Ventari tablet should autosummon and follow

in Revenant

Idris.9351

I personally enjoy the aspect of managing the tablet’s placement and skills while fighting elsewhere. I think it reminds me a bit of managing spirits on my ritualist in GW1 which was always a lot of fun. However, I do agree that it should autosummon (and perhaps follow until placed) on legend swap because I don’t really see the point of having to swap and THEN summon or have 0 utilities. TBH i can’t really see the point of that mechanic aside from that after you use the elite skill, you need to resummon.

I do sort of think that the heal is somewhat low, as well. I think it’s alright from an outgoing perspective, that it does a decent job helping in a group situation. But it should provide a bit more self heal in the actual heal skill slot, and perhaps not also require placing the tablet again to use that heal. (Elsewhere someone suggested making the other utility skills require placement of the tablet which would take care of moving it, not sure how that well that would work). Even if it still required you to re-place the tablet, it might be nice if it still provided some sort of self healing even if you don’t stand in the path of the tablet. It doesn’t have to be anything huge, just enough to keep you alive if you are fighting outside the range of the tablets’ aoe. Natural Harmony is also a nice heal for a group setting, yet not actually that helpful for your own character. In a sense Ventari has less survivability than the other legends if you’re not standing RIGHT on top of the tablet when you need it.

(cut for length)

I absolutely get what you’re saying, and what I’ve said is indeed not enough to cover all of the problems that the revenant has.

The point of my idea is more that some of the parts of each attack change. I absolutely agree that having a “class-within-a-class” for each legend of the revenant would be ideal, but I think flat out changing every skill on the bar would take away from the unique skills of the class. I think that would make it a class near identical to the Elementalist in terms of the way you have to play it. My idea is trying to make the Revenant unique by changing some of the components, so there is always a distinct way that the revenant plays.

By maintaining the same weapon mechanics for each legend, it means that no legend is at a major advantage or disadvantage with each weapon. Then by changing some of the effects of the weapon for each legend means that the revenant can switch dynamically to suit the situation that they’re in without losing out if they’re on the ‘wrong’ weapon for that legend. As I said, I agree this idea is an over-simplification of the problem, but I think it would go a long way to making this class more fun to play without just making it a heavy-armour clone of the abilities that several other classes already have.

I think this is probably the best idea on how to fix the weapon issue for revenants tbqh. Not to mention the fact that it’s somewhat in keeping with the theme of drawing on certain ritualist ideas from GW1.

Anyone who has played GW1 will remember the ritualist’s weapon spells (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Weapon_spell) that applied certain attributes to weapons for yourself, your party or both. While that idea probably wouldn’t work on Revenants at this point in development, it might be nice if the Legend currently being used had a more passive but similar effect, like condition removal for yourself and allies after every few hits on Ventari, or an unblockable attack every ten seconds on Jallis. It doesn’t even need to be something that specific, but something to make each weapon set more streamlined with Legend switching.

Weapon Swapping would be CLUMSY for Revenant

I posted this in another thread but I like the idea of assigning weapons to legends- not anet pre-assigning them but to be able to set whatever weapon you prefer for your two legends and then auto swapping weapons when you swap legends. Presumably after they add some sort of passive effects to each stance so that all weapons are viable with each legend.

Revenant needs a 2nd Weapon

At first I was hesitant to agree with this, because I tend to enjoy ele and engi without weapon swapping and I expected more of the same from Rev. HOWEVER due to the fact that I can’t really do much with the utility skills, this is actually kind of necessary.

I prefer running around with Mallyx mace/axe mostly but there’s no way to get out of a bad situation and heal up (especially considering the heal is contingent on conditions). Even switching to ventari is sort of too little too late when you are about to be downed. I would actually PREFER weapon swapping to legend swapping because then you could dodge out of the way and finish the enemy with the hammer (which def. needs a dps buff but that’s beside the point).

One thing that MAYBE would be doable is allow players to lock a weapon/weapon set to a legend. For example, Jalis and hammer, Mallyx and mace/axe. So when you swap legends you actually also swap weapons, giving you a little more versatility and maneuverability. However, some of the weapons need a little tweaking so that different mixes are viable, like hammer Mallyx or mace & axe Ventari. Also Ventari’s tablet should be auto summoned on swap so that it can be more easily used in last ditch efforts to keep yourself alive.

Honestly besides the redesign/changed look of them, I think the main reason mursaat first popped into my head was because the little hints and mentions of them throughout dry top/SW and in the LS. i feel like there were little bits and pieces if you read all the extra books and papers in some of the earlier season 2 episodes. Can’t remember exactly what off the top of my head but I know I saw it somewhere.

