God Slayer Longbow animation bugs ?

I have seen this on both my ranger and guardian now when using the new bow skins. When the guardian uses his hunters ward skill and the ranger uses barrage the arrows fly backwards when animation kicks in but land at the target location. This makes it look like I’m not even aiming at what I’m intending on hitting. For those of us who use sight as a means of targeting this is pretty bad. Really cool looking bow skin as well but it came with a bug. This seems to be happening on various races and characters now with a similar animation on a bow shot. Just wondering if this intends on getting fixed and if others are also seeing it. Shouldn’t happen to a gem store item.

Just to update – Like Inculpatus Cedo said I did the content right after this new patch and I was able to complete the content. Sometime a hard re-set seems to it right after a large patch. I’m still unsure exactly what caused the bug and even the GM’s and support seem a bit baffled and have trouble getting this bug to repeat and have no idea exactly what causes it or how to fix it. So some suggestions for anyone suffering from this particular bug.

1.) Try the content after a large patch or update as it may re-set it for you ( it did mine )

2.) Since you are in Calendon Forest try going there to redo that content during the Great Jungle Worm boss. It was suggested by support to try to guest to another server and get on a different map. P vs E is pretty much a mega server now so that may be difficult or even impossible at times. With players doing boss runs at the time of the great jungle worm it will improve your chance of actually getting on a different map since multiple maps will spawn more likely during this time. You can always party up with another player and try to each get on a different map. At least this way you have two options of trying the map you are on and the one the other player is on.

Note – Did try this last night but wasn’t able to get the other map trick to fix the bug for me but I did only try it once. Would be interested to see if it actually works or if this bug is simply an account wide issue and not a map issue.

Hope the tips help and anyone suffering from this bug I suggest that you try the heart again once you down load this latest game update.

Yep….. I’ve done both actually. Just trying to give them any information which might be helpful to fixing it. I didn’t see it on the Known Issues so I also submitted an actual ticket. If anyone else can report it as well that has problems it might give them more information to work with.

Wow….. if that is the case there would be absolutely no reason for me to even continue playing this character. Would be nice if there was some feedback as to why this happens or at least a " we’re looking into this ". I did try to enter with characters who have completed this before and I am getting the same issue with them as well. They try to enter the area and get dumped back outside the den. This is something which needs addressed, without 100% map completion there is no way to make certain legendary weapons as you’ll need that gift of exploration.

I have tried last night and today to complete this heart but have been unable to get the NPC to disguise me and send me into the area after talking with him. What seems to happen after the cut scene is that I’m simply dumped just outside of the area and not inside where I can complete the heart. I have tried the following things to remedy the situation but to no avail.

1.) Re-logging out of and back into the game.
2.) I even tried partying up with another player and using a Mesmer port after being dumped outside but neither worked.
3.) Have tried leaving Calendon Forest and returning and that has not helped.

I’m playing an Asura Guardian and have never ran into this particular bug before. It’s going to stop me from getting 100% on world completion and I have no clue how to fix it or how long said bug would even take Anet to fix or run down. ( It has been reported through the game though and now here ).

If anyone has had any similar issue and can let me know what they did go around this to complete the heart I would appreciate it. I believe I have talked with him around 10 times or so by now and each time results in me being simply placed just outside of the area with the Nightmare Court.

Really another 3 level map

Why are they cramming the multi-tier maps down our throats ? I hate jumping puzzles and if the HOT style type maps are what we have in our future I will also eventually loose interest and I’m finding it hard to stick with the game if this continues. Anet you’re pulling away from what originally drove Guild Wars to be a popular game and I’m continually seeing you drift further and further away from that. You can make a map that’s fun to explore and still provide good content but the constant multi tier maps and maps which require a constant presence of players on the map to complete its content is going to end the game period. The bigger you make the game the more spread out your gamers get in that game and soon something that isn’t any newer then two weeks ago is a dead map and it won’t matter if people are going to have trouble navigating and doing combat on said map with a small group. If you want those larger maps that require this type of content it can’t be the engine you’re going to drive players to new content. You’re losing fans and players alike doing this. When I can’t play with a small group of friends and enjoy the game, you’re killing me and I won’t continue to support it much longer.

In my opinion they are pulling more and more away from what kept me a loyal fan in Guild Wars I to what they are currently doing with the LS in Guild Wars 2. At least they are going back and mentioning our own characters and I’m seeing some funny tid bits and banter being thrown in now much always gets a small laugh when I play. I would like to see something about our races though as a few players have mentioned. I would honestly like to see more " personal story " involved in the L.S content where our Charr get our War Bands back together or deal with politics in the Black Citadel, the Norn go on a personal spiritual hunt, The Sylvari tend to the wounds of the Pale Tree or even search out other trees and the soundless. Maybe she can be dying and another will need to take her place. The Asura can find all sorts of things to do and discover with Rata Novus in play and the humans have no lack of things to do with a war between them and the centaurs as well as their own political messes. Would it be that hard to design content that included things such as this in the LS ?

