Hey i think its awesome that you took ur time listing all these sugestions and in general i agree with them alot :-) i especially like the staff aa one and the staf skill 4 being a short smoke wall.
That said i think some of these changes might be a bit to strong thinking about trickster and escapist absolution here. Both of them see alot of use on the thief as it is (well more or less) and one of the counters to thief has always been and should still be conditions imho so id leave these 2 traits alone as much i would like some more condition cleanse buffing the thief to much will always result in whining and nerfs xD.

The other thing is im pretty sure that needletrap does do bleeding so id ask u to
correct that becuase this might be awesome for developers to read and it should contain accurate information or else it will devalue the whole work u have done.

Im really glad ppl care so much for the game and thief in general to go to such an effort. Good work mate :-)

This could be a skill. Would make an incredible AoE if used with Ricochet.

Just thinking about that gets my man parts hard xD there would be alot aplication for that in trash mob scenarios and it could be used for bosses with alot of adds maybe combined with a mesmer pull…
Also imagine that in WvW tho retal counters it pretty hard i guess..
Just the thoght of an upcomming new elite spec is so exciting and deadeye has alot of potential.. Im sure anet will completly surprise us tho with something that i cant even think of atm :-)
also the cool part of the thief and its elitespec is that he has an initiative pool and no real cooldowns on weapon skills what makes it even easier to have awesome combos and synergies (we dont need every skill for dps we can have 1 or 2 dps skills on weapon and the rest utility)

I like ur proposition alot.. what i would like even more, tho its not very probable, that we get is for improv to allow 1 random utility skill to reset cooldown AFTER next use… the skill could be highlighted and it would alow some very intresting plays… also it would allow for example to use signets and afterwards get passiv effect back imideatly.. skills with multible casts such as shadow step or distracting daggers will reset after the last cast. there can only be one skill affected by improv getting it again will overwrithe the previous.
Just imagine the potential :-D Also u could plan around the reset more even tho its still random and an “improvisation”
I know its highly improbable but a man can dream :-)

Edit: Also improv NEEDS to be changed in the near future anyway because it will get weaker and weaker with every comming new elite spec and their new skilltype.

Hey im sorry for the delayed answer i reqired some testing… so far i freaking love it.. i went with the berserker rune variant tho cause i already got it set up on my engi.. In groups im regularly getting the highest dps so far coupled with good survivabilty cause of all the dodges and that all with a rotation that doesnt break my fingers and doesnt allow so much kittenups (condiengi player xD).. I really recommend this build to any thief that is intrested in endgame pve.. I even outdps the tempests alot of the time (something i did not realy expect) also vipers accended acessories and so on are relativly easy to get in the current state of the game now with the new maps so there shouldnt be much holding you back.. The only thing that i mght be missing a bit is like the swagfactor of the staff i just like the animations on that weapon alot and the feeling it gives off.. but well i still play satff in pvp so its no problem..
I hope u enjoy the build as much as i do :-)

Edit: to do the best dps make sure to use ur poisons near allies.. takes a little time to get used 2 :-)

Hey I personaly feel like you should have at least exotic sinister trinkets and maybe a sigill that gives increased condition duration b4 swapping. I will have full accendet viper tomorrow and will only then swap my build from power to condition.. I can give u some more insight when that happend. I am perticular in this way that i always want to be able to do the best dps possible if i dont mess up my play.

Ofc for dungeons or openworld you should be able to switch right away your dmg should be high enough not to feel bad and with every piece u change to viper it will slowly grow.
Im sorry I cant help you more itis kind of up to personal prefference.

Edit: As you should be well aware good players can pull raids of under ridicilous condition vale gardian can be 5 maned it can be done in all blue gear and so on so if u have a stable raid group of friends that play decent u should be totaly fine with switching right now just know that u wont be doing maximum dps

Well it got nerfed a little and is still the highest dps build in pve… ele holds the topspot for pve dmg since launch.. i dont know what u complain about.. also it is so incredibly easy to play that just any1 can pull off 40k dps with the right buffs against large hitboxes.. (salty engi main talking)

At least thief has still topspot against small hitboxes. But i guess for the large ones ele will always have the topspot..

