Honestly I don’t see the need for a gear treadmill, if this is how the game is indeed going, due to the fact this game doesn’t have a subscription fee. Most other MMO’s crank out new “better” gear for their gear treadmill to keep people striving for that next bit or piece of gear so they can suck more subscription fees from people. GW2 has the gem shop (which by the way isn’t that great right now, hopefully it’ll get better) and the initial purchase of the game to keep it running. Yes, they need to keep players interested enough to keep playing or at least to keep coming back to grab some gem shop things… but holidays and “special events” tend to do that anyway.
Example: Joe leaves GW2 because he’s mildly bored with it and wants to try other things. He’s already bought the game and maybe a few gems for a costume/keys/chests/minis and he feels he got his fun out of it and Anet got some money. He comes back for a “winter/Christmas” event since they are having a fun event. He also notices they have some fancy skin that looks like Santa or a Snow man or some such, he picks it up for probably around 5~10 USD and plays with it for a few days~week. The event then ends, Joe plays for a few days maybe a week and then leaves again, only to come back for “Spring/Easter” event. Cycle repeats.
Gamer’s like Joe are what games like this, games with cash shops as their main income that is, thrive on. Rarely do games that use cash shops actually rely on dedicated players outside of free publicity. Hell, we saw it with the Mad King event I bet you could find some people who had stopped playing in the first month who came back and spent boatloads on mad king chests and keys as well as the skins. We’ll see it with whatever holiday event they pull out for December and maybe even the next few random “world changing” events in between holidays.
To address those saying there is nothing to accomplish in GW2 after max level, yes they could have done more with skills and traits and probably should have/will. But there is so much more to do than level up and “grind gear” such as exploration, PvP, Legendaries getting multiple sets of exotics(now ascendants) so that you can be good for any circumstance (healing power, condition damage, strait up power, tankier via toughness/vit) and achievements to name a few.
This game was seemed meant to have an “elitist” culture as even the legendaries are mostly cosmetic in nature since the stats are fixed and can easily be outdone by exotics if they aren’t what you are looking for.
In summary: Gear Treadmill doesn’t belong in GW2 as it is not necessary for the game to continue on.
I think you only have 3 hours of event time left unfortunately. I believe it ends at 12:00 PST
I’ve always thought language filters in MMOs were overly strict, it’s why I turn them off when I can so I’m not bothered by them… Cucumber is blocked by a lot of these “smart” chat filters because it contains a certain term.
It doesn’t make much sense to NOT have a trade system.
People are saying it’ll cause everyone and their mother to bypass the BLTP, which is not the case. To bypass the TP the seller would have to sell their item cheaper than the TP which may or may not be worth it. The only time I see it being truly worth it to bypass the BLTC is with items that are a multiple tens or hundreds of gold.
People saying trade systems can cause you to get scammed, yes that’s true… Usually to the fault of the party getting scammed not checking the items/gold they are receiving. As for the “faster reflexes/clicking speed” there are many MMOs that handle trading by forcing both parties to not only hit accept trade but hit confirm trade, essentially locking in their items before hitting the final “Trade” button. It doesn’t make scamming impossible but the old “put in real item, take it out/replace it at last minute” is infinitely harder to do if both parties take their time to check the opposing parties items. These systems where you “lock in” your trade also automatically unlock the other parties trade lock once you change the contents of your trade window as to not allow someone to switch and lock in their trade without the other person’s knowledge should the trader already have locked in.
Example of said system: Player A wants to trade his Fancy Top Hat for Player B’s Magic Pants. Player A and Player B go into the trade window and both place their items in, both players check the items and see that they are indeed a Fancy Top Hat and a pair of Magic Pants. Both players then lock in, no one can change the contents of the trade window. At this point either player still has the option to hit “cancel trade” rather than “confirm trade” in case B decides his Magic Pants aren’t worth a Fancy Top Hat or vice-verse. But since both A and B are upstanding players and not trying to scam each other and they both still want the items they both are trading they hit “Confirm Trade” and the items are swapped.
In this example if B wanted the Fancy Top Hat but did not want to give up his Magic Pants and tried to switch out his Magic Pants for Normal Pants that had the same icon A’s “trade lock” would have been undone alerting him to a change in the trade, A could then check the item to make sure it was still Magic Pants, realizing it was Normal Pants he could then cancel the trade and basically tell B to screw off or report him for attempting to scam.
