It varies a lot for me , I am working on 80 # 5 – I have began using crafting more and more – its really not as expenisve as some people say IF you gather at least some of the mats yourself. I try to lvl up to 40 just from exploring, hearts, skill point challanges, DE, etc. I always max cooking and then usually lvl JC and Artisian to 300 + … its pretty fast + easy and not too expenisve. Sometimes I will even pick up Tailoring or Huntsman and get a few cheap + easy lvls from refining cloth or wood, etc.
I just kinda jump around from zone to zone … I’ll hang out in Shiver Peaks until I am sick of snow then I’ll go to Ascalon for a while and clear out some hearts + grab WP . When that gets boring I will go to Asura zones for a while and so on.
I lvl to 40, craft some, then lvl some more .. I try to at least get to 70 so I can go to Frostgorge Sound and do at least 1/2 the zone, by then I am bored of running around zones that are empty so I head back to Queensdale or other starter zones.
The one thing that has been consistant on the last 3 of my 4 lvl 80s it this -

somewhere between ~600 – 700 regular dragon coffers opened and got 2nd jade weapon ticket … hmm wonder if dropped rate increases as it gets closer to the end of the event ? 1st drop was @ about 500 coffers , 2nd one about 100 chests later.

No one is “making” you do anyting … it is a choice.
I have opened ~ 500 of the dragon coffers that dropped from reg mobs / holo mobs , I didnt buy the ones from the gem store and I didnt buy any from the TP, in fact i sold quiet a few. Anyways, last night i got a jade ticket. I would sell it if I could – none of the skins are my style
I DO however agree that it would be nice if maybe they had a “middle of the road approach” ie- you can buy the skin for 1000 gems or have mobs drop chests like this event that have a low chance to get the ticket ( not skins so people can choose the skin they want ) it would also be nice if the tickets could be sold …. I think if they made these changes EVERYONE would be happy, so people like gambling on the chests , others just want to buy it from the gem store / TP.

The Boxes, Chest, Coffers etc that they make people buy with money (i.e, you can only get RICH coffers for Cash) are imo a huge scam. The drop rates in them are still terrible. They should have other contents that the normal coffers don’t have. More minipets, different skins, etc etc. I think ArenaNet is being abit greedy with them, but people keep buying them.
See if they put stuff in those coffers that other coffers don’t have, THEN they’d be even more greedy. At least this way people who don’t spend money have a chance at weapon skins.
But everything is purely asthtetic so it wouldn’t cause an imbalance. So i think it’s fine if people want to pay for things like that
They still need to put new skins in the game for people who don’t want to pay too…because in this game, winning is getting cool looking stuff. lol
the solution to this kitteng RNG problem is simple but most players will not agree with it.
split the cash shop in 2
1 – you buy with in-game gold, and as such you have a chance at the skins with RNG.
2 – RMOT to get the skins you like, directly w/o the kitteng RNG.seeing as these skins are all cosmetic, there is no pay 2 win issue at all, but making people pay real money and still use the kitteng RNG is bad really bad.
it’s the way the CS works that is to blame for these kitteng RNG boxes.
just admit it and change the cash shop already.you need either 2 currencies for the CS or the ability to make items only purchasable with RMOT= real money only transaction

I was wondering too, with all the discussion about the “Leaked Patch Notes” I wanted to see the real notes for myself so I kept checking.
last patch the notes were posted 3 days prior if I remember correctly
Either way it is what it is – people are just anxious to see the changes because all of teh changes to traits, etc -

Last night we had a loosely organized grp of 10-15 people running around G. Fields.
Since the respawn on holo’s is about 8 min we decided to run as a zerg and call out new holo’s that popped and then wait for 30 sec or so for everyone to arrive THEN start up the projector. Its not perfect, sometimes they would die before people could tag them all so they wouldnt get full credit but I think in general everyone was getting more holo kills / loot. Later we had smaller grps of 5ish doing the same, that seemed to be ideal, the holos still die fast but there was enough time for everyone one to tag the mobs and get credit.
edit – just wondering – does actually grouping with people effect looting rights ?
For example , could a 80 warrior grp a bunch a lowbies to help them , would they be able to loot just for being in the grp or do they have to tag each mobs themselves ?
Sorry – I have very little experience grouping. ( limited play time, i like helping others , etc – i just usually solo cause of time constraints. LOL 3 80s and havent run 1 dungeon ….. soon

/agree 100% – I think all too often people forget all the best things this game AND this community (generally speaking of course) have to offer.
Is GW2 perfect – no , but honestly it is far better in many ways compared to the 10-15 other MMOs I have played in the last 15+ years. ( no one will ever beat DAOC RvR )

A podcast I was listening to today had some great ideas to encourage people to wear town clothes such as bonuses to crafting, faster travel speed, etc. They also had simular ideas for using minipets. In both cases , make the bonuses only apply in town so that they are not abused in pvp.
I like these ideas, as it is now I see little reason to actually wear town clothes unless I know i will be running around in town for an extended period of time, which doesnt happen too often. The next step would be adding some content to encourage people of all levels to gather in specific areas so that they can show off their gear and joke around / chat. So far there doesnt seem to be any specific areas people just go to hang out – like around the bank in Orgrimmar in WoW or OA hill in AO.
Maybe add a casino in each races capital or a pub or dance club … way back before it was dead in AO people would go to Reets Retreat dance club and actually host parties and raves including a live music stream
