Honestly, I don’t mind it too much, I don’t prefer it but games change the leveling areas quite often, Not something new too MMOs. And I’ll keep leveling my alts since it’s one of the most enjoyable things for me : P
But I would like to know why my 29 character still can’t get normal amounts of XP in EotM.
@Talon, Is the reduced experience in EoTM intended? There have been a few threads about it but never any answer. For level 29 everyone seems to get 50-80 experience for the events.
Had the same problem along with a few others, They all said the same thing though. Once they got to 29 they got reduced XP, Been watching those posts to see if Anet says anything but no go.
Wouldn’t mind if it was intentional either, But I’d at least like to know if it was a bug or not. Considering I would prefer not to completely waste my birthday boost there if it a bug, I doubt Anet would give something to make up said lost XP.
They are so when you go underwater you don’t drown. That said, I do wish they’d just convert them to a cosmetic thing that clips though existing helms rather than an entire inventory slot that overrides helms.
Don’t think you actually drown even without it. I use to run without one for quite awhile there wasn’t any drowning. Though if it changed I wouldn’t know.
Just face the facts. This game ain’t doing well,
I’m tired of the problems.
I’ll give it until the new WoW expansion is released. In sure it’s not the developers fault and may be that they are restricted and controlled by managers or ncsoft.
So why should I suffer with them when I could play a game that’s thriving ?
Facts? lmao
The fact is, according to the NCsoft quarterly report, the game is doing well. According to both Overwolf and Raptr, the game is doing well. According to logic (since they’re hiring not firing) the game is doing well.
On what do you base your “fact”?
I’m pretty sure I just read that WoW lost 2 million subscribers in a very short period of time. That’s about a loss of 25% of their player base.
Maybe you need to do a bit of research before quoting “facts”.
Warcraft lost remotely around 800k last I checked, Not Also making more money than they were with those players. Before also trying to start to do some research, Practice what you preach.
None the less. I agree. Guild Wars is doing fine and thriving just as well. May not make as much money but in terms they’re doing well. Just hope they last for a long time
My quote was 2 million players in a relatively short period of time, not the last quarter. Not so long ago, they were at 8.3 million now they’re at 6.4 million. That’s a pretty big drop.
They lost 800 subscribes in three months. You’ll notice I said a relatively short period of time not three months. Instead of accusing me of not doing research, you should read more carefully. A relatively short period of time isn’t referring to one quarter. It’s referring to what has been a consistent downslide.
I’ll give you that, You did say relatively short time, Doesn’t mean you’re referring to quarter or longer. Could help to be more detailed unless it’s just over my head.
I honesty don’t see what playbase has anything to do with a game thriving or not. Even if a game is making more money with smaller or larger players. They’re thriving. They won’t stop thriving until they’re not longer making a profit from the costs to run the game.
Bringing up it’s declining playerbase was a moot point. However at the same time, I don’t believe Guild Wars is declining. It did, It got more people after awhile and balanced out. It’ll lose more players but it’ll still make profits, And it’ll bring more people in with new content at some point because it’s around.
Regardless. Just to annoy you a little more. Add dueling. Add it. It’s not going to kill you Vayne. : P

This would be worse than dueling. Though I am for dueling. This allows more griefing without an option to say no or stop it. At least dueling allows people to deny.
Unless you want to add a flag function, Which again can and may just make it another WvW thing in PvE zones which isn’t the point of dueling either.
I for one would like to see dueling. It was a fun little thing to do when there was nothing else to do. Disabling duel option won’t always stop annoying people as Vayne mentioned earlier, But in reality there are people like that who PvE as well. Doesn’t matter if they’re hardcore raiders, PvPers, WvWers. Won’t make a difference. Those people exist.
Two people dueling in the middle of an event to make it scale? What kind of issue is that? People do that now without dueling… Not entirely a good defense against it. It’s not like “Oh hey GW2 added dueling, Lets all go buy it!” is going to happen and we’re going to get more people. More than likely half the dueling people will do it in the sPvP zone assuming they don’t lock it out of it. Which openworld wouldn’t really be that horrible either.
Amusing to always see the argument of. This is my game, I won’t want it in MY game. When it’s also working for the same people who want dueling. It’s not YOUR game, Nor is it MY game. It’s ArenaNet’s game.