Wouldn’t that give players a chance to experience the character they made much better then being forced down a single path which doesn’t really take into consideration any decisions they made while creating the race and character they enjoyed ? Combine the two in a way where " personal story and Living story " meet to push the game forward and encourage players to team up since a Charr will experience something different then an Asura and so on. You see other stories based on things you have already decided and the living story influences but it needs to remain yours and not something everybody and their brother sees. If that is going to continue to be the case then why decide on a particular race at all.

The LS has improved but this latest twist of a GOD and letting the Dragons live is indeed pretty lazy and I’m going to call them out on this. You mean you can’t really think of another baddie to throw in the game and decide to just drop in a " GOD " since that says our characters are now the biggest and most powerful thing in Tyria ? Really ? With all the lore in the game you can’t find something which doesn’t have to be a monster or all powerful being ? The Pale Tree suffering from her wounds needs a rare herb found only in remote areas ending in a guardian that needs heroes like ours to beat it. The norn quest to help aid one of their spirits returning to the world. All sorts of things we can do aside from beating on a god. I mean how do you one up a god ? Might make things more interesting to see who or what throws a wrench into the workings of our world as we go out and try to fix them. Instead of we just killed a god so nothing we can’t do, who cares what comes next.

GreyFeathers.8175

I have decided to undertake the making of Uzolan’s Orchestra for our guild hall and I’m currently working on the collection to get the recipe itself. The question I have is there are two pcs to the collection that seem like they’re " NEVER " going to drop.

1.) The adventurous melody from adventure chests

2.) The other is the palm wooden mallet which drops from rare chests in the Heart of Maguuma.

Has anyone else undertaken this task to scribe one of these things and if so how long / many chests and adventures did it take for any of the two items to drop. I’m wondering if it’s some super rare drop or if the RNG is just screwing with me right now. After 3 days you would think that one of these things would drop.

The idea of a counter for currently placed items is that something which would even work ? It would be a help when planning what to decorate and what not to decorate so guilds could leave some things bare perhaps and leave them open for holiday and special decorations when the time comes around.

I think this topic should be kept toward the top for discussion. My reasoning there is not that many guilds that have even realized the decoration cap yet. It is an expensive and tedious process for many smaller guilds and even medium sized ones to even reach that point. Myself I feel it is a very small cap when you have so many things and options that you can pick from.

I would like to see the current cap raised if possible and maybe even a counter in the decoration panel which would show how close the guild is to reaching it’s cap. If the current cap is not going to be raised then at least a guild which is spending gold on decorating would be able to see how close it is to reaching a cap before it spends hours on decorating. Until looking into the decorating process itself, I have guild members that have made and sold legendary weapons to help with decorating. A very cool and nice touch to personalize a guild hall but I doubt anyone would have done such a thing if they realized that only a fraction of a guild hall would be able to be decorated. It’s definitely a gold sink and something I’m sure was intended as such but as it stands a lot of guild halls will probably go without being decorated because of the time also involved. It is probably the most timely and costly thing a gamer can do at the moment.

I would like to see a counter which shows the number of decorations currently spent without having to add up each one individually. A percentage bar showing how close the guild hall is toward saturation would also be nice since placement on items will also factor in. As it stands now, you only know when you reach this cap after you’re unable to place anything at all in your guild hall. You are then left to decide which things you want to delete so you can decorate other areas after spending hours getting areas where you like them in the first place. This will only anger many players and you have not IMO seen very many guild halls reach this point yet.

My point of view – As much as I’ve loved this game, Guild Wars I and Arena.net ,I can’t shake the feeling that perhaps you are trying to please too many people at once and in so doing are losing the core supporters and fan base that put you where you are in the first place.

Raids – You actually have a large player base even participating in these ? What was it some Dev said once that difficult content is usually something the top 10% or so of gamers are even going to play ? Never been a fan of must play build " A " in-order to participate in said content.

Fractals – Even with the rewards being lucrative I have never found this part of the game fun or something I like doing. Simply making something a " have to do " if I want a legendary weapon isn’t going to make me want to do this any more. In fact there is nothing really that inspires me to play this part of the game.

Dungeons – Same with raids and fractals, this is content which no matter how it is played is entirely dictated by its game mechanics. No matter how one wishes to play you will suffer if your build isn’t in-line with the dungeon mechanics and forget trying to join a group if you can’t show you know what the flavor of the month builds are.

These are just some of the things I think about and parts of the games that irritate me the most. What I live for and something you got right was a living world. I’m a P vs E player and I can jump in the world live a story as I want and get new content to move that world forward so I’m always living a story. This was your core group of fans that made Guild Wars I, we had tough / elite content for those who wanted it but the game wasn’t spread into a zillion directions like it is now.

1.) If new players come to a game that has dead starting areas or they can not finish game content because it requires a group of players and they can not find those groups of players, why should they stay ? New rewards for experienced players to go back to these zones are only going to fix things for a short period of time. Once those rewards are gotten, new players will once again be on their own. Your games survival seems to be built around new rewards every time and not bringing players together. Your game mechanics and content also preclude smaller guilds and just a small gathering of friends to be unable to even try certain content and not every player likes to be in a guild with hundreds of players. I have a small group of friends I’ve gamed with since Guild Wars I and I wouldn’t trade them for another hundred players just to do game content. While I’m ranting here I hope certain points are being brought up that’s been a problem since day one.

