So, is sPvP basically only for Necros, Mesmers, Thieves, and Elementalists?

Using conditions versus necros…oh dear.
1. First of all necros have a very good condition remover which even boosts their healing
2. Their only -really- viable spec is a condition build…which features plague signet which let’s you transfer conditions. To sum it up: You helped the necro by boosting his heal and also his damage by transfering conditons you placed on him to you.
it’s true we necros are masochists heh. We take the conditions of our allies and our own and spread them around or eat them for health lol. Hitting us with conditions is only helping us in the end.. well most of the time anyway.
Direct burst dmg is the way to go if you want to bring a necro down.
Sustained DPS should counter bunkers. This allows the bunker to perform his role by stalling the enemy until his team arrives. Bunkers should counter burst. Blow CDs to burn someone down, blow CDs to counter it. Simple, effective. If burst counters bunkers, it becomes a fragfest.
This is where you lose me. You’re saying Sustained should counter bunker… but it still allows bunker to perform his role by stalling. So how exactly is he countered.
I suppose we really shouldn’t be talking about specifically countering the bunker build but rather countering the node holding strategy that births them right?
I mean if the enemy team has to respond and come help the said bunker out, doesn’t that mean that you have successfully countered that strategy by forcing them to dump more people on that node to hold it? Perhaps thats what he meant by sustained dps countering a bunker build. If one person can put enough pressure on the bunker that the enemy team is forced to send back up to hold it then the attacker has succeeded in weakening the whole point behind the strategy.

as a necro I find killing bunker guardians pretty easy.. it just takes a year and a day heh and before I know it the enemy team has shown up to deal with me.
In my mind bunker builds are not necessarily meant to counter burst or vice versa. They are just meant to drag out the engagement, so that reinforcements can show up and mop up. So a fight that would last 20 secs is turned into a fight that lasts 1 min.
If anything counters burst it would be an aoe spec, burst or otherwise.
And, if anything where to counter a bunker build it would have to be a condition/boon stripper type of build that takes away or bypasses the targets durability.
heh thats the name of the game in objective based pvp. It might sting a little but in the end it’s about who’s the last one standing on the ‘hill’, so to speak, rather than the one who has the most skulls decorating his belt.
Would be nice to get a few death match types in tpvp.
it’s a legitimate tatic. The treb, after all, is the higher value target in that situation.
Just want to point out that all ED minions compete with each other for territory and resources. an example being the destroyers fighting the risen. So if the pale tree is a product of an ED this could explain why they instinctually fight the other dragon minions.. also would explain the whole hive mind thing they have going on. Another thing is that the pale tree would likely be assimulated by its respective ED when/if it wakes up.
Then again it could have absolutely nothing to do with the EDs but I think thats somewhat unlikely.
hmm.. well from what I can tell people are complaining about classes that the majority of people havn’t bothered to figure out how to counter or who have an advantage once they go into a downed state.
Also the most complained about classes tend to be easier to play at a lower skill lvl. At the higher end they all tend to equalize to an extent in potency.
gw2 targeting has a tendency to drop the target and select a new target. It isn’t the worst targeting system i’ve come across but it is pretty annoying in both pve and pvp at times.
That is if you use auto targeting. as far as i know it does exactly that. You can prevent it from switching away from your initial target by enabling ‘promote skill target’ in your options. With this once you hit something with any skill it locks the target until it is gone or you change it yourself.
I use this so that may explain why i dont have the issue.
i’ll have to take a look at that then >,,,> probably should have already searched for it.
Stomping isn’t a function of your skill, it’s a function of how much access your profession has to blocking, stealthing or stability.
If there’s a class that doesn’t have access to any skill that can aid with stomping, I’d like to know about it.
necro. we have stability in ds and lich forms but can’t stomp in those forms. Other than stability we have nothing.
I think that you shouldn’t rally on the enemies death or that you should bleed out a little faster personally.

downed system in spvp is kind of annoying.. makes 1v2 almost impossible. I think they should either take it out or make the downed player bleed out faster.
Well I suppose it only makes sense that gw1 spvp is better than gw2. They put alot more time into gw1 so far after all. Here’s to hoping they improve gw2s spvp.
This leads me to believe that they are more concerned with each other than with the other ‘lesser’ races, instead veiwing the other races as a source of food and a way to expand their respective domains in relation to one another.
When you say it like that it sound like an echo of how humanity has veiwed the real world up until now.
well more or less yeah. I guess you can see echos between what the dragons in game are doing and what humanity naturally does in real life. After a certain strength is gained in relation to another being you see yourself as being greater than them by your right of strength or birth. Then they become only tools to further your own means.
You can see this in how we treat animals and our environment, how we treat others from weaker countries or how the rich treat the poor.
It would only be natural for something as strong as the elder dragons to think of ‘lesser’ races as nothing more than a resource to be used as they see fit.