As much as I agree with the OPs post I do have to point out that you’re basically doing the same thing as posters who claim to be the majority as well, And claiming people who are fed up are the minority.
Also even though only say a thousand players are complaining on the forums compared to said millions sold, You’re leaving out the people who don’t bother posting on forums about their discontent with the game, And leaving out the people who already “quit” GW2 and switched.
As someone who is unhappy with guildwars 2, I say stick with it. People on forums will voice being unhappy while people who are happy will not for the most part. Personally I think the better half are still happy with this game.
Even if you don’t like it. Always worth coming back too see whats changed.
I personally did enjoy farming more in Guild Wars, Solo UW farm builds with my warrior for ectos.. and trying to stay alive on my 55 monk in other zones since they added more degen mobs.. Good times
Farming here feels more like a chore than it use too granted I suppose it is anyway but didn’t feel that way in GW1 least I never thought of it as one.
Never thought of it that way, Heh. Way to think of the positives! Bravo DONO.
Think there were like 3-4 common skin sets for leveling that I recall on my characters. But for the most part there are a few places to get unique sets, I’ve yet to find them but I’ve read that there are. Goodluck on your hunt though.
I started playing less when there was some bug that kept the loading screen frozen when you died in sPvP, I tried to come back during Lost Shores and Halloween events but meh.
The thought of having to grind all that ascended gear again on multiple 80s just reminds me too much of other games I’ve played. After I just finished getting them all in exotics :/
@Heehee, I can’t speak for other WoW players but I do cause well the time I’ve invested into my characters is hard to throw away, But I also play quite a few other games which generally recycle the same crap again anyway. I know some do cause well their friends are there. So I assume others social reasons from the ones that I use to play with.
Was really bummed when I noticed you couldn’t have a secondary, But Nox is correct. Too many other issues they’re focused on anyway.
Um, no. LFG, fotm and lvl are still there in the same order. That’s what’s triggering it. Just say something more different, the suggestions Kumu gave you are actually fine, it will let you continue talking in map chat.
Assuming that your logic is how the spam algorithm works, it is stupid. I change up a character to make it unique, and it still gets flagged? Kittens
Changing a character doesn’t make it unique, at all. That is to make it harder for bots to spam their messages – if not then bots would be able to spam all the time, day and night, just by changing a single character in their sentence.
Just say something different in map chat and you get unflagged, stop making such a big deal out of something so miniscule.
Technically speaking.. Bots can spam messages more than anyone else without changing a single character unfortunately.
But to OP, It is annoying I can say something 15 minutes apart in a zone and be suppressed but you really do have to change the wording more than just the level.. Like someone has mentioned above
Also forgot to add, You can relog, Or switch zones it’ll remove the filter as well.
@Liliana Moore, I’ve have that issue as well sometimes, That is when I am always forced to relog :/
Granted, I think it sucks, I only got 2 gold worth of anything but many have yet to do it at all, But it’s like comparing someone who has played the lottery for 50 years, Never won more than 100 bucks, Where as someone else played once and won billions. Small chance of dumbluck..
I understand the event is a one time event with increased rates. Well they ran the invite multiple times in fact, So no it wasn’t a one time event. It ran all day thus you had multiple chances to do it. There will be more events, There will be more things like this with increased chances just chill and wait or keep farming dragon chests like most people and use MF gear
Kinda seems a little silly to complain cause someone has gotten two precursors, As if they couldn’t get two from any other chest in the game with the dragons or otherwise. It’s just extreme luck…
Secondly, If someone has enough money to buy those precursors at that price, Then what does it matter if it goes too someone else, Obviously if people can pay that much people have that much if not more already..
Could turn off off emotes from the chat log as well. What I did anyway.
Most my guild and I are in our early 20s and most of us still enjoy this game. Some of us also skipped alot of content rushing to 80 at headstart and still all play. Some went toWoW again since most their friends still played it but none the less…
Happened to me twice today as well, Getting on my nerves and tends to be a little game breaking. Hope this issue is addressed soon.
What is going to happen to future new players when the population is settled at level 80 grounds?
