Living World Story so solo unfriendly

The fight against the Justiciar is crazy! You have to fight endless spawning enemy and need to discharge the shield or this could go on forever. Seriously WTF is this? Isn’t solo story going to get everyone experience the story?

it’s more that the fight is HORRENDOUSLY explained and the prior experiences with the 2 golems prior expects you to pay absolute attention to how you removed the shield.

while absorbing the bloodstone magic you MUST have the beam passing through the foe, this will deal damage to her shield/breakbar (the next boss also does this as well)

Sure, SAB is unique… but high-quality content? No profit (at least none I’ve found anyway- new to SAB), no XP… no real ties to the game beyond Moto’s experiment. I didn’t grow up on 8-bit, platformer games… so I’m not really seeing the hype here.

I mean, if they want to make it permanent they can, but in a year or two of that you’ll be wondering why there’s constantly updates to LS or expansions but never new levels to SAB (here’s why, SAB is a mini game and not directly related to GW’s story). It’s great as a festival though (better than the Dragon one that’s solely PvP), but permanent content WITH experience (dungeons) are dead because tokens to grind skins isn’t incentive enough (either because everyone has the skins already, which SAB will fall into, or because they don’t feel they’re worth the time).

The no XP thing really takes all the fun out of playing this for me, I’ve spent 2-3 hours in there today and, ultimately, feel like I have nothing to show for it. No weapon skins, barely any bauble bubbles, and no new levels. 2-3 hours is 3-4 levels just exploring the world.

As a casual player, it is kinda daunting to realize that- in the 19 days- I might be able to earn 1 weapon skin from this, ultimately what turned me off of the Wintersday ascended thing, as a casual (30mins-1hr, under normal circumstances) there was no way to earn that other than to drop lots of real world money on it and pray to the luck goddess that I get in some snowball fights that my team miraculously wins.

SAB prizes are in the same boat for me, 35 bauble bubbles (not to mention gold- another thing SAB doesn’t provide, not even 1 copper in those 2.5 hours) and 2.5 hours has only earned me 2. I probably won’t bother. If it was permanent, still wouldn’t bother because- again- there is absolutely no character progression within that part of the game beyond unlocking things for SAB.

As for ‘recruiting new players’ , I point to the no XP thing again. It might be a nice gimick to get them to play, but after they spend 5 hours in it, get out and realize they’re still level 2… I don’t want to know how they’d react to that.

Are you seriously asking semi-casual players to GTFO of your game?

EDIT: I did not want to go in detail of RNG involved in legendary crafting as many of those have already been well publicized in social media. I noticed someone was arguing about RNG vs. logging, so I felt compelled to edit the OP. For example of RNG in Legendary crafting look at Bifrost. Bifrost crafting Tier III requires a character to get encased in Shatterer’s crystal attack. Good Luck w/ that RNG; you will need it.

I also got PMs claiming that I made this post because I did not want to work hard to get such an “exclusive” item. I think attached screenie should tell a different story. It’s shameful that people would like to troll and beat around the bushes when a serious problem exists in this game and devs are apparently clueless about how to fix them.

So, here is my question to the designer:

What is legendary about this weapon that a player is trying to build?

IMHO, you should have started storyboarding from there and not from the idea of making a skin that would be “expensive and time consuming”.

Legendary Armor Options?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Konig Des Todes.2086

Konig Des Todes.2086

First raid boss actually does attribute to the trinity now that there is a viable healer and the Vale Guardian focuses primarily (if not solely) on the individual with highest toughness.

In my attempts, dodging felt second-nature and not mandatory… but then again I was playing necro and only my health bar didn’t go under 80% at every individual attack but only on frequent attacks.

Anyways, legendary gear is meant to be gated behind all content. The method of unlocking the first varies. For example, you have the fractal backpiece gated behind, you guessed it, fractals! You have original precursors’ new collections gated behind Central Tyria experience and doing second HoT story instance. The original legendaries gated behind core PvE maps and dungeons/PvP. The new HoT weapons are gated behind HoT PvE maps, with both having a soft-gate to WvW+PvP.

Seriously, can we stop the “omg the best gear is gated behind difficulty content” threads? They’re not gated just behind them. They’re gated behind a lot of things. You can’t get it from just WvW just like you can’t get standard legendaries from just doing Silverwastes all day long (purchasing from TP not counting)!

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Tell me the truth: Warrior and PVE

in Warrior

Thuggernaut.1250

“Truth” is pretty hard to come by. We can give you more opinions though…

Before HoT, Warrior always had a place in the dungeon meta as a Phalanx Strength/Banner bot. Greatsword still does excellent damage with tons of might stacking in PvE. You really can’t go wrong with Warrior for general PvE, and it probably still has a place in most dungeon meta groups that don’t have a Herald.