2.) I have no idea how servers work and perhaps that’s something which needs to be looked into. P vs E was changed to a mega server and perhaps W vs W will be in the end as well. There is no reward for being loyal to a home server and aside from W vs W that’s the only reason to really stick with one. Isn’t there a way to include districts like we had in Guild Wars I so we had a choice of which mega server to be on ? Hell the current way servers are set up makes it even hard for players to organize community events. I use to look forward to those events and they are quite frankly a thing of the past. Although I do have an option of using LFG and hope, HOPE, that I get on the same map as most of my friends before the map gets filled up and I’m stuck playing with strangers.

Now before some moron wants to state that an MMO is all about hundreds and hundreds of players on-line and gaming with other players, I would like to say " really I had no idea ". I enjoy gaming with and helping people I meet in the game but I also want to game with and build things with my friends. Almost all new content can not be done without a group and if 2 or 3 players can not tackle things to build a guild hall, team build each other up, then they will leave one at a time slowly but surely where they will be able to do those things. Some of your player base is being lost not because they don’t enjoy the game but because you preclude them from doing it with their friends. Sure raids and said content should be there for the " elite " if you will but this games life is going to rest on the ability for players to complete all content from beginning to end. That’s simply not true with the state of the game today.

Okay this has happened several times now with these missions and I can’t find any information on the matter. Grabbing three guild members and either defeating the enemy lord or earning " x " amount of personal combined score have not worked for us since release. The guild missions have all been started before we have ever entered a match and not once have we been able to earn a reward ?

Everything was completed per the mission description so what are we missing ? Is this bugged or is there something else that needs to be done ? I have several guild mates getting disgusted and not even wanting to try this anymore. If anyone can point me in the right direction or shed some light on this for me it would be appreciated.

I’m still trying to see where I would want to use the new virtues over the old ones. None of the trait line skills for specialization seem to fit with the two we have left over. Honestly feeling that being a Dragon hunter weakens the guardian. I like the use of a bow for a ranged weapon but it’s not worth the trade off.

I will try and give some more feed back but I can’t see me using the specialization. Perhaps if I could use the virtues without having to use that trait line, the skills and buffs the traits give just don’t make sense or work well together.

Dragon Hunter Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

GreyFeathers.8175

Was really looking forward to trying the guardian with the longbow and I wasn’t very impressed with it’s skills or of the Dragon Hunter specialization. The longbow skills themselves are weak on damage and a scepter makes a better weapon. I also felt that if you picked the dragon hunter specialization and used the longbow there wasn’t much synergy between it’s skills and any other of the old specializations.

Also as the virtues changed with the dragon hunter specialization I felt they themselves were dumbed downed and weakened compared to the old standard virtues. Why would I spend time to specialize in a trait line that offers me less damage ?

Old Virtue of Justice – 457 / 1143 ( passive / active damage )
New Virtue – 329 / 686 ( passive / active damage )

Note – This was with beta gear but it shows the difference here in damage potential

Bow Skills – They were slow and a guardian can trait spirit weapons to do more damage while using another ranged weapon getting more DPS / Crowd control and condition effects.

Feedback on HoT Stress Test [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: GreyFeathers.8175

GreyFeathers.8175

I was able to play the initial test today but not the one later in the evening. Here are my comments.

Story – Awesome like where this was headed and it was something that made me at least what to know more.

Gliding – Absolutely hated this. I realize this is a beta but it seems like parts of this map will be like dry top with semi-jumping areas and this is something I absolutely hate in this game. It’s also why I avoid certain content and areas. I’ll never be a big fan of areas like this if I’m required to hop, skip and jump all over the place. Exploring and figuring out stuff is fun, jumping never will be.

Rev – I doubt I’ll play this new class. It doesn’t fit into how I like to play. It seems to much like a caster / warrior / ritualist and from what I’ve seen it seems to make other classes look small compared to damage and support. I could see groups of Revs replacing hammer trains in W vs W. It’s just not a class I’ll be interested in playing. I would have liked to have been able to play with the new weapons allowed to our previous classes.

Game Area – It did seem busy and confusing at times but its pretty much like any large combat area so far. It will take a few times in there to understand what’s going on and where one needs to go. Maybe changing the color of things we need to interact with or something might help. The look of the area was fantastic I loved it. I have no idea who does the art there at Anet but you all need to keep them employed there ! One of the big attractions to this game is the non-cartoon like aspect of it. The detail in the graphics has always been awesome.

Combat – I never did figure out how the new bars under the bosses and creatures worked. I do not understand it and just attacked as usual and assume many others did the same.

The site which has been set up for the SOR community is top notch and administered by some great people. I have had the fortune of being one who has stood back and watched the leaders of various guilds within the community still put up a good fight in W vs W and participated in many battles where we should have definitely have lost. The server is indeed home to some very talented W vs W commanders although as some of the above posts have mentioned SOR’s main problem hasn’t been talent or knowledge its been coverage ( Meaning at certain times there simply isn’t anyone there to man the battlements on the keep ). I have seen our borderland run over by the enemy only to have it change back to our hands as we invade yet other areas and destroy those in front of us. Sure there have been times that numbers were against us but even when we failed the enemies victory was at a very high cost. This is a server that has a lot of hidden potential and a place where you can learn or move to and become another brick in an already great foundation of good people.

