Please submit a ticket. I’ve been back and forth with their team for a week now as I have had login server disconnects, massive spikes and drops.
I still get spikes but the disconnects to login screen have stopped (for now).

They’ll make you download Game Advisor and WinMTR to determine if there’s packet loss and such.

HUGE Lag Spikes

I was getting about 20 sec. lag spikes but I have had more issues with the login servers.

Yesterday it was constant disconnects to character select screen and getting the “cannot connect to login server” error popup in game (trying to WP or change maps puts me in an eternal loading screen) and today I can’t even login with the launcher.

Trilla and Poopadoo were both stuck for our guild last night. The NPC wouldn’t move and would appear in different positions on the map for everyone.
Couldn’t interact with the bounty to start the fight or anything. This happened last night.

XP bar is frozen at full

If your bar is full, and you’re level 80, that means your current mastery track has been completed and you need to spend mastery point(s) and then it will reset the bar and start levelling up the next tier.
The reason you’re not experiencing this in the expansion maps is because your Maguma masteries are separate than the standard Tyria masteries and your current Maguma track has not filled yet.

Check your mastery tab in your hero panel (H) and see if you need to spend a mastery point.

That short paragraph certainly made it sound like they’re removing certain incentives to play through dungeons.
It must be a small minority but not everyone has the expansion and can do raids so I hope they will improve dungeon rewards another way. I have yet to unlock all the skins (I understand it can also be done in sPvP but not everyone enjoys that game mode).

This is the first world event that all the free-to-play players get to experience. Poor people…

0 loot drops, 0 experience, 0 karma, 0 copper/silver. Mobs die quite quickly in these low zones with the zergs. It’s easy to jump into one of these events and get bronze reward or none.
You people have done great patches in the past. This feels rushed. More thought was needed.
Should have copy-pasta’d the Scarlet event and just change the Aetherblade’s for Mordrem.
The unique event tasks are nice. Please keep adding events with different objectives.

I really don’t understand the issue.

The Gem Store is not a 100% cash-only shop. You can convert gold to gems, thereby getting items without paying real money. That has always been the entire premise of GW2’s Gem Store. The items have never been exclusive to those willing to part with real cash.

And yet here they’ve introduced a way to get the items without money… and people are up in arms about it.

What’s the difference between “do an event to get an item” or “grind some gold, convert to gems, get item”?

But… there are people who HAVE had spent real money on these items. How do you not understand?
I didn’t spend real money on those items when they were in the gemstore but I can understand their displeasure about it.

Hey there,

Here are a few tidbits from the team:

  • A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
  • The goal was to make the Gem Store more like other shopping experiences, and if you think about it, there is more of that feel to it now.
  • You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
  • The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs.

So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for the information. I don’t mind the change but I do not like a base of 400 gems with so many items in the gem store under 400! If I want to pick-up a primer, key, whatever, I shouldn’t be forced to convert 75 gold (at time of posting) to 400 gems.

Very few people bought gems at smaller denominations but now you’ve (‘you’ being the company) taken that away from them. I don’t understand why they couldn’t start the conversion at the lowest possible integer. Let’s have the best of both worlds!

Okay, I never realized what they did exactly for new characters (I have mine max level already) and watching this I sat there with my jaw dropped.

I hope the developers are listening. This change is terrible for new and veteran players alike. New players will want to move on, seeing how boring the first ~20 levels will be. I can’t speak for everyone but this game wasn’t difficult to follow. Now it feels like ’baby’s first MMO’. Wow.

I use the custom soundtrack feature and there’s a ton of different songs I use.

Lots of stuff from the Chrono Cross soundtrack and FFVII Advent Children soundtrack.

Crashing due to a "Invalid Character Motion"?

I had this happen three times in a row, all within a few minutes of logging back into the game.
Twice in Cursed Shore and once in Lion’s Arch. The final crash happened on my thief when I tried to change utility skills.

Specs – Intel i5-3570k 3.4 GHz, MSI GTX 660 Ti, Windows 7 64bit, 16 GB Corsair Vegeance DDR3

Oh wow nice find.

Just chiming in two weeks after I tried the -repair in the command line. I have not had a single crash since then.
When I was reading my crash log I found some errors about missing texture or render. Figured it was trying to load something it could not find.

