Concerning cele amulet:
All classes except ele have viable builds w/o cele. So obviously you need to buff ele or they will die in a second. You could do this in the following ways:
A) Increase the ele’s base health and toughness
B) Change mistform into basically signet of stone. Currently its only function is to delay incoming damage while not returning any pressure.
C) Buffing the ele’s damage (which could only be done by making sPvP different from PvE again)
D) Give the ele a ton of teleports
E) Do nothing and people won’t play the class anymore.

I really hope this helps. Please give Anet constructive feedback on HOW they should buff ele.

Generally, if you have criticism and want to have an improvement, make a new topic and stay as constructive as you can.

At this point I feel like it’s difficult to say what will be viable in PvE, depending on the difficulty. However, in general, I don’t think that the tempest offers anything great besides the overloads: The weapon is kinda meh. The traits give you the option to stack protection for a group easily with a aura-sharing build, but other than that I don’t see really great build opportunities. So I think that the viability of the air overcharge will determine playability of tempest in PvE.

About the warrior thing: Their defense is more accessible, which gives them a huge advantage in the zerk vs zerk PvP duel. Their sustain is weaker tho. Every class has strengths and weaknesses.

O.O this impressive, but i think it will be nerf…

No stab, he’d lose against any decent player in wvw able to chain a single interrupt…..no chance in pvp without stab and plenty of interruptible skills…also this is beta weekend and few are used to overloads and tempest

Actually this build offers more stab than all usual ele builds: Stab on utility skill and stab on overcharging (plus a lot of stunning auras, which also protects you in a way).

To make clear, I know that the surprise factor was in my favor and I am no good fresh air player, but stab is a strength and not a weakness of the build.

As I say to everyone who comes here asking for nerfs, crying something is OP etc I say to you. Learn to adapt. Heaven forbid you must think about when you use skills.

The point is that traits should give you something. And simply reduced cooldowns on manipulations would be great. But if I for example use mass invisibility, an enemy can simply shoot a projectile and target lock will reveal me immediately (Same applies to any combo involving any manipulation skill + stealth). And therefore, the trait is a bigger benefit for my enemy than for me. In my opinion, this isn’t right.

Yeah, traited mass Invis has a trade off, and you have to be more thoughtful for when you use it, but it not being ideal in one scenario (escaping) hardly makes the entire trait unusable.

You have a point. But is it worth a trait point then? I can’t think of any other traits that involve trade-offs. Usually they just give something, at no cost.

Hello,

I just want to point out why Master of Manipulation is basically unplayable in PvP:
The cdr on manipulation skills is awesome.

However, the additional effect of reflecting projectiles is the issue:
If the enemy fires a projectile and you stealth (with a manipulation skill, e.g. mass invisibility), the projectile is reflected and reveals you!

Nerf the mesmer as much as you want, but this trait needs to be changed =)

I just don’t feel like taunt is a good idea for PvP.

The amout of control effects was already high enough in my opinion. Fighting a ranger with a 15 second cooldown on taunt is not a great experience and I would not like to see more of this in HoT.

What do you guys think?

Warning: This thread might be boring for people not interested in business

A lot of business litterature on the topic of computer games claims that the fixed costs (development cost, marketing) are much higher than the variable costs (servers, customer service, packaging). Since HoT is only available digitally, the packaging costs are irrelevant and the relation becomes even more unbalanced.

Usually, when one has high fixed costs, one tries to benefit from economies of scale. In other words, one tries to obtain a high sales volume with a low/moderate unit price.
I am sure that the marketing team was aware of all the different strategies and selected the most profitable one. So why do you think did HoT end up with an arguably medium to high price strategy? Maybe because we GW2 players are not very price-sensitive?

Did I miss any major points? Feel free to share your thoughts!

Hi guys,

as you are certainly aware, HoT’s 3 different preorder versions are now available. I am for sure willing to pay this amount of money and the content will be worth it. However, I find it ridiculous that a version costing as much as a full game includes no additional character slot. Because I am sure that all of us want to make a revevnant without deleting our old characters.