That said, Herald does what Phalanx Strength/Banner Warrior did, and better. That doesn’t make Warrior any less “powerful” for dungeons and PvE content, but generally speaking, Herald is going to be more desirable to most groups.

If you’re just playing PvE, I wouldn’t discourage you from leveling a Warrior. Just know that you will only be able to run one shoehorned build (Phalanx Strength meta), and if there is a Herald floating around, that player will probably get a spot on the team before you.

As for Berserker, I haven’t tested it extensively, but generally condi builds are hated by the dungeon meta “community” (I use the word community loosely). Berserker gets the most mileage from condi builds, so if you run a power or hybrid build with Berserker, you will probably catch flak from dungeon groups.

I’ve had great fun spamming Gunflame as a Berserker in PvE, but it probably won’t win any DPS awards. If you’re looking for super competitive PvE DPS numbers, don’t bother with Berserker at all.

OK, now I see what people are complaining about. I started on the 2nd tier yesterday. It’s one more thing. Oh, and one more thing. One more. Just one more. So far, I must have dropped about 700 G worth of stuff. That’s whether I bought it, or what I had and is worth on the TP. And I still am not done. This is crazy. I wish I knew exactly what was going to be needed ahead of time so I could have just compared prices and said, screw this.

Like many posters have said, this was supposed to be a journey. It’s obviously a gold sink and a material sink for things like mithril and elder wood in order to take that stuff out of the economy.

Here’s an idea: have more than one type of metal or wood node in all the end zone maps. That will take out the rarity of these things, rather than punishing those of us who would like to craft something by using us as your tool. Because at the end of the day, when enough time passes, your’re going to still have the same problem.

We warned you guys countless times.

For those who defend this, they’re either at part 1 or haven’t even start the precursor crafting yet.

Also, I can tell you one more depressing news. Currently almost ALL of them are bugged in part 3, that the progress is completely blocked because there’re 1 or 2 part bugged and cannot progress. Many people have been waiting for 2 weeks and still no fix for it.

So not only you spend way more money on this precursor crafting, you also have to suffer from excessive bugs that God knows when Anet would fix it.

You officially wasted 700~1000g, and waste another one week doing random scavenger hunt, and waste another month waiting for Anet to fix the bugs to get that precursor.

This “journey” is the worst experience of all time in GW2 history, and the worst system Anet ever created, untested, inconsiderate (of materials inflation), and unfun.

ThatDamnRat.1236

precursor crafting was never meant to be a way to get the precursor cheaper than the tp it is just a way to get a precursor out of RNG something you can work towards rather than hoping it would randomly drop.

get it through your thick skulls devs never ever mentioned it to be cheap or free it was stated multiple times it will retain the cost of the precursor in the market.

How about you get it through your thick skull that people were expecting this to involve hunting specific materials in challenging in world content, not a brick wall of materials in volumes that are impractical to farm personally and need to be bought from the TP at prices that are as much or more than buy the precursor directly – and then to get stone-walled by insurmountable RNG barriers. Add to that developing the mastery involves grinding kitten-loads of xp that could be used for other more practically useful, and it becomes a fool’s choice to craft it over just buying them.

People wanted them to replace numbing grind with gameplay, they chose to replace it with even more numbing grind, stop defending this.

I never understood why some people are so intent on playing MMOs in bubble.

What bubble? Just because I want to hide some things that I don’t care about? A lot of people have their character quality set to low or even lowest, which makes you see a generic armor set, are those people also playing on a bubble?

I think he was referring to people who want to play an MMO but go to great lengths to minimize human interaction to the point of single-player mode. Those people really do exist in great numbers and it is quite confusing…

A couple weeks ago there was a thread asking to be able to visually block people. That means chat, character avatar, mini pet, skill effects, EVERYTHING. Basically make it like they don’t even exist. There’s also frequently threads talking about the viability of soloing dungeons or other content, and threads asking to add NPC henchmen to the game to form parties instead of with real human players.

I get that your request doesn’t fit this extreme, but it seems along those lines in some way.

[SUGGESTION] Hand health features

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Here are some changes that I think should be done to improve hand health while playing this game:

Crafting improvements:

Inventory improvements:

  • All remaining one-time instant effect consumables like essences of luck, drinks that count for thirst slayer and potions of karma should get the Consume All context menu entry.
  • All containers, bags, boxes and packaged goods that produce random loot on use should get a right click context menu option to “Open all”. Choosing that option would open a small panel that looks like the bottom half of the crafting window in the crafting panel, with a progress bar and a cancel button, and stopping automatically if the inventory is full.
  • Transferring items between the bank and the inventory should require single clicks from the bank panel. Same with the collections panel.
  • Hidden tabs or closed bags should be ignored when transferring items between the ban and the inventory by clicking them.
  • Empty slots in invisible bags should be the last to be filled by the system (e.g.: Looted items, crafter items, items from loot bags…). If there’s any other empty slot in the inventory, getting an item should put it in hat other slot instead, giving priority to the player to use invisible bag slots.

