@Inculpatus cedo and Siliconmana, I appreciate that you’re trying to help. Look at the image posted by OP. It’s a connection issue. This probably isn’t related to the OOM crashes so many were seeing. There may be a slight performance gain with the 64 bit client, but it’s not likely to remedy the DC issue.
@OP, please, let’s keep this issue in one thread. It makes it easier for most everyone. And instead of burying one thread and other posters, we keep the issue on the front page without unnecessary bumps. I hope the fresh install alleviates the DC issue, though to use the 64 bit client, you only have to drop it (Gw2-64.exe) into your GW2 install directory (“program files\Guild Wars 2\” for example).
@Basket of Boxes, there are a number of people that have been experiencing similar issues. My issues isn’t as severe (typically, I can play for ~15 minutes before a DC), but you may want to check the thread linked above and again below.

Maybe you’ll have more luck with the suggestions in the linked thread.
This is mental. 10 disconnects in 10 minutes or less.
It’s prob a DNS issue.
Care to explain why you believe this is a DNS issue?
And for the record, I’ve swapped DNS around numerous times. I spoke with my ISP. They’re running fine – handling a few load balancing issues (prime time, soon to be updated nodes), but spinning like a top otherwise. When I’m able, I’ve run a tracert ASAP after a DC. Almost every time that I’m able to catch it, telia.net through NCsoft servers are spiking up to between 120 and 500 ms. That’s after I’ve already DCed. Typically, as I said above, I’m able to reconnect as soon as the client allows. The client, btw, handles DCs poorly. Black screen for how long? Alt-f4 shouldn’t be the only means to exit if the client has a hard time finding the login server.
At any rate, I was able to play 15 minutes today. What fun…
Yeah, reconnecting hasn’t been an issue. Motivation to reconnect, on the other hand. It seems to be telia.net for me as well. I’m coming from the SE US with a clean connection up to telia.net. This isn’t the 1st time I’ve seen issues with their service.
I was excited when the 64 bit client was released as I’ve experienced the OOM crashes since HoT launch. Now there’s this. My patience is about in tatters.
I’m experiencing similar. It doesn’t seem to be my connection as I’ve had Spotify playing, uninterrupted, during 2 DCs. Tonight I’ve seen several DCs over the course of ~3 hours. I haven’t noticed any sort of pattern and things aren’t as severe for me. Just the same…. This comes on the heels of the OOM crashes.
Still bugged. I’ve tried most if not all of the suggested fixes/work arounds. This is silly, ANet.
Edit: I found a screenshot tour. Managed to get to the end of this step. The ONLY place the hot/cold meter worked was on the very last marker. Stellar gameplay.

As I’ve posted in other threads, I’m crashing OOM every 20~90 minutes and this started with HOT. No issue such as this before HOT.
@Chuo, I like your poem. <3
Since the launch of HOT, I’m seeing OOM every 20~90 minutes, losing all progress, effort, and time on whatever map I crash out of. This most recent patch did nothing to help.
I’m seeing OOM every 20~90 minutes. This issue started with HOT. This is frustrating, to say the least. As others have pointed out, with Mega-servers, once you crash, your spot is lost. So you lose time, effort, potential rewards, and you’re often blocked from certain perks of a win, like getting the HP below Tarir. It’s not just an issue of inconvenience, this is blocking progress for some.
I’m seeing the same thing. Higher than normal average ping with frequent spikes. Skill activation is delayed by full seconds. A mob went and made sandwich while we waited on 100b to activate. The game isn’t playable in this state.
Thanks!
I’m experiencing the same issue, rollbacks and all.
Edit: Attached diag.log. Error code 7:11:3:189:101
Thanks!