Posted by: Imperial Thor.5487
Leveling another character and I rarely see people anymore, Not sure what will happen when I roll a character that I"ll have issues soloing things with. But I do see it as a concern granted things scale down or up but there are some that just don’t scale down well so it’s not soloable. More so to some skill points when some don’t know how to kite or anti kiting mobs. What will those players do?
I am hoping and holding out that it’ll get better later on.
1. Were you satisfied with the Guild Wars 2 launch and your first week of play?
Yes
2. As of today, do you think ArenaNet has done a good job of taking care of bugs,
communicating with their customer base and making most players happy?
Mostly yes, However could be better.
3. Are you still recommending Guild Wars 2 to friends?
Yes
4. If no new content has been released will you still be playing Guild Wars 2 six months from now?
Yes
5. Overall would you say Guild Wars 2 delivers as the game you envisioned it to be?
Mostly yes, I do not like the DR and it’s punishing legit players since it’s easy to get around so it becomes more of a issue to real players than it does to the bots more so to those that don’t know how to force the reset.
I concur, I would like to see some dueling to be honest. I don’t think that many will spam it to people nor do I see why dueling would affect others who isn’t involved. With the addition of dueling I don’t see why they couldn’t be able to add a decline all duels option for those who loathe it.
None the less, I enjoy dueling personally and would love to see it!
Really wish people who say people who rushed to 80 would disagree >.> Not all true.
Rushed to 80.
Two level 80s.
Both decked out
Done all dungeons Story/Explore
Still working on Exploring slowly.
sPvP has be really interested
WvW once in a blue moon but fun none the less
Spent over 500 hours so far, So I will agree completely worth it.
Hey, What about us thieves with 12k health or less lol… Eh GW1 did everyone had the same with. Wasn’t much of a fan with it I suppose there are trades to make when making the health however never got into the ele so I can’t add much :/
I am not 100% sure however I do believe the AC vendor sells those stats.. Should be the first sets. Just may want to remove the runes.
I am a dungeon fan, I enjoy running the dungeons believe it or not, I do about 5-7 explorer dungeons a day, As well level an alt and farm Orr between runs. Also slowly gearing err well crafting exotics for other guildies, I enjoy the PvP when with some buddies and I have yet to explore the world.. None the less I am still having fun but as far as asking others it is pure stupidity.
I may find dungeons fun, Where as you may not, SOmeone else may find only WvW or SPvP fun.. All these options are open to you at start. You need to ask yourself what you find the most fun and what you’ll enjoy enough to keep doing. Granted there is PvE but this is still a PvP game. I assume it always will be unless they add more dungeons in the future for harder content… For some thisi s hard enough others not so much.
I am getting 10 silver from 1 plat since if you consider making money is about the same besides selling items is different. 100 copper is 1 silver in this game, If you wanna consider the 1000 copper was 1 plat in the last it’s easier just to go by that 1000 copper was 1gold… Going by gold sellers is absurd to see the least.. You couldn’t trade Anet gems for in game money there either.
Honestly if you want to compare prices its the only way to do it imo… Gold sellers change nor is the money the same in this game. If you look at gold seller sites it’ll cost more since ArenaNet has made it harder and longer to farm the gold unlike in GW1 that I am aware of anyway so yet again another reason it’ll be cheaper there.
Also forget to mention.. Another difference which does help Darmikau – At least in GW1 we could farm the ectos to make the gear which also saved us tons of money, This game you don’t farm mats to buy the gear we just buy them… However this kinda goes back too.. Two different ways the games work…
(edited by Imperial Thor.5487)
Actually thought Darmikau was right, But afterwords, FoW armor would be considered 339g where as Cult armor is what? 107g? My math may be wrong since it’s 3 in the morning for me. But regardless.. Assuming the price for FoW armor is 1695 plat.. In GW2 10 silver is 1 plat.. If someone wishes to double check I’d recommend it.
I also never bothered with the FoW didn’t like it so can’t confirm actual costs of it either.. Loved my Primeval armor.
I love this game, Played GW1 for a long time, And planning to do the same here but I felt I needed to make a few suggestions…
Guild Halls: I would love to see guild halls again, It could even add another souce of sPvP as well, Not to mention more things to research like all the vendors that we use to have.
Fishing: I personally think this would be a neat idea considering it could provide another past time as well another way to level cooking, There are so many rivers, lakes and oceans that do not have any use besides random mobs or sometimes skillpoints.