Id also love to get the ricochet trait back.
Ricochet: (trait) Rifle and pistol shots have a 50% chance to bounce to an aditional target. increase rifle and pistol dmg by 7% (max bounces 3)

Yes that would be awesome, id also hope they would not put it on the same tier as a % dmg increase Trait so you dont have to choose between Aoe and and flat dmg but i guess thats to much to hope for :-)

Reaper is best Condi dps, it doesn’t need anything besides itself and does over 33k damage.

Well to be honest i have to disagree with you, i dont know what changed with reapers new elite but even pre patch condi engi had more then 33k dps on his own and if reaper still has only 33k he will be at least beat by engi who also brings condi dmg buff to all partymembers.
Also the good thing with condi thief IS that other ppl can scale his dmg with poison and combofields, i dought that u run raids solo as a reaper.
Ofc Reaper has it advanteges with the trash clear of epidemic but in terms of condi dps i wonder if he can hold a candle to the dmg of daredevil post patch.

I knew this would come :-D First of all the bug was fixed… second of all try that without permanent resistance and i havent seen a raidgroup yet that can keep resistance up but nice try xD

While browsing youtube i found this:

And i was wondering if thief is now the best condi class for raids.
With firefields and using the f2 thief should now be able to do over 40k dps.

As a main condi engi I was wondering if i should swap my viper gear around and start learning the condi thief. (Id certainly enjoy a break from the piano playing) And it seems to me condi daredevil might become the prefered dps for alot of raid encounters and other PvE content.

Id love to hear ur thoghts about it :-) Im not the most expirienced thief and dont really know cons/pros it might have so i ask the veterans here to enlighten me :-P

Well i have to say i love my scarlets rainbow, but if the thief is really that sniper like, i will go for the predator aswell cause it just fits better to the sniper. I guess i will have to w8 for the skillanimations.

Id love for the rifle to be played as either condi or burst with maybe even the possibility to give the thief access to burning. Also i am worried about its viability in Pve but i trust in anet last time they only messed up the scrapper in pve and I hope they learned from that mistake.
Also i love the idea going around with more reveal mechnaics and synergies in rifle play.

I d love rifle 5 to be something similar to what the mordrem have.
Charge a shot for a duration while putting a buff on target that makes it visible that he is being targetet. After charging u fire a shot that deals massiv dmg in a line and leves a line of scorched earth that deals dmg over time and aplies cripple or maybe even burn (to give the thief access to burning). this skill would make the weapon viable in pve where mobs stay in in this line and it offers outplaypotential in pvp but can still be devestating combined with something like imob and can be used for area control. My problem with ranged weapons is that they are normaly undertuned in pve cause if not they would be op in pvp

also for play potential u can use this without targeting an enemy to avoid the being targeted buff but then it will shoot to the direction u are facing and not to the targeted enemy after the charge and would be really easy to dodge if the enemy is prepared

while charging u might aswell gain revealed to counteract abuse of this skill and give it synergy with traits

in my opnion this would go a long way for the viability of the rifle in all gametypes
im looking at this in more of a balance standpoint then a lore or flavor one and i would love to hear ur thoghts

Scrapper and the Vale Guardian

I playd allmost the same build but in a little tankier variant even and it worked great. In the scrapper line i went into adaptiv armor for the free extra toughness and for rapid regeneration which gives me some nice healing with superspeed and a permaregen effect cause i have permaswiftness from my group.

These are some solid Ideas but it doesnt change the fact that the gyros are still pretty much outclassed by kits in PvE. While making them into a kit will probably as you said be overpowered but to compenstate that a little the engi would also lose the access to several toolbeltskills of the induvidual gyros.
I mean isnt it enough already that the function gyro is practicly usless in PvE do the utility skills have to be so also?

