Gaming Mouse for GW2

I use the Steelseries WoW Cataclysm edition mouse.

God that feel wrong to say :p

Anyway, personally I can use any mouse with a thumb and pinky pad. G600 just wouldnt do.

If I where looking at a new mouse today, I’d look at the Logitech G500S or the Saitek RAT7. I’ve had a QPAD 5K and was not impressed. I had a Razer Deathadder as well, but the form doesnt suit me. And of course I’ve had 4 or something variants of the Logitech MX518 lol (and later a G5). kitten I go through many mice

That was actually a really good mouse… except it was big. Like 1980’s Buick big. I’m using the Naga Hex which is pretty awesome.

I left WoW because of the favoritism of the Horde and the story was so Horde focused over the Alliance (unless you bought the books that tell a story that doesn’t even show up in the game). I really don’t wanna see the favoritism here. I’m voting Kiel!

You cannot be serious? In Vanilla, Crusade and Wrath the entire story and zone layout favored the allies. In Crusade the allies ended up saving the BLood Elves, in Wrath the Horde was like the annoying little brother that was allowed to hang out. It wasn’t until Cataclysm that things were evened out. Granted the horde ended up with the two greatest zones in the history of history (Hillsbrad and Silverpine). Pandaria seemed pretty even in the sense that the Horde finally gets a villain that is “theirs”…

Personally I’m voting for the human because I still hold a grudge against the Charr for that little Ascalon thing they did 200 years ago.

Character and NPC Texture loss

in Account & Technical Support

I need some help to resolve the quality loss in character textures I’ve recently experienced. I didn’t make any settings changes to GW2 or AMD and I have experienced a fairly significant drop in quality.

I’ve re-installed GW2 with no change.

I followed the advice in this thread to no avail.

It seems I have the most up to date drivers, but here’s my Catalyst output information.
I have tried both enabling and disabling Crossfire.

The two attached screens illustrate the difference. Also of note: the texture loss has not increased or decreased performance.

I’m fairly dumb, so talk like I’m six.

Thanks for any help you may provide.

OVERVIEW:
Region — North America ( EST & CST )
Server — Ferguson’s Crossing (NA)
Prime Time — 8:00pm – 12:00am EST/EDT
VoIP — Ventrilo
Age — Minimum 25+
Website — oldtimersguild.enjin.com

ABOUT US:
We’re immigrants from Azeroth who had a pretty good guild environment there. It was based around the fact that we’re not kids anymore. Thus the Pub Knights are going to build the same dynamic, for people who aren’t kids anymore to join up and enjoy Tyria. We dabble in whatever takes our fancy, however as the guild grows Dungeon Running and WvW would be our major guild focus. The true draw of this guild is the people, we’ve historically we’ve been able to pull together a diverse group of crazies.

Ideally, we will accomplish the same here. Fun Fact: It is rumoured that many members of the guild still believe the Postal Service is required!

We aren’t a guild that will be speed running content, or mass assaulting the WvW environment anytime soon.

RULES:

We don’t have a lot of rules. However, there are some things you need to know if you don’t already:

1. Age 25 and over, no exceptions. Yes this is arbitrary, and we know there are good, mature players younger than 25. We want older players to have reasonable assurance that they will fit in. Plus if you can’t go to a pub, how can you be a Pub Knight? That said, we won’t ask for you to actually prove this… if you’re smart enough to fool us, then good for you.

2. Respect is the name of the game in Old Timers, and we really believe in it. We don’t care how you play, what you play, when you play, or how social you are. In turn, you are expected to show that same respect toward your fellow guild members. Political correctness is not a requirement so long as you are being respectful.

3. Act like an adult. We strive for a positive guild environment free from drama, rudeness, and abuse of the English language. We will treat you like an adult and all we ask in return is that you act like one.

4. You can find help but not hand holding. We are new player friendly! We don’t mind answering your questions and setting you on the right path. We won’t carry you, but you’ll have plenty of support.

