I find the Thief fairly balanced, but the MAJOR thing I have an issue with is how STEALTH is working.

Being able to be hit with Targeting Abilities is a “No No!” in stealth mechanic game-play. The fact that I can be hit with abilities that “REQUIRE” a target while I’m stealthed… is disheartening. You might as well not play the Thief because you “THINK” it’s a stealthy “Rogue” like class from the other MMORPGS… In fact the way the current stealth mechanics are working out, you might as well call it a “Chubiewoobie” class…. What ever that is… because it’s not a Stealthy/Rogue like class in it’s current state.

I’m not asking or informing about a low amount of stealth time, but the way it’s allowing people to still target attack you. Lunges, throws, zapps w/e if it’s a skill that needs a target, and you go stealth you’re getting hit.

Thieves are far from OP. They’re actually broken from the “Thief Players” perspective. When a Thief goes stealth they can still be targeted by “TARGETING ABILITIES”…. I’m not talking AOE’s, but Actual abilities that require you to “Click” or “Select” a “Target”…. Going invisible renders “NO TARGET”…. Yet Thieves still get attacked by them… Yeah…. they are far from OP.

This is really heart-saddening. I can’t believe if we want these skins, we’re now forced to GRIND. We’re now forced to spend lots of gold many of us don’t have to create these Ascended back pieces, and infusions. We’re now forced to (on the grinding point) do these over, and over, and over with a chance of not getting what we “NEED”. Many of us are in love with our ONE lvl 80. Are these skins Transmutable to lvl 1-80? Or just lvl80?

Please tell me they’re allowed to be on Low Levels… That will make the boo boo go away ANET!

Unless you also read something else that I didn’t, I read this:

“The Rest of the Iceberg

We’ll be adding a lot of things down the road, but we’re not going to talk about them yet.
We know leaderboards are important.
We know the ability to spectate matches is important.
We know larger tournaments are important.
We know streaming is important."

To me, that meant “the rest” as in “we’re talking about it, but this other stuff is happening first”.

So, it sounds to me like it is, in fact, not in development yet…

2. THERE NEEDS to be 1v1 pvp matches and tournaments, as well as 2v2.
These two should be standard in GW2 and I am not sure why they have not done it yet.

It will be “Allowed” I seriously doubt they will add ladders for this. GW2 Isn’t pathetic as WoW is. They don’t need small arenas to suit the players that only play for them selves, or can only get along with a small group.

It’s named GuildWars for a reason. Guild wars was created as a MMO at the core. To have a massive group of people, friends, heroes that battle together. A Small tiny group less than a “pinch” full isn’t in their mind. I’m almost certain. Although I cannot speak for them. I’m just speaking from experience.

How’ever! ! ! I know the CROWD probably doesn’t agree with my opinion, because this is their first GW game. GW2 is much larger, and more of a traditional “MMORPG” in the fashion that it’s not instanced.

(I know I might get arguments about that, but let me say this. WoW doesn’t have overflows because it doesn’t have that many players in one area such as GW2. Towns are meant to be instanced for several reasons. Take that one up with a DEV)

Aye, I agree almost 100% with you Monarch, except that you’re only lvl5 in FoM. Maybe near the higher ups where it’s supposed to be much harder Raging Asura, and The Jelly get harder? :-D Like Rob said (hope it’s okay I call you that, Mr.Hrouda), Jelly gets it like a boss when he puts down Agony.

@ZLE Binding blade is a different case, it has an “Particle” effect when cast, but it’s really just a large ground AOE (at the casters feet) “Not a Targetable”. It’s also really slow and easy to dodge. So to say they take the Particle effect away when hitting stealth (as to not give their position away would be proper).

@FriQenstein Err I’m the OP, and I never knew about this Stealth glitch, nor do I want to. That has nothing to do with this post. This has been an issue for a while apparently (before the stealth glitch you speak of).

