that same blasted invulnerable NPC, not a villager. And still no achievement credit/loot. So I still hate it. I’m sure it could be fixed up to be a decent game but since I never even got to experience what is supposedly supposed to be happening…
Wanted to report a bug that the backitems for engineers now are invisible if you wear a kit’s hobosack.
“Are now”? This is not new. Back items have a tendency to disappear at times and it’s particularly noticeable for engis due to kits, but I’ve had my thief’s back piece disappear for a while as well. Usually my engi has either the kit backpack or her wings displayed, but at times I’ve gotten both at the same time, and I think I may have also gotten neither showing. It’s quite silly and rather annoying.
Same happened to me, and the two friends I’ve mentioned it to. I correctly had one Jade Dragon weapon unlocked when I first logged in several hours after the patch, then yesterday I noticed that for some reason I now also have credit for 4 Aetherized, 1 Fused and 1 Dreamthistle skin. I do not own any of these, nor did the ones I checked appear in my wardrobe, only the collections.
They make the game; they are where bits of personality and flare come out and I have gotten very used to it.
Personality and flare? What about those of us who don’t want our characters to have an oh-so-cutesy personality? I roll my eyes frequently when I see those. I’d like to be able to choose which animations I have, not get consigned to being ‘cute/sexy’ for daring to be female!
Had this issue just now as well. Went into fractals with a group of friends and a minute in, I disconnected. Tried many times to reconnect, once in a while it would let me log in and load into Lion’s Arch but trying to get back into the fractal would disconnect me again. Most of the time it would just sit there at the login screen and give me a network error message.
Tried changing my DNS server in case my ISP was having issues, tried rebooting, came back and still kept having the same issues. Eventually it let me connect enough to get back into the fractal for maybe two minutes to start the boss fight, then disconnected again. Was able to get back in right away that time, although since I died due to disconnect the party wiped and we had to restart. A minute after we kill the boss, I disconnect again. So no more fractals tonight! After that I had no issues for the next 15 minutes or so I stayed, despite switching characters repeatedly.
I got both error codes 5:11:3:159:101 and 19.9.18.1607.101 during this whole thing. Of course, there’s nowhere to look them up…
It is extremely important for an author to be genre savvy. You don’t tell an epic legend like you do a buddy cop comedy
Really?
looks at Tybalt
Why does everyone love this dummy, then?
Definitely agree with the suggestion of being able to have different types of animations, whether as a toggleable option, tied to the personality system, or something that I can reasonably alter. It gets tiring how I’m always supposed to have some air of cuteness or sexiness. Who the heck would normally sit like female characters do?
Anything but Guardian should have at least one way of being a decent roamer. Maybe Necros aren’t so great at it either, haven’t played that class and I don’t recall ever really running into any who do that, not that I WvW much.
“Sorry, I gotta go. I have the 4:15 Fire Shaman I gotta catch.”
If you want to make Tyria feel more like people’s dreary real lives, you’ve succeeded.
This. So, so much this.
Been like that for me for days too on Firefox. I finally tried Chrome and got here to see this and it worked, thanks. I did use the button Firefox has to clear all cookies earlier because I couldn’t find the setting to look for individual cookies- that is not at all an intuitive menu setup Mozilla’s got there. :/
Engineer backpacks are definitely glitchy with the visuals. I think you’re supposed to have the backpack displayed when you have a kit equipped and the backpiece when you don’t, but at times I’ve managed to have both displayed or neither. I seem to recall emotes messing with it.
I would really like to have the option to turn the backpack off and just display my wings all the time instead of the backpack most of the time. :/
Zhaitaffy vendor is a hugely wrong comparison.
It isn’t wrong just because you say it’s wrong. It seems exactly the same thing to me, other than the candy not being something you necessarily ‘earned’ like glory is (which makes glory even more important to keep useful).
Disagree all you want, don’t shoot the messenger delivering the message that Arenanet will never ever convert Glory to Gold.
What is this obsession with Gold you have? How is giving people a bunch of rabbit rewards chests containing some random PvP skins giving them gold?
- Convert the remaining glory to gold? Every player with significant glory will engineer how much glory they want to spend, and convert the rest into gold. Anet is very against a glory -> Gold conversion.
And I mentioned converting to the rewards chests that are currently bought with it. What’s wrong with auto-converting into those? People who were proactive would get more ability to choose what to buy, but people who didn’t aren’t left out in the cold.
- It is difficult to leave the NPC sitting there. Anet is trying to get people to use the actual ladders/new reward system that will be in, once the Glory vendor is gone.
Why is it difficult? Was it difficult to leave the Zhaitaffy vendor sitting around in LA for months after the Dragon Bash event ended? Once the new rewards system is in, obviously people will be using that for their new rewards, but why should past rewards earned be forfeit?
- It’ll be months and months before the Glory Vendor goes, in favor of the all-new rewards system. I don’t have much sympathy for the players who’ve hid under a rock for 3-8 months from the game, without checking updates or logging on for 5 minutes to purchase their phat gears. Lol.
