Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

The change to 250 hero points is welcomed. I started a Rev and I have Herald halfway unlocked solely through the first 2 maps. It’s a welcome change. The progress is slowing down now but I can always go back to the core game to catch up on hero points if I get desperate enough.
The difficulty I’m fine with. With Dulfy releasing a guide I was able to get guild members and ask map for help with hero point challenges and in exchange I would show them how to get to it. It was a win/win.
So far in the first map I’ve gotten 8/11 done. 3 locked behind masteries (2 if you’re a Mesmer or have help from a Mesmer).
a lv80 thief will have 13-18k health, depending on the build.
a lv80 warrior can pass the 30k health mark.
different classes, different base stats.
Actually, thieves can get as low as 10k.
you serious? i made a glass cannon build for my thief the other day, got annoyed at 13k, so i threw some points into the vitality trait to bring him up to 15k lol.
god i wish i met more thieves with 10k health. would be hilarious one-shotting them.
Not if they one shot you first with stealth. Lol.
People are way too used to gear treadmills. So ingrained because they never played anything other than that one type of game.
There is an endgame in GW2, and it’s fantastic.
Care to explain what it is? I have 100% world completion and can’t name anything else to do.
WvW, sPvP, alts, working on your legendary, playing the Trading Post, farming, dungeons, exploring further (even at 100% there is still a lot to find in the world, as I was surprised to find out).
The fantastic thing about GW2 is you have so many things you can do every time you log in. The only thing this game is missing would be the gear treadmill, which to many people is a great thing.
WvW…check, did that, got the T-shirt
sPvP/tPvP…check, did that too
working on my legendary….was excited, then I learned what a big LET DOWN it was, then I didn’t bother pumping 100’s of gold worth of things into a lottery machine. I can go to Vegas and actually get something worthwhile.
playing the TP…check, did that, made my money…got bored of this, because let’s face it, what am I spending my gold on?? Legendary? Nope…exotics??? nope…uhm……
farming dungeons….did my fair share of them, and quite personally, I don’t like the dengeon skins…
100% world completion….I actually have the stomach to choke down doing yet ‘another’ heart, or another event, or another vista, or skill point…rolls eyesNope, can’t do it. I’m done.
I don’t understand. In other games you grind out dungeons for end game gear. The mechanics are all the same. The only thing you’re not striving for in this game is an extra +10 hit points.
I don’t know why anyone is complaining. Anyone coming from GW1 or intensively followed GW2 KNEW that there wouldn’t be a gear grind. You can craft your level 80 exotics and the game stops there for you statically speaking.
They don’t need to keep you for months. It’s a buy to play game. Come back when new content gets released and let those players who enjoy the game continue playing it.
Refer a Friend’s success depends on server cap increases. Referring a friend, to then have them play on a different server than yours is pointless.
Unless they finally implement guesting – which I’m almost positive they won’t.
All cultural armor worn by sylvari gain the sylvari’s base skin color . It’s done this way so it looks as if the armor is growing out of the sylvari. You don’t see that effect much in heavy armor, but in light armor you can see it better.
Had your sylvari been blue, the tint would be blue, So in this case, if you want to correctly match your armor to your sylvari you have to dye your armor inside the same spectrum as your skin color.
So much for the engineer…
Lol, to be honest when I looked at that list I didn’t even notice engineer was missing. Rofl.
whoah whoah lehova, what’s wrong with mesmers? Reflection skill, time warp, moa form, and condition removal are all you need to justify a mesmer.
I agree. Portal is nice and all but the other necessary utilities needed for dungeons are much better.
Several pulses of condition removal > Portal
Especially considering majority of the people who DON’T die from 1HKO in dungeons usually die from left over condition damage.
Two classes I would never dungeon without (in an ideal situation or if I were to make a permanent group) would be a Guardian and Mesmer.
Guardian for tanky goodness and Mesmer because they have possibly the highest range of support utility and group utility in the game. Damage reduction to entire group, more than 1 reflection skill (including AoE), several ways to remove conditions (including AoE), and group quickness.
Plus they also do fantastic damage when specced for shattering.
50g? Considering the life time average of the item are around 200g, you’re sure you’re not a trader? :P
The average price of this item is not 200g. The Anomaly did not start appearing in the TP until, ironically, this thread was created. If you buy all the mats from the TP they will cost you less than 40 gold – then you just need 250 skill points. 100g or so (usually less) is a decent price for the skin. 220g like it was last time I checked is too overpriced.
I was to thank whoever crafted mine btw. You’re awesome.
:P I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but if someone is willing to craft more than 1 I put up an offer in the TP for 100g for the anomaly. I was gonna create my own thread but I feel it’s such a waste.
So, I’m stuck at deciding what I should get for a even split of PvE/PvP on my Mesmer. I’m full berserker with 20/20/0/0/30 shatter build. So I’m very dependent on crit damage and such.
I know this build doesn’t work well enough in WvW but in the occasional solo it works wonders. I usually PvP about 15% of the time.
Anyways, the 10% damage increase from scholar seems great because I barely go under 90% health in PvE. But the crit damage from divinity is nice, and I know ruby is great (plus the cheapest) for the pure stats…
Help? Opinions? Thoughts?
Because phantasm’s attack too slow in order to tag the mob. For tagging mobs in Orr I prefer Sword/Off hand with the trait Illusionary Persona. A mesmer with berserker’s can just mind wrack + coj every cooldown (without clones) and crit hard enough to tag.

Having an issue with the CORRUPTED SHARD dagger that has snow particle effects when wielded.
The actual particle effects don’t appear ON the weapon (like the other corrupted weapons), but rather a few pixels next to it.
Not an extreme issue but it is bothersome compared to the other weapons of it’s kind. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys would fix it so it was actually on the weapon!