Also, the whole trading post fills the need for trading is a complete fallacy. Some players do not want to or have the gold to spend on X item yet they know someone who has X item and would like their item Y. With the current system a player would have to sell Y to get gold to hopefully buy X. Also, what if the guy with X item would rather have Y item than gold, but no Y’s are on the TP but he know’s someone who has a Y and is looking for X. Trading items via the trading post can be cumbersome at best if you are trying for specific players if not totally impossible.
And as mentioned before, implementation of a /trade chat would eliminate the “clutter” of WTB WTS WTT from /map, /team, and /say if properly enforced.
In closing, there are reasons why almost every single MMO, and some non MMOs, have a trade feature it’s because it’s a much easier method of player interaction on an individual basis in regards to items and it saves a lot of grief that players may have. (as shown by the multitude of threads that pop up from time to time and the in-game complaints.) Even if it’s just for convinace sake, we should have a direct player to player trade function.

I wanted to say I did something that a lot of people where saying was impossible. Guess that’s the Norn in me, just another accomplishment to add to my legend!
Mad King Thorn all the way, I fell in love with the concept of the character the first time I heard about him. Good Ol’ Headless just seemed to be a rip off of the actual Headless Horseman, but done incredibly poorly… (If you’re going to rip off something to the point it shares the same name at least make it faithful to it’s inspiration, if you’re not gonna rip it off completely actually put some thought into your creation.)
I loved the clock tower, the only thing I can say that maybe needed to be different is… It kinda NEEDS to be solo-able. I had no trouble with the crowds since I’m a Norn and towered over everyone else ensuring that I could see where I was going, but I had so many people complaining that I was blocking their view or that there where too many people to see past. The difficulty doesn’t need to be reduced, hell it could even be increased and still be stellar! The only thing is Anet needs to try to find a way to make jumping puzzles like this(timed ones) Solo-able if the player so chooses so that we don’t have quite so many complaints. Just playing devil’s advocate here, as I said I loved the puzzle and think it could have been made a bit harder, actually felt I achieved something when I finished it the first time(rare in almost any game in this generation of gaming). Wish the slippers looked more like slippers than high boots though. :p
I completely support this. I just recently got power back and hopped on to “attend the party” and as lame as it sounds it made my freakin’ day to be able to do something so trivial as typing in emotes for Mad King Thorn. I understand it would probably take time that they’d rather spend elsewhere but it’d be one hell of a gesture that would probably make a lot of people even just a bit happier and honestly I see also doing good for their public appearance. Yes an action like this would piss off a vocal few who think “it’s not an achievement if you did’t achieve it!” due to not being there or “Worry about your family and RL stuff not a game” but those guys are easy enough to ignore when you see how many other people Anet’d make happy with such a simple gesture.(not saying it’d be a quick and simple thing to implement as they’d have to code a new “achievement item” and then the mailing script/code) I support this idea.
If fan art of good ol’ Sheo and Thorn doesn’t happen I will have lost what little faith I have left in this world.
I feel bad for you, It was a pretty fun dungeon. I almost missed out on Act 4 but power was restored to my area just before midnight, and I know how crappy it made me feel that I was probably not gonna have access to the final event. The Act 3 dungeon should have been available until the event end so people who couldn’t make it during Act 3 could finish the dungeon.
Honestly, I think a lot of people would stop complaining about this if the Mad King title counted ALL off the event achievements in the 5 required, I for one have all but attend the party, I’d like recognition for doing my damnedest to get what I could in before I lost power. Although I would have liked to take part in the event more than get an achievement.
As a side note, people bringing up the Real World consequences of hurricanes and children dying in Africa etc. Yes those are trageties, yes those things suck… we but they are currently irrelevant to this thead. I’m not being heartless, I’m trying to keep this thread on track.
I think the best solution to problems like this in the future is to NOT have events in acts/stages and just have it fully open all event with special non-achievement mini events throughout the main event that don’t give a special reward other than being able to say “I was there” now this isn’t a perfect solution but it seems to cover what many are concerned with, the achievement. As for this event? Anet has officially stated that they do not plan anything for the inconvenience of their east coast players and as such have failed those players. Lets hope they handle this stuff better in the future. Probably wont though given their less than stellar customer support for GW2 so far.