Alliance Battles: I would love be into AB games again as well. The PvP in here can be so much more fun compared to GW1.
Guild Alliances: I actually miss this feature somewhat, Don’t particularly remember or recall a true purpose of it but it was still rather cool.
Guild vs Guild: Was just fun an another awesome type of PvP I really miss, Sure many would love to see this come back.
Ritualist type class: Was a personal favorite of mine when Factions came out. Would actually enjoy seeing this class again..
Don’t know if most of this was even covered more than likely I have missed it, But none the less these are things I would love to see again, These were some great aspects from the previous game. I could be wrong not like it would be the first time, But I am sure there are quite a few players who would also love to see some of this here.
I don’t have these problems nor have I ever logged out in rage, However I do see this same topic in the same areas, I do agree it does need tuned down some, Whether or not the player is bad or good those players are somewhat a majority and need to be kept interested otherwise this will be a game where only a couple hundred player. Maybe a couple thousand none the less not enough to keep ArenaNet satisfied enough to waste more money into a game that is slowly dying….
You people who sit there and yell GTFO to players who have issues need to take you’re own advice and just quit if the only helpful information is “QQ it’s to hard than GTFO” Or the classic “Go back to WoW”.
None the less, Felix, I would take a break and come back at a later date, I am sure eventually they’ll change some of the Orr areas for the better. It just came out and they seem to be making progress unlike some other games.
5-10 minutes if I don’t get side tracked like I often tend to do….
It boggles my mind that people can play an RPG game thinking the stats do not matter. OF COURSE STATS MATTER! If stats didn’t matter, everyone would run around naked. Player skill matters more certainly, but that doesn’t mean stats are meaningless.
I see some people here boasting that they can solo dungeons naked or whatever. If that’s true then you’re not really the type person the OP is talking about.
People have to know their own skill level and play accordingly. If you know you can wreak havoc on the monsters in a dungeon regardless of what gear you are wearing, then fine wear your MF. But if you tend to get knocked out a lot, or even if you’re just not sure how much you are able to contribute to the group, then man-up (or woman-up) and wear gear with proper stats.
Stats play some rule, But mostly it’s all from the traits. However if someone with no magic find gear is dying, It may not be the stats of the gear. If someone is going to die in two hits regardless of what stats they have why should it even matter? Allow them to make their errors and learn from it rather than bashing people who stat differently than you?
No matter what stats you are gearing you’re going to die or not die regardless. Yes, Having toughness vit stats make you last a hit or two long but if they’re taking ranged damage, Unable to dodge in time, Or just not playing smart they’re going to die regardless.
It’s like the trolls who think full exotic gear is going to make dungeons so much easier when geared as more dps or tanky they still die, Why? Cause they can’t avoid attacks.
You can do perfectly fine in dungeons wearing magic find.
If you’re getting squashed wearing magic find, you’ll get squashed wearing any other gear, because you’re standing in the bad that’s squashing you either way.
It’s this mentality that is the problem.
Not sure how that is the problem, I run in mostly magic find gear and I rarely die in dungeons besides when we have kitten pulls or people who are not to the dungeon. Gear in my opinion means little in this game.
But I assume you’re one of those people who think need need full exotics to do a explorer mode aren’t you? Just wondering.
I’ve been reading forums off and on, And what I am not getting is the hate. Granted there are some bugs, There are issues with trading post, Some people have issues with money and prices.. So lets look at this separately.
Prices on gear: Things like culture gear I’ve seen two posts about tonight. Granted the price is rather steep I’ll admit but it gives players something to do, Something to work for and wear with pride.. Stats suck but tis the reason we’re given transmutation stones. The gear with karma and dungeons yet again, It’s not suppose to be easily obtained, Nor should it.
Dungeons: They’re hard. I’ll admit that from running with people who don’t know them, And I’ve done them with people who know them pretty well. I do agree they’re semi unrewarding to players who believe zerging only works. They’re punished for this. I know it is stupid to compare WoW but since most gamers come from this it’s just easier to mention. This isn’t a game where the gear makes or breaks you, This isn’t gear check. It’s about the combination of the abilities you’re group uses and the timings depending on the situation. You can zerg of course but you’ll be punished.
