Let’s look at nearly every mmo out there raiding is what runs off the average player since new players must spend months and months getting geared to try to kill harder bosses to advance in game. Now we are seeing this in gw2 the same reason I left wow was lack of raiding group players you can’t depend on. Gw2 since heart of thorns attitude has changed it’s no longer fun to play with others. As I feared raiding plagues so many mmos with eliteism and then begans cursing in chat player arguments kicks destroyed friendships and so on it’s just a downward spiral. True a lot of these aren’t a nets fault but why antagonize these players to act in such a manner. I’ve always had issues with 10 man raid content since my normal online group of friends is 4-5 players picking up pugs always creates issues. Is this what the average players want in game though. raid content will be unreachable for new players so they will see as I saw in wow these set groups and guilds are created then no new players are accepted into them creating aurmour sand weapons that half the community can never get or have a chance at. getting. Gw2 has made a bed I’m not sure they want to sleep in they would have done far better to create 5 man content more challenging or make ascended aurmours easier to obtain for new players having over 1500 gold is required at this point just to began raiding. I’m all for challenging content but are they going about it the right way. You risk destroying the average player base let’s face it every player wants a chance at a legendary set should it only be able to those elite guilds and no one else. We have seen no new dungeons no new fractals no 2-5 man content at all in heart of thorns 90 percent of the pllayerbase does not have 10 people online to go . The main change has been a friendly mmo turning sour seemingly overnight . I just feel gw2 is taking a very dark turn.

Aside the fact that I might need some serious condi cleanse for the bleeding you’ve just inflicted onto my eyes, as any person who read the forums for 20 mins before posting(not you, obviously) knows that you need exotic armor, ascended trinkets(cost nothing) and ascended weapons(200g, not 1500). If you got 4-5 other friends, you can easily start your own raid and require whatever you want to require. No one is forcing you to do anything

If you don’t want to raid then don’t, whats the difference between now and before? Its just that Anet added raids. If you played GW before then continue doing what u did before and skip raids…

I can’t understand ur logic.

Also theres no point complaining about raids because your complaints is due to your own lack of competence to find a good party which has nothing to do with ANET.

It’s like your complaining that the average raider is a moron and too stupid to raid or you seem to always attract and find the terrible players in LFG.

If you are asking anet to address this then anet can only idiot proof the raid which means anyone can succeed any raid with any party and any players, then you’ll quit guildwars anyway because theres no challenge and a mindless grind instead breeding a gamer base of zombies.

Name one game where the devs help u get a good raid party and organize teams.

Moral of the story, if u keep complaining, the only thing anet will do is nerf the raid so scrubs can do them, when that happens, it will just be another dungeon and guild wars will once again be a game for 12 year olds.

Cake Guardian and 3rd boss are a joke.

Please don’t nerf raids and make them raiser, my team found the VG and 3rd boss to be easy enough to complete with only exotics and NO Runes (we were simulating that of the poorest players out there).

The reason why people are finding it difficult is due to laziness and lack of awareness and poor skill rotations. The raid itself and mechanics are already easy enough and the timer could be further reduced by 15 seconds.

(Our 3 revs just auto attacked with sword and it was apparently enough dps with just exotics)

Gliding issues with higher latency.

I’m not sure if the dev team has ever thought about this issue but if you are a oceanic player with 200-400 ping and you try and glide, you notice that you are always gliding under everyone else and can’t glide as far as someone with better latency.

This is caused by the latency issue of after jumping off and you hold space to deploy your glider. It does not deploy immediately, it instead adds your latency and then deploy.

This has caused me issues in getting some of the hero points or various nodes that requires a very quick deployment of the glider to be able to get to and thus I had to get Mesmer ports to these locations.

Please fix the glider issue by detecting spacing being held pre-emptively and have glider deploy immediately.

Raids is next week, however, it’s been proven time and again that ArenaNet can make amazing PvE and well as painfully bad PvE design.

So I’m making a quick list of things I don’t (and I’m sure many others) don’t want to see.


