I can confirm that. I spent the entire weekend that time farming the Molten Facility just hoping I could get a jetpack. Sadly, I never got one, and to make things worse, I was incredibly irritated and cranky during the entire weekend—to the point where I put off my guild. Long story short, RNGesus was unkind to me back then and the loot system still sucks now as it did then.

None of that matters anyway. Whatever we did in the game so far, we already paid for and whether we paid a lot, or only for the original game, we don’t need to take that into consideration when we look at how we value what’s offered in the expansion.

I don’t have a problem with the expansion. I got almost 3 years of entertainment from my first $50; it has paid for itself many times over. I don’t see paying another $50 now for an expansion as ‘paying double’.

Anet’s real mistake here was in the way it was communicated; they screwed up the presentation in a way that made a lot of existing players feel like they were being ripped off (even though they aren’t).

A treadmill is something you walk on in real life and it gets you nowhere. That’s the definition of a treadmill.

In most MMOs, every time there’s an expansion, and sometimes even between expansions, new tiers of gear are revealed. These tiers of gear invalidate the work you did last time, because you have to go and get new max level gear. But after you do that, you have to do it again. Hence it’s a treadmill.

Anet has said straight out that ascended gear will be the highest tier of gear, so it really can’t be called a treadmill. For example, if you already have ascended gear, and many people do, they’re not having to go out and get new gear.

There was already a difference between exotics and ascended, Anet is, if these new patch notes turn out to be accurate, increasing that difference. But does that make it a treadmill. No. Because once you have that gear, you won’t have to get it again. It’s the last tier. You get it, and you’re done. Thus not a treadmill.

HoT is a minimum of 0.9p a month in cost, Im sorry but how much closer to free can i honestly want a kitten game xD..

Over-Self Entitliment is a vicious cycle and adopted by so many, u PAID the inital price of the game to play that game for 3 years without a single other required charge, that debt has been fullfilled, the expansion was going to be $50 with or without the inital game.

The self-entitlement is unreal. All the content they’ve given people over the past 3 years and asking for kitten price for a expansion is COMPLETELY reasonable. Whoever said its not worth the money its ridiculous and get off your high horse. People pay more for a WoW expansion+sub (recurring sub mind you), FFXIV expansion+ sub (recurring sub mind you) and this GAME isn’t even sub. Everyones acting like complete children who can’t dish out $50 dollars for a expansion for a unsub game that is the BEST out there. These people make content for your enjoyment without being greedy for 3 years, now this. In 3 years you would have spent $540 dollars in WoW or FFXIV + w/e their expansions cost. Give me a break.

You realize for a non-subscription game making the necessary big play to bring in a fresh crop of gem store shoppers, a bunch of veterans who’ve bought everything leaving the game is more like cleaning house than a giant fiscal disaster, right?

Understand what you’re saying when you call yourself “loyal”. Either it means you play a lot but don’t buy a lot, in which case your “loyalty” means virtually nothing to the bottom line OR you spend a lot and are invested in the game and have sunk costs so high $50 probably seems like peanuts and they know good and well they’ve got their hooks into you and don’t especially need to play courtship games.

Sure, it could have been handled more gracefully at the outset. I’m sure they’ll throw the vets a bone at some point – beyond the fact the vets have 80th level characters and a 3 year head start on the new crowd. But this outrage is mostly a sign they’ve correctly gauged how much people want to stay a part of the game they’ve come to love.

OMG People… any MMO worth anything has kitten base expansion, if you don’t know this you have been living under a rock, in a cave… somewhere very remote.

The upgraded ones are simply shineys that YOU DON’T ACTUALLY NEED.

Hello, i’m an old Guild Wars player,i’ve been one of those who bought the collector edition of the second title(i love the game), i even bought a second copy to avoid arguing with my brother since we used to share the same acconut , but as soon as i started playing i have been dealing with some problems.
Guild Wars 2 lacks of italian subtitles… How is it possible that a game based on such a good structured PvE could fail so badly in something as easy as a translation?
Now, I don’t have anything against your idea of global hate ,i even tried to wait a year hoping that things could change, they didn’t.
So ashamed of my ignorance about having not been able to understeand anything in the quests, neither in the story in general(i even read the two books in Italian), i found myself leaving guild and friends hoping that one day i would have been back playing Guild Wars 2 (a lot of people who hosted petitions to get italian subtitles got huge amounts of signatures ,yet they didn’t even get considered.).
I gladly noticed that a new expansion is about to come out( Guild Halls °ç° ) , and now i am here looking the Charr statue from the collector edition asking myself:
Italy hasn’t got any rights to play Guild Wars 2?
Why did Guild Wars 1 support italian language while Guild Wars 2 doesn’t?
What’s the meaning of creating new contents while the old ones aren’t accessible to everyone?
Why at this point should i buy Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns?
One last question: Why did you even block indipendent translations??
Maybe i should just sell the Charr Statue and pretend I never had something to do with Guild Wars 2.

Italy has no right to play GW2? I know a lot of Italian players from previous online games, all enjoying english content. That whole translation business has been discussed in other threads, so let me just get to the basics here: You bought a product/service with certain properties that were made known to you. Italian language support was not one of them. You agreed on the purchase. Now you whine a certain property, which was known to you to be absent from the product, does not exist. You passive aggressively attack the business which did nothing but give you the service you bargained for? So what reaction do you expect here now? Sympathy? Certainly not from me.