I also understand the alternative of buying the 100$ version and getting the slot quasi for free, but I chose to buy gems when I want. I already invested several hundreds of euros but this offer seems pretty greedy.

Me being a very terrible player, I feel this would just cause me to get repeated dishonor votes because I’m not good and die a lot. PvP already discourages me enough by repeated deaths, I don’t need repeated deaths and repeated mocking of said death.
I can only go about 3 matches before I want to kill myself now from feeling like a total failure of a human being from dying repeatedly and not being of next to any use. I just want a larger map size please. Thats it, just a larger option of map size so that my constant deaths doesn’t cost the entire team a loss nearly every time.

I asked for an honor system. Not for a dishonor / report system.

How awesome would it be if we were able to honor players after a match?

I just played with a support guard that carried the mid fight and I just came up with this idea. Now don’t get me wrong: I do NOT want a system that gives you the ability to downvote/report other players. Let’s keep it positive.

While this feature for sure is not really needed, it would encourage players to keep playing sPvP. I believe that the effort required from ArenaNet would be really small, so why not? What do you think

I am no theory crafter or anything but here are my thoughts:

Concerning PvE: While ele might have the best potential dps out there at the moment, I am sure that in many cases, in practice, other classes are more effective (especially for the non- hardcore players). For example, when taking or anticipating huge incoming damage, a warrior can activate his invulnerability or heal passively and keep attacking meanwhile. The ele has to stop attacking by going into mistform or into defensive attunements. I

Concerning sPvP: True, the ele is a great 1v1 class. However, depending on the weapon set and spec, there is huge outplay potential. For example, a thief can make the ele spam his cooldowns and shadowstep away immediately.
Secondly, the bursty builds can be focused pretty easily in teamfights, e.g. by medi guards.
And thirdly, also in sPvP, popping your defense reduces outgoing damage since you have to swap attunements.

Concerning WvW: Of course, eles provide massive AoE damage, support and utility. Focusing them is the way to go there, e.g. with a coordinated backline farming group.
Roaming on ele is fun, but since the lack of crit in celestial, I don’t think it is overpowered anymore. Players who know what they are doing will punish eles really bad and e.g. engis can spam you with more conditions than you can bear.

In my opinion the ele is not overpowered and not the strongest class in every aspect of the game. My personal favorites are:
- roaming (sPvP and WvW): meditation guard
- PvE: warrior (just because it’s a no-brainer) or guard (fail-safe for fractals)
- WvW zerg: staff ele

Having said all of this, a huge part of this discussion might become irrelevant sometime this year due to a specific event… THE HYPE TRAIN HAS NO BRAKES =)

When people lose, they always blame their team mates being bad and/or solo queue, the other team are premades and queue together.

It’s pretty easy to tell when people know what they’re doing. Conquest isn’t a particularly complicated gametype.

It is pretty easy to split among 5 players among 3 points. However, premades have a massive advantage on maps with additional objectives. In the ranked queue, there are therefore 2 maps which are unbalanced for a mixed queueing system:

- Temple of the Silent Storm: Making strategies for meditations is much easier.
- Legacy of the Foefire: Executing lord kills is much easier/faster.

This is just constructive feedback. Playing in a premade group myself, I am only honest about this.

Together with my semi-casual guild team with almost no rank-80s, I grinded my way to position 35 on the leaderboard. I stopped going into queue solo, because it’s just not encouraging to lose your points or to remain even. Carrying games solo is incredibly hard against premades. A solution would be to decrease/eliminate the loss of points vs. premades for a loss and/or to increase the gain of points for a win.

Lastly, thanks for caring and bringing life back into PvP. Overall, you do an awesome job. We just try to point out the issues that are still there in order to make GW2 flawless.

This is not a hack It’s simply someone leveling up. Last week, I was down to my last 5% Downed HP, and a tagged Defender got stomped, resulting in enough XP to pick me up to full health. The level up is a complete reset of your character.