I used to get constant crashes on my old system but since I built my new one a year ago I rarely get them. It’s only been in the last week or two I’ve been receiving them almost every day.

My game has been crashing often and more frequently than ever before. I recently tried to load a character who exited from the Hall of Monuments back into Divinty’s Reach but the client crashed on me three times on the loading screen not to mention a crash after 10 minutes of play in non-zerging WvW.

My system specs are as shown;

Intel i5-3570k 3.40Ghz (not OC’d)
ASUS P8Z77-V Pro Mobo
16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24
MSI GeForce GTX 660 Ti (Driver 337.88)
Windows 7 64bit
OCZ Vectrex 3 128GB SSD

Any one else experiencing a lot of crashes as of late? My system doesn’t lock up – just a crash to desktop.

That may depend on what type of CPU cooler you have and the temperature of the room you’re playing in.

I use an Antec Kuhler 920 self contained liquid cooler. My CPU idles around ~30 degrees Celsius and when I play the game it runs at about 40 degrees Celsius.

HELP! custom soundtracks not working

If you right-click on your playlists and open it with notepad, you can edit the directory to where your music files are located.
When I saved my playlists, Windows Media Player saved the directory incorrectly. My mp3’s were located in ‘C:\Users\Joopy\My Documents\Guild War 2\Music\Mp3’ but WMP saving them as ‘..\..\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music\Mp3’.

See how WMP uses concise directory paths let alone completely omitting ‘My’ in Documents? Try opening up your playlists with notepad and manually inputting the correct directory paths.

They should read as this;

<media src=“C:\Users\yourusername\My Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music\Mp3\song.mp3”/>

Note ‘yourusername’ is the name of your computer user and ‘song.mp3’ is the name of the file.

I have edited my post to show a screenshot of the directory and an opened playlist file in notepad.

I used to get headaches from eye fatigue playing games on a monitor. After an hour I could really feel it.
Many people mentioned to buy Gunnar Optics but I don’t want to spend money on those and I hate wearing things on my face!
I found a free program called f.lux which adjusts the colour of your monitor depending on the time of day. Ever since I started using it I don’t suffer from headaches or eye fatigue any more.

Don’t deal with DirectSong.com. They’re thieves. There’s a thread on the next page all about them and how people never got their CD’s let alone a refund.
I put my order in on December of 2012 and now it’s February 2014 and nothing to show for it.
They’ve only replied to one of my support tickets I sent back in May 2013. I’m still trying to get something out of this as they have $37.99 of my money and I have nothing.

I hate to say it but I’d get the album through means of wink wink nudge nudge as Jeremy Soule doesn’t deserve your support.

I am struggling to complete my second legendary. I currently have Quip (due to a nice precursor drop) and working on The Predator.
The amount of karma, materials, money, map completion, skill points, WvW and so on and so forth for that many legendaries is… insane!

Just be thankful you received your discs. I ordered mine back in December of 2012 (yes, that’s right, 2012) and still have yet to receive them. I e-mailed support back in February and they notified me that they’re waiting for them to be signed. What the hell? I don’t care if they’re signed! Means nothing to me, I just want what I paid for.
Fast forward to today and I haven’t received the discs yet and I have been getting ignored. They’re not answering my e-mails.

No offence but if you’re looking for fights, small fights, there’s freakin’ sPvP! Guess what, there’s next to no siege (albeit trebuchet’s in Khylo and newb-hammer) and every one is fighting! Also no food and/or sharpening stones, no under levels and no stacks of guard leech/bloodlust.

WvW is a game with heavy emphasis on siege.

I finally got some time to clock-in some decent WvW last night in EB.

I enjoy seeing small groups and roamers as I usually run around solo lookin’ for some nice people to fight.
A thank-you goes out to the couple of NSP people who kept rushing Umber and came back with reinforcements to properly roll me over 3 or 4 times. Great sportsmanship all around and I like to see /bow upon my death. Honourable deaths against great players such as yourselves. Sorry I do not remember your guild name.

Still can't purchase gems

Have you purchased gems on the same day and tried again? That’s the error message I got once.
There is an system set in that automatically puts a limit on how many times you can purchase gems per day (I do not know the limit but it happened when I was trying to buy some costumes and armor skins off the store. Bought the 800 gem once then a few hours after tried again and got that error). It’s there in the event if someone gains access to your account and decides to go on a spending spree with any saved credit card information. You can open a ticket if that is the case and they can temporarily lift it.