Salvage improvements

  • An option to bypass the salvage confirmation dialog could be added. For example, once this option is enabled, clicking with Shift+click with the salvage cursor prompt would not make the confirmation appear.

Autoattack improvement

  • When a ground-targeted skill has auto-attack enabled, holding the left mouse button or skill key down should keep the ground target marker visible and attempt to continuously use that skill on the target marker instead having to repeatedly press them.
  • A toggle option could be added. So using the skill once starts autoattacking, and using the skill again stops autoattacking, instead having to holster the weapon to stop.

Autotarget improvement:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/SUGGESTION-Hand-health-features/3835695

Toggleable Ctrl and Alt:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Hand-health-features/3839248
(I ran out of space!)

What other features you think could be added to reduce strain in our hands while playing?

Done!

  • You can disable activating objects with right clik in the options panel!
  • We can salvage in bulk!
  • When transferring stackable items from and to the bank, the client searches for stacks of the same item, and tries to send then directly to the stack!
  • Vendors got a spinner and number boxes to buy in bulk!
  • Recipes from consumables are now account bound (except a few bugged ones, report those if you find them!)!

Eval.2371

Totally feel your pain with Mesmers. To be honest there is very little you can do, there are things that help but they really wont make much of a difference…

You can use gs 4 to block shatters… however if they daze you then throw their clones/shatter your a sitting duck regardless.

You could get more toughness/hp… but really that class is not struggling to take tanks down even. I have 24.4k in wvw yet they seem excel at blowing my ranger up.

For condi Mesmer the wilderness knowledge trait is amazing for the condi clear and often you can combine it with mobility to OC while your pet keeps them in combat.

Really the only thing you can do is hope you get a lucky pull with path of scars, or rapid fire that follows while they go invis and burst them down before they can do the same to you. Aside from that avoidance is your best bet. sword+x / greatsword is a great set to escape from them with mobility.

I really hope Anet reconsiders either their damage/stealth. make stealth disable item a use able tool or give us other options to deal with the issue.

Additionally something needs to be done about Mesmer detonation, there is absolutely no counter play of any sort to 5 Mesmer all looking the same, poping out from stealth and detonating on you. I’m seeing it more and more as every day passes.

So far they’ve been every other Tuesday except for the times they weren’t every other Tuesday but either skipped a Tuesday or didn’t skip a Tuesday but was the following Tuesday in which case the Tuesday following the Tuesday that was or was not skipped then became the new every other Tuesday.

I hope that clears it up.

In all honest they should just merge the bottom tier servers into more mid tier/mid pop servers. Especially if the experience is as dead and devoid of life as you say it is (I’m not doubting you btw). This way you would get more WvW participation out of the mid tier servers, and you can simply take those old bottom tier servers offline, or Reallocate them to some other task.

From the world bosses I’ve done since the health update (I haven’t done them all), only Tequatl was troublesome. I’d imagine triple wurm would be too.

Claw felt perfect in health, but needs more mechanics to the fight to be worthwhile.

Karka Queen is still too weak in every field.

Inquest Golem Mk II was…. it’s questionable. The health feels a bit high, and it does too few attacks with too high damage (those electric fields…).

So I do not think that all world bosses should be reduced in health. Some should, others could use a buff still. And a buff does not mean solely increased health, but improved mechanics too.

I think this says it all.

Do we really want people excluded from things, on the basis that they were in hospital at the time?

Is that anything to be proud of?

Of course it isn’t.

I made a TL;DR comment before, as I have talked about this subject so much, previously (elsewhere), I have bored myself.

But, just to clarify:

If you really like the way something looks, you don’t care how many other people have it, or not.

Whereas, if the only reason you think you like something, is because other people don’t have it and can’t get it, you should really reassess your priorities in life and work on developing your own, individual, sense of style.

…because it is far better to dress your char in the skin of a 2s pair of Leather Shoes, with style, than it is to dress them in an “exclusive” item, without any.

It’s not even like the quality of materials used is an issue, in a virtual world.

This game will probably always have to charge for vanity items, as that is how it makes its money.

But there is no need to add to that less than ideal situation, by creating artificial, time-gated exclusivity, as well.
