I don’t understand the hoopla.

I deleted a pair of 30ish alts so I could focus on gearing my most developed toon.
I generally have just enough play time per day to complete my daily, and make some progress towards my monthly.

Joining an uber guild isnt really fair to the other members, so the kitten laurel path is my only option to finishing my ascended set.

Yes, BiS is important to my fun, as I fully expect (and demand honestly, after all this effort) that agony spreads out to more portions of the game.

I still have interest in a tengu alt if that ever happens, so I will probably end up, retiring my current toon in favor of gearing that new one when the time comes.

I deleted my alts today.

I just want to share that the current state of the game highly discourages alt play, as I currently estimate it will take the better half of 2013 to finish gearing my main.

I don’t play enough to warrant joining a large guild, so the only path to much of the ascended gear is via the laurel system (why should I benefit from the work of people who play daily several hours when I only play guildwars at most an hour a day?).

Even if I could find time to level my alts (when I log in, I end up using all my time on daily and monthly activity) once they are max level, it would take another half a year to gear them.

Just wanted to get that off my chest, thanks.

Game feels incredibly anti-melee.

As a melee Mesmer player, my opinion is that melee is 100% viable.

However ranged is easier in practially every situation melee is possible, and there are situations where melee is NOT possible.

Arena.net needs to do some work on making more fights where ranged is punsished severely for kiting and missing dodges.

Guys sorry to burst your bubble but I don’t use shattered strength, and I usually keep 9-12 stacks of might up all times.

It’s not overpowered at all.

Good lord, you people are hard to please. Accept the buff graciously.
(though I do expect it to be changed to one application per shatter ability not per illusion shattered).

It’s definately a targeting issue.

The farther away a iBerzeker starts its spin, the more likely it will do its correct damage/hits. The problem is that it gets summoned in melee range, and is lucky to land more than 1 hit on its first pass.

Arena.net this needs to be fixed, as iBerzeker is one of the mesmer mainsources of reliable AoE damage.

The class is heavily crippled now in PVE.

The cap put on AoE healing was done without consideration for pet users.
Necromancers and rangers can hit this cap alone and mesmers fall 1 target short of cap via clones and phantasms.

I have already encountered players asking me not to summon my clones in dungeons due to them taking up healing slots!!!!

I don’t know what can be done to resolve this because making healing not work on pets hurts certain play styles as well (some mesmers use phantasmal healing to layer phantasms for more survival).

But something needs to be addressed.

Since the target cap on aoe heals is now 5, do Phantasms and Clones from mesmers fall into that?

Because if they do, i can see a great deal of problems arising (and hate) with mesmers.

Agony system can only be fought with ascended gear folks.

Therefore it’s a must have on serious runs of FotM.
This is not elitism, it’s just pragmatics.

Like I said, it would require permission to inspect.

My concern is pug groups. Without an easy way to cull your teamates pugging for
Deep FotM runs will be a fools quest.

You want to make sure all members of the team are fully protected from agony, so you can get the elite rewards deeper in the dungeon.

No thanks.Why would i want someone to inspect me and to say you can’t join my groups because you are not geared enough.
So no from me

It of course will require consent given to the inspector from the inspectee.

No one should be able to inspect you without your permission, but on the same hand, you should also understand if someone denies you a group if you don’t show evidence of your capability.

High end FotM teams will require this feature if purging will be at all viable.

Otherwise this will be a guild only affair.

It’s been brought up before, and I think its right to bring it up again.

With the coming of the new Ascended gear, that has a real effect on how a player performs in end gae content, Guild Wars 2 needs the ability to inspect other players gear added sorely.

Players will want to know if a player they are adding to thier team is equipped well enough for the run planned through FotM. It will avoid situations where players mislead and waste people’s time. A inspect option will make group forming much smoother and better all around!

With Ascended gear being a requirement for deep runs into the FotM for ELITE rewards, an inspect function is a necessity to ensure you are playing with Correctly equipped teamates.

I just dont feel powerful in PVE, what can i do?