Side note – This is the reason why we hate “Rally Bot” uplevels in WvW.

If you had read the full thread, you would know that I was brought out of combat, which does not occur on level up.

Maybe a silly question, but there is no chance that the mesmer had tagged an NPC that died, which resulted in him levelling up and insta healing?
People that report people without knowing any potential (legit) causes should be banned..

No, this is not possible. As I mentioned, a level up or a rally doesn’t get you out of combat immediately.

Hello,

I just encountered an enemy mesmer who I got into the downed state in our tower. The next moment, I am out of combat (while I am still next to him!) and he has full life again.

I am a very experienced player and know that it is impossible to get out of combat in this situation. Even if he had rallied for some reason (i.e. kill or level up), I still would have been in combat with him. So please take this seriously and ban this awful person.

Thank you in advance. You do a really good job in keeping the game clean. In around 2500 hours of WvW, I encountered less than 10 hackers.

New Dungeons/Paths/Hardmode?

Hi!

You encouraged to give more feedback during today’s livestream, so here I am. =D

I am a PvE player who loves dungeons. As a rather “hardcore” player, I also participated in every other type of content, but the dungeons kept me interested.

Since release, you made only one new permanently available dungeon: The fractals. They are awesome, no doubt. I look forward to you increasing the level cap.

Other than that, dungeons did not get much love though. We got a rework of Ascalonian Catacombs , gold for dungeon completion and a LFG tool.
EDIT: We of course also got the awesome aetherblade path, sorry!

And well, my problem is that I am really bored. I know all paths and there is no adrenaline anymore. Every run is a success (apart from Arah P4 maybe).

I see that developping new dungeons/paths is very time-consuming, but it would be no big deal to give us a hardmode. I loved the SAB for this reason! Don’t get me wrong: I don’t ask you to throw away your concept of horizontal progression. I know that you can give us suitable rewards like titles, skins, etc.

Maybe I am just not part of your target group, but after over 2000 hours in GW2, I see myself moving on towards the other new MMO by your publisher NCSoft… I actually did not want to go, but I need content guys! The feature pack looks pretty cool, but it contains only improvements. I hope my feedback helped you. If anyone else feels the same way or similarly, feel free to like the post. I will be back for the expansion, but until then: Good bye GW2, we had a good time together! ;(

Fractal Lvl 43: Shaman - How?

My group and me just tried to do a fractal lvl 43. We had the following picks:

1st fractal: swamp – no problem
2nd fractal: ascalon – no problem
3rd fractal: shaman

While some fractals might be quite easy with the instability (Combat is agonizing. Get a kill for relief.) , we desperately tried to figure out any way to kill this fractal’s end boss. Killing the elementals simply kills you and there is no way to survive without killing them.

Has anyone managed to defeat the shaman on 43 so far? If so, how did you do it? If you had the same issues, please answer or like the post. Either I am simply too dumb or the elementals are just way too hard (the only solution that I see is to spam elemental powder but that can’t be intended by the developper).

@Arenanet: Did you try to fight against the shaman on this particular level? How are we meant to defeat the waves of elementals?

Sorry, but it seems to me that you don’t even test the content you release in its final form. I experienced 3 bugs today that made progress impossible. What about the “available when it’s ready” philosophy?!

December 10th Elementalist changes

I am playing a dd elementalist in WvW.

From a WvW perspective, diamond skin is really not helpful and nobody will use it. Why? In WvW you have frontliners such as warriors or guards that can bash away 10% of your HP before the condition dealers even arrive. I’d recommend you to overthink this trait.

I love the changes for Arcane IX – Windborne Dagger since you have to run a lot in WvW. Thank you in advance.

I’d like to add one more thing here about staff eles and their healing power. In my opinion, burst finishers are way too powerful in combination with water fields. Currently, many zerg fights are won only because one team uses blast finishers. Could you e.g. imagine increasing the healing power and therefore limit the amount of blast finishers per combo field to 5?