You don’t have to “hide under a rock” to not pay attention to proposed future updates. Especially those of us who don’t actually do sPVP very often probably aren’t paying that much attention to it. And I really hope the folk at Arenanet have more concern for the satisfaction of their customers than you do- imagine them giving “I don’t have much sympathy for you, LOL” as a response to irritated players. :o
Please, removing glory vendors seems a needlessly punitive thing to do. What purpose does it serve to remove the ability to use your rewards? Is it really that difficult to leave one NPC standing around selling things for glory? Once people stop being able to earn glory, the use of the NPC will drop. At the least, automatically convert unspent glory to some tangible form like gold/reward chests so people are compensated if they didn’t get to a glory vendor by some arbitrarily scheduled date.
You know that there will be many people who have earned glory who don’t pay much attention to upcoming changes and suddenly one day find that they can no longer spend the glory that they have earned. They will not be happy about having their earned rewards taken away from them for no reason.
You know that there will be people who have taken a break from the game who have earned glory and then one day come back, only to find that all their glory is useless. This will not at all encourage them to stick around again, it will make them angry that their hard-earned rewards are being taken away.
Bottom line: glory is an earned currency and if it is being rendered obsolete, it should either still be spendable or be converted automatically to a still-usable form.
I am also very concerned about the availability of this new skill. I certainly hope that Arenanet realizes what a horribly unfair situation they would have created if they make the new skill not available to everyone permanently; but I am not quite ready to assume that because it would be horribly unfair to only give it to certain people that that situation will not happen anyway.
Upon further reflection I suppose it’s also possible that this happened because the instance creator left the party- there were only three other people still in the party when I was able to get back into the game. I’m not sure who started the instance, so it might’ve been the person who was no longer there, I’d just figured he got kicked too but got back in earlier and promptly left the party. I have no idea why he would’ve left the party though when we were almost done.
We weren’t changing fractals when we were forced out. We were right in the middle of a fight at the seals in Cliffside. We probably moved into that fractal after the patch was out, so if that was the reason we’d have been kicked then, not in the middle of a fight.
(edited by GeminiArcher.7809)
My party was just doing a round of fractals when the warning that a new patch would be available soon showed up. We definitely got the “your game will restart in 2 hours and 45 minutes warning” after the patch became available, and then about five minutes ago, without any other warning, boom. We were all kicked out while we were on the third fractal and lost all our progress. We didn’t even have the hour that people in regular PvE get before being forced to get the new patch, let alone the three that instanced content is supposed to have.
If all your 9 points are from the dailies, not doing Aetherpath, you can get 10 easily enough just by entering the dungeon and talking to Caithe at the start. Don’t need a group or anything.
There is no daily for the Twilight Assault meta today, so I think it’s probably safe to say that it’s finished come the update tomorrow.
Apparently people (you) don’t pay attention, since you just completely ignored everything I said in my post.
Just because that’s been the case so far doesn’t make it true forever. All the second living story updates we’ve had have been pretty obvious continuations of the first part (aside from last month which was SAB and thus obviously unrelated to anything else). It looks like we’re getting something completely different on Tuesday though. In fact, if Tuesday’s Halloween update is supposed to be the second part and will go away in two weeks to follow the pattern, the Halloween update will be gone before Halloween…
The single achievement in the living story category will go away at the end of the month.
Your link doesn’t say anything on the subject of when it will go away.
[BUG] Trib Mode W1Z3 Not Awarding Achievement

Exact same thing just happened to me. Got the chest, decided to dig while I waited for the timer and dug up a bunny which knocked me into the acid so I was up by the checkpoint (in fact I think I fell into the acid up there right as the timer finished counting down).
I spent over FIVE HOURS on this zone. This is not an acceptable way to code achievements. First the fiasco with the Invasion Canceler (I must’ve spent thirty hours on that due to having to do almost every zone 2-3 times) and now this.
I was just doing the level 4 Sylvari story mission Hounds and the Hunted, which is started in Caledon Forest, and while in it I was surprised and a bit annoyed to complete the Ascalonian Killer category to complete my daily. A story mission started in Caledon should count for Maguuman Killer, not Ascalonian. Cost me several silver in rewards, finishing the daily by surprise with a low level character instead of an 80. :/
The event “Help Tekki fight off creatures swarming from the asura gate” appears to be bugged. I entered the Ulta Metamagicals area two days ago and began working on completing the heart quest, of which one option is to collect crystals to give to Tekki. I collected quite a few and found Tekki, but I could not give them to her. The Help Tekki event was displayed in her area, claiming that griffons need to be killed, however there were no griffons or anything else present to be able to finish the event.
I left and returned again tonight, hoping to be able to give the crystals to her now, but I find it in the same state. There are no enemies to fight for the event, so it does not do anything, and is most likely what is causing Tekki and the merchant by her to not react properly by accepting crystals/acting as a vendor.