The damage/survivability on dual swords is nice and greatsword is wonderful too. Just uh…don’t do this in dungeons and you probably don’t really want to do this when playing with other people around to help you kill things since it kind of offers nothing -but- damage in terms of support.

I don’t agree with the notion that MH-sword, OH-sword, Pistol and great sword do not bring team utility.

Stuns, blinds knock backs, vulnerability, might boons, leap combos, and speedy clone generation (I don’t always use clone on dodge) are helpful to your team.

The amount of vulnerability a Mesmer and 3 sword clones can stack is significant.
The cripple/immob from illusionary leap is significant, as well as its combo ability.
The knock back from illusion army wave is always useful, and it interrupts.
The stun, blind, and daze from magic bullet can save a teamate.
The boon removal and might buffs from GS 2 is always helpful too.

And yeah, plasma utter that is pretty much my build.

I love that you have to move to close a hole. Makes perfect sense. Stabbing and slashing the same area won’t fill it with sand.

The problem is some high DPS powers root you.
Many ranged attacks also get obstructed warnings unless you are in the exactly right place.

Arah/CoF/CM undoable for most groups. Patch?

You currently have to stay in motion to hit Graveling burrows with melee.
Otherwise you get constant missing.

I personally play a Mesmer and often times event my Iduelist and Iswordsman cannot land a hit.

It’s still possible to complete paths 1 & 2 with a good group, but pugs have difficultly due to the targeting bugs.

I just dont feel powerful in PVE, what can i do?

I play a Charr Mesmer, level 80.

Due to theme, I selected Sword/Pistol and Greatsword as my weapons, because, even though she is a mesmer, she is still a warrior… No wussie staffs, torches or focuses!

I play practially all the time in melee range. I only use great sword at range when it is tactical to do so (closing in or waiting for Cooldowns).

I Use hybrid Berzerker and Rampager gear. Complete glass cannon gear, yet I melee in open world and dungeons. I excel on a scholar in melee in complete glass cannon gear.
I fight elite dungeon bosses in glass cannon gear. I have held the line solo in pugs (only one not downed) in glass cannon gear. The class has issues yes, but it’s extremely competent in PVE!

I am traited for condition on crit, condition/cripple on clone death, condition removal on heal, condition removal or heal on shatter (I change this depending on what I am fighting), vigor on crit, vigor on shatter and both illusion damage buffs. Oh clone on dodge sometimes, I don’t always find it necessary.

I wreck my enemies, often ending fights at full HP. If I so choose, nothing can ever reach me in melee when I need a few seconds to recover Cooldowns/HP.

I have multiple dazed, multiple distortions, knock back, interrupts, and pretty much perma endurance regen. I laugh at enemies attempting to place conditions on me.

I frankly don’t understand why so many of you people lament and struggle so much.

What annoys me is that your cries of frustration (which I think is unfounded) is hurting the class as a whole, as the only trouble I encounter in PVE is from other players who read this crap and won’t invite me to team because “mesmers suck in PVE!!!!!”

The get that impression from these forums.

God you people will find any reason to complain! I suppose next you’re going to say “He’s got a set of pirate runes in his berserker/carrion gear. KICK HIM HE’S STATTED FOR MF!”

I run berserker/rampager hybrid gear on my Mesmer with 5 pirate runes on the armor.

Does this make me a bad player?
I can solo a lot of the elite boss npcs.

It does alight, just not consistently as is described, or as often as Historian Symon’s. There is a bug here.

As a side note, it would be nice if they were lit during ascalon catacombs runs, as well as just outside, as these are the most useful places to show off the glow.

I think it’s supposed to work based on the day or night cycle.
If its supposed,to be night in the portion of the world that the dungeon is in, then the weapons are supposed to alight.

I can also confirm that the greatsword isn’t glowing for me. I’ve seen the axe glowing, so it might just be the GS that’s bugged.

Certain weapons
LIke the Longbow or the axe work, but most do not. Sadly this issue seems to be getting burried in the rage posts over the dungeon adjustments…

I am taking a break after getting burned by broken loot from the ascalonian catacombs vendor, Historian Symon. His Ghastly weapons do not shapeshift on players like they are supposed to.

