I’m just going to spend all day tomorrow running this dang dungeon, after all this encouragement of exotics/skin drops.
I’ve come to peace with the idea, they are just skins. And if I really, really want it bad enough, I could be saving up the stuff to craft it. What is waiting 3 months and earning something I want that bad? Sure, I considered just buying gold on the net, I really did. But I then decided I would never stoop that low and risk my account too. So many people want the immediate, and yeah, it sucks that some people get all the luck, but such is life. Even if that life is a game.
I’ll get that greatsaw yet. Even if I have to do it the hard way.
WTF? I spend $20 on BLC keys, get jack. Run MK at least 20 times, and get jack.. One lousy rare worth 52silver. (Not REALLY complaining) Some guys/gals have all the luck. Congrats. I’ll just stick with my blues thank you very much. =)
I don’t understand the complaining about this. Wait and see what the event is/was. What if Lions Arch is completely changed. How could you not have it a one time event, if that is the case? Anything that changes the world for all and permanently, has to be a one time deal. At least that’s my speculation as to what is going to happen.
The first ghost will not show up for me. Followed all the guides and had plenty of candy, the machine will not summon her for some reason. I notice there was a bug, that anet claimed to have fixed, yet, no first ghost for me. =(
Shhhhhhsh! I want to see the value of the candy corn in 6 months, but it won’t go up if everyone hordes it.
Having a gotten full armor, the greatsword and longbow in AC, I could not understand people complaining about the dungeons. For the most part it was enjoyable, challenging, but not frustrating. Having moved on to CoF, I again felt the same way. Then, I tried CM and TA, and wow, what a terrible experience. Both have been a complete “cheese” fest, and have been nothing but frustrating. If anet is designing the dungeons to be so difficult or boring, that every opportunity to skip content is being used, that is a poor design flaw.
I had no problems with either AC or CoF as far as completely skipping content, and using every available trick to get through the dungeon (ok, Magg sucks and especially the part where he arms the explosives, and that turns into a cheese fest, but overall it is not like CM or TA.) I literally had zero fun doing them. So my advice to those complaining about dungeons, stick with AC or CoF (maybe CoE, HoTW or Arah, I haven’t done the explorable modes there yet). I sincerely hope that the dungeons are fixed, so that cheesing is not the only available option. I want to be able to complete, without feeling like I would rather stick forks directly into my eyeballs.
Still love the game, but I will be extremely cautious about which dungeons I am trying to do.
This works in reverse too. (Not the naked part) but an almost ludicrous amount of newer dungeon runners not listening and kittening it all up, causing a wipe. I’ve mostly run AC, have all the armor and greatsword, I don’t know how many runs that would equal, but the point is I’m brandishing the sword even if the don’t see the armor.
I try not to be bossy with newer runners and generally try and let them figure it out, yet I give tips about what’s next and how most people do it. It pisses me off to no end though, when I say to absolutely do something or don’t do something, and someone does the opposite thinking they know better.
Case in point, a recent pug group and I mass it to the cannon repairs with Detha (path 2). The first two cannons got repaired, Detha died before reaching the 3rd and so did we, leaving 3 trash mob dudes. We get back and they want to rez Detha, so she can repair the cannon and we can kite the ghosts. I said no, we must kill them or another mob will spawn and it will become significantly harder. They say no, no, we can just kite them and she’ll repair. Long story short, I was right and it became impossible for our group. Full wipe before the easiest boss.
So don’t be a jerk and not listen, the same as being an elitist.
LOL, I know, I know. I opened myself up for admitting that I will play earlier, but seriously. How come ALL the wipes I have had are before this time, and I have NEVER wiped later? I have run AC enough to know how to do it properly, efficiently and be kick kitten at it. With a good group.
Heck during the day, I have run into people who have never done it, and simply will not listen to how to do it and I don’t think I am an overbearing “general” jerk type. Just tell them how to do it, which should be obvious I know how, since I am sporting the greatsword (yes I am sadly a warrior), the helmet, shoulders and boots.
I’m just sticking with getting 100% on my map during the day….. Eff the PUG groups during that time.
Edit:
I am not claiming to be some fantastic player, I consider myself just very average at this, it is just that the really good players/leaders come out after dark and that the really terrible, selfish and unskilled players are out during the day. It is just something weird that I have noticed.