you have to be close to the mark for its effects to effect you. if you were close then idk.
I agree that they should probably change it, but you do get the bonus for the little death bunny that pops out after you kill someone heh.
well it could also be that they already had the role that he would have played as a necro filled by another class.. or that he was inexperienced as a necro. Hard to say really but I havn’t run across this to much myself.
I’m not to certain but I think I read some where that they do plan on splitting pvp and pve.. but again it was a while back when I read it.
in the chaos of battle keeping track of the real mesmer can be difficult, not to mention most of their abilities look similar to one another. excepting their big flashy spells of course. i’ve started one up myself just so I can get a better handle on what they are capable of and what to look out for.
So thats what was happening.. I just thought stealth didn’t break on the first hit haha.
necros are ranged tanks that inflict conditions and have pets. They are essentially the opposite (counter part?) of the guardian. They are hard to play, but recently i’ve seen an uptick in well played necros. so maybe all this necro hate will even out after a few more of our bugs are dealt with.
We also can inhabit other areas such as boon stripper or sustained dps due to our more hardy nature.. we have no burst at all though.

From the evidence offered I would say it could go either way as far as intelligence is concerned.
I personally think they are likely highly intelligent, if in an alien way. After all it’s basically a giant carnivorous lizard with a severe case of the munchies. It wakes up corrupts the immediate area gaining all the memories of those it corrupts (in the case of zhaitan at least) and proceeds to establish a ‘nesting’ area. Then it creates its’ champions to manage its’ hive, its’ resources and expand its’ area of influence while the ED itself stays mostly stationary.
This leads me to believe that they are more concerned with each other than with the other ‘lesser’ races, instead veiwing the other races as a source of food and a way to expand their respective domains in relation to one another.
Now after we kill Zhaitan, the EDs might take a new look at us but i’m not sure diplomacy is an option.. would make for a dull game heh.

er.. didn’t they just fix a few bugs out over a hundred? I wouldn’t call it a new necro, just a necro that is slowly coming into what it was intended to be. It is only a little more effective as it stands.. it’s always been extremely tanky and pretty good at taking guardians apart in 1v1s in my experience.

You do take “dmg” while in ds, just the amount taken is seemingly reduced and of course it doesn’t touch your “real” health.
hmm.. well I don’t play an ele but I do know they seem to be lacking in spvp atm. They are probably the most squishy class out there and their downed states leave them completely vulnerable. I’ve fought a few that put out a huge amount of damage in a short time but this isn’t the type of class you will want to engage in 1v1 with ever. I suggest you pick some one your team that looks strong and stick to him whatever path you choose.
seems like an annoying problem.
I play a necro. I wouldn’t call myself a ‘great’ pvper but I am pretty good. I play basically a condition spec with a heavy side of toughness.
only class I can’t kill 1v1 if they are any good is the mesmer. Don’t know if I would call them op though, as I know none of their skills. something I plan to correct soon.
guardians are essentially free kills if I catch them alone. their main danger seems to be how much they buff up everyone around them.
thiefs are dangerous if you don’t instantly recognize them and get some distance between you and them.. a difficult proposition at best most of the time.
warriors are only really dangerous if I stand still or I get knocked down.
I havn’t encountered a well played engineer… they don’t seem to be popular in spvp.
Rangers are a moderate danger that can go either way depending on the situation.
other necros arn’t a particular danger.. they are just difficult to kill. I run away and ignore them most of the time.
Almost forgot about the elementalist… poor poor elementalists.. they seem u.p. even compared to the necro if you ask me.
I play mostly spvp.
Necro’s strength seems to leen more to debuffs, tankyness, and running away if you ask me. They are more about sustained dps rather than any kind of burst. Definitely an attrition type of fighter. Pets in general are more of a pve thing in this game and even then are inconsistant dmg at best.

Almost certainly carnivores… Scary thing is their teeth are seemingly the type ment to bite down and hold on heh… must make chewing their food next to impossible!
Eh. It seems to me when you exchange gold for gems or vice versa, they take a pretty big cut from you. It makes it impossible from my perspective to make a gain in this system, but i havn’t done any “real” analysis of the system.. so meh.