390 tokens down the drain till they fix this.

I don’t know the forum policy on bumps, but i a popping this thread back up in hopes of getting this noticed.

I lost almost of interest in this game after farming 390 ascalonian tears only to find the gear was not as advertised.

Here is my toon standing next to the vendor in lions arch at night.

Notice his weapons have taken on ghost form, while mine has not?
It didn’t work before or after transmutation.

390 Tokens for a sword that doesn’t work as advertised is a hefty price to pay.

I have bug reported this repeatedly:

The traveling mounds in Ascalonian catacombs dungeon are very hard to hit with melee.

This does not make the dungeon paths for Tzark or Hodgins impossible for a well built team of guildies, but it it exceedingly frustrating on PUGs. Sometimes groups that have great melee DPS flounder because they have to resort to ranged to destroy the mounds.

No other dungeon gives my pug groups (generally all good players willing to learn) so much issues.

My opinion of combat - Incredible bias against melee!

Now this is odd.

I play a sword/pistol Mesmer, and I do exceptional in melee range.
I fight elite lair bosses (spiked purple portrait rings) in melee range.

You ask how I do that Ina light armor class?

I am speccd for vigor, I disable and blind the targets, I use blurred frenzy and distortion.

No one is expected to face tank in this game. I have tanked for many groups on my light armor Mesmer, because I use the entire arsenal of abilities giving to my class.

Yes, sometimes I have to fall back to ranged in order to give me time to refresh my Cooldown cycle but I spend the majority of time in melee.

Honestly maybe the game isn’t the problem, maybe its the players perception.

Phantasmal Disenchanter and Phantasmal Defender see, to have their spawn locations switched.

Defender spawns at range, and Disenchanter spawns in melee.
It makes disenchanter practically worthless in the battles you need it most.

I play a Charr sword/pistol—Greatsword Mesmer.
Traited as a hybrid Phantasm/clone factory condition shatter build.

I spend a majority of time in melee range of targets that are extremely scary to other players. Because I have become spot on with my dodging, trained to have nearly perma vigor, I know when to use sword distortion, shatter distortion, and stuns to protect myself in melee.

My shatters are also constantly refilling my HP as well, on top of the incidental regen my phantasms provide.

I have tanked Lt. Kholer, was instrumental on the fire golem in Sorrows Embrace, And made the necro fight a joke on twilight Arbor.

Just like any class the difference between a amateur and a well played trained one is stark.

The other Charr used to laugh at her in the fahrar for Taking to a “weak” profession, they all want her in their warband now.

Strange, my 80 Mesmer carries teams in dungeons, and I have been complimented with how balanced my spec is between DPS/toughness/crowd control. I solo things that make warriors weep.

I am sick of players spreading around false information that leads to great p,ayers having to beg for teams.

After browsing the forums, I have seen wide calls from players screaming for play style A to be nerfed in favor of play style B, and so forth and so on.

Since gear stats are intrinsically linked to play style, what happens if A.net agrees and reduces the effectiveness of a particular play style in favor of promoting another that requires a totally different set of stats to use effectively?

Respects are cheap, but my gear took a great deal of time to come by (not to mention transmute $$$).

Is the only real answer is suck it up and start regrinding?

I run a balanced shatter/phantasm spec, and I always wanted to add the disenchanted to my arsenal for those pesky boss fights that require condition/Boon management.

But it’s quite impossible to keep it alive due to the fact that it spawn directly in melee range of its target.

Is this a flaw with the phantasm? Or is it intended to balance out, it’s boon stripping/condition removal utility?

Right now it’s just impossible to use effectively…

I keep seeing people say mesmer has low AoE, yet I rake in the drops on Orr zergs.
Maybe you guys need to balance your clone/phantasm creation vs your shattering better and change up your traits.

The graveling burrows have too small a hitbox to hit with melee, and even ranged has many “OBSTUCTED” Messages coming up when you try to take em out.

Makes AC explore paths 2 and 3 incredibly frustrating.
