Bladed Armor Chest Acquisition? Verdant Brink
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Grundle.7302
I’ve been trying for a few weeks, daily to acquire the Bladed Armor Chest piece that requires 100% participation, T4 and getting lucky at a night cycle boss. It’s been frustrating to say the least. Most maps never reach T4 and none of the champions or legendaries have dropped a chest in the many times in I’ve participated in the boss fights. The requirements to obtain this one piece of armor to complete the set seems out of reach now that participation from the community is low. Even obtaining a legendary from scratch seems easier at this point.
Any tips that can help me be more successful? Should I contact Anet and tell them because of the zone mechanics, it’s nearly impossible to obtain this item? Thanks in advance.
Sept. 29th patch broke the Dreamer aura (nay) sound when you fire the bow. It was fixed the next day on the 30th with the volume increased. The increase was a great intended/unintended fix. Thanks Anet! But a day or so later, the sound for the bow no longer works for some players, but works for others? I’m hearing this from several people I test this with. Some people, it works for, others don’t hear the bow like myself, the owner of the bow. Any suggestion?
Edit:
Update 1: Tried -repair in cmd line, didn’t fix it.
Update 2: I can get it to work when players are not around me (more than 5m away) When around a group of players, it’s goes silent. Could it be a side effect of the instrument fix patch on the 29th?

Any word on whether or not this can be corrected? Also, I’ve noticed the costume brawl boxing gloves have the GW2 Tshirt now. I thought the Tshirt was suppose to be an exclusive item to those who obtained them from going to Anet events and website contests. Please stop templating all the costumes!
If it was intentional, please put the champion back. Exploring the world was thrilling with champion encounters like these. PvE becomes stagnant when your taking out these difficult foes.
I like the tonics but don’t like the fact that some separate town clothes, like the GW2 TShirt, don’t have a matching outfit. Can you guys fix this one please? I’ll take whoever approve this change to Bellevue Square Cheesecake Factory and you can get whatever you want

Thanks Anet. You guys are trying hard.
Still bugged. Glad someone already spotted and reported this.
We’ve been doing events in and around this champions spawn area for two days now with no spawn in. Is he not located where the wiki says bcuz of an event or perhaps truly bugged?