Hey fellow engineers

I just had a crazy Idea that i wana share with you.
The problem with utillity skills for the engi is that the will almost always be subpar to kits.
The same applies to the gyros. Even if their clunkyness would be fixed one would probably still run a 3 or 4 kit engi in PvE and ignore them. even if there are some niche uses for sneakgyro (dredgefractal) or bulwarks F-ability for reflect.
So i thoght why not bundle the Gyros together into a kit and call it the remote.
I would leave the sneak and the heal gyro out cuase they are fine in my opinnion. But the rest could work perfectly together in a kit.
Of course there would be the need for an autoattack for this kit and maybe combine the Blast and bullwarkgyros F-abilities together for the toolbelt skill or whatever.
I think this implemented as a kit could be really fun and it would even let us really benefit from the gyro traits without having to run with like 3 or 4 gyros wich cripples ur build alot.

I know i didnt think this through enough it is a spontainious idea i just had but i think its intressting. It would probably be way to overpowered and must be tuned carefully to be balanced.

Id really like to hear your opinnions on this topic and i know there are some very creativ and skillfull engineers out there that id really love to hear their input and ideas from.

Engi is a piano class and in my opinion it should remain as such.. this it what makes it destinct and fun.. I am afraid the more new elite-specialisations to come the more it will deviate from this path and the skillcap will be lowered more and more into mediocrity.

I love this class and I really want to help it even tho the scrapper was a little disapointing and what works better then just put ideas in the open and maybe even a dev stumbles over it.
I will not give up hope for gyro fixes and I really hope Irenio follows up on these function gyro changes (for PvE) that he hadnt had the time for so far. But this is another topic.

Scrapper PvE Build for Fractals and Raids?

I find myself to have little to none problems with swiftness in Fractals so far. My group generally provides me with it and in the rare occasion that it isnt enough i can still blast the lightning field myself and have the cooldown ready again when i need it. It just doesnt feel as comfortable as the tools line but i can live with that and i will probably get used to it.

Thx for the advice. I will defenitly try it out. My concern is tho that bosses tend to be quite tanky in Fractals 80+ and i dont know yet how good my Party can maintain the 25 stacks of vuln over a long period without me going into Heavy Armor Exploit.
If the vuln is a none issue it would be great to have the 10% increased critchance on low range wich would allow me to go for scholar runes without losing my 100% critchance. And ur right stacking vuln and weaknes on enemys is probably alot better for the party then having a flat amount of 100 power more.

In conclusion my build would look something like this:

Hey guys..

Im wondering about a Scrapper Build for Fractals and Raids.. I know that DnT`s Viper Condition build will probably be way better. And i got myself an accendet viper set already.

But i still want to try a Scrapper Zerker/assassin build for higher level PvE content and Id really like your thoghts about it.

Well i guess there are quite a few people that think runes of lyssa are gona get really viable in HoT if u look at the huge increase of buy orders in the last week or so… I have to say i remain sceptic the utility the rune brigs is great but you only get presicion as a stat as well as a very small amount of condition duration.
At the moment rune of lyssa doesnt add stability even if it is a boon so who can say if it will add qickness or resistance.. I guess we will have to see when the expansion comes out how viable it really is.. I for my self just boght a set of them so i wont be surprised by suddenly having to pay 2 or 3 gold for a rune :-)

Yes the Mantra idea gets me really hiped up :-) the engineer could be crafting the drones while channeling the mantra or something and i think it could be implemented in really intresting ways.. giving my engineer a new fun toy to play around with…

I agree with the Nerf so far… but i feel like it is unfinished work… I definitly think turrets should scale with the players stats and maybe should even be able to Crit.. an interesting way of balancing them would also be to allow them to have boons.. protection would counter some of the increased damage from crits and the new temporary invulnarability to conditions boon could counter the condition damage a little. It would be quite simple to implement and would enourage the player to think a bit more and manage boon uptime on turrets which would give the “no skill” turret engineer some skillrequirements.
I have seen alot more ideas to give turret builds a more active playstyle in the forums and i think that developers have to look over it and find out what works and what doesnt.
Im a fan of a big variety of viable builds and i think its wrong to destroy a build completely just because it didnt require a lot of skill to win against weaker enemies.
Id much rather see them increase the skillcap for turrtet builds.