Osicat! Thanks for the videos and everything you share with the community. Congrats on the subs and views!
I have not had this issue before, but since the latest patch I started to have it.
I’ve only just started having this issue and it’s always during the final phase of Breaking the Claw of Jormag event. Of the five times I’ve been affected by it, three times required that I kill the GW2 client via task manager.
I’ll try the above suggested fix/work around with my fingers crossed. Thanks!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for reminding me, loaded. I’ll have to change my dyes tonight.
Wintersday quaggan mini please! I saw the idea in another thread and I’ve become very attached to it. I’d like to gift one to my nephew. Awww.
Snowball fights, everywhere, sounds like a blast. I’d love to see a snowball toy pistol with rapid-fire (like unload but, you know, snowballs)!
I’d also love to see more posts (edit: threads) with this sort of tone. Many thanks Aerwyna, for attempting to stoke the holiday spirit!
@alcedonia — I lol’ed. If I ever group with you, I’ll be sure to equip my GS and all of my signets!
I think a few posts here prove alcedonia’s point. Warriors aren’t just damage. There isn’t a profession meant for just damage. All professions, including warrior, are able to fill multiple roles within the same build. The heal-shouts build can be powerful support and do a fair amount of damage. A shouts-banner-signet build can put down damage and offer a fair amount of support. Min-maxing, in the strictest sense, as in “I am DPS only and my gear, traits, skills apply only to that,” isn’t something that’s sustainable, in dungeons in particular, in GW2 unless you have a pretty well coordinated team.
Anyways, I’m addicted to Strifey’s videos. They make dungeons look easy and his warrior is a beast while still offering condition removal, might stacks, fury, and additional pre/crit damage to his team.

Crafted (all?) Knight’s gear, for PVE, has always been tough/pow/pre, so far as I know. Check the link below. Note the last edit date at the bottom of the page (26 November 2012). The only gear that I know of that has pow/tough/vit is Soldier’s, which we aren’t able to craft at this time.

Edit: This is the only thing I can find that isn’t soldier’s but has pow/tough/vit — http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Emerald_Pendant

I’m 7/8 with only a bit to go in Weaponsmith. I’ve enjoyed crafting and I’m sure, in time, it will grow in depth and profitability. The game is young yet!
I understand that there are probably separate teams that work on various different things in GW2. The problem is, it was said that there are only 2 people working on all of the classes. TWO!
The content designers can keep making content, but please hire more people to be completely dedicated to bug fixes / class fixes. Two is not enough.
There are two developers working on class balance, but they are not working on the bug fixes themselves. The bug fixes are most likely done by the programmers and the software developers.
I am stunned there aren’t dedicated developers for every profession.
That’s… that’s just… dumb.
Professions are the core of the game, they have to have a dedicated focus or you’re going to be doing nothing but two people putting out fires here and there and breaking everything when trying to fix one thing. There’s no cohesiveness, no actual ‘design’ possible in that situation.
Why’s this dumb? Larger teams means less efficiency and more communication required. From what I understand, there are two developers in charge of class balancing and design. In this case, it’s important for people in this team to really have a good idea of all 8 classes, instead of just one person being in charge of one class.
Also, like mentioned before, these two are mostly in charge of design/balancing of the classes. But the actual program bug fixes fall on the shoulders of programmers/software devs.
A quote from Jon.
…..There are 500 skills in this game, 480 traits, and 2 designers working on this. Even then often we are bottle necked by other issues.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/General-Patch-Discussion-merged/page/3
There really should be a dedicated person for each profession. They’re obviously overwhelmed. I personally want whoever is working on the profession actually play that profession, not just “have an idea”. I’m having a hard time accepting that 2 people balancing all 8 professions, 500+ skills and 480 traits is cutting it. Seems like it’s overwhelming for those 2 people in addition to slowing down the progress for all professions because those 2 people have to spread themselves so thin. Also, from what Jon said, I highly doubt that class balance is their only job if they’re getting tied up by other issues.

On topic — I’ve enjoyed the new content and I look forward to more.
Here’s an ANet post on salvaging:

I had a great time, especially with the final event.
The only thing I can really complain about is the culling issue. Others have done a great job in describing the chaos due to culling so I’ll just say that I hope that this is something that is either soon remedied or taken into account when designing future content.
All in all, I give the weekend a 4/5. A half point for the culling and a half point for the parts of the community that sought company in their misery. I know the community reaction is out of your hands ANet, but it’s part of the weekend and my gaming experience. Just the same, thanks for the fun and keep it coming!