Spidy crawls the TP on a timer. It only crawls every few minutes instead of constantly as a consideration to ANET so that they dont hit DDOS levels of requests on the already (somehow) laggy BLTC servers. Spidy has been ruled to be legal during BWEs and again afterwards.
Spidy finds its own data and scrapes the TP itself, though the item tooltips and whatnot are garnered from gw2db. The API doesn’t offer aged data, if you do a large request (item-all) from it and compare it to items on the site you will get the same results unless the items have been updated since you downloaded your database. It’s also preferable to use item-all instead of item/<itemid> on spidy because of the lessened server load. It’s easier for him to send you one 8.5mb file than it is for him to field 20,000 requests for each individual item.
He’s pretty open about how the site works, with the open source on github and all so I will never understand all of the misconceptions on this site over his methodology.
Looks like the niche I have been using to make the last 100g finally closed up, anyone wanna share their or help me find a new one
Awesome idea, Minion. I’ve been debating if I wanted to buy the precursor but I think I’ll wait until this scavenger hunt shows up. Since the one I wont (The Lover) is starting to grow at an absurd rate it may make me feel a bit more accomplished to pick up some mats and complete some other gifts along the way.
Thanks!
Great advice. I think I’ll consider expanding my niche a bit to maintain some residual income while I research other markets. Manipulating and resetting a market seems fun, but I’m just not comfortable throwing so much of my capital into it at once.
Thanks again for the response, back to grinding my face into spidy :x
So I’ve spent some time flipping some items and made my way up to ~215g with another ~100g in sell orders that could take forever to pass. My method worked great with the 40g investment I put in, but past a 60g investment it has reached a cap.
I’m looking for advice or pointers on where I can start throwing some money around now that I have a bit more to play with. I am saving for a legendary (need 400g more, so 600 total) and would like to increase my investment and earnings.
If you don’t want to post openly, feel free to PM or whisper in game.
What you should consider doing is not throwing your hat and opinions in on items you know nothing about. If you don’t know how a system works, or why it works OR whether it is allowed you could consider not posting allegations.
The author of the site has permission to run it from the developers. And there is nothing they are going to do to stop people from running scripts against their web site. If they wanted it to be difficult to scrape they should’ve used anything OTHER than a web server you can log into, so this is obviously intended.
You realize that it is no more difficult to crawl the TP yourself than it is to crawl the spidy DB?
The TP returns JSON after a simple webform authentication so any programmer worth his salt would be able to login, store the session ID and read the data directly from the server. Taking down “SUPER BOTS” like gw2spidy would actually just make it so regular people can’t obtain market data, and only people with a generally negative interest in the market would be able to.
The author of the script asked the devs during BWE if they had a problem with it and they said they didn’t. His script doesn’t go through the game at all, but simply crawls the web site that hosts the TP.
If they didn’t want that to be done they probably would’ve made it a bit more difficult to do. And as it doesn’t actually buy or sell any items automatically I don’t think anyone really sees a problem with it. It merely gathers statistics, doesn’t make anyone richer or poorer.
He pulls his recipe data from gw2db, I believe. So if there are inconsistencies/incorrect recipes in their database they will also trickle to spidy. Another thing to keep in mind on his prices is that the site uses a crawler to index all of the items on the TP and because of this there is generally a slight lag on items with large price fluctuation.
The best thing you can do is cross-reference with guildwarstrade and pray that Anet releases their API they promised pre-release.
It’s silly really, they guy with 800 gold or whatever (the ones that need the big sinks) aren’t really effected at all by a few silver here or there, But the “lesser” player, with a couple gold to his name is the one to calculate these to losses.
Lose the nickel and dime ing, add some sinks that will actually make a difference in gold flow. Example? Guild dues, and taxes, keeps hoppers from hopping, adds a loyalty base(some BIG ones could be used for halls whenever they come around).
That’s what my tiny split pea brain is telling me anyways =D
Sounds like a great way to kill an already fledgling guild system. We can ask players to pay to receive no benefits!
They have STRONGLY increased the cashflow to the players every month since release. This was a viable concern when people couldn’t afford trait books. Right around now you should be able to muster up enough gold to get to your DE chains.
If you can’t afford it you need to die less and focus on where you are WPing more. (ie: don’t use WPs all the time, use gates and walk around)
cool and all but do you pay real money to get the mystic salvage kits? I get them from playing in-game but i don’t do whatever it takes to get a lot of them :p
I haven’t spent anything on this game other than the game itself.
I bought a lot of gems early on when they weren’t expensive, then during the thanksgiving sale I bought tons of mystic forge stones at a discounted price. I still have about 3k gems left… but after I blow through these last 20 mystic stones… I’ll have to go do the math to see if it’s even worth it to do what I’ve been doing for ecto’s/gold anymore (which I doubt).
I just did the math for myself, it comes out to 1.12s per charge of a mystic kit and ~62c for a charge of a master’s. It’s up to you if the rate increase is THAT much better, but for me it’s master’s kits until the price on gems drops back down.
To the other guy: no one salvaging 1000 rares is looting them all. They are all getting bought up off the TP
I salvage massive numbers of items. I blow through stacks of mystic salvage kits at an alarming rate. I get about 1 ecto per item on average with them. There are streaks where i get none for a while, but that’s later made up by getting 2’s and 3’s.
Your statement would be the true if ANet was flipping coins or Rolling Dice but the reality is that there is nothing Random about a Computer Random Number Generator. Computers do not spit out random numbers. The output only appears random. Computers have to operate within a specific set of guidelines.
You can get a computer to spit out random numbers… Random.org does it by using atmospheric noise to produce the numbers instead of just a formula.
I’m sure this game doesn’t do that though… :P
The RNG in this game isn’t at all bad at being random from what I can tell. What I think the problem is that most people expect far fewer streaks than what will happen in a random situation.
People expect 4 upgrades when they do 20 flushes of the mystic toilet, every set of 20 rares salvaged to produce a total of 20 ectos, etc… because that’s the average. But that’s just not how it works. The sample sizes are just too small. Within a small sample you can have all sorts of results which… don’t really mean anything.
Manipulation of the chances… is a totally different beast…
I agree with people that don’t like the randomness in their game… I would prefer a set 1 ecto per rare and for the mystic toilet to just require a set # of the same quality item to produce an upgrade. But oh well : /
Thank you. After reading this post I did another couple hundred rares, and got 10 in a row that didn’t give me any ectos. But if you look at my spreadsheet at the end of the mystic salvage kit I received 0.89 ectos per rare which is well within the standard deviation of the originally reported .90 drop rate from around release.
If you increase your sample size you will increase your chances of breaking away from RNG and pushing yourself closer to the intended drop rate. The guy with the explanation of standard deviation nailed it.
And guy with the “computers can’t generate random numbers”: your argument is irrelevant. Of course nothing can systematically generate something completely random and this isn’t a secret, but the flaws in any computer’s RNG aren’t what is giving you kitten loot. ANET’s DR is what is giving you kitten loot.
Do you realise in this thread you have said you have salvaged over 1000 rares just to check the ecto rate?
Guess what, I just salvaged 2000 rares and got no ecto. Proof that it has been nerfed.
Where did I say that I salvaged the rares JUST TO CHECK THE ECTO RATE? I believe I stated I salvaged the rares, which anyone should have been able to pick up was probably not for an experiment. I found a market where I can make about 25% ROI on salvaging some rares. Because of this, I salvage a lot of rares. The way this market works is on calculated odds of dropped materials from each item and because of this I keep records on each run of salvages I do. If I didn’t I could lose a couple hundred gold before I noticed the downswing.
Didn’t think that needed to be explained but lowest common denominator and all, I guess.