A lot of people are still acting like the only way to solve the problem is to push back the event or “just stop crying about a virtual event when your family is in danger” honestly all it seems like it’d take is an event npc that lets you partake in a party after the fact for a week or so, it doesn’t seem like it’d be hard to set up or all that time consuming…
Honestly, I think any situation where a natural disaster screws people over in terms of an event it should have some way for those people to participate. Regardless of where they are from. People who didn’t see the mad king cutscene in LA could watch it on YouTube and still participate in the dungeon event. People missing out on this part of the event just get screwed out of it, yes they can go watch someone else do it on YouTube but that’s not the same as DOING the event. My point is if it’s an instanced area , like the mad king’s realm why not leave an NPC somewhere to teleport players to the Act 4 party event. If it’s not instanced and the mad king just dances around LA belting crappy jokes at people then give everyone that achievement so the people who give a kitten stop kittening
Yes there are more important things than a game, but aren’t we allowed to voice out opinions and frustraition f everything more important is currently good and well accounted for? As it is the storm has passed all i love hand hold dear, still out of power and still annoyed that I, along with others, wount be able to participat in something fun that’s a one time thing , at the very least until next year maybe, and I’m annoyed by it. Don’t think it’d take much effort to do something for those affected.
I personally feel that there should be at least an NPC to let us affected do something since this truly was an “act of nature/God” preventing many from joining in on the finally/getting an achievement. I’m not a coder but it doesn’t seem like it’d be hard to just add a different access point to an already created even. And it’s just good customer service
As with the Black Lion Chests… it’s a gamble, it’s a lottery it’s not a guaranteed “here is a decent or better/desirable item” I understand sometimes this stuff can be kinda disappointing but it’s random chance. Some people have good luck some have bad luck. They are in the Gem shop because people WILL pay for them rather than farm candy corn or buy them off the TP. I got 2 superior sigil recipes in two back to back bags while I was going for the achievement but someone I talked to didn’t get anything worthwhile from over 200 bags.
I do have to admit some bosses have a bit more health than seems necessary. I’d be fine with this if there weren’t occasions when the bosses could glitch out and think you pulled them too far or something and just go invincible while they regenerate 50% of their HP back after 5~20 minutes of fighting. Though I do like drawn out battles, I don’t like it when they are artificially drawn out due to bugs and glitches, especially since if one happens it usually starts the bosses off at “phase 1” if they have multiple “phases.” Granted if they didn’t glitch out I’d probably not have any problem with bosses having loads of health.
In the other thread about Norn animal forms people have been complaining about the lack of mobility and utility skills, I think that is where the major problem lies, we loose our mobility which is a huge part of the game and we loose our utility/healing skills causing us to be weaker in the long haul. If what you say is true about gaining stats, it doesn’t feel like we actually gain them and that’s a problem. The elite skills should be for those “oh kitten” moments where we need something to save ourselves. My Flesh Golem is much more effective than my animal forms since it has high constant damage output and can knockdown, and on top of that it’s cooldown is under a minute if I use traits. almost every profession has at least one Elite that outshines the Norn animal forms by leaps and bounds.
The way I see it any elite skill, not just Norn animal forms, should be strong/intimidating/useful… While animal form has the initial intimidation about it, Large bear-man running at you, It’s just not enough given the skill sets just don’t do enough damage to capitalize on any panic that an opponent has and on top of that intimidation only works in a PvP setting. Aside from traveling quickly with snow leopard the animal forms feel under powered and rather useless. They really feel like they where built for a different game considering how you have to stand still for everything they do and their effects are weird or seem out of place and sorta crowbared into the current system. Maybe they planed the Norn’s racial elites for the initial incarnation of GW2, scrapped the whole idea, then brought it back because they couldn’t think of anything better but decided to save time and almost copy/paste their finished work.
There is no chest… Only Zuhl!
But seriously, the broken chest bugs need to be fixed.
I sometimes hear another players character say something when I'm by myself.

It’s a bit weird when I play my male norn… and hear some weird male human lines. Sometimes it’s hilarious to hear “Kill them all!” or “It’s so cold…” or something else my Norn would say. Oh, can’t forget “FIRE BURNS!!!!!!!”
If this is truly the case it’s just another really stupid “bind on acquire” item. Similar to the craft-able “mystery potions” which aren’t expensive to make… but still would be nice to sell, even if only for a few copper or at least be able to give them to guild mates for fun.
I’ve had similar problems with rich ore veins not allowing me to mine more than the first 3. The veins would then turn into a “used” ore vein. I’ve had this problem with most “Rich” Mythril veins and some Rich iron and platinum veins though I haven’t tried a Rich Orichalcum vein yet. Also yes, they do have a once a day respawn per character, another thread one of the mods said the resource nodes respawn once a day at the server’s “new day” sort of thing. He said it generally happens around 4:00PM PST.
