Thanks for the suggestion but I already set all my game executables to “run as administrator” by default for all my games. Been doing it for years. Its the only way for some games to work with some systems. Thanks for trying though. (but I did go ahead and try your suggestion, unfortunatly it didn’t work.)
I had already tried that of course, did not work. Even tried XP, didn’t work either of course. I am in Windows 7 virtually all the time anyhow. I rarely play games on the Win 8 Enterprise Edition. It has worked perfect for months. I have 6 toons. 2 80’s, a 63 and 3 30’s so it has worked fine for some time. Until the last patch. Now none of my toons can sell on the trading post. I might mention I’ve played GW2 since beta. It was my 45th beta. I’ve been playing online games since 94. I normally can figure this stuff out, but this one has me stumped.

I can buy on the trading post and search just fine. But I cannot sell on any of my 6 characters. It started this with the last patch. I dual boot into my main OS Windows 7 64 bit and sometimes into Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit. So I have tried all of the following on both OS with no success.
A) deleting the local.dat file
B) creating a new desktop shortcut with the -repair extension
C) starting the game, clicking on a character, go to trading post and stand in front of a npc , open my inventory and right click sell at at trading post.
D) multiple restarts of system and restarts of game client
E) changing characters
F) I even tried to redownload the game to reinstall (that of course did not work but I did try.
I have searched the forums and the web and other game sites with no luck. I am left with a unusable game as being able to sell items is my only real means of getting sufficient money to purchase gear upgrades. What am I suppose to do now?
If you notice from my original post I suggested they make sure the flash drive is Readyboost Certified. As most of them will not run Readyboost or run it poorly. The system will not even allow most flash drives to be used as Readyboost. It will tell the clien the drive is not Readyboost capable. I would also like to comment in MY opinion it is not worth arguing over or buying unless you have a non gaming, underpowered system in which case it will help. But for $10, if you want to take a chance, why not? It’s $10.
I do know what it is and what it does. And yes will have SOME effect with most all systems. If you run a SSD like i do, you cannot run Readyboost. The system will not allow it and turns it off by default. I would agree MS support is pretty much useless. Script driven ppl who have little tech background. And I don’t turn off Superfetch or Prefetch as I personally do feel they have some improvement on my system. Things with SSD drives have changed a huge amount in the last 5 years of what with will or won’t do or what does or doesn’t work with them. In fact most SSD manufacturers tell you not to turn off these features or even cache. I leave cache on as well and even with extensive testing find no degradation of my drive. I use SATA II drives for less important files, pics, movies and games I don’t play much. I also tri boot Win 8 Enterprise, and Ubuntu linux.
My overall performance rating is 7.5 with my HDD at 7.9. And believe me I take a lot of reviews and opinions as just that, their opinion.

as usual, people who have no idea what readyboost does are posting.
Readyboost is a session built FILE CACHE, it hasn’t got much to do with ram at all, but rather reducing the delays that mechanical hdd’s have with reading tiny files sequentially.
It doesn’t help bootup’s much at all, because it is rebuilt every startup and only caches files up to 4k in size.
Software like eboostr is better because the cache can be made permanent and improves boot and login times , eboostr works well with super fetch as well, as files hit often by superfetch are most likely to exist in the eboostr cache, and eboostr (and stuff like Corsairs SSD filter) can be used to precache stuff with an SSD, unlike ReadyBoost.
Iyeru.5240:
Readyboost can’t improve load times. Only the harddrive the OS is on and the physical RAM. Since Readyboost is still limited by the main HDD speed.
^only person in the thread who knows whats what!.
And indeed, readyboost is useless for startups and boot improvements because as i said, it is invalidated at every start, unlike eboostr which is permanent (choosing instead to encrypt the cached data)

OK, hmm. Well I started in computers in 1971 with a IBM 300 series mainframe. I was comm tech cryptic code with computers in Nam for the Military. ( and on the original internet, called ARPANET) I have a degree in computer science. 3 in programming (COBOL, FORTRAN & BASIC). Owned a ISP for 8 yrs in 6 cities in central Indiana and did all the lead tech work and maintained servers, routers, dslam’s, etc (dialup & DSL). Been a Microsoft dev since 1995. I’ve built over 5000 sytems in my life (SUN servers and PC’s) Including 1 for NASA and 1 for the ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION. Now what have you done? Yes it does effect load times and yes it does effect 4k files. You should try google before you accuse ppl of not knowing what they are talking about. Here 2 of MANY articles about readyboost. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2160&page=5 and the other http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost. You are more than welcome to your opinion about what it does or does not do. Is Readyboost a big deal? No. Does it make a huge difference? No. Does it help low ram system? Yes. Most gaming systems don’t really see a improvement, especially if you use a SSD drive like myself and many others do now. But please don’t even try to tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. I have well over 40 yrs of experience, not just books.