2. Only 1 chest per boss/event/room.
What’s wrong with 1 chest? Nothing, but it hinders design. If you want players to take the challenge to the next level, give them next level challenges. Reward those groups that are effective and are at their absolute best.

Beat this boss in just 5 minutes?! Well, that bolds a 3 chest rewards. Tripling the chance at those rare items.

This is where you can apply those stat checks or add even extra challenge. You could run through this trap filled room with your team, or you could do it naked with your team.


4. Stupid boss mechanics that makes no sense.
Remember the Vale Guardian? It wasn’t bad but brings up so many bad designs. First off, you needed 5 players to stand on a circle that randomly spawns around to prevent a whip.
Okay, so, what the kitten? Why does the Vale Guardian have that? Who is casting it? Why does it require 5 people? Why does the key to his defeat just randomly appears?

Just like Mai Trin, she is technically unbeatable, but she has a friend that holds to key to her defeat.

This is what you call, stupid mechanics. Why not have players beat Horis, take his cannon and shoot Mai Trin, reducing her shield?

Why not have an artifact that you drag around to protect you in the Vale Guardian fight? Players that pick it up or drop it, till provide the AoE safe shield that requires 5 players to stand in. But it’s not so simple, while it does provide a shield, picking it up will slowly kill the holder. Not only that, the artifact will lose it’s protective charges the longer it is not held. Meaning that you HAVE to keep it held as much as possible meaning that you cannot just leave it laying around.

The lesson: If it seems dumb in design, it probably is dumb design. Put some extra thought into it.


Your point 2 contradicts point 1 in the sense that if beating the boss faster grants u more chests and raids are on a one WEEK cool down, why would anyone roll with a lower than max DPS party and get 1 chest when they can lfg a max dps party aiming for 3 chests?

Increasing rewards for faster kills is almost the same as a dps check coz people are greedy and u have a 1 week cd for raids thus makes no sense to get 1 chest a week instead of 3.

The mechanic u talked bout for M Trin, if ur party defeats Horrick and uses his cannon, then the next phase of when horrick is “unleashing” his cannon and party needs to dodge is automatically nerfed making the encounter too easy.

Dps checks should and always will be apart of games.

I am totally fine with a DPS check and here is why…. if the dps of the group is not pulling their weight then we need to know about it. You cant go into battle with pool noodle and expect to be effective.

here is what GW2 does not. DPS meter leetness to call out players. the failure of a group is be pinned on the group not performing. Not just a few players. Everyone should be expected to pitch in and push what ever they can.

We should have a way to check DPS. If you are running healing power when you should be running dps specs we should know about it.

Although I like leetness and DPS meters, having this will make certain classes redundant, everyone to roll the most op dps class and how are you going to measure the effectiveness of supporting classes such as PS warrior and Choronomancer?

I.E As PS war, my dps is lower than say Condi Eng but I give group 25 stacks of might which is not added to my dps meter.

Is there any way I can get my ascended earring rolled back? I had no idea what “Unique” meant so I bought a second one for 12 guild commendations and 5g but I can’t equip it or do anything with it! Please help!

Hi, I’m wandering which daggers/scepter to buy for max dps,

Power Prec Crit Dmg or Power Prec Conditional Dmg.

I’m asking because Prec = Crit chance and viability of Crit Dmg is directly proportional to Crit Chance so I have the feeling that they should be both stacked or leave both alone?

Conditional dmg cannot crit thus renders precision useless, on top of that, I don’t think power adds any dps to conditional dmg either so you are trying to say that Conditional dmg alone can out dps Precision Crit dmg Power stacked glass cannon.

In addition to that, when you are soloing you can stack bleeds to 25 which maximizes your dps but in a group, any other class who also has bleeds is directly losing out on dps due to stacks already been at max (25) which is another reason why I don’t like conditional dmg.

Um my meteor shower rock does 5k crits so 3 rocks and I already out dps your entire eruption including the full tick duration lol… Lava Font does 3k crits and ticks very quick, fireball does about 3.5k crits.

I think you are under geared or something if your meteor shower’s rocks are only doing 1k per rock.