I’m a n00b when it comes to these forums so here’s what he said
“We made some changes to the respawn timers on the resource nodes so that they only respawn once per day. This happens based on our server time at 00:00 UTC, which is 5:00pm PDT and 4:00pm PST, not based on when you last harvested them, which may be why some of you think you are seeing varying respawn rates.” -Jason King via Rapid Response Embed

It could also be due to a bug with the sounds. Each race has their own thing to say when they gain a boon/buff (such as the sylvari’s “FOR GREAT JUSTICE!”) Maybe the Yarr! wants to play, but the boon sound over wrights it. I know this game is rather full of sound bugs.

I can say as a member of a faction that is currently dominating literally 100% of the map (give or take a few camps once in a while) it does kinda suck if you want to WvWvW. Yea the bonuses are great, but not really worth giving up the fun of WvWvW. I think the problem is inherent with the system, not in the way that has been brought up but in that the servers are no where near balanced properly yet and with new arrivals and the currently super easy server changing they probably won’t be for a year, maybe even more given the length of the matches. 24 servers, 1~2 week matches = 7~15 weeks for a full rotation(assuming every server faces every other server once which doesn’t seem to happen) that in and of itself is only a 2~4 months give or take some time but the fact is you can’t have a balanced out ranking ladder with just one rotation. My “examples” aren’t anywhere near perfect, but they get my point across. Under pretty much perfect circumstances we’d have a decent~good ranking for each server in about 6 months to a year given it’d be at least a few rounds.
Honestly, no I do not support a full reset due to the time I put into my characters, yes it’s only been a short period of time in the grand scheme of things but it’s still my time and a full reset would render that time wasted in a way I do not want it to be wasted (games are made to “waste” time but in an MMO “wasting time” generally gives you some form of progression)
To sway me towards a full reset? hmm… they’d probably have to refund me the money I spent on the game, and give me me about $100 in gems + a few bank/bag slots and 10 starting character slots instead of 5. Oh, and on top of that make the game not buggy as hell like it is right now and give us at least 1 GM per server at any given time to handle urgent matters. And for those who actually played over 100 hours of game play, how about at least something cosmetic to signify we put up with a completely bull crap reset.
I would also like it if you could sell/trade the tonics. Some of the “mystery tonics” can be crafted by Artificers relatively easily at 400 and I could see people jumping on them just to become a tree. Nah, but in all seriousness you should be able to sell tonics along with a whole lot of other things, but I won’t get into those now…
I think the point most people are trying to make in this thread is that Thief’s damage needs to be toned down due to it having the only true OHKO combo in the game at present time. Decent thieves also know how to get the jump an opponent without the stealth skill. There is terrain to hide behind, players in WvWvW can become tunnel visioned… and yes there are people who are willing to blow most of their utility skills to initiate an attack to secure a kill even if it is purely for the ego boost that a virtual game gives them.
I’ve been killed a bunch by thieves in WvWvW on my necro, the only option I have is to use my reaper’s mark(fear) and my chillblains(chill and poison) if I see them near me and pretty much park myself on it until my mark is triggered then either run away in death shroud or jump into a tower. If I’ve just come from a fight I’m screwed since my condition removal skills are probably on cool-down and my minion(s) are usually dead.
Another problem that hasn’t been brought up yet is how mobile thieves can be. They can easily out maneuver and out run any class right now. It makes it virtually impossible to kill or escape from a thief.
I do agree thieves should be very very bursty and have high damage, but in their current state it’s virtually impossible to counter them (mostly due to the perma-stealth bug). Basilisk venom being breakable by stun-breaks was a good start but more things need to be done performance wise(the whole engine is very taxing on CPU and even higher end PCs can get bad performance issues and the game overall feels poorly optimized).
I agree the chests aren’t worth it, but then again I didn’t think they would be. I just chalk it up to another game mimicking TF2’s “crate” system and failing at it.
I’ve had the same exact problem, mostly in underwater areas or with really large monsters, it may be some strange location detection bug. I know mobs can do the whole “I’m invincible and regenerating my health” thing under two conditions;
A: Too far from their spawn
B: They cannot fight against their opponent for whatever reason. (They can’t get to you and as such are invulnerable’d)
But in all the recent incidents of monsters going “Haha you can’t kill me” neither of those have been the case and it concerns me as I’ve died more than once because of it (other mobs agroing or it being a veteran mob) Mobs that behave in this manor also seem to have any timers they have refreshed such as skill usage/minion summoning.