No. It will improve systems with low ram. It does improve load times on browsers and smaller programs. Not designed for large files like graphics or texture files. I have not been able to show any improvement on games. I have 16gb of ram and it turns it off automatically telling me it is no longer needed. For those with 4gb or less, I’d say sure buy a flash drive (make sure it is readyboost certified, it will say so on the pack). They are cheap and even a little help is better than none, lol.
Just wanted to say Kudos to you Gaile on this reporting idea. This is a great idea to help to identity the problem areas and help the team focus on the areas that have the worst problem. Good work. I may berate when it’s due but I also praise when it’s deserved.
OK I have been silent long enough. I have over 40 yrs in the computer industry. I’m a retired/disabled network engineer. And a list of qualifications a page long. Point is. YES THEY CAN REMOVE IT. And yes Gaile did say if you sent a email to support it WOULD be removed. In fact it was said that in the near future they would be making the ability available to US, the customers. Time for IT to step up please. Thank you.
Gaile, If I might make a suggestion. The vast majority of the people who buy “game credits/gold” have no idea what they are doing. They do it for instant gratification and because they “want to”. Little do they realize they are funding a multi-billion dollar industry. Much of it laden with slavery (literally, not just a statement), child labor or worse. It destroys the economy of the very game they are trying to play. Funny thing is I have yet to see a single game make a front page post on their website (that is permenant) explaining in detail just what is involved in the RMT (gold selling) business. Maybe then these people would understand how RMT destroys not only games but peoples lives. Literally. I realize it still wouldn’t stop some people but it might stop some. You are always going to have some people with no morals, it’s just the way of the world. But it might help inform some of how it works. Some of the biggest RMT companies in China are owned my Norinco, who is China’s biggest military owned company. Many countries including Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and even Mexico have gotten into the RMT business in the last few years. Many do not realize most of the RMT sellers are not just some college kid trying to make money, they are full blown criminal organizations that are making hundreds of millions per company a year. Every person who contributes, who buy “game gold” are indeed funding these criminals. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Without buyers these companies would not exist. Even you do not do a front page post, at least do a “sticky” here for the people who come to the forums to read. Some will learn and listen. Some will not. Well that’s my 2 cents.
Had to be the worst event in my gaming history of 16 yrs and 45 games. Had to the potential to be really great, but was so poorly executed it was insane. I hope to god they never, ever do another POS like this. This will go down in gaming annals as one of the worst events ever. And the rest of you, here is a rag, wipe your nose off.
I’ve had a strange problem with TP since day 1. I only get money for some of the items I sell and sometimes if I leave the money on the TP and get up the next day there is zero money. I do not make buy orders and rarely leave anything up for sale, so the TP que getting full is not my problem. Example. Yesterday I played for 10 hours. I sold tons of items to high buyers all day long. Should have had well over a gold in money to pick up. BUT at the end of the night I had 14 silver and a few copper. This has gone on for a long time. I can’t even imagine how much money I have lost. File a ticket? uh why? They will not replace the money. They will say thank you for reporting it, goodbye. lol.
I dual boot Windows 8 64bit Enterprise and Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Not one single FPS difference between the two. So I also vote for a changed setting somewhere. And I’ve done extensive testing expressly for the purpose of seeing if there is any FPS diff.
The “free trial” does not START till the 15th. So the serial code will not be good until then. And it ends on the 18th and it will not be good after that. So patience is prudent.
Massive FPS-Problems since the Patch (seemingly worldwide?)

Same problem. I was getting 45-60+ FPS pre Holiday patch. Now after supposedly “returning game to normal” I’m getting 30-45. Hmm, not good. Might mention I’m on Windows 7 64 bit and have also tested this on a Windows 8 system and it has the same 15+ FPS drop as well. I’m a 59 yr old retired network engineer and my “younger” (lol) brother’s system also has a 15+ drop and he’s on a different ISP, totally different computer system (i7 vs my AMD cpu) (nvidia graphics card vs my AMD card). So it is not a ISP problem, a hardware problem or a driver problem. I would with 100% certainty put it as a coding problem without any doubt at this point. Not trying to point fingers just stating the obvious. I love the game but please try to get this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks!