End Game: There isn’t a lack of end game, You’re just not seeing it which is understandable. End game is you’re dungeons on explorer mode, Once again I hate comparing this to WoW but since most understand it better… When you did heroics and geared for raids? You did more heroics which really served no purpose (Most the time) It was a endless grind to make most people feel accomplished. Instead of ArenaNet giving you the endless grind they just give you the grind for the sets, Which are unique. If PvE doesn’t fancy you there are arena type PvP and Mass murdering slaughterfest of WvWvW.
Economy: Now this.. I completely agree with people on. The economy sucks least for me. However I will admit I could grind more for gold and craft things if I choose too but that is on me, And I do believe the trading post is a little too cheap to make much of a profit but once again, It can be done if people are willing to put the effort into it.
Overall, There are many things to do. However I think too many people are way more concerned with that they’re use too. World Of Warcraft became a big hit, Many more games attempted to copy their success with little hope. Each time a new game was released people did not like the difference, If people stayed they were introduced back into tier raiding of the never ending grind.
I think people have gotten spoiled and do want more quicker, Whether or not they got it from WoW, Or some other game I do not know but many started with WoW thus why it’s easier to compare.
This game is fantastic, Some people experience more bugs than others. Some can’t find the end game. Some just are not comfortable with the end game since it’s out of their element. I am not bashing anyone who dislikes it, Or disagrees with me but I just feel that some people are missing it. I hope this helps some folks..
tl;dr You’re missing out on a lot more than you may realize.
Personally, I enjoy this game it’s a nice pace and break from gearcheck games, Which I think is what most people are use too. When people are taken out of their element they’ll hate it.
I don’t really have any complaints but a few bugs that prevented the story from progressing, Which were fixed. They’re working hard to fix their errors which should be good enough, I don’t wish to sound cliche but I do believe that a lot of gamers over the years have gotten spoiled to easily achieved things which has been noticeable.
None the less, It’s only my opinion, Agree or disagree I think they have made a fantastic game in my eyes.
I can not say I’ve had this problem what so ever. However.. Monthly rewards are kinda lame anyway. Regardless, Hopefully there is a fix for people who want it.
i think most if not ALL people complaining about lack of “endgame” are the no-lifers who play too much.
and no game right now can deal with them.
i say they can quit.
come back later, the door will always be open.i have pity for them.
they really are the ones hurting themselves more.
and then saying the problem is the game? after like 300h in 3 weeks.anyway.
GW2 is amazing, huge, and perfectly fine for a gamer who will spend 15h a week in the game. (thats normal, right?)
I suppose I fall under this category since I do have over 300 hours, However with this said… I don’t really have any complaints about this game. I actually got more than what I expected truth be told.
Side note to this.. Too assume all hardcore gamers complain over such silliness you sir are a moron! Just as bad as hardcore gamers who claim casual gamers ruin the game.
None the less. I am quite happy with Guild Wars 2, I have not enjoyed myself in a game like this for quite awhile now. <3 ArenaNet for the great job they have done, And I shall continue to support them as much as I can.
Though, I do wish they made a better ending for story. This I will not spoil though.
I do agree with OP on this, I do feel as if the prices are way to high, Spend an average of 6s going back and forth, Not to mention if I help friends or guildies in lower level dungeons it just doesn’t seem worth it if they’re learning and messing up a lot.
With that being said, Someone who mentioned how they don’t think people who say they agree with repairs and fees for traveling may not have played GW1, I have played that one and I actually with some of the repairs and fees to teleport. It gives us something to actually spend our money on. GW1 what else was there to really use it on besides mats? Which were all useless besides the cool factor.
I’d rather see them lower the prices, Maybe distance as someone else has mentioned. And repairs to at least become cheaper in areas. But I see it being abused. So perhaps the idea of having the benefits of things being cheaper to those who have explored 100% in a zone is the best way to go about it. Just in my opinion though.
Did forget to mention, If they don’t at least lower the prices I wish they’d lower culture gear. That stuff takes forever to get from the looks of the prices
Kinda glad to see other people are having these issues too. Been unable to get people to join our guild due to not being able to represent. I’ve also gotten the “Your not in a guild” to use the bank when I clearly am.
None the less someone mentioned they saw a post they anet is aware and are working on it. Hopefully sooner then later.