I am disappointed at how short lived the drunk effects are in this game… If you find some strong stuff (yes the game does have different strengths in booze) and drink a lot of it you’ll still only get wiggly screen for about 10~20 seconds unless you keep drinking when it gets less wiggly. I’d LOVE if you could have your character drink too much and pass out for certain amount of time (based on race, drink strength, amount consumed, and time it was consumed in.) and wake up with the “Hangover” effect that some NPC enemies have in a few of the norn personal stories. Also, better drunk effects.
The reason that male Norn look much more disproportionate than female Norn is because… well think about it, the major demographic for almost any video/computer game is teen~30 year old male. Would you want to look at a chick who basically looked as feminine as Hulk Hogan in his prime? Go look at DDO and tell me why no one plays female dwarves.
Back on topic, norn are relatively proportionate when you make them as large as they can be which kind of hints to me that that’s how they are supposed to look and that to a norn a “small” norn would look funny and disproportional.
Yep, been saying this since beta. Glad to hear my fellow Norn are feeling the same way I do. As a large male Norn I can attest that the camera is our greatest enemy in any jumping puzzle, the second greatest enemy we have is not judging our jumps right. We just feel slower since we take 1 step to a Human’s 3(or an Asura’s 15) and as such we need to compensate without a movement speed boost. Yes, Sylvari and Asura are much easier to do jumping puzzles with due to better luck with a camera, but also due to an increased feeling of precision that isn’t there with Norn (even though we can be just as precise with our jumps.)
I do think some of the dances need to be changed/edited, not because they don’t fit or are goofy…. Because the animation quality of the dance isn’t up to where it should be. Human, Charr and Sylvari have relatively smooth animations, with Human seemingly being the most worked on. Norn and Asura need work, Norn’s looks rather sloppy and lazy whereas Asura look good, but it’s a little too choppy at some parts, I know it’s the robot but some parts don’t look like they are stalling, they look like the animation broke. For the most part the Asuran dance animation is nice, just needs some tweaking.
I made my Norn max height because I figured it’d look funny to be a big muscular necromancer dressed like Santa. Made a Norn because I like their culture. Also, they remind me of vikings :p
I only ever used Snow leopard due to the charge and stealth… but that wasn’t for combat, that was to get around faster. Combat yea, they all seem kinda crappy especially since they take away all your utility skills including signets and I don’t think they take into account the effect of traits, now if it was an “OMG nice new powers!” sorta thing and the new skills were good and they also gave you some utility skills or a bonus to stats based on the form, they’d be good for combat. But as it is they are pretty much just for skill completion.
I completely agree, the “res skills” should RESURRECT the person, not just help them up. The only time I’ve ever used a res skill was to get someone out of a mob of enemies in WvWvW or a dungeon, and even in those cases they usually end up going down again or just flat out dieing before I can get the animation off. Being limited to 3 people is fine as I’ll rarely find 3 downed/defeated players close enough for the radius to work.
I also agree with the numerical statistics on each increase from the traits/skills. I would also like it if there could be a chart somewhere of exactly how much space “600” or “900” and so-on of a measurement is considering we pretty much either just guess or judge it by ground target skills.
I also agree that warriors are a little too bursty with hundred blades, as it is they already have a lot going for them, High HP, Heavy Armor, and at least one skill that has ludecris amounts of damage compared to any other class. The game isn’t currently PvP only or PvE only it’s both, they are trying to do the impossible and balance for both at the same time. To balance for PvP and PvE they’d need to balance for PvP and then edit the PvE content around that balance which would make for a horrible game. They should go back to a split existence where being in PvP or PvE affects the effects of the skills that way they can balance around each individually. High end PvP and high end PvE doesn’t mean anything if in both of them you have people kittening and moaning about similar stuff. As a side note, WvWvW would need it’s own re-balanceing too for the people who care about that. Believe me, for every sPvP enthusiast there is a PvE enthusiast and there is a WvWvW enthusiast. Anet took on a big task that they are currently handling poorly, balancing three different game modes in one game.

It really seems sad that they are making so many mistakes considering this was one of the most anticipated games of the year, maybe even decade. It was supposed to be a leader in the way the “new MMO” would be. Honestly the game has so much potential and it’s being screwed up by what appears to be a very inexperienced Dev team. The real sad part is that the Dev team isn’t inexperienced, it’s not a first time try, and it’s not somethign they cranked out in a year or two. Anet, get your act together or you will loose a boat load of players. Almost every thread on the forums has someone either threatening to leave or claiming to be done with GW2.
