Why should they? They’re chasing the Asian market. US/EU can kitten it.
They’re just bringing us in line with the Chinese market’s expectation of gameplay.
US/EU = you’re no longer the main audience.
And I also find it disappointing that China is now driving the development of the game instead of NA/EU.
Yep, that’s one of the big reasons this game is rapidly dropping off my radar.
ni hao.
Well it could be worse, you could have gotten a precursor drop but one of the crappy ones that don’t sell for much on the TP and is a weapon type you’ll never use.
While that would function as a sort of limit, you can easily get around it by having a party, because you only need the total damage from all party members to be above the threshold. Eg. 5 players in a party; 4 just tap the champ once and leave it; the 5th does 5% of the damage = all 5 players get loot.
Except that not being forced to group was one of GW2 attractions, and now their broken code is forcing it — and it still does not ensure you get credit for your time.
Too many kitten people. Add to that the broken loot mechanics and they’ve now made GW2 a game that is “not fun.”
I wouldn’t recommend this game to my friends anymore.
No there doesn’t. There has to be some power curve or, really, whats the kitten point of levelling at all?
It’s fine as is. As stated above you can nerf yourself as you prefer, I’d rather not be nerfed more than I already am thank you very much.
With all the PvE nerfs I think Anet is trying to funnel all of us carebears into their eSports grinder (PvP). I can tolerate WvW, but the PvP scene has been and always will be toxic. Do not want.
But in a sub based MMORPG, they ask this question.
“How can we make the game better month by month so people dont leave?”
The updates are based around making the game better / more fun to play so they don’t lose subs, not adding in cancerous crap tooled to make money off people.
I hate to burst your bubble, but the grass ain’t greener there either. Take WoW for instance. I played for over 5 years, forking over $15/mo for updates that were spaced months and months apart. I think I paid about $80+ for each patch. That is terrible ROI. The only sub game that even came close to giving players their money’s worth for their subscription was Rift. Wildstar and TESO are the newest sub games to come out, but I seriously doubt they will be able to release $15 of content every month.
Why the silence?
The best way to manage an online community is to ignore it. In another week over half of you malcontents will have moved on and stopped posting. Problem solved.
This has been a problem for months and months. The solution is for them to vastly lower the dmg % done threshold for loot allocation. Otherwise they should just scrap the current broken system and go back to the standard MMO mob tagging system.
ANet considers farming to be a bad habit, they always have as long as I’ve played the game (Fall 2012). Changing events so they can’t be farmed, DR and punishingly low drop rates are just some of the other ways they punish farmers. So yes, I think the intent is absolutely to discourage farming by making events more appealing to complete.
They may think it’s a bad habit, but the game is designed to encourage it by requiring ridiculous amounts of resources. They have no one to blame but themselves.
Coming soon to a gemstore near you…
Still I love this change.
Hands down the weirdest thing I’ve been seeing in the last few years are players who love and celebrate nerfs. /facepalm
If you need to feel needed so badly, virtually every other MMO on the market uses the tired and archaic trinity system.
I’m not ragequitting. My wallet is.
It never really mattered anyway, so not a big loss. It always seemed to be one of those neat features that gets its development cut and what remained was left to die once a game launches.
One of the cool things about GW2 was that you didn’t have to group to get rewards, that you could wander into an event and participate and get the same rewards as people who are grouped. Yet it scales horribly forcing grouping at high pop. levels and even it breaks down and doesn’t appropriately reward all participants equally.
With event/boss participant populations presumably going to be larger with the “megaservers” this is only going to get worse.
The way looting rights are granted needs to seriously be reconfigured and fixed. It is absolutely no fun to whale on a champion and get nothing.
On the whole: negative.
Most of the positives have little impact on gameplay (dyes, clothes and frippery)
-10% DPS nerf.
We’re getting money nerfs to events and boss loot bags. It will be a net money drain because there is no way that “free” trait changes+armor repair will even came close to the amount of money taken from those sources of income.
Clunky megaserver rollout that is incompatible with their event system. Highly unprofessional and makes the world more static and boss hunting like a job. Not to mention destroying server communities and their homebrew events.
It’s a big step backward for Anet, and I’ll just spend more time on my oft neglected Steam Library than dealing with GW2.