I would also like to mention that SOR simply isn’t all W vs W and there are many guilds on the server who participate in the greater GW 2 community. Several of my own guild mates in the NICE guild work with GW-EN and Gamer’s Giving Back as staff members. These two organizations bring the servers the Community event " Pink Day in LA ". It’s not just a run of the mill server, there is a family here and I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of it. Two years into it and I’m still learning more about the other guilds and folks on my own server. There’s been enough offered here, I have absolutely no reason to go any place else.

Halloween has a long history in Tyria, and in times past was always marked by the spirit of Mad King Thorn cavorting among the people unleashing his own brand of insanity and awful jokes. Two years ago he re-appeared after two centuries of not being seen and was kept from breaking into Tyria by Magister Tassi and a brave group of heroes. He continues to re-appear every year as before but the threat of him breaking into Tyria seems to be have been foiled. This year a delegation from the Iron Legion and a few of the nobles along with the support of Queen Jennah have pre-pared a Halloween party in the Plains of Ashford outside the Black Citadel. It appears that even though there are still problems with the cease fire between the charr and humans both Queen Jennah and Smodur the Unflinching are still dedicated to making their treaty work. Perhaps both sides realize that by introducing the customs and holidays of each other’s race bridges can be built to repair hundreds of years of war and distrust.

Join us on October 28th from 7 – 10 p.m. EST for our first ever Charrloween Party. The Perfectionist Cult along with Dj’s from GW-EN radio will be throwing an in-game Halloween party. Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

in CDI

Posted by: GreyFeathers.8175

GreyFeathers.8175

The Living Story is a great idea but I don’t think it was implemented properly and really in touch with the story and world we all started out with. As already stated the two week schedule is absolutely insane and pretty much anything in the fall or later in the year I’ll never get to see, let alone get to do since I’m usually gone several weeks at a time.

Why isn’t there a way for the Living Story to progress ? By this I mean say Scarlet part I comes out the first week of September and Scarlet part II two weeks after that; why can’t a player who hasn’t be on-line in a month start off at part I ? Can’t there be an NPC or way in which the content is still available ? This way players can actually be a part of the story and feel as if they are doing something rather then missing something. I only use the example of Scarlet since she seems to be our newest villian but there is so much in the world that seems to have been forgotten. The Dragons, the Pact, Craigstead, and what about the choices we made as characters ? What happened to my Charr’s war band ? His status as a legionarrie or for a norn, now that they’ve become a legend what NPC’s and people will seek their help ? The talent exsists within Anet as far as writers and the creativity to answer a lot of those questions and to make it so our character is more involved in the Living Story and not a foot note in it.

I guess in a nutshell I’d like to see more things in the living story relate to my personal story and something I could do at my own pace and not a break neck schedule as is currently being done. You almost have to choose, should I work on my character ? or farm to keep up with acheivement pts to get the lastest story done ?

Put those creative writers to work but in a way that adds to a characters personal story and changes the world they see as they explore. A lot of the people who bought GW 2 did it to explore and pour themselves into the game and their characters not to grind away like a typical MMO.

Dungeons – There really needs to be a way to do these alone, with NPC’s or a much smaller group. There is no reason for a personal story to be tied to having others help you finish it or rely on certain events to happen on a particular map in-order to be able to complete it. I have three friends who have quit playing because after a year of playing they have yet to even complete the game.

I’ve been pretty happy myself watching this game evolve much like the original GW did and I know there should be a way to mesh a little of the original Guild Wars game into GW 2 so you can appease both the true MMO fan and those who enjoyed the private instances in the origianl game ( wasn’t that our personal story ? and what happened to it ? )

These started a week ago and have not quit. I’ve reported the particular PM’s via the report button and since it has to do with gold selling like I feared it hasn’t stopped.
This was brought to the attention of everyone about a week ago and as requested I’ve used the report button to identify the PM’s. Myself I’m not stupid enough to even click on a link like that but these are messages that nobody should be receiving.

Do whatever you have to do but this needs to stop. I can see this scaling into more problems if unwanted PM’s can simply be spammed and botted here on these forums in an attempt to get players to buy gold or to gain information to steal accounts. It’s not a matter of just reporting unwanted PM’s dealing with gold selling. These people don’t stop and some poor kid or someone stupid enough to click one of those links will get hacked or swindled out of something. Judging from the account names I’m seeing on those PM’s I would say that everything I’ve seen so far has been automated.

Not sure what else to do or say so from this point forward all PM’s I receive ( all of them ) will simply be deleted.

I think the largest mistake was fractals being added to the game. Anytime " ONE " area drops more loot or better items then any other spot in the game players will gravitate to that spot. I’ve seen it in just about any game, MMO or not. I’m hoping the next updates correct that but I’m not entirely sure it will.