Is it possible that they where a necromancer? If they where there is a trait that causes fear to those around them for a few seconds upon being downed/disabled and they have a fear when they are downed, there are also runes/sigils that can increase the duration of fear by a hefty amount. If everything lined up properly I wouldn’t say a 5~10 second fear is out of the question from a downed necro considering fear duration stacks. Also fear is still considered a condition from what I’ve noticed so any condition duration + would be a reasonable guess towards increasing fear time. There are also traits that cause Mark of the Reaper (fear mark) to be placed when a necro goes down, with greater marks that increases the size of the mark’s area and makes it unblockable adding to the time you’d be feared. With all this added up a 5~15 second fear is not unlikely for a single target.
I have to say I’ve got at least a decent computer by the current standards (should hope so, it’s not even a full year old) and it’s in pretty much the same shape as it was when I got it. It’s even got a few upgrades since then. With recent patches my load times almost everywhere have been going up, not by a lot but still they have been going up, probably about 30~40 seconds when it used to be about 10~30. Also I’ve started to get lag/fps problems in the past week or two when my settings haven’t changed since I started playing the game. Since so many people seem to be having similar problems I’m starting to think that it might be due to some poor optimization issues on Anet’s part.
Tonight was the first time I’ve encountered this, and it happened to me twice within about 10 minutes. Same problem, only exiting to desktop and relaunch stopped the sound.
It seems they may have fixed one thing , only to cause another. Sound bites don’t overlap for me like they used to but now I get a weird rhythmic “woah” sound that will not stop until I restart the client. It’s not my speakers or headphones and adjusting the audio quality and/or volume doesn’t effect the sound.
I have already messed with the quality quite a bit, changing it didn’t help, up or down, one notch or all the way. Sound volume change didn’t help either. I know I’m not the only one with this problem and not the only one who “changing the quality” doesn’t help as a few people during the Claw of Jormag event have also complained of the same issue. A few of my guild mates had the same problem as well. None of them had any luck with changing the audio quality.
As it is right now I get a bug where all other audio cuts out and I just get some weird rhythmic siren-like noise that is unaffected by sound levels nor quality settings. It sounds kind of like a “Wooooahm Wooooahm” sort of sound. It is not my speakers nor headphones and others have complained of it too. It only started up after the most recent build went live. The only way to stop the sound was to restart my GW2 client, after a few minutes the the problem just happened again. It really seems like this could be quite the problem if it’s not fixed.
Others have complained about their sound cutting out and it sounded like gunshots, garbled noises, or the audio simply becoming totally mixed.
I think instanced housing is fine, so long as it’s fully contestable and upgradeable.
Example: Instanced areas exist in all of the zones(some needing to be unlocked via personal story/world completion, such as orr) with a waypoint near them for fast traveling. You enter the instance and it’s basically your plot of land, you get to purchase and upgrade a house on that land, fully furnish it with random furnishings you can make(new craft carpenter?)/buy and grow a garden or something in your “yard,” for cosmetic purposes only. The ability to “dye” your house any of the dye colors you have(they’d act as paint) and just overall some really nice housing options, such as allowing people to view it while you’re not around or inviting your friends over for a party.
I think that’s more LoS and interference issues than hitbox.
[/quote]
The thing is I can visually see a projectile hitting a pot of oil and it says obstructed. Also with the treb thing, I meant I can’t even target the top half of it sticking up 20 feet above a wall when I think I should be allowed to.
I agree there needs to be a decent player search in this game. I’ll take an example from Final Fantasy XI, there is a /sea or /search command that allows you to search for players in your area or /sea all or /search all for all areas. There is also a way to narrow your search to a specific area, profession, level range, race, name etc.
As an example: I’m looking for a Guardian for my group to do Arah I could go to the search function and input “Guardian” “level 80~80” as the range and search for a level 80 Guardian.
Another thing FFXI had was a search comment. Whenever someone searched and saw your name they’d also see a comment on what you where looking for (kind of like a specific LFG kinda thing)
Example using parameters from above example: I search for players who want to do Dungeons and see there is a Lvl 80 Guardian who’s comment says something along the lines of “LFG Arah Exp” or “LFG Arah Story” and then I can /w him and ask him to join us on our merry way to slay some undead.
The search comment feature mixed with the search command allows for people to put themselves out there in a way that doesn’t involve shouting around in cities for groups. It also bring about another idea from FFXI, /annon which hides your level, profession, and race from the /sea and if you are examined/inspected. Or the option to go invisible from the search results.
I’d also like to see a few more emotes such as a /joy, /stumble, /shy, /confused, /stagger, etc.
