they cant tank anymore, neither kill a target when you are down. You have to keep pressing them summon them.

I think they were better before. My concern before was the duration was too low.

Hammer, Long Bow and spirit weapons.

Long bow, not only gives you range but it allows you to pull mobs.

The hammer allows to you to stun, knockback and the protection circle.

The spirit weapons do some damage plus the knockback from the spirit hammer. They can do some minor tanking too.

I play solo a lot in pve. I use the long bow with spirit weapons. The sprite wea pons can tank in many scenarios while you dps with the bow.

Gratz on new expansion.

Adding new maps, mobs, skills, mounts, etc is a good way to make the game interesting for some of us.

I will buy the expansion because of what is mentioned above plus the player influx you get with it. IMO Gw2 is meant to be played with lots of players.

However, I still have a small complaint. It seems the spitit weapons are not fixed/modified/improved. I joines this game to play guardian with spirit weapons and I was hoping some improvements on those.

I put a different gem. Now the sword has a moonstone and a ebony orb.

I go to hero equipment.

I see the sword and the moonstone orb.

I double click on the moonstone orb but the sword turns “red” and it does not let me.

Why is it that AI is forced to target enemies (players) with the highest armor? .

Not sure how you figured this out. I never understood the agro mechanics on this game.

I have had many cases in which spirits weapon like the bow or the shield (from guardian) can keep agro on a mob even thought these weapons don’t do damage. Don’t get me wrong, I like my spirit weapons to keep agro but I don’t understand how it works.

In most games you have agro skills to keep agro, or the one doing most damage gets agro, if the dps is not too high and tank agro skills are low, the mob attacks the healer.

I know the game is not supposed to have Trinity per say.

The other thing is that is hard to read who has agro on the boss, on when the boss is casting an AOE. In most games, the boss is doing some fancy movements (or lighting , something very visual) that tells you an AOE is coming in couple secs.

The other problem I have noticed on this game is like you don’t have ways in which vets teach the noobs naturally in the game.

A Game I used to play was Perfect World. Every ten levels, you had to do a special dungeon in which pretty much you need higher level players with you. That way you learn boss mechanics, your role, your skills, etc. The higher level players would help you for the exp points. Again it’s a way to meet other players.

I don’t agree with forcing people to squad but finding ways to motivate players to learn to play the game and socialize with others are good.

Most boss fights on this game is everybody ganking on the boss and fight mechanics (if any) are hard to pickup.

I hope it does not sound harsh but for what you guys like to do and the way you guys want to do it snd on the time you guys want.

You already finished the game.

I’m close to that stage too. As soon as I get enough gold to buy some cosmetic items for my toon.

I’ll be most likely out as well. This is just after couple weeks on HOT.

Notice, I beat the original game for what I wanted to do in couple months of play and returning every now and then

However, I do agree with you. They have changed the game into a different direction. I was complaining initially but I like the new gameplay and direction.

What is the fastest way (time wise) to go from Maguma breach wp to treacherous path wp without gliding, or teleporting, neither going into the canopy and how long do you think it would take?

In Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls/Bloodborn you lose most of your progress if you die (unless you found the shortcut), and you lose all your souls – the only currency. If you would do that in GW2 the whining would be even greater.

In this particular case I’m not whining. I like gw2 for not dead penalties.

I’m referring to the feeling that you don’t when your next dead is gonna be or if there is a mob behind that wall, etc.

On the first map (verdant), there is one ruin building in which there is a quest to protect two archeologists. For some reason you need to find these idiots (lol in a funny way) is a quest itself as they are separate all the time lol. this place that looks like a labyrinth and hidden mobs.

I personally want an specialization improving spirit weapons for the guardian.

When I came to this game, the spirit weapons were one of my main motivations. However, they seem like a gymick more than anything.

Regarding few people in the new map, I see almost as many people as when the game came out for the first time. However, they are constantly moving me from server to server…..

I had complaints couple times in several treads about the expansion.

After playing for over a week. I personally now like it. I improve my game play and now I enjoy it.

However, I still complain about the cost……this is not worth it compared to what we paid for the original game.

We are getting way way less. For me to be happy, the price should have been half for people upgrading and the current price for people buying for the first time. That would have been OK and it would have solved most complaints.

Or the actual new map being twice the current size for the same price.

Notice, if I compare the game to the competition. The current value is actually very good. No subcribsion fees and quality game play.

I think when you look at this expansion. While the value is not good (compared to price of original game). You can see, it actually cost a lot for them to make. It’s a very complex and elaborated map.

It’s an evolution of the dry top map.

Look, I was very critical of the price and in a way. I’m still a critic/complainer.

When we bought the game 3 years ago. We got a lot for our buck. However, while I was waiting for this game for long time. I only played couple months hardcore. Then, I retuned once in a while. Cause I only play one toon.

I did not get the same value for the expansion.

Is the game worth supporting? I think so.

It’s the expansion entertaining? I agree as well

Can I see the expansion took a lot of investing and effort from Anet? Yes, I can see all the work in it.

I guess most of us critics compared the original invest ment with what we are getting now.

For new players. This is an awesome deal but for people that don’t play that often its not.

Something that puzzles me, its two things:

1) the weapon grabs agro from mobs.

2) it also does some minor damage.

Still I don’t understand how these two things happen since the bow is not supposed to do damage.

I set the bow in auto attack. Then, when I grab agro from a mob due to getting to close.. The bow goes towards it, damage it (not sure how) and stays facing the mob. The mob attacks the bow.