Dungeons – I hate them with a passion. I’ve only done a few and quite honestly I was more glad when they were done and over with then I was of having been able to actually play them. It isn’t something I would even consider fun. They could add better drops, chests or whatever but again I wouldn’t even bother because they are simply not fun in any sense of the word. I guess if you enjoy beat downs and being able to thump your chest and say " I beat it " more power to you. Finding groups is also a royal pain and as bad as the days when people spent looking for a healer so they could do a run. It’s just replaced with " you need to be level 80 and have good gear or your not in my group ". There’s a lot wrong with dungeons or shall we say things we can improve on.

I would like to think there would be two instances for dungeons. One this ubber powerful , smack down, bashing group thing some people seem to enjoy and many absolutely hate. The second would be one where a single player can go in, experience the story, get a small reward for their trouble and be done with it. Aside from the story I see no reason to want to even do them. It was a mistake to make destiny’s edge story a part of all of those.

“This game has so much potential. The improved looting system that prevents griefing and stealing, the dynamic events and the hearts that replace traditional questing, the stunning visuals, the world and it’s lore, the little cut-scenes, the NPC dialogue, the personal story, the concept behind the home instance and the world bosses. There’s a lot of things here which could make this game THE MMO. "

This part of what you posted is exactly why I still play and enjoy the game. I simply don’t play or do the things I don’t enjoy. Hate P vs P, don’t do it. The open world itself is enough and something which myself and my guild fully immerse themselves in. We’ve also found that W vs W vs W and many of the other things are just added content we can do without. Part of the problem I see with a lot of gamers which seem to burn out or have said they have done " everything " have not. In-fact many just level as fast as they can, ignore the story and what’s around them, get to level 80, hit a few of the end game dungeons and areas and bam there’s nothing else. That couldn’t be farther from the truth and if that is your play style you’re missing a lot of what GW 2 offers.

I can say this though having played GW 1 and GW 2 for probably far longer then a few players is that Arena.net has always strived and listened to it’s players. The original GW 1 game evolved into something which didn’t even resemble what it was when it launched. Improvements, added content, and time made it something even better. The ground work has been laid for something even better here and you even agreed this could be your MMO so give it time. I fully expect this game to evolve and change as well, it’s what they do. Also not sure how you play as a player but a good guild or group of friends adds a whole new dynamic to the game. I suggest finding a good guild as well or building a good friends list. As typical with most MMO’s not all players are exactly helpful so find a good group.

"Official Forums" are they better ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GreyFeathers.8175

Hopefully this comes off as more of constructive feedback then a rant but I’d like to know what other players think and how they feel about the " official " forums here. To me they have failed in every sense of the way to be anything which is better then some of the elite fan sites such as Guild Wars guru or others where flaming and just plain old crap is simply posted. In-order to gain any sort of useful knowledge from them a player is still forced to endure flaming, child like comments, and shift through a wall of nonsense to find anything useful. So the mission of actually creating a site which brought the GW community at large together where ideas, questions and experiences could be shared has really failed. I see no difference here compared to the larger fan sites which in reality are only marginally worse then they are here.

The old fan site program Anet had for GW 1 was I think a better tool for them as was the blog compared to this " Your official forums ". One it allowed community managers the ability to still see the rants and dislikes of the loudest voices and those complaining the hardest without actually being the ones to have to put out the fires and actually constantly baby sit players who act like spoiled children or simply run rampant if no one reins them in. Running a forum is a full time job as is moderating it and only a few times have I seen it done successfully. Unfortunately this isn’t one of them. The scope and idea behind these forums was great and even before GW 2 was released I was one who hoped I would finally have a place to go to ask questions, get respectful answers, and share ideas with players in an envirnoment which was different then the sites most MMO’s call the place to go for ideas and checking things out. This has been no different and at times has actually been worse in my opinion.

1.) The number of players, size and scope of what was intended here is something that can not be controled without a constant presence from Anet and I’m not seeing that. I’m not seeing the banning of accounts which would be a step in the right direction for many players that simply want to push the line and just see how far they can push to get away with it.

2.) I also know the admin / moderators I see posting here have much more to do than make a post here on these forums or reply to a fans concerns. I look for and appreciate those when I see them but the fact is it’s something that with everything else they do that they can’t keep track of what happens here. That would require a full time presence from people who’s job was just that.

In my opinion a site where " official news " was posted and dev’s and folks from Arena.net spoke or blogged about things was better then this wild west free for all which we have now. I know part of the reason to have a place such as this is to gain insight and feedback into the likes and dislikes of fans but that could easily have been done with having community managers or those whose duty it is to do so to monitor those other fan sites. Wouldn’t that have created a better atmosphere and something cleaner and more professional then what is here ? It’s not hard for fans to see where to go and find folks or players of a similiar nature and what message do you honestly think this site sends most of the time ?

I’ve been a player of GW 1 since it was launched and a player of GW 2 since I was able to get my hands on the beta. I’m expressing these opinions so perhaps some can see how the site is actually viewed and that in the end I think it detracts from the game in a negative manner. When something becomes a thing you need to ignore or much worse have to tolerate and not really get anything from, most people who have any sense simply move on or stop interacting with it. In my opinion it would have been far better to have stayed with monitoring fan sites for feedback and having a site for " official news and blogs " where information could have easily been shared without creating this wild west show we have here where anything constructive is just so easily lost in the non sense and simple crap which runs rampant here. From a players stand point I think something like that would have been way more professional, more easily monitored and freed up valuable time which could be spent doing much better things. You’ll never control gamers as a whole and this isn’t the envirnoment that many of your die hard fans were hoping to see.