5. We don’t have an attendance policy but it is assumed that since you requested an invite you would occasionally join us. Unless given prior notice all inactive players after a month (30 days) will be removed from the guild. There is an Akitten thread in the Members Only section of the forums for those who expect to be gone for an extended period of time.

DRAMA:

This subject is so important that we want to address it specifically. In many ways, a guild is a microcosm of real life. In real life, we all deal with conflict every day In a guild you will have to deal with conflict. How you deal with conflict is a good measure of your maturity. In PK, we don’t care much about conflict. When two or more adults have a disagreement they settle their differences amicably and move along. When one or more people are too immature to handle their conflict like adults, they sometimes attempt to involve all their peers, through guild chat, whispers, and the guild forums. This is drama, and drama will not be tolerated in any of its many forms. If you cause drama in this guild, you will not be around long.

We realize people make mistakes. You won’t be kicked for having a bad day. However, we just won’t tolerate people who go out of their way to make other players miserable.

This entire post is just trying to make fun of the 1c thread.

The 1c thread makes fun of itself.

Threads like the 1c thread seem to be a side effect of the market system we are using. Eve Online uses the same system, and that had plenty of people complaining about the 0.01ISK undercutting. Guess what the smallest increment of the currency in Eve is.

Well the nice thing about EVE is if I see you doing it and if it has a negative effect on my business I can outright attack you. Even if all I can do is suicide gank, the option is still there.

“Gentelemen’s agreement” = monopoly trust.

The TP is PvP. Asking this is like asking the other side in WvW to go easy on you.

As far as I’m concerned, you guys are my competitors. My allies are farmers, crafters, and consumers. I will gladly screw my fellow traders to the benefit of those who do not play the TP.

This is why we also need a more direct market… So I can buy from this guy.

Why is GWSpidy not considered a bot?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Hendo.4671

Hendo.4671

Yes, but as another poster pointed out in this thread:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Why-would-a-gold-seller-even-farm-mobs

that data could be used to feed bot programs that actually do post buy and sell orders, and that IS a problem.

Unfortunately, I don’t see what can be done, since TP is based on web server technology, and thus there is no foolproof way to prevent crawling.

There is certainly some merit to this statement. I think it boils down to how quickly Spidy is updated. The TP market is big and fast enough that Spidy may not be effective as a decision tool. Sure it shows trends, but if you’re always an hour behind your risk is going to escalate quickly.

Traditional Bots are safer is my thinking.

good business for the individual does not equal good business for the world. Uncontrolled speculation can cause a lot of problems in an economy as a whole.

However the speculation doesn’t seem to be uncontrolled, most items I’ve looked at seem to be fairly smooth in demand curves. The volatility comes when either supply or demand spikes. The market then seems to reset itself, to me this shows a market that is pretty fair.

Why is selling a Legendary on the TP ok?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Hendo.4671

Hendo.4671

I think it all boils down to jealousy. The person will be eternally jealous of your Ferrari until they can afford to get their own.

I think there is some truth to that, however I’m not sure the wording is correct. I feel a perception ( incorrect to be sure) of unfairness is more accurate. I don’t think it’s quite the same thing.

It’s because it is directly contrary to the point of legendary weapons. All that crap the devs said about respecting someone with a legendary is pointless. There is no way in PvE to distinguish yourself from an 15 year old with an insane allowance that buys a legendary from a GS. They should’ve been Account Bound from the start.

It’s not jealousy for me. It’s the fact that it undermines the whole process.

It does not undermine anything. To my understanding if you put in enough time you will 100% eventually get a legendary, every item is farmable. What Anet has done is allow people to grind for a Legendary in multiple ways by taking into account that not every has the time to gain access.

The amount of “grind” people would need to outright purchase a legendary is staggering. The number of people who could purchase without a second thought is so small they’re not even worth considering as a problem.

My God, if someone showed me that they earned enough money to purchase a legendary ( and not cripple their finances in the process) that person has far more respect from me that the guy who crafts it.

Precursor Manipulation

Hendo.4671

It’s been quite obvious that this is happening for a while now. And it’s not just precursors, there is quite a bit of it in minipets as well. A guildmate noticed a few weeks ago that some corrupted weapon prices had mysteriously shot up by over 20g, while the cost of the lodestones/precursor weapons had not changed. I believe prices have restabilizd since, but we assumed some market manipulation was invovled in the price jump.

