I read some posts on the forum, but they are mostly, if not all, outdated.
My concern is simple : I played mainly Necromancer & Engineer back then, before HoT expansion came out. So I don’t really know about Elite Specializations and it might be quite tricky to have a good statement considering videos on youtube & subjectives opinions from players in game ; it didn’t help me out, really.
So I put my trust in you guys to help me, and other players that might ask themselves the same question : Which classes have been torn apart and which are viable ?
I mainly play in a PvP perspective, but in sPvP & ranked PvP I see mainly Guardians, Warriors & Mesmers. Appearently, the new class Revenant (and Herald Elite Spe) is a “total garbage”, tho it seems to be pretty effective considering it gives buffs for its party.
Let’s be clear : I am NOT looking for the most OP class, since it’s a sheep statement to base one’s opinion on this. But considering your experience and point of view, by taking also into account the update made on 22nd February, which classes are still competitive in a WvW & PvP aspect ?

As someone back for two months after a 2 year hiatus, it’s kind of annoying how most topics in each Proffesion forum are just complaining about how crummy their respective class currently is.
Seems like it’d be more useful to discuss certain aspects that may be lacking, but just sick of the “X is broken” mentality I’m constantly seeing.
He said everything. All those kids saying “My class is broken, need up”, in. Every. F***. Single. Post. In. Every. Class.
Cancer community. I don’t know how devs find the ability to keep up working while seeing all those trash commentaries. Seriously ridiculous.
Don’t base your opinion on other subjectives players’ ones….
Revenant & especially Herald is a GREAT support class which offers tons of boons ; you can build it damage oriented but it won’t be as efficient as other zerk class
It’s kinda of the Chanter in Aion indeed. Buffer / Damage dealer with decent damage output
As I said before : this game is dying.
Waiting to see how those changes will be done, but players will role another class or just abandon the game to play another MMO.
Time will tell, as always, in every game.
first, gw2 is neither failing nor falling apart.
second, all mobility skills are being changed such that your movement speed doesnt affect travel distance. engis simply get the worst end of the deal since its the only class with super speed and a long range true jump.
This game is slowly dying. Anet team claiming there will be many builds, truth is every player on this fail game just suck metabattle.com balls really hard. Casual Sheep pvp players everywhere in sPvP / WvW. All with same traits, same builds, same bullkitten gameplay (ex : Meditation Guardians everywhere, every single one playing ONE & unique build).
They failed at it very hard. So many players in game is thinking the same way, just waiting for another MMO. Not seeing this is lying to yourself.
Where did you all see Rock Boots will be nerf ? I see nothing about it (though it’s a shame if it’s the case, GW2 is failing appart anyway)
Haha, whatever you say. Top class is so full of themselves that they can’t see in other classes’ perspective, doesn’t even know they have the 2nd best cleanse as a “real build” in the game in PVP. I’m talking about “actual build” at their disposal. Ofc other classes can bring all cleanses, but then they’d be useless because of it. Shoutbow keeps all the cleanse while being useful, that is all.
I’m actually laughing quite abit of how little you know of other classes. Also I’m responding to a guy comparing Guardian and Warrior, donnu why you drag Necro in lol. One last thing, Necro is the bottom class in PVP, so you really don’t have to compare necro to you superior warrior.
Sorry kid, I’m playing Thief as my main class, not warrior. So your argument is invalid. I’m absolutely not the kind of person defending my main class, I absolutely don’t give a ****** about those kiddish things.
Just saying : This post is about Healing Signet on Warriors. You all bring every class in this subject to compare what needs to be compared. So, according to this point of view, I bring Necromancers also.
The problem isn’t about passive healing on the Warriors’ Healing Signet, it’s about the whole mechanic. You can’t have a balanced game (especially in PvP) considering every class have access to the Holy Trinity’s specificity (Deal Damage, Support & Tank). It’s just not possible.
But if you just take logic into account : Warrios = Frontliners = Need to be more tanky (healing signet is just an option taken into account).
If you do a straight comparison, shoutbow has way more condition removal than mediation Guardian.
Mediation Guardian has 1 cleanse at 20 CD, 1 full cleanse at 48 cd, f2 cleanse x 2 (include renewed focus) on a 45 cd.
Shoutbow has 2 cleanse at 20 CD, 1 cleanse at 48 cd, warhorn 4 and 5 cleanse, F1 cleanse 3 conditions every 8~10 seconds.
Let me laugh a little bit. You want to talk about condition removal ?
Necromancers are the best at it – Condi transfer + Heal absorb condis + F1 condi mitigate
Engineer – Major trait -33% condi duration when below low health + heal turret remove 2 condi + elixir gun + elixir ..
Guardians – (no need to ask questions all guardians now are playing meditation builds) so full spam your utility skill to remove all conditions + invu on elite skill
Wanna keep up ? Wanna talk about Elementalists removing all conditions in few seconds by switching to water with purify trait ? Come on ….
All classes have access to conditions removal. No need to discuss about it.
Supposed problem is the passive of Healing Signet which heals “too much”. So what about Rangers’ heal ? It’s more than mitigating damages.
/!\ Don’t forget ONE VERY IMPORTANT thing : Warriors are frontliners, melee class (no need to talk about trolls trickshot). So mechanics of the game supposes that heavy armors class are more tanky than others (then, what about tank necro ? tank elem ?) There’s a major problem in this game because you absolutely CAN NOT decide both to remove the holy trinity basics of MMO (SUPPORT – DAMAGE DEALER – TANK) and to make every single class BALANCED in PvP. It’s purely impossible, there will always be some advantages / disadvantages ..
As a player of GW2 from the beggining of its launch I can say for sure that the warrior class had been through a lot of trouble before this state.
From a Warrior point of view, Healing Signet is what makes you stay alive in a melee fight. Don’t mention “it’s about your skills and your ability to avoid burst by dodging and using blocks etc” your argument is irrelevant. I can mitigate all direct damages without even paying attention to the fight (but Warriors are supposed to be more tanky than other classes right? even though they cut off the Holy Trinity basics).
• From a Thief point of view : The way I kill warriors (build tank or zerk) with my thief is full zerk D/P + stack blind = easy victory. But if I make a mistake they can easily burst me down in litteraly few seconds (in zerk build), while they can mitigate all my direct damages, so it’s a lot more about timing et right time to burst while they’re being blinded.
• From an Engineer point of view : Kite until the warrior does mistakes to punish him badly (with full conditions or burst from zerk / cele stuff). The trick is to stack poison on them ; luckily engineers have access to a lot of skills to apply pressure on opponents with CC.
NB : Heal Turret (low CD + dispell conditions + burst heal + regen) from Engineers is far more OP than Healing Signet for Warriors, just saying