Seriously the flaming, whinning and other crap on the forums isn’t bad enough to have to sort through that now we are receiving emails from gold sellers ? I love the game it’s been a great release and fun to play even though I disagree with some things thats been done with the it. I had hoped though that these forums would honestly have been better than what you see at Guru or other larger fan sites but it’s failed miserably in being a spot where gamers actually come together and help one another. It’s happening but only if you’re patient enough to sort through all of the other crap thats here as well.

Should we be concerned that now we’re being targeted by gold sellers here ? It ruins the game and honestly these forums have enough trouble without this being thrown in the mix. What you see above is a copy and paste of a PM I received and if it has to do with gold selling I’m guessing it will not be the last. I sincerely hope this is something Anet can look into and stomp out or I’m done with anything that relates to this site.

The event might have been fun but I prefer playing with friends not random people. I really wished we had seen this earlier as we sat aside time to do this as a group ( I belong to a small guild ) and it was disappointing to find we can not even do this as a group. So much for planning game time with friends. The open world gives me enough randomness that I seriously don’t need it with events, dungeons or other areas that will actually require some team work and communication.

Not wasting time with random groups just to experience it. Wintersday has been fun but the finale for it has left a lot to be desired. I guess if you wanted a rating for Wintersday since it’s drawing to an end I would give you all a 70% since the end event and the acheivements attached to it came to such a poor close with this event.

There is probably some merged thread for this somewhere already but I would have to agree. There was a variety of events to appeal to just about every type of gamer and the end rewards were geared so it didn’t matter if you played one thing over another to acheive your holiday title.

The creativity of some of the events and the in-game items are amazing. The graphics and designs of Tyria’s landscape also never ceases to amaze me when I see the new decorations for events the first time around and Wintersday was epic in Lion’s Arch. Also allowing players to play the one time events over and on their own time was a HUGE step forward for one time events. A lot of past mistakes were corrected from previous events and I’d say Wintersday was a HUGE success. I’ve had a blast with the content and have absolutely enjoyed it all, well I still hate jump puzzles but that’s besides the point

Happy Holidays and a huge thanks to those who made this all possible !

Repeating City Tours

You repeat the " city tours " as you called them by entering the dungeon that is in Lion’s Arch. Once you enter the dungeon there is a toy control panel where you select which toy you want to see made in the dungeon. By doing this you set the dungeon up for the visit for that particular city. They can be done in any order as well but you will only get the toy frame and goodies the first time you do those. If you repeat them the end chest will still spawn but there will be no toy frames, cogs, glue or things like that the second time around.

If you wanted to see what it was like when he visited the Grove you would select the ventari toy or the toy soldier for the Black Citedale, ect.

Hope that helps

Orr is dead

You know a lot of this is going to depend on the server you’re on as well and good luck trying to switch to another since servers are either full or very populated. I recently switched from a full server to one which was less populated and Orr areas are very hard to find a group for but the one server I just came from was just as bad. You could always guarantee being thrown into an over flow if you headed to Lion’s Arch since everyone was doing fractals. Put better quality drops in another spot of the game and where do you think the majority of your players will go ?

Servers will play a part in areas being active or not but how and where items are dropped is currently the biggest problem. I love the open world better than any other spot or spots in the game but new content that’s just dungeon this or dungeon that will eventually hurt areas besides Orr. Loved those areas and still do I can’t believe there isn’t some sort of back up plan for what’s happening either because I can’t believe that Arena.net would have been that short sighted about what would actually happen. I’ve stated this before and I’ll say it again, the game we had at launch will not be the game we have a year from now or two years from now. They’ll also do things to ensure new players to the game can also play and enjoy it, they’re not making this game or the updates just for the people that’s here folks.

Sometimes for me the basic stuff seems to look the best and as armor increases in price or rarity it just gets uglier but there’s a lot out there for different tastes and thank god for transmutation stones !

The GW-EN crew and Gamers Giving Back

GreyFeathers.8175

I believe this is where this type of post belongs but I wanted to bring this group to the attention of those within the Guild Wars community who might not know about them. GW-EN is an on-line radio station that has DJ’s playing music and taking requests from players. Most of their DJ’s are also GW 2 players and as they play music they also hand out some pretty cool prizes. They also have a group called Gamer’s Giving Back as well dedicated to charities and fund raising. The two groups are made up of the same volunteers and they’ve taken their love of video games and did something incredible with it by also raising money for charities and causes such as fighting breast cancer. If you’ve heard of Pink Day in LA, that’s these folks and those of us within the gaming community who support them.

There is always something going on with these folks and you can check out their main site at http://gw-en.com/ for activities and a schedule of their DJ’s. They also have a following on Twitter and Facebook and there are also links to the Gamers Giving Back website there as well. Some of the activities they currently have going on include a Wintersday Card contest for some real life prizes and I know one of the DJ’s is also running a contest where if he gets a 100 listeners for his shows he will be awarding a set of exotic armor for some lucky listener. That particular DJ is " Ursa " so check out his shows.