Staff earth can’t even get up to 25 stacks of bleed so I really don’t see how you are going to out dps any other class that can stack 25 stacks of bleed and sustain it.

I also fail to see how eruption can out dps Fireball + Lava Font + burning + Meteor Shower whenever its up, earth is just bleeding…

How's the DPS for elementalist? Best? Mid-range?

The game rewards you for being up close in melee range so melee classes deal more dmg.

Ranged dps wise ele in PvE is about as good as any other class 1v1, but excels in aoe dmg.

Usually in group pve you kite a circle around the mob/boss rather than kiting back in a straight line so everyone’s aoe hits.

I find that with my arcane shield and evasive maneuvers + burning retreat is enough to keep my alive if I’ve done that particular boss before and remember all his/her skill animations.

Although there are some highly mobile bosses around which you may favor D/D, S/D however requires just as less movement from mob/bosses as staff. Also don’t forget that staff aoe radius (meteor shower in particular has enormous range) your allies or you can slow/root the mob/boss while in the radius of your aoe attacks and most of them will hit without much trouble.

Dragon’s tooth is your primary damage and that skill takes forever to land, burning touch is absolutely a pain in thekitten because there is no range indicator in this game and whether you are too far or not, pushing it will activate it regardless, your toon does not run into range to cast it. In addition, trying to cast that on a moving target is quite difficult as you’d have to predict the mob’s movement, run in front of it, then cast it for it to successfully hit.

D/D’s terrible range makes your dps insanely inconsistent as you are constantly having to be in minimal range of mobs/boss and whats worse is that when you are casting a channel skill, you cannot do anything else simultaneously thusly reducing your dps significantly.
I think it is important to remember that for every second you cannot be in range of the mob/boss you are losing out on dps using D/D which is actually quite a significant amount.
The staff’s auto attack is slower but it is aoe and it hits a lot harder than the auto attacks of dagger and sceptre which balances it out, in addition, staff has the most range.

I’m only talking about group pve and dungeons since I don’t solo pve content, didn’t buy an mmo game to play alone.

I know staff isn’t good solo but in any group situation its far superior than any other weapon combinations aoe or not, in addition, the indirect survivability bonus of not needing to go close to an opponent greatly out favors all other weapon combinations.

Bleeding damage can be stacked by other members of the group, burning can be kept up 24/7 with a staff, thats pretty much all the conditional dmg an ele has so I greatly favor direct dmg over conditional.

As a lvl 80 ele with decked out exotics inc full exotic wpn sets focusing on power precision crit % dmg I’m wandering why people bother with other weapon sets besides the staff.

Staff seems to have the highest aoe dmg, highest single target dmg, highest consistent dps, highest delay burst, most utility and most combo fields.

Now I’ll ignore utility and combo fields since it is obvious staff excels in those areas but what a lot of people seem disagree with is that staff has the highest dps as well.

I’m only taking about dungeons here, not soloing out in the world etc…

The reason why dps with the staff is so high is because staff is the only weapon that allows for multiple stack able attacks simultaneously i.e Meteor shower + Lava font up while auto attacking.

I’m going to leave burning and elemental storm aside because all weapons allows for them. However, as you can see staff greatly outperforms other weapons because with all other weapons you can really only use one skill at a time, there is no attacks that repeatedly occur while you are allowed to auto attack like you can with the staff.

Basically what I’m seeing on my screen with a staff in CoF or any other dungeon is something like,

4.5k Meteor shower ticks with 600 Elemental storm ticks with 3.8k Lava front with bursts with flame burst burning ticks with greater fire elemental attacks and my own auto attacks, added together gives roughly somewhat almost 12k dmg if everything crits (52% crit rate 82% crit dmg).

While the fire skills are on CD, switch to earth for eruption + shock wave and put up magnetic field then run into projectiles for added dps, switch over to air and put up static field for the combo field and shoot a lightning surge, switch to water to heal up then back to fire and repeat.

Or simply stay fire and continue Lava font, flame burst & auto attack until meteor shower etc… is off CD

From what I see staff is superior in all aspects and theres no need to use any other weapon combos in group PvE.