Btw, you’re a thief right ? A thief in the middle of a zerg… Yep, you absolutely don’t understand the mechanic of your class. I suggest you to go buy some skills, a cheap brain or just end your life with your own garbage.

There is no such things as “best build” for what you ask. And .. if you would have read a little bit, there are tons of hybrid builds on this forum, so don’t be a lazzy kitten & just check those up
I’m sorry, but your rotations are way off, and the first battle made me not want to watch anymore of the video. You are not procing might stacks, and weren’t using your projectile reflects at the right times. The guardian also bowed at one point to call the fight, to which you chased him until he was downed, staked, then jumped away like a proud princess.
Spamming all skills just because they’re up is not how you play this class. kthxbye
You’re kinda like the jealous guy right ? ^^ Easy to critize people when they try to show us something nice. But as you seem to be a pro elementalist player, please show us your skill into a video in which you prove all you just said It’ll be much more appreciate instead of having this kind of lame behaviour.
Well, that’s not true ^^ Since the beggining of the game there have been big changes overall, but actually I agree about some problems that need to be fix. The game still needs improvements, but as I said, I don’t pay monthly fees, so it’s not a huge problem as far as I’m concerned.
PS : It’s good to remember that Nutella is good. kittening yummy.
As, I just remind you, GW2 isn’t a game in which you pay monthly fees (which is ALWAYS good to remember for such a good game) you can choose whether or not to play, you can still come back to enjoy the game later, that’s not a problem.

I played every class until lv 80, I’m actually leveling my elementalist who approaches to the cap level, I must say this class really lack things like HP pool it’s kind of frustrating sometimes .. Because there is no counterbalance to make it fair towards the other classes, I don’t really understand. Though, I would like to say “Elementalist can heal more that any other class!” then I just thought about my Thief being in stealth & I can heal like half of my HP pool while removing conditions, my Guardian who actually never down to half HP because of my full regen or my Warrior with OP signet (which I enjoyed for a bit, but not anymore since it became to easy to win in sPvP or WvW with my Warrior nowadays .. :/)

(Yeah, that sounds kinda nasty, but I like nasty things, just like hitting some randow fella’ with my backstab for 15k damage & sucking a duck just after that. Yeah, I got some serious mental issues. Yeah, I know, little boobs will rule the world, so what?)

I actually was thinking about how great is the Focus as far as the PvP is concerned. Though, there might be some improvement on this weapon set.. Anyways, S/F is a great combo & you just demonstrated it

You obviously didn’t read all the way down to the patch. D/D needed a nerf, obviously was way too much OP. That IS a fact. So don’t complain like an idiot. Elementalists still are awesome. It’s a bit more balanced now.
Didn’t mean to taunt, but obviously it’s insanely annoying to see all those Elementalist running with EXACTLY the same bunker/heal D/D OP build. Guys, seriously, aren’t you bored to play this way? (Never crosses an Elementalist with Staff, or maybe 1 – 2 times..)
Everytime I cross an Elementalist in WvW it’s the freaking same thing : Tanking 10 of us & then running away while killing 2 – 3 of us (full exotic, good players, not casual afk players looking at the birds).
Even with CC (so that Elementakitten D/D can’t move, his weakness for this build), poison (so that they won’t heal as much), insane burst & so on.. Those freaking Elementalist just won’t die. Why? Because they got SO MUCH condition removal, so much heal (they obviously out heal themselves), so much stun breaks you just CAN’T do something.
I ALREADY KNOW there are a lot of posts running through this forum, but please, Anet do something. Or maybe you want all the players to reroll Elementalist D/D so that there’ll be only this kind of class fighting in sPvP / WvW? Players like the easy way, they got something with the Elementalist D/D.
I may add that I played Lv 80 Elementalist D/D in WvW, I know what I’m talking about. There’s something wrong with this class & it’s need to be fix as soon as possible.

I played the crap out of MMs in GW1. The reality is that people seem to forget how terrible we were the second our minions died. Our entire skill bar was devoted to minion creation, upkeep, and buffing. Any time you went into a group in PvE or the huge PvP (JQ, FA, AB), you would pray that your group could carry you through 2-3 fights so you could get up at least 5 or so minions and be not useless. You then had to pray that those 5 minions would kill more than they died, so you could stay somewhere close to 10 minions; all the while you are spamming Death Nova, BotM, and other healing/buffing spells to keep your army alive.
You seem to forget something. Guild Wars 2 is NOT Guild Wars 1. You have to deal with it.