The market setup in GW2 just makes it way too easy for a single person to control 100% of the supply of a rare item. With a few clicks, every available item is now yours. And any new listings put up are most likely going to match your price or undercut it by a tiny amount in order to be listed first.

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/14923 — Corrupted Avenger.
There was in fact 2 spikes that I can see. If one looks at the curve as a whole however, it is remarkably smooth. That tells me that while it is possible to take advantage of short term supply issues to take advantage of impulse buyers, the price will rapidly drop to it’s expected level.

I find it interesting that there is some significant downward pressure on this item now.

Taking advantage of lowered supply to buy low and sell high is not manipulation. It’s smart business, no player has a monopoly on information or supply. Since no player can control supply, the price will approach the market value again.

It cheapens the accomplishment of crafting a legendary if someone with a lot of disposable real-life money can just buy gems, convert them, and buy the Legendary. Why would I want to spend all that time and effort to craft a Legendary?

From the day the first one appeared on the TP, I stopped wanting a Legendary. I won’t make one now, because anyone can just buy one with real money. Lame.

How does someone else buying a legendary lessen your accomplishment is crafting one? If I buy a Ferrari with money I earn through work and you win the lottery to buy a Ferrari does that decrease my accomplishment?

It does nothing of the sort, the accomplishment that you gain is exactly the same. How someone else achieves something has zero effect on your achievement.

Your complaint isn’t about accomplishment at all, it’s about being annoyed that someone else can get a legendary faster than you without grinding in game. Even if they choose to grind something else in real life

The current rate is 1.25 USD for 100 Gems… So for Sunrise currently I would have to shell out at least $2800.

Frankly if someone wants to hand over that kind of scratch for a weapon skin I say power to them. I think they’re a little crazy

1c undercutting is destroying competition

Because I’m trying to prove a point.

Fine then, what would you tell someone the price of a TV priced at $199.99 was?

It’s $200.00. But if you advertise it as $200, and I advertise at $199.99 you will go out of business. Even without undercutting I always take advantage of this when pricing in these tools.

Perception is a very powerful thing.

The 1c undercutting allows prices to reach their “natural” point over time without causing a ship from heaven market crash.

Exclusive Market Based Guild

Hendo.4671

As most of the traders and wealthy players know a lot of information is not made public until the group of players who found out about it have already taken full advantage of it.

All market information is available to all players at the same time. There is a big difference between insider trading and agile trading. Even when allowing for economics of scale. The economy is still relatively new, and each event brings massive shocks to the market.

I am suggesting a guild of traders who share exclusive information only within the group, and work together to achieve collective goals.

The above point aside, this is a very interesting goal. I would actually suggest something slightly different. As someone indicated above if you have the chops why not create a mutual fund of sorts ( I believe Hedge fund was used)?
A select group of people managing funds from the community to create income via economics of scale?

I’m almost tempted to fire up excel to figure out margins on how to make this work…

There is perfect balance in 0.0. If you’re smart you live, if you’re smart and agressive you win. If you’re dumb you die.

Is it still "cosmetic"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hendo.4671

Hendo.4671

Wrong, people that have 1000 gold bought with $ are better than the normal player, because they can afford pretty much anything a normal player needs but can’t.

This statement depends on your definition of “need” and “P2W”. It probably also depends on your definition of “can’t” as well as “normal”.

I would suggest that this entire debate boils down to that.

GW2 defines P2W as a system where you can buy something for cash that provides a gameplay boost that cannot be obtained through gameplay alone. All Stop.

In their eyes the time required is irrelevant.

I tend to agree with their definition, I do think the gem prices could stand to drop a bit though.

Some people say that a game is P2W if the cash shop provides anything other than pure cosmetic items.

For a true normal, we would need to know how many hours a week the average player commits. How much gold they bring in, etc.

It is entirely possible, that your definition of normal may in fact be a very exceptional player.