But they look way too different… It’s like they were made of energy or magic like the margonites.

Do you think they have somehow evolved since GW1 or it’s just an artistic redesign to suit GW2?

Or maybe ghost mursaat?

my initial reaction was that they were mursaat, but that they may have changed over time or evolved into something slightly different (especially considering they appear to be allies, but who knows). Maybe this is part of that ’Glint’s legacy’ thing that was mentioned- if that’s something separate from the egg- mursaat with some sort of heightened empathy? idk. in any case i think it’s partially a change to the mursaat and partially a redesign, perhaps.

They will be able to tell as they have logs they will know when the hacker was in your account and if he was the one banned (because of the time frame he was in there)
Just be patient with support I think they swamped with tickets took them exactly 3 days to get me unhacked pretty much all of it seemed to have be done today and it’s a tedious process that i hope I never have to face again. I couldn’t imagine how frustrating it is for them to have to go through so much data and logs everyday to fix these hacked accounts. As I was getting frustrated a little bit with all the ticket updating and replying i see now why they only give us 1 roll back a lifetime I can’t blame them as I don’t think i would go through another as a victim lol

Okay good, thanks. I wasn’t even aware of how many people got hacked at the same time until I started reading the forums. They must be unbelievably bogged down right now. I’ve never had an account stolen on anything before so my initial thoughts were that I was never getting it back, haha.

I recently had my secondary/alt account stolen and my associated email hacked into to authenticate the log ins. I’ve already submitted a ticket and am awaiting a response, but in the meantime, I have managed to change all my passwords and get my GW2 password changed. I couldn’t log into the account in the client for a few hours, but when I finally managed to log in, all I could get to was a message that said the account was banned for botting.

I am totally sure whoever stole my account WAS botting, but obviously I wasn’t. I’m concerned because the banning is permanent, but I hope that doesn’t mean it’s not salvageable? I know some games simply wipe accounts and force you to start over. I didn’t have a lot on this account, but my girlfriend uses it to play with me and she was really proud of her characters. Has anyone else had this issue and managed to get the account fully restored?

I posted this on another thread but it probably deserves to be here too-

Ideas for how to make transmuting more affordable for characters between 1-79:

-Free transmutes for pre-80s. This may not make anet money, but 95% of people are playing with level 80s at any given time. They will most likely still use charges for those characters, seeing as how transmute crystals were also a more expensive item.

-Infinite transmute charge item. Even if it was just for 1-79, I would buy this from the shop and use it.

-Return the three-charge reward to map completion/story rewards as opposed to only one. That way when I am leveling up a character, I can consistently keep them skinned as before.

-Make every armor change only cost ONE charge for characters under 80, but charge by piece for level 80s. That would still be a change because I would wait until I replaced most of a character’s gear until I transmute, but it’s still a reasonable option.

-Transmutes for characters under level 80 could cost karma/gold.

-Separate charges into two different currencies. Pre-80 (earned mainly through gameplay) and 80. Call the 80 superior transmutation charges or something. Clunky, but more like the original function.

Transmute stones vs. Transmute charges

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Idris.9351

Idris.9351

I totally agree that this is very frustrating for people who actually used their transmute stones on low level characters. I barely even use crystals/charges on level 80 characters because most of the armor I have on them just IS the item that the skin came from. I may feel more inclined to switch around THEIR gear with charges, but I feel less and less motivated to use them on low level characters. I’ve read a lot of people saying that it doesn’t matter because pre-80 goes through armor so quickly, but that’s exactly why it DOES matter. We’re talking about an item that was ONLY usable on 1-79 level gear. They basically rained from the sky as you leveled up a character. Now, not to much, at all. Charges have become a precious commodity exactly at odds with having something as convenient as a wardrobe.

Here are some various ideas for solutions:

-Free transmutes for pre-80s. This may not make them money, but 95% of people are playing with level 80s at any given time. They will most likely still use charges for those characters, seeing as how transmute crystals were also a more expensive item.

-Infinite transmute charge item. Even if it was just for 1-79, I would buy this from the shop and use it.

-Transmutes for characters under level 80 could cost karma/gold.

I know they are probably going to close this thread, but I’ve commented several times in the official one already and seeing as how we’ve heard nothing, I’d like to make my opinion as visible as possible.

I would LOVE to see the FoW armors show up sometime. I don’t know how it would work considering some of the classes didn’t exist and obviously some never made it into gw2. But even if there was no class restriction, I would totally buy the FoW armor out of the shop for my mesmer.

but not if they did it the way they did tormented weapons. i want it to actually LOOK like the original…

Midnight fire and midnight ice dyes lighter?