I’ve had the fortune of helping plan events and actually game with these people and they’re a great group from all walks of life. Their Gamer’s Giving Back group does some amazing things and the on-line radio GW-EN has done some pretty awesome stuff for players both in and out of the game. There’s also a variety of different Dj’s with different tastes in music so give them a listen and pick a favorite, perhaps you’ll end up with one or two. You’ll also be able to listen to and hear what they are currently doing as these two groups work hand in hand with one another and are run by some of the same people.

Open world is far more fun and I wish we had more of that. I don’t find dungeons the least bit fun and am disappointed the story of Destiny’s Edge is tied into that and not the open world or as part of your personal story.

I doubt I’ll ever find dungeons fun. I’m more glad that they’re over with at the end then I am of actually playing them. The Open world is where it’s at, exploring and dynamic events are where its at for me.

Yeah this hurt bad since we all switched over but my small crew has been able to do more that larger guilds can’t since we do work together. But if you switch anything you have is gone. Guild Storage… anything in it kiss it all good bye. Like I said I guess it’s my own fault for not reading up more on the process and the switch will be beneficial in the long run but WOW… what a real kick in the butt by the developers. I guess it keeps large alliances bringing to bear things when they switch if you look at gold as something which could also imbalance their W vs W vs W which is the biggest issue concerning all of this. For us RP types and those who just like to do things for the community such as host, help and schedule events Anet is killing us and keeping our hands tied. I could start an entire conversation about how the mechanics in this game has split more than one community and kept people apart more than it has helped bring them together.

Oh well I guess we take the hit, rebuild and live with it like it or not. Thanks for the reply though.

Well I guess this is all on me and my own fault for not reading everything prior to making a world jump but a small 7 man guild that’s made of casual players gets slammed for everything they’ve earned in the past simply for switching worlds ?

Why ?

What in the hell could we possibly do that would unbalance the game or their precious W vs W vs W competition that things for our guild such as storage and buffs for guild members need to be nuked for a server switch ?

Switching servers ?

I just noticed that when our guild switched servers we lost all of our upgrades and influence we had built and earned ? Our choice to switch was based on our inability to help out and be with friends on that server and now we find out all we’ve worked for over the past 3 months is gone ? Is this a temporary thing or did we just get the shaft ?

We’re a small group more interested in P vs E and being with others we’ve gamed with and worked on community events with in Guild Wars I. Arena.net has been slow to introduce guesting and we’re done waiting so we’ve made the switch. The switch was from Storm Bluff Isle to Henge of Denravi so it isn’t like we’re playing the alliance games or anything for W vs W vs W. In fact we could care less about that. We went from a top P vs P server to one that’s at the bottom.

Why would we loose all the things our small group has built over the past 3 months ? I really hope this is a temporary thing. If it isn’t all I can say is Anet is wondering why the community here and from GW I isn’t as close ? Small guilds and friends are what cements your player base not server based games and the inability of players to join their friends no matter where they are.

Wow ….. Really ? Do some of you people realize that you sound like children throwing a tantrum because little Johnny got the super mega elite item and little Susan didn’t get anything special ? Since Susan spent all weekend on playing she deserves so much more than Johnny because he didn’t really play ? I’d love to know what guilds you all play in or groups you belong to. It has to be filled more drama and crying then a day care center. Good luck with those attitudes of elitism and selfishness boys and girls. Let me know how that turns out.

I for one hate fractals and dungeons and could care less about the entire event. I do have friends who did play that weekend and didn’t get their rewards and last night they got their rewards and were very happy. I’m also happy to read that others who played that weekend also got rewards and you know what ?……. GOOD FOR THEM !

Unfortunately I was at Deer Camp that weekend and didn’t play ( Yes…. I have a life outside of Guild Wars ) and I wasn’t here for the event. I doubt I would have played it to begin with but I didn’t get a free bunch of loot * Cries and stamps his feet like a little baby * OMG ! it’s the end of the world and I don’t ever want to play again this is so unfair ! This is really what some of you people sound like.

I’m glad folks received their just rewards for the event and happy for those who got something good for themselves or to share with others. For those complaining about others being rewarded for just being logged on that weekend, get over it. Arena.net made things right and to those new to how these folks do things they tend to make sure people get their just rewards and sometimes they even include others to make sure nobody who might have deserved something doesn’t get left out. Get over it !

GW2 takes everything you love about GW1...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GreyFeathers.8175

GreyFeathers.8175

Honestly I think the game has had a very rough start as well and a few mistakes have been made at least in this players opinion but GW 1 and GW 2 are so completely different how in the heck can you really even compare the two ? I played the original game for seven years and even in GW 2 I’ve started off as one of the folks who were having fun and playing the weekend beta events. There are things I absolutely hate about this game and things I absolutely love about this game and honestly I’d have to say I’m either loving it or hating it at any particular moment so I’ve tried to stick to areas and just the things I’m enjoying. Looking back I’ve did the same thing with the original Guild Wars game.