Just an interesting observation, I have noticed that before 6pm central time (obviously my time) the PUGs I have been involved in all suck. All my wipes have occurred before this “magic” time and it is the time when it seems like I come across a lot of level 80’s that are glass cannons and/or don’t know how to heal others. It is a strange thing, but I get nothing but frustration running dungeons with PUGs before 6. After 6, it is like a magic bell is wrong and all the really good players show up. I have never had a wipe after this time.
That is not to say that everyone playing in the day sucks, it is just more noticeable, and sucks might not be the right word. Maybe it is just the combinations, but it seems like all I can attract during the day are thieves, low level warriors and ele’s that don’t heal the group.
So my advice to those complaining about dungeon difficulty, if you are a serious player? Maybe wait until the evening, if you are a day player, for dungeons.
Anyone notice any other oddities like this? Any time I see 2 thieves or rangers in the PUG group, I know it is not going to end well.
Just tone down the prices a little, that would be nice.
I assume if he had just left the party first and then we re-invited him, it would have worked out. I think he might have been the party leader, but I am not sure. I effin told him not to do it, and boom, kicked from the dungeon because he switched characters. FRUSTRATING.
You will have the entire dungeon reset and kitten everyone out of their tokens. Just to try and get xp on your lower level alt. This is especially a kitten move right before the end boss. I would have reported that dude, but everyone is entitled to a mess up. But yeah, DON’T BE THAT PERSON.
Besides the up leveling, I completely support this. Make it so that we have to do events in the “lesser” levels (of which those currently in the ’70s could help out with), just to retake Cursed Shore. It would make all the fights seem like they are accomplishing something, even if it is just window dressing.
Also, please, please, fix the waypoints on Cursed Shore.
Back and forth we go. People complaining dungeons are too hard or not hard enough. In my experience, it completely depends on your group, especially with pick up groups. I’ve ran AC explorable 3 times, and only completed it twice. All three times it was option 2 (Ghost Eater I believe it is called) and the one time I did not complete it was because the party did not mesh well together, and we could not complete the super easy part of the traps. Yet, the 2 times I got through this mode, we skated through the traps. Seemed almost too easy. So, my point is, if the dungeon is too hard, try it with another group.
I’ve got no answers as to how to make them more fun. I cannot envision myself spending years trying to get pick up groups to get tokens, of which I will collect all within a matter of a couple of months anyway (even at my slow pace). Make the bosses better and less cheap would be a start, I guess.
Please just get rid of certain enemies being able to regen health, or at least in missions with friendly NPC’s, allow them to rez themselves. Killing Zhaitan’s mouth was a half hour of pure hell, hiding behind a pillar and slowly taking down his health as my “friendly” npcs laid there, in no wag could I rez them without getting destroyed.
Now I’m completely stuck on the Ossuary mission. Get to the “basement” and the mob wave completely destroys my npcs. Which is fine, as I can kite the mob out, a little at a time, afterwards. But whatever that boss’s name is (like a risen skeleton king), he is way to powerful and fast. I tried kiting and he closed the distance faster then I can move, and he seems immune to stunning. He wipes me, goes full health and is making itkittennear impossible. I don’t know anyone who plays this game and I don’t know if a random will help me. Without standing there and begging for hours…
So yeah, mostly not to hard, but some of the missions are a test of my will and emotions.
I’ve only got a level 72 toon and yet my kids get fed, I go to work and the chores get done. Thanks for making me feel like a real loser in both real life (maybe I game too much) and in the game. (I haven’t reached 80 yet.)
Not a big fan either… but maybe it just takes practice?
get to 40, and do Caudacus Manor (spelling) over and over. You get tons of XP and it is easy.
I am getting increasingly frustrated by absurd respawn rates that make lots of events undoable alone or with only two people (and those are not [group event]s, mind you). I’m pretty sure the game was supposed to be playable alone (except for dungeons and group events of course), but often the mobs respawn after 30 seconds or less, making clearing a cave or something alone impossible – especially for classes that need a little more room to avoid being hit: how are you supposed to do that when you can’t move a metre without pulling the people you just killed a minute ago?
I understand that the respawn rates need to be high when a lot of people are there, but why does that have to be when I’m the only one there? If the respawn rate can be increased to accomodate a lot of people in the area, why can’t it be decreased?
I’ve noticed this in dredge areas especially. They seem to respawn WAY to fast, to the point it can be hard to even make any progress, because you end up fighting the same mobs. This seems to happen to me when I clear them out, to take on a veteran, and they all respawn in the middle of the fight and then things get a little hairy and frustrating.