I suspect it’s some burning for touching?

Try it with low level mobs.

I think they should fix zealot. It should be an AOE.

So it seems I can have 3 core specializations plus an elite. Do they all stack up?

Does having a core specialization selected as elite makes any difference?

The reason for above questions. It’s that I like the zeal on my guardian since I use lots of spirits weapons. I wonder if the effects get stronger if I select this core line as elite? I have tried but I don’t see a difference.

Will they add more specializations on this expansion? Or specializations will come in future expansions?

As I’m mentioning in another tread. The mobs are not even interesting or great AI.

As mentioned in another tread. I just feel missing soem basic skills that I see in other games like: stun, cancel mob casting, reset agro, agroing a single mob in a pack, lowering enemy defences, etc.

I’m not saying. I need all those skills in one built but we should be able to pick 2.

I’m playing this game since day one, with couple breaks. I did not complain about this before cause the game was easy but now that lack of these skills are very evident if you want to play solo.

Please more PVE skills to deal with HOT?

Looks like you want more control and CC, luckily as a guardian you have access to a lot.

Staff has a wall which knocks and interupts any mobs hitting it (you can summon the wall on top of mobs to rupt them).

GS has AoE pull.

Hammer puts down a circle which again knocks mobs on contact.

Shield gives an AoE knockback.

Guardian also has plentiful access to AoE blinds (from F1 to weapon skills).

Getting the Elite Spec Dragon Hunter will give you access to traps and a long ranged option too.

You have the tools to do what you’re asking for already.

The wall last very little and does not work with all mobs. Flying mobs still pass, big mobs like the look alike dragons that tacke you, those pass the wall too. I would be fine if the wall reset agro upon and/or stun mobs upon contact. That way, it would give you enough time to move far enough and fight one or two mobs at the time.

The hammer circle same as above but again, you just gain couple secs and you ended up surrounded. The hammer is actually a 1vs1 kind of weapon.

The traps seems handy thought. I will play with those but seems time consuming.

Again, I don’t want to modify the current skills. It would be better to have an extra bar just for PVE to pull, stun, pull agro, etc. If you don’t want to use that bar. It’s all good.

thing i like to do with guardian before i got elites was movement along with rotating the shouts i carried kept me alive but now with a few elites i jump in and trap and watch them drop quick. i love the bow using ranged attacks but when i want to ouput a bit more damage i move to another weapon set. most hot enemies give you a warning when they are going to hit you hard just moving right when you see that warning saves on all classes. hot changed my style of playing instead of standing there(regular gw2) i move often. movement and aoe timings on raptors or annoying monsters means survival. i think since i learned to play better and i still solo stuff including veterans minus a few of them which are hero points. did a duo with an ele the other day and we both knew our stuff we downed everything in our path within a second or two. the ele say how i was playing and used my stuff to their advantage and i used the eles stuff to my advantage

There’s plenty of strategy on the map, you’re just not employing that strategy. However, in battle you’re not necessarily supposed to be fighting 1v1 either. If you could pull every single enemy without agrroing any other enemy, then HoT would be pointless. I can’t imaging going through the zone one enemy at a time.

Plenty of guardians do perfectly well in HoT so the question becomes what are they doing that you’re not?

Could you please elaborate on your strategies?

All I see is hanging on bosses and mobs close to rally points. In any other places people are either glidind and bouncing on mushrooms.

How do you take several mobs at once?

Seriously, I feel my toon is weakly skilled for HOT and the mobs are even not that hard.

For starters, I have played games with smarter mobs with better AI.

However, these mobs are not that smart, they are just strong, high density and they gang.

Why cant you give us skills to :

pull (single attack a mob without agroing others) from distance. No the current pull that the guardian has right now.

Stun all mobs in a particular radius for couple seconds that reset their attack cicle? Let’s say a particular makes a special attack every 5 secs. I want to be able to reset it.

Agro. I want an skill that pulls agro from a player to me.

I repeat , these skills could be attached to the useless miniatures we have right now. Again just for PVE.

I hate the lack of strategy when dealing with these mobs on HOT.

Just making mobs hit harder does not make a game more interesting.

Again if some of you want to say, its all fine. You don’t have to use new skills. I’m not asking for nerfing. I’m asking “add some strategy” on world PVE.

Directly from ArenaNet, it’ll likely never happen. They may drop the price by $10-20, but once season 3 is over, they could easily bundle it and raise the price back to $50.

From other retailers however, HoT was on sale for around $22 on Amazon (FR) a little over a week ago. Other retailers commonly have it on sale for around 20-30%.

$50 for two expansions should be OK for me.

I will add it on my wish list on amazon in case it comes on sale again as you mentioned.

While $25 or $50 is not big deal to me. I don’t think this is worth $50. I think is a good deal for a new player biut not for me.

I don’t give money away to game makers anymore. They have to earn it.

I just returned after being away for over a year. I noticed there is an expansion….I watched couple youtube videos….

I have couple questions (this is not a rant)

1) why this expansion is as expensive as the original game even though the original game has way more content?
2) would this be routinely? Like when a new expansion is released, will I get the basic game and previous expansions?

3) will future expansions make previos expansions less useful? For instance, in other games, players sometimes ignore earlier expansions and just get the latest ones since the latest make the other ones obsolete gear wise?.

I like the game but with that value I can buy way better full games (rather than rebuying plus an expansion).

IMO the expansion should cost about $25……I would better buy a new different new game rather than this expansion.

Was the expansion being sold alone before and I just missed it?