I guess I better enjoy my server’s World Boss Train until the game is nerfed.
I do not like this change. No, sir, not one bit.
My lack of gem purchases will reflect this.
It’s time for the Centaur-Skritt to team up for… shinies!
^ unfortunately… called it
I saw this on Dulfy and thought this would be great for my Necro, then I saw the price increase and… NOPE.
It’ll have something to do with Scarlet.

IOJ has always had an obsession with PVE. This is why I left there last year to FA during the first WVW exodus.
They sat in tier 1 and 2 riding on the coat tails of the dedicated WVW players and left them high and dry during tough weeks. In return the WVW players left them to their PVE and went to servers that wanted to fight.
Tell us more about how all those mean and nasty PvE players hurt your fee fees and forced you into exile.
Well, I’m impressed with how IOJ has done thus far. However, I was on IOJ long enough to know its greatest weakness.

GG PVE PATCH DAY
Being vastly outnumbered every week, you really can’t blame people for opting to have fun instead of being a lol punching bag for the zerg servers.
A great alternative to a zerg would be to revert the game back a few years in MMO history where quest items and quest mobs were tapped by the first player to get them leaving you and a dozen or so others to fight it out over the next spawn.
Let me tell you it was great fun doing that!
IoJ is in a rut atm… we spend more time defending what we have than capping things in eb (even then sometimes our zerg is just too small to do anything). I mean we kind of have to, there are lone periods of time where we just dont have commanders on.
Yeah. WvW can be fun, but not when Anet throws you against two big zerg servers. Opponents near our WvW pop levels for equitable fights would make it a hell of a lot more fun.
Sorry, Anet, this is a fail.
personally I’m having a blast being constantly outnumbered.
1: I’m learning to thief with no consequence to my bank
2: I’m learning to NOT CLICK with my new mouse (Razer Naga), this one though is a little frustrating with my heals before fighting then hand spasms pressing all buttons ahaha
Took me about a week to get use to my naga hex, but now I don’t even think about it. Muscle memory ftw! XD and to the above you seph.
We would have been perfectly fine, core and se wimped out for leagues last minute after saying they were staying. So now we are all left to clean up their mess, they pushed us to silver and then they leave.Yes, we got you to silver league. Then silver league changed to include higher ranked servers. We were excited. Then it once again became a “come save bay CORE! God. Why didn’t you help us with defense? Do you even care ahout IoJ?”
We didn’t want that. I’m sorry if that’s tough to understand. For CORE to continue, we needed to move. That’s it.
Hate us all you want. But please don’t say we wimped out. We pushed hard and then the server died on us. It’s a two way street.
Well, now everyone else just needs to pick up the slack and rebuild IoJ, yet again. Just remember, YOU guys were the ones that were always on, in TS and available. The 2 (maybe 3) times I asked you for help, I always asked if you were available. If not, no sweat, its a game and we will get bay, hills, garrison whatever back. Have fun wherever you transfered, and I hope to spike you one day!
I guess when you gather most of the dedicated WvW people on one server into a guild, and then you leave you tend to kitten people off, get called wimps or sellouts. Especially when you are not a transfer guild but home grown. IoJ is probably kittened for the season unless we can pull what we have left together and get a few wins to inspire the fair-weathers to come back to WvW. Maybe we can get a queue on reset night again. Besides, what are you doing in the IoJ matchup thread, don’t you have your own matchup to worry about?
It’s very unlikely they were so thin skinned as to be so gosh darn hurt by anything typed into chat (and if it was so abusive why wasn’t it reported?). It’s very likely they simply wanted to move up to gold status and leave the trash behind.

I can understand the reliance on CORE to do a lot but that comes with having the most dedicated WvW players of the server under 1 guild, not sure who grieved you guys though but any and all help from CORE was always amazing and SE/SIC leaving doesn’t mean the server dying
I miss you guys and VIS owes me a rez still!!!!!!
We miss a lot of you as well. While SE leaving spurred a great deal, SIC was never really on our radar besides a target to kill. It wasn’t any one person, just a miasma of circumstance s. We did what was best for CORE and wich IoJ all the luck in the world!
If by "miss a lot of " means that every time the issue of the defection comes up the amount of expletives increases exponentially, then I guess you’ve got the right of it.

You ideas intrigue me and I would like to sign up for this killing business.
I would hope that the Mad King, being a narcissist, would take extreme umbrage in someone upstaging him and his holiday.
My one thought is that I’ll go from a full MF suit to a paltry 20% MF with this patch. My future gem purchases will reflect my level of happiness with this.