I just logged out for a few hours and when I logged back in, the armor on one of my characters- which was dyed with midnight ice- seemed significantly lighter than before I logged out. I logged into a few of my characters to test both midnight ice and midnight fire, and both of them seem significantly lighter and more colorful on armors that they seemed black or almost black on before. Did anyone else notice this?

“If you ask me its not cheap. With all the changes done, and like what I said a few post ago, The money that I may use to get transmutes is the same amount of money I can use to pay for Realm Reborn 60 day subs. Difference? The wardrobe skins there work way better than what happened here.”

My point exactly.

Most MMOs have a $15 a month subscription. For that, you get the whole enchilada.

You get the whole enchilada playing a free-to-play Aion. They use in-game currency for transmutation.

yeah, that and a LOT of other newer-wave MMOs have it as a feature for free/in game currency

the thing is, anything with the guild wars name on it should be the leader of that pack. the first game was practically revolutionary for allowing you to by whatever set you wanted with whatever stats. Granted it’s not the same as ‘reskinning’ exactly, but even now you can log on to GW1 and by a top-armor rating set of the starter armor with whatever stats for relatively cheap. You could salvage that set to make room and rebuy for pretty cheap as long as it wasn’t elite or FoW armor.

Now of course the wardrobe system is more complex than that- AS IT SHOULD BE, for a game that is much newer. But it really should stay in the Guild Wars tradition of stats =/= skins. This is sort of true still but it’s not exactly when there are level restrictions and rarities.

But completely free isn’t even what I’m asking for THOUGH BY ALL MEANS I WOULD TAKE IT (and still spend money in the shop on skins). I just want it to be a little more affordable for my low level alts. I want to still get three charges for clearing an area or doing a story quest. It works FINE for a level 80 character, as far as I’m concerned, the the obvious exception of town clothes and a few other buggy things. I just want to be able to have the SAME FEATURES as before on my low level characters.

Don’t know what you guys are complaining about. The transmutation system didn’t change. They didn’t suddenly want to make it a charity. They streamlined it.

And you can still equip multiple sets of armor. Those claiming you require charges to do so need to look closely at what they are doing because you certainly do not need charges to equip a different set of armor.

the price did change dramatically for people who are playing low levels alts. previously, you could keep your alts skinned the way you liked simply by playing them and clearing maps.

I’m terribly disappointed with the high cost of transmutation charges. Anet, what motivation do I have to buy and enjoy multiple sets of armor, various cool weapon skins (like Jory’s daggers, etc.) if I ALSO have to pay nearly $5 to put on one of those sets of armors?

You’ve got it all wrong. Make your money selling us nice cosmetic gear. Don’t then also try to rob our wallet to put on those various sets of gear. That should be FREE.

As it stands, I have less motivation than ever to fork over 10-ish dollars per nifty set of cosmetic gear you release. Why? Why bother?

This exactly. Why make it so fun and accessible and yet so costly? The impression I got from the early previews made it seem like customizing the look of ALL your toons on the fly was going to be super easy and (for some reason, idk why I thought this) more affordable.

In essence, I’m now paying the same price on my level 80 chars as I am on my low level alts- who for obvious reasons, need to use transmutes more often. And I know charges are more affordable than crystals, but they AREN’T more affordable than stones were, especially considering that stones often were a reward in game.

Nevermind that if there’s a cool skin I’ve unlocked, I’m now going to feel motivated to use it from my wardrobe instead of buying something with that skin from the TP- something I thought they were encouraging by making it so accessible. And I feel like many people (myself included) are going to take advantage of that convenience and in the process run themselves out of charges quickly. It seems like maybe that was something that anet was counting on- us frequently changing the look of our gear and then using the gem shop for more charges just as frequently. I’m sure they thought this was a good way to earn more money, and I am aware that they do need to earn money somehow- but I would seriously be willing to pay a $15 dollar a month fee and have unlimited charges over however much it would cost me to keep buying gems all the time. 25 charges really isn’t that many. It really really isn’t.

Possible suggestion- maybe anet could think of selling a one-time purchase unlimited charge item in the shop- maybe for 1000 gems, similar to the gathering tools. It’s not the best solution because it still requires you to spend a good amount of real world money just to do something you could for almost free before. But, it’s better than nothing…

These topics are often extremely amusing to me. Why does one need 10 characters if there are only 8 classes? Well, I guess everyone plays differently.

Not only this, but why do people even bother transmuting before 80 anyway? Rush leveling or not, you’re still changing gear often enough that it just seems a waste to me.

because what the heck else are you going to do with transmute stones as opposed to crystals?? it’s not a waste if you earned them from completing maps and used them on your alts considering they can’t be used on level 80 gear anyway

Make "Common" skins cost no charges

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Idris.9351

In reality nothing has changed when it comes to skinning your armor. Most the time you didnt use the transmutation stones because the skin you wanted was a level 80 skin or the armor you wanted was a level 80 armor both of which wouldn’t work with the transmutation stones. So you saved them up or got some crystals and waited till 80 anyway.