I guess if I had to say I missed something it would be the instances I had in GW 1 to simply explore in the world with a party of my own design. Now GW 2 is giving us that party instance but for dungeons instead of the world and are pretty much a level based elite area which are simply a beat down for most of your casual players and no fun at all to play. I avoided DOA / UW / and FOW in GW 1 because I ran into the same thing players are running into now with fractals and dungeons in general. Be it gear checks, level restrictions, or whatever elitism flavor of the month is in-order to accomplish these areas and get into a group. I could do these areas in GW 1 on my own. Anytime you’re pushing me into having to group up with complete strangers for accomplishing something, yeah this is never going to work for me. On a map where there might be 25 – 30 of us okay I guess because then if I feel like the group is a group I don’t want to listen to or help I can go my separate way. To endure it for 30 minutes to an hour, no thank you ! They need these areas to appease your so called hard core or elite gamers who play the game but they made some bad blunders by making it so GW 2’s game lore and some of it’s story line is tied into these areas.

I miss being able to explore the game’s entire story without the need for every having to set my foot in any elite zone and having to endure the antics and prejudices of players in-order to be a part of that world. Elite gear was still obtainable without doing these areas in GW 1 if one simply put in the time but here in GW 2 that isn’t the case, you’re forced to play these areas if you wish to have a character that stays on par with everyone else. I also still see them grouping together P vs P and P vs E in this game and honestly hasn’t the past shown this has never worked ?

It’s hard to list items and give just a bullet or two about what I like and dislike about this game but I can say this. Since I did play GW 1 for so long I can remember having to seriously hope of having a good party to complete Thunderhead Keep before we ever got heroes and let’s face it the henchmen really didn’t cut it. Anyone else remember those days ? Over time though the game evolved into something that players who joined it many years later would have absolutely no idea what on earth those of us who could remember the game’s early years or start was even talking about. I can see GW 2 evolving and doing the same things. I will say I am concerned though that since this is more of an MMO than GW 1 is that I Hope the current direction of the game doesn’t become the trend. If you only add elite end game areas without adding on to the world and force party driven instances on players to obtain all the new things you add into a game then there isn’t much point in playing for some of your fan base. I think we’ll see this game evolve as the last game did and I’m waiting and hoping in a few more months to see a new direction and some things added to the game which will keep my interest. Currently many of the things I hate about MMO’s are almost to the point of over shadowing the things I love about this game so I’m one that is simply waiting to see what happens and based on my experience with Arena.net in the past, I’ve been both disappointed and blown away but in the end I always ended up as the winner in the long run. I’ve yet to see a group of designers and folks try so hard to please everyone and for most of us above the age of seven we should realize this can never happen. Here’s to hoping that somewhere in-between the two games that GW 2 settles and 90 % of us can say we got what we wanted.

Problem with trading post ?

This one has been stumping me for awhile now and I honestly have no idea why this happens but it is aggravating to say the least. My issue with the trading post has been I’ve been unable to sell things at times. I can bring up the gem store, look at what’s for sale, browse that, and all the other features seem to work but when it comes to bringing up the screen to sell things it seems to act like it’s doing something and BAM nothing it just sits there. Now I’ve tried the usual logging off and that doesn’t work but the annoying part is sometimes it works just fine and seems to have fixed itself. For the past two days I’ve been unable to use the trading post to sell anything.

Like I said I’ve tried logging off completely and re-logging on only to find the problem is still there and when it seems like the screen for selling things might load it simple does nothing. Is this a common issue with a easy fix or is this something I’ll be sorting out with support for the next few days ?

If anyone has found a solution to this problem and has had the same issues I’d appreciate the help and information.

I’ve never really been a fan of the true MMO’s and having spent seven years on Guild Wars I, I was one who couldn’t wait to get my hands on GW 2. I bought into the line of " If you like MMO’s you’ll want to try GW 2 and if you hate MMO’s you’ll definitely want to try out GW 2." This might not be the exact words for a quote and I’m guessing the folks at Arena.net are very tired of being quoted at this point but the meaning behind it is the same. I loved the instances in GW 1, it was a place where I could chill and do things on my own without worrying about the antics of other players. It also offered areas like dungeons and elite areas where I could schedule time with my friends and conquer those when I got to it. They were a side part to the story not a part of it. They created " elite " areas for varying character levels and these are spots where some players are simply not going to play. Your personal story should have been just that " personal " and then once explorable was unlocked you could choose to do the dungeon thing if you so desired. They honestly need to move back to the " personal " side of things a bit and give the world of dynamic events, renowned hearts and exploring some love. Forcing parties and making new content only available like that is only going to create even bigger rifts in their game and make other areas pretty much unplayable for role playing types and what I consider the more casual gamer.

Seems like they want W vs W vs W to succeed so bad they’re forcing it down our throats. To many it’s a fun place to play but honestly it’s still P vs P to me and if compared to anything it’s a strategy game with the players being the pieces. I’ve always hated playing against other players and no matter how you dress it up it isn’t something I’ll play.

I agree with things that have been said and suggested not just here but in other threads that the monthly achievements should have options of completing various things and not just a select few. To me it would seem that the world where dynamic events, renowned hearts and your personal story takes place needs more love then any other spot in the game.