Same here. After dying twice another player came along and we died together. Finally 2 more came and the 4 of us fought her and finally killed her. But all of us just barely made it. I was down twice and the others went down at least once. Yeah I’m gonna say major bug here.
I have a idea. How about banning names like " fEDIevmOle" or “FLFLFllsld”. That would knock out about 90% of the gold farmers. Hmmmm Oh yeah in case ya didn’t notice, gold farmers now have freakin guilds.
Yep, I second that. I two “glove” icons as well.
Hmm not sure what any of you mean. My Ranger (50) has his back armor and had it for some time. My Guardian (50) has had his back armor for some time. My Thief (50) has had his back armor for some time. And of course my engineer (20) has his back armor BUT it won’t let me put anything in the “unused” slot yet. Pretty sure it was level 30 before it will let you. I also have a Necromancer (28) who does not have his back armor yet and a Warrior (20) who also does not have his back armor. So yes you get it wayyyy before 80 and not for 5 gold. My engineer got his free of course. The 3 50’s got theirs as a reward around level 30 or so. Hope that helps you. Good luck.
Thanks for the help peeps. Yes it is the AOE indicator. Hmm now here’s a idea. They might actually want to explain this SOMEWHERE, in the manual, on their website, on the WIKI, anywhere just so everyone knows. I appreciate everyone’s help in finding out what this was.
Add me to that list as well. It’s really getting to be annoying. Especially when it’s a Veteran or Champion that I have managed after some time to beat it down to 5% of its health, I’m at 5% of my health it runs over and heals to full. Then comes back and kills me. Makes me want to choke someone. Oh and BTW, the other one I hate is when there is ONE enemy ( of whatever kind) and I attack and kill it. Then while I’m still “in combat” so my health is not regenerating, TWO instantly spawn. I kill them and THREE instantly spawn. Then FOUR spawn. I have actually made it to FIVE before being killed. I would like to thank the idiot that thought that was a good game mechanic to make.
Hmm good answers. I’ll check both of those as I level tonight. Thnx.
OK this is my last resort. I have spent hours searching the web, the GW2 website/wiki and other resources (ie: game websites, manuals, guides, reviews, etc). I have asked a hundred players over the last month or more and no one, but no one knows. On my skill bar on the bottom of each skill box sometimes I get a red dot that has a X in it. Sometimes it is on 1 skill and sometimes all of them. I have no idea what it means or what it does. LOL, now it is driving me nuts. What in the frak is that red dot with the X? What does it do or mean if anything? Its not always there. It comes and goes. It happens as far as I can tell on all 6 of my different class characters. So OK I am totally confused at this point. HELP!!!
I have problems with auto attack as well and I have 6 toons with different classes and different weapons so that is not the problem. Mine works sometimes and does not work sometimes. Sometimes I have to manually hit them over and over. And sometimes after using the “higher” weapon command it does not continue to hit with the number 1 skill. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. Very sporadic and not reliable at all.
I gave up on crafting on all 6 of my characters. It is a time/money/grinding sink that offers very, very, very little in return. Just not worth it. I always craft in games. Been doing it for 15 years. But not in GW2, it is just not worth it. I can buy food, armor, etc for less than crafting overall. You may not have to grind in the game to level or play BUT you have to grind your backside off to craft. I’m sorry that is insane. Sigh I wish it was otherwise but it isn’t.
Nope still broken. Stayed about 15 minutes this time to see if it would “unbug”. No such luck. Saw 3 other people try and fail too. The bug must come and go. Unfortunately I have not been lucky enough to catch one of the working times. LOL
The skill point giver Shaman Purda at Charrgate Haven in Diessa Plateau won’t start or respond. I have watched 7-8 people in the last 5 minutes try to no avail. I tried quitting the game and restarting but did not work. It was working yesterday before the patch late yesterday. I was too low a level then to try, now I’m the appropriate level and it doesn’t work, lol. Any solutions?
Was working fine for me, no problems till patch late yesterday. Now every time I sell or buy or search a item I have to close then reopen the trading post to use it. It will not respond after i do anything in it after one time. Lol, nice patch, it “fixed” a working Trading Post. How about a roll back there guys?