@Psikerlord Good luck dodging the initial attack when you want to for a Channel. Considering the Initial attack for a channel doesn’t start when the damage is dealt. It starts when they start channeling. You can roll and dodge a piece of damage from the Channel, but the channel will continue until finished or “LOS” occurs. Some, even a lot continue channeling through “LOS”.

Terribly sorry, but all of your points are a bit off. :’/

Lets keep this post a bit more civil. Opinions are fine, so are counter opinions. Just don’t call names, or rage out. Thanks everyone good stuff so far. Hopefully we can get an answer from the Dev’s.

Same here, I’ve never seen a post from a DEV being as it’s intended or not. This is a serious issue to me in PvP as a Thief. (I don’t use her much because of this reason; it’s really frustrating.)

Yeah, I guess I’ve not noticed it this hard until I started PvP’ing on my thief as much as lately.

My point is single attacks are fine to hit invisible units. So are AOE’s. But targeting CHANNELING attacks are not. You cannot target what you cannot see. If they just fixed the Channels everything would be peachy.

So here I am playing Spvp. Using the Stealth Backstab build. Everythings going well, at a level playing field.

“UNTIL” going stealth I start to notice a necro’s siphon ability still channeling after I went stealth.

I feel this is unintended. When you go INVISIBLE, channels on you; “all channels” need to cancel. Otherwise going stealth is worthless in a battle, and means next to nothing for escaping.

I’ve also noticed it happens when I was on my Guardian in my downed state. My #1 when channeled “Before” the thief went stealth; Still continues to face me in his/her direction, and the particle effect remains constant throughout.

This feels good for a Guardian, but ultimately is a seemingly broken mechanic for the Thieves, and a game breaker for them at times.

I would love to see this fixed, for as the thieves are finally on a level playing field with most classes now except for this.

Just because some random put it on the wiki as a condition doesn’t mean it is. Secondly “Save Yourselves!” isn’t removing it from allies. and “Contemplation of Purity” does not remove it and change it into a boon.

Having it not able to be removed is a tragedy still in my eyes. They already have a moa form, which totally screws anything, They have dazes like crazy as well.

So, I’m seeing these topics “Mesmer, is it op?” and the like. Since I can, I’d like to put my two cents into this area.

Are they OP? In sPvP I certainly think so. In 1v1… yes from what I can see, against almost everything (unless you have massive AOE). Not all professions have massive AOE capability to kill these clones/phantasms w/e. Not all specs are like that either even if they do.

Yes I know there’s particular ways to tell, but in a fast paced environment where you may die within seconds if not constantly making decisions, putting a bump in your fluidity trying to find the “REAL ONE” usually costs you your life.

Secondly I’d like to get to the main topic here and throw “Confusion” in the mix. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? As far as I know it’s not a “Condition”. (can’t be removed with condition removal skills). This is a major issue IMO. Yes, yes it’s meant for you to kill yourself. I get it, but crippling every profession from using any skills? That’s another CC, like a modified Silence of sorts.

Mes’ already have enough tricks with the doppelganger system, going invisible, invincible, and teleporting. I think making confusion removable (at least let an Ally be able to cleanse it) would make this class about on par.

At least one mechanic should probably go(clones, invisibility, invincibility, or at least make confusion able to be dealt with), and a few other things buffed.

Don’t flame, just explain.

I believe a god farm spot is in CoF – Citadel of Flame. The Explore mode is fairly easy and fast if you go with option #2

Try that against me on my Gaurdian, the only thing that annoys me as a gaurd is Mesmers, because I can’t figure out how/if I can remove the dang confusion. (not acting like a condition) You can’t put conditions on me, I eat them. You can’t stun me I pop out with two skills which are rarely ever BOTH on CD. I have mad heals, and hella mitigation. Not to mention constant burns, and around 60%~crit.

Oh did I mention going invincible for 5 seconds, returning with a heal+aegis, another aegis available, more heals and stun breaks. Dude it goes on. I’ve rarely encountered your 2-3 second fight as a ranger either. With the right moves, and the right build/pet combo “You can’t touch this”.

How much Achievement Points do you have?