Rally is bad>
Why??
If you are downed, and you rally, no armor penalty.
If you are downed and ally helps you up, you get an armor penalty. This system promotes people to leave teammates on the deck.
As far as I know, you only get armor penalty from death..
No.
Again, as I have stated, you get an armor penalty if you are downed and you get raised by an ally. You get NONE if you are rallied (i.e. mob defeat).
Knowing, and understanding the rally system is a boon to this so called teamwork. But honestly, if yoiu were working as a team in the first place, you wouldn’t have anyone down in the first place right???
As for rallying a buddy, if its not possible to kill a mob, no harm in leaving them there, or lend a helping hand.
The point being that the MECHANICS punish you for team play, unless team play consists of DPS zerg fest: Kill it! Kill it!! Kill it! mentality.
But this is a general trend through their whole game as well.
Except no.
You ONLY take armor damage if you are defeated. If you are downed and brought up in any way be it rally or player rez you take no damage. There is no debate. There is no question. This is fact, or else every fractal group would require 25 repair canisters to make it through.
I’ve salvaged over 900 rares in the last 48 hours and still get ~0.91 ectos per rare. Just as stated within a few weeks of release.
RNG is RNG. A sample size of 7 is useless in this case.
iOS:

Or just fix the text search. If I search for something and there are no matches, just return no matches. Don’t return every item that contains at least two of the same letters making the page unsortable.
I hope they add punctuation.
ANET should tell us about bug fixes, so we know that it’s safe to go back to something we stopped doing because of bugs.
ANET shouldn’t tell us which exploits are fixed. That way any exploiters will waste time trying the closed exploit before moving on to the next one.The area between the two is very murky.
The issue with that is their loose definition of exploit. Anything you do in the game OTHER than buy gems with cash is considered an exploit by some blowhard on the forums. So yes, some of us want to know which exploit they fixed.
Can’t they ban the IP range of the botters?
No. I don’t think you grasp what that would entail for the unfathomable amount of people who could innocently get caught in an IP range ban.
I just picked up an SSD and it went from taking ~30s to load LA during peak to ~8s… so it’s worth it.
Not to mention booting before my monitor finishes coming out of sleep mode.
the problem with rough estimates is that if I gave a date, that’s /the/ date everyone will expect it. Then, if it’s not ready, people get upset with us. It’s just best to say “we’re on it!” and try to get it out as quick as we can, with as much awesome functionality as we can
but.. to evoke Colin Johandsome: “When it’s ready.”
Could always use another companies line, “Soon™”
Are you Jebus from Profit O_O
And one I wrote for iPhone (shameless plug, yes) called iQuaggan.
And gw2spidy.com for web browsers, since my app and the Android app use his database/API.
Exactly! I heard they were releasing TP API at some point, but it’s easy enough to send JSON queries to the web site with your game auth key. I was hoping there was something like that but with all my sniffing around I couldn’t find any specific server for the WvWvW info.
It seems like it is fed to the game client like all other info, and I like my account so I don’t wanna risk it just for the stats on my server group!
The jumping puzzle gives you free siege. It is NOT in the enemy team’s best interest to let that happen.
I don’t understand why this is such a difficult concept to grasp?
There is NO open world PvP, so if you aren’t in WvWvW or sPvP you CAN NOT get griefed doing a jumping puzzle. Fun fact.
To the devs, I am looking for a quick(ish) answer. I am looking to make a few mobile apps centered around the WvWvW aspect of the game. I plan on releasing them for Android, iOS, and WP7/8 along with tablet companions.
Where I hit my issue is that I have most of the things working, I am just wondering if there is any resource that allows me to pull relatively recent WvW stats for each server triplet? Something that could tell me points on tally, score, percentage (could figure this out if I could get the rest) would be ideal. I know the TP is a simple webapp that I can query with JSON but unfortunately haven’t been able to find the WvW stats anywhere.
I know I could read them from memory, but that has two issues:
1. Against ToS
2. Only works for the server triplet I am a part of, so I would need at least 10 accounts to make this viable. This would also mean I couldn’t release the apps for free since I would incur at LEAST $600 dev cost.
Thanks for your response!
