Another trick I learnt from GW1 was map pressure.
There are 3 conquest points.
So we have several skills…If some of them are on Cd the build falls flat on it’s face.
You apply pressure on the map through rotations. Decap a point asap if you see a fair fight on mid. Then wait to see if someone comes. They will have some skills on Cd after fighting on mid and when they come to you it’s an easy win.
It works with Cd’s and objectives. If you apply enough pressure on Foefire for example you can easily gank out the lord. Spirit watch you can run Orbs. The new maps you can get the sword and shield and the bonuses from the +25 +50 + 100.
Maybe if we had a few more game integrations to allow for map pressure. I was thinking maybe if you hold one point it allows your team mates to spawn on point. Something a bit more cutting edge as opposed to swords and shields.
This map pressure dictates my rotations. I am silver II just sometimes play really well when I click with someone on my team.
This map pressure would also be fun on Stronghold – for me it’s just a chaotic shambles ATM. I don’t know which strats you guys use.
I guess you could apply map pressure and then use the cannons. Apply pressure and get the mist guardian. This way it doesn’t matter if you lose a 1v1.
This is the tactic I use to overcome build wars rage.
I admit there are some more technically gifted players around. But I don’t play too often so it’s just my tactic for lower tier players like me to improve.
Fix autoattack.
What if we had a flavor of the month, if they buffed power one month and the bext month they buffed healing power. And one month you rally when you die for the first time you die. Could be fun to experiment with builds and have fun learning

Looking at the CC chains on hammer too, it’s stun, knockdown, and knock back which is a hassle

Also what really made me want to play is my passion to get a tiger emote!!
It was so competitive, you needed to chain consecutive wins so you could get more fame.
The tiger would come after many hours of play.
ATM I played 300 hrs and I got a Dragon. Don’t feel that reward.
Just something very small and minor which plays a significant role in my mind and wants me to play more.
5v5 a gm when it’s 1v1 1v1 1v1 1v1 1v1 and then it’s 4v1 3v2 2v3 at the end. And then you progress to the next round where you get better rewards and prestige
with this game mode you could make it so that when it’s 2v3 at the end, the players get a bonus for their deficit in players!!
so you could give each player on team with 2 a 50% boost in stats, and it could be fair!!!
the players who win only get ratings!!!
Maybe make the aforementioned one 6v6 so you can have a 3v3 showdown.
Another idea I had is a daily Guild War. You login at 7pm. You wage war vs another Guild. There is a 1v1 50 vs 50 people. Then there is a massive Guild War. 23 vs 27 for example – only the winners take part. There are PvE objectives and other mechanics. You could include a flag. For every 30 seconds you hold a flag. One of your team mates makes a comeback! And you can’t change builds.
this is how you chain cc, by rupting them with the animation when they stand up. Hey I just want hamwar to be fun..
What it looks like to me is that the animations are inconsistent when you cc them could you fix that and add an animation for when you put something on cool down. A stunbreak aura could be nice too. Ok… you wasted a stunbreak..let me CC you.

Also the hammer elite casts too slow to chain it consistently and it’s not that powerful. Frenzy etc are not viable
After 8k hrs in Gw1 chaining this almost every time like riding a bike I don’t think it’s too hard to balance it in.
Just ranger counters to warriors makes it buildwars. Your build is long ranged I am melee, gg.
That’s how the game feels.
If you made it a bit CCy and got rid of the element that only a top team can focus out a shout bow. Because there is no co-ordination on point it’s every man for himself. If you look at CS GO. There is cover fire – tactics at the start, a bit of teamwork. I have the AWP I should scope through the doors.
Dota 2 there is Roshan, high risk reward! There is a last-hit mechanic which makes it fun.
Just condis and burst here.
5v5 we could make two bosses one for each team with lots of HP and we have to kill the other one first.
5v5 you could make a gm when you get random skills and equipment. You can test balance this way and it will lead to co-ordination. Cheap to produce, could be fun.

There was also the social-side of being a Warrior, you could get into organised teams, using Ventrilo, and call 3-2-1 spikes on targets and it would be game over. That was fun hanging out on Vent and talking to each other, getting to know people. And know it’s just a headache capping points. I really don’t care if you can 1v1 me in the Arena…It’s a 5v5 game based on objectives, why is the 1v1 element so high, when you gain points from holding objectives. I’m saying make all the builds to hold objectives, we had bunkers etc, which I approved of but I bought the game 1 year in and I wasn’t so great so I learnt. Now we have this 1v1 meta. Why do even the Warrior spell THROW BOLAS exist? It could be useful if you made a relic run game. Or I don’t know it’s all useless except Endure Pain – NERFED, Berserker Stance……/ends, condi overload……..
Could you please make it based on skill, fix warrior… and make it based on holding objectives or getting the objectives done!! Colosseum, and the Capricorn are alright but it’s conquest yet again. So over it……So so over it……..We could make a map where you hold a center point and there are other objectives to do 5v5v5!! Bring in a game master who could organize this for you… It’s so boring and tedious. You bring your 1v1 Ele’s and Rangers and Guardians 1v1 specialists, and then it’s just like quack what about the points?
Another tip from Gw1, was it was all Melee-based attack force leading the PvP squad. A warrior would log-in build a team of 8/8, get them on ventrilo and go from there. Now it’s 5v5 you’ve lost this element and I think that’s why it’s not so great anymore. You were a warrior, you felt like a warrior leading 7 other Men and Women, You were a ranger, you’d go on solo skirmishes, and this is what we’ve lost. You were a flagger, you run the flag back and forth, etc, etc it was your duty…it was Guild Wars.