If you haven’t bought gems prior and still get the message then yes, I do suggest opening a ticket. I have never been told to post here while submitting a ticket.

[Group Event] Giant Undersea Wurm

I am currently in Highland Thaw on Fireheart Rise attempting the group event ‘Pasify the lake by destroying the threat to the fishers of Hymal Gore’ which is killing a giant undersea champion wurm.

I cannot seem to select or better yet, target, the wurm! I have turned on promote skill target in the options and used AoE skills to see if the game will automatically target the wurm for me. I have tried swimming down to the base of the wurm and use guardian’s spear attacks and cannot damage the wurm let alone target it. I forgot to mention that while my mouse cursor hovers over the wurm, clicking the mouse button does not give me a target.

Can’t hit this thing!

If anything I hope Anet has a team monitoring the player base that are actually participating in SAB, & weighing in if this is part of the LS to continue with.

This is its second coming (first was in April) and it’s back because enough people played it and wanted it back!

I know you’re entitled to your own opinion but just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be back >:P

I had to suffer all of last months Crowned Pavillion/Scarlet stuff that I didn’t enjoy (one lag-fest, map screaming event was enough) but didn’t come on here saying boo!

Maybe they will only hold food, siege and traps? Not sure what exploits you’re talking about and no, I don’t want you to say them, but this hardly makes it ‘easier’ for players as I’m sure they’re keeping their inventory open already. This more or less cleans up the U.I and leaves the inventory off my screen so I can see more of the battle field.

Hi!
I have been venturing in to the world of… um… World vs World and I’ve noticed keeping my inventory open to click on consumables (food, sharpening stones, traps, siege and other yummy consumables) is a peeve of mine!
I tend to resize my inventory down to the smallest box I can force it to become and try to tuck it in one of the four already-taken-by-in-game-necessities corners! It bugs me! I have a habit of closing my inventory and always seem to need access to it when I need it most and it’s closed!

I’ve hired a team of designers, scientists, mathematicians and other different types of mathematicians to construct a WvW (can also be used in PvE, too!) tool-belt.
Simply drag and drop any consumable from your inventory into the provided slots. A single click will activate the item (or double clicks to prevent accidental clicks) and boom – you’re ready to throw down stealth traps and those lovely tree heal thingies.

I’m sure this has been suggested since day-one. I couldn’t find any thing some what related to this doo-dad.
ArenaNet, please make my wish come true. You can use this template to save time. Go on, use it! :P

Here’s a nasty one. Player before me runs out of time and the floor opens up and drops him/her. I was queued up next. I come in and the floor closes on me, causing me to not move and die from the ‘On Fire’ gambit. Died, broken armor, WP cost. Yey…

I believe a longer cool down on their ranged ‘egg’ attack is needed for 1-3 people. I managed to kill them all, by myself, but with the aid of lots of block (shield skills and tool kit 4), blind (pistol 3, grenade 3 and bomb 4) and traited with adrenal implant on my engineer.

I attempted this on my warrior while running around gathering nodes and didn’t manage that well. Broken armor and just taking too long made me just avoid it :-(

PvE: Enemies tele after being knocked back

Attempted to search the forum as I thought there would have been more people experiencing this strange bug.
As of the last major patch, I noticed that many monsters have been teleporting instantly back in front of me after using a knock-back skill (ie. flamethrower’s air blast or shield offhand skill 4 on engineer) kind of defeating the purpose of my knock-back skills.

Rather annoying since I’d like for them to be knocked back then have to run back to me instead of instantly teleporting back and smashing me in the face. I can provide video if anyone needs. Just have to render it and upload it is all

I also threw in ‘Tataku Monotachi (FFVII AC Version)’ into my boss battle music just ’cause it sounds so awesome when a big boss spawns :O

Too many times the leader has wanted to re-roll midway through, only to forget he/she started the instance kicking every one out!

It’s not just on engineers. I have the same issues on my warrior.

Only way I can get the full animation to play is to either weapon swap with the shield already drawn or gather nodes while the shield is drawn.
Simply drawing the shield only yields the spinning animation – no sword dropping.