You know, this could have been a more welcoming post for an actual discussion, but the OP deliberately named it in such a way that it will inevitably become a flame war about sexism and the objectification about women.

OP, it would have been better if you had titled your post asking for more character body shape customization options instead of “human female body”. You’re obviously provoking discussion on an extremely touchy subject that is also extremely subjective.

I’d like to remind people that this is a fantasy game, the ‘humans’ in this game are not humans from Earth, and as such are not bound to the same rules of biology as we are. Even if they were somehow the same, our characters burn thousands of calories each day fighting things and running around a lot. There is no way our characters would be on the thicker side. Smaller breasted, maybe, but to expect our characters to look like couch potatoes is unrealistic (since we’re talking about realistic proportions).

I get that many people like to model their characters after themselves, but some body types are just not possible in the context of the game world, because killing things and running around all day burns thousands of calories.

Some people want ‘realistic’ body proportions, but ‘realistic’ is highly subjective. What you may consider ‘realistic’, another person might consider anorexic or obese.

Aesthetics are everything in games like this. The vast majority of people find physically fit and model-bodied people aesthetically pleasing. ArenaNet is a business, businesses are for profit, and the target demographic likes aesthetically pleasing things, like men with chiseled abs and women with ‘hourglass’ figures. It’s purely for aesthetics and not for the objectification of the human body.

Sure, ArenaNet COULD add ‘obese’ or ‘fat’ or ‘no muscle definition at all’ as options for characters. The few people that would like it would be happy, but I don’t think ArenaNet would put a lot of time or resources into adding a feature that only a tiny fraction of the player base will actually use or enjoy.

Please OP, next time at least try to make your post’s title sound like an actual call for greater customization rather than a flame war bait. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt that all you really want are more customization options (which I am all for). Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before someone makes sexist references in some form or another, jokingly or otherwise, causing your thread to eventually be locked.

Uhm… errr… well, thin frame with small chest size is undesireable, meaning anorexia, hm? Whereas, small frame with large chest size could mean fotomodel or something?! Or just a wealthy thin lady who loves plastic.
The general trend seems to be that that particular part of the body should be big enough to obstruct seeing the ground you walk on ^x^

Seriously, though I am big supporter of the play how you want as long as you can hold your own. Which is why I never join group that demand certain builds. I usually bring a banner and FGJ and that is the extent of my party support. If they aren’t happy with that then they can kick me.

Stacking is not an exploit, it is a cheese. It is the use of an unskillful tactics to employ maximum damage through minimum effort and maximum chance for survival. It is like using that one combo attack in a fighting game that you know your opponent can’t defend against and doing nothing but it until they die. Also, using reflect to reflect is not unconventional. It is the literal definition of conventional. It is using a thing specifically in the way it was meant to be used.

I’ll concede the reflect aspect. However, Cheese cannot be considered an exploit.

I mean, the very first statement in the first line is me saying it’s not an exploit. That was the point.

The difference between Stacking and the rest of your cheesy list is that Stacking wasn’t intentional. It’s something the Devs probably never considered while designing the game, because they rarely do. They don’t consider the path of least resistance, they always think people will play their hardest and use all their available skills.

The only question is whether or not they care about the results enough to do anything about it. There are plenty of ideas right here to show that there are ways to interrupt it, if not remove it entirely. I’m pretty sure they won’t.

As I understand what you are saying, you played in areas you normally play. Got tons of loot and now want a Legendary Weapon Chest because a bug didn’t allow you to do a closed beta.

Sooner or later you might learn the very important skill of selective hearing or how to tune out things that you just find repetitive and obnoxious, then you’ll no longer have to worry about what the characters say because you just won’t hear it anymore…or better yet, just listen to your own soundtrack that drowns out everything in game.

Well, the Hylek sermons can’t make it more clear… they’re being sneaky. During the fire you do hear lines like “The eggs, are they hatching?” etc.

But it’s a bit much to ask for an event chain to tell you the beginning of the story no matter when you join.

What does happen is that when you are leading the big guy to get eggs he tells the entire story. He talks about exactly what the Hylek are doing in detail. So if you push through that single phase you get everything explained to you even if you weren’t there right at the start.

That being said, when you go to “defend the hunters” if you follow them from the start you walk past Hylek offering eggs. So you should be able to work it out from there.

The Flame Legion had religious overtones, too, so this isn’t exactly new.

Guess I’ll pass. I like outfits but stylistically this one is too close to the Crystal Nomad outfit. Plus it’s another friggin long coat and I’m sick to death of long coats.

No, you are wrong. The “legend” is not really his mother, since she did not care about her biological child at all. OTOH the “nobody” is his caring PARENT who did trade a career and glory for his child happiness, and that is SOMETHING. You really need to understand the norn culture first and foremost. A huge mistake you’re making is that you claim they should follow human cultural naming practices.

As for legends, again, you need to read up on who the norn are. How many Elder Dragons did his father right? How many did Eir fight? In this context, Braham’s father is more akin to a stay-at-home parent than a warrior.