There are still a few free charge skins, the skins you get from your achievements are a free charge skin

You’re right that in essence not much has changed about the transmutions. But to be fair, if you got a bunch of stones from story quests/completion you’d really have no reason not to use them on low level character because it’s not like you can use them on lvl 80 gear anyway. And there are a lot of lower level versions of nicer looking gear that you could use, also.

But I think the main gripe (for me) is that it’s supposed to be this big new feature that makes customizing your look a lot easier, yet it’s still not that accessible for people that can’t/don’t want to spend real money on it and it’s also kind of less viable to use on lower level alts than it was when there were transmute stones that you could only use before you were leveled up anyway.

Another suggestion- I REALLY KINDA MISS THE PVP LOCKER. I think the wardrobe system is much better, but I kinda wanna see the stuff I DON’T have, so that I can plan out armor mixes or see ALL of what I DO have, arranged like type, without having to have that particular type of armor or weapon equipped. And I would like to have a guideline for what I had left to collect. Even if there was a button in the wardrobe that said something like ‘show all’ or ‘show only available’.

You can do this at the bank. Apparently there isn’t an NPC with this function in the PvP lobby though. I haven’t been to look, just reporting that second bit as second-hand information…

Oh awesome, I didn’t even realize! Thanks!

I know this has been said before, but I kinda sorta think we should have been getting MORE charges per stone rather than less. The reason is- I use(d) stones primarily on my alts because i have several armor sets on my main that are all set up and I don’t change them too often. I just sort of mess around and play with stuff on my alts, and not all of them are 80. So i usually had about 25 or so stones at any given time before this update that I still used, as opposed to crystals.

Leveling up an alt character usually means you know what to expect as far as low level armor and you want to cover up some of the less desirable armor skins with shinier, cooler looking stuff. This was working fine before because every time I completed an area on one of those characters, I got three stones and could play with their armor as they leveled up. But since now 3 stones = 1 charge, I can’t really play around with low level alts’ armor as much because i’ve run out of charges. It makes sense for lvl 80 characters, because you aren’t changing the way they look as frequently, because you probably already have them in good gear and you aren’t swapping it out literally every ten minutes. But part of the fun of having alts is messing with their armor and weapons and whatnot, and now even though it’s DESIGNED like I should be playing around with the wardrobe all the time, I really can’t actually use it that often.

I almost wish anet would consider the transmutation being a nominal, in game fee. I mean, the cash shop skins still cost real money, so it’s not like they’d lose out on too much. I want to be flooded with charges like I was before or i seriously would be willing to pay game money for it. Because it’s so inviting and so much fun to use, but I already buy things in the cash shop and I don’t really want to spend those gems on charges all the time.

I Gave Up On This Game Am I Wrong?

I do enjoy GW2, but for me personally the times have changed. I was 17 or 18 when GW1 came out, I played it OBSESSIVELY. I loved every aspect of it (mostly). I’ve spent countless hours on it. Now I’m 26, I have a full time job and am married. GW2 is a fun way to decompress after work, but I don’t live and breathe it like I did GW1.

I logged into GW1 yesterday and I got a little misty at it- it’s so sad to see only one district in LA, with a handful of people standing around. I got REALLY nostalgic about it- not to sound totally cheesy but GW1 felt like a ‘place’ I went to, with the great music and now sort of oldish looking graphics. I think I realized I will probably never really forgive them for abandoning GW1 the way they did- and then taking the mythology and building on it SO much that it’s WAY too far away from GW1. Maybe this setting would have been better for GW3?

When I first logged into GW2, I wanted to see good old Lion’s Arch with better graphics. I wanted my eight person parties with meticulous builds. I wanted skill capping and profession specific armors. I REALLY wanted FoW and UW and FoW armor. I wanted to see all those things UPDATED, not just left behind in GW1, and not only in GW1. I wanted to see familiar places actually LOOK like familiar places. Do you have any idea how let down I was when I first went into AC and didn’t see the big room with all the candles from pre-sear? When Yak’s Bend was totally gone?

But I’m not saying I hate GW2, it’s does bear some resemblance to GW1, however minor (a big one being reused music, which I actually like that they did). And though there are aspects that are grindy, I can still jump on and enjoy some WvW or events or dailies. But yeah, there is a feeling that GW2 just does not evoke. And the fact that they will probably never recapture that feeling makes me really sad.