Another thing I found fun being a warrior on GW1, were CC chains!
You could KD someone, then wait a little bit..and then KD them again and interrupt their MONK spell with 1/4s cast time. Those were the mechanics in the first game, which I really miss.
I saw it a bit on ZerkWar when you can Daze them, and then use your Primal Burst to daze them again and you have a long chain. But the bow missed this AoE element because it was in a long line. If the bow was AoE I’d be grade AAA happy because in a long line it does very little when you’re competing for a conquest point.
Warrior was the leader in GW1, whereas in GW2 it has little to no survival currently.
I don’t see survival like this….
It’s just dodge roll, dodge roll, no one has the skill level to rotate or apply AoE, or to do anything, it’s just chaos……
We also had a district, which was structured where we could look for a team, and we’d log-in daily and do things and do things as a GUILD. We had priests who would ress the team, we had Ghostly Heroes who if you killed them you would get your res signet back and lose DP. Perhaps a game mode such as this. If you killed the GH you ress your team mates.
It was called the Hall of Heroes, and I was a big fan of that. If you bring it back it could be fun. I’ve had enough of capping points, there was a map in HA where you would cap points, run relics, etc, make something like this please.

AOE
A very important trick in GW1 was Area of Effect spells. If I can CC someone on my hambow, and then you can put an AoE well there or something such as this. It’s game over for the battle on point. If you read on further you will see the benefits of this.
Positioning
A tip I can give you guys is to always be on the influencing end of kiting, if you can influence the way your opponent is kiting, then it gives rise to people being next to each other. And AoE can have it’s toll!
CC + AoE chains.
Apply this to conquest!
When you can command one point! You can rotate and hold other points.
DO NOT FORGET that conquest is always 3 points and then we can beat their butts up!!
A class such as Necro – survival and wells!
Ele – AoE + survival and healing!
Warrior – Burst+AoE, on GS or bow, or with hammer!
Guardian – too op! Blocks + burning + traps = dead!
Engi – nades on a point!
Thief – 1v1 specialist dueler to hold side points or decap and cap! Do not go into big fights!! You are too squishy for that!! The temperament is insane I know! But try your best.
Maybe you can teach me what GW2 tricks you know!! Please don’t be scared to share!! Just my feeling in Queues is that no one knows how to play!!!

How would a pot work?
To be honest if you looked at the maths that went into balancing the classes you would be bewildered as to how professional the team is.
I’d say some classes are just easier to use than others.
Is rampage really OP? According to the maths probably not, but using skills 12345 for 20 seconds just to kill is very easily done. (Don’t nerf me ANET)
What I meant was that if more people cared and were willing to crowd fund some money for the tournaments it could be way more than 5k$.

My proposal:
A chart like in the stock market that you can check to see your win/loss ratio and you are able to zoom in from 1 day, 7 days, 1 month, 1 year, all time.
And a counter to show your win/loss for 24 hrs.
I often find myself trying to remember my win loss in my head but I’m never sure ‘cos I forget how many games I’ve played during the day because I often play a few sittings a day.
I often find myself using a calculator as well to work out my all time win/loss ratio to see if I am improving!!
Any similar experiences, would you like to see this implemented?

Ranger just had different mechanics, which are unique in this game and need a bit of skill to counter them. A good ranger is a very powerful things. Have you seen trap ranger??
Good job on the Balance Arena Net, I really enjoy the play style and I feel better players in general beat me, as opposed to just some build wars from Turret Engineer and other stuff that used to be around like hard counters, mesmer vs thief (mass qq)
Bunkers are still a bit tricky forcing me to run Berserkers Amulet
I think mesmers are in a good spot, takes some skill to take them down and some instant dodge rolls after they reveal from stealth.
Still toying around with builds and its taking a while to over come every build, just takes time to learn which skills to dodge and some new pressure some classes bring.
As for my own class – GS/Hammer with Rampage(Krait runes and Berserker Amulet) I think Rampage is very balanced. If you don’t go in all guns blazing and try to outskill me instead of playing your broken class like Ranger, Thief Stealth, Mesmer Stealth, it gives me a lot of time to kite and wait for it to be up again and then give you a good fight (there are a lot of counters to this skill)
Frenzy is in a good spot, good for stomps, good for attunes, good for clutch rezzes, good for that extra burst when you get your opponent low.
TLDR; Great job Arena Net, you play the game to a high level (Grouch is better than I am at this game ( I only been playing just over a year)) and you know what makes the game fun and this new fast paced, high twitch is what we will all grow to love.
Would be interesting to see what knowledge you gain from your data and how you balance the next update.
Any info on when the new leaderboards would be out??

On trebuchet it just flies off at a random angle, same with nades on Engi I think
On the gate it doesn’t cast at all and you have to position the field awkwardly at your feet
