Thanks for the insight fellas.
I ran the new AC (all paths) a few times with the glass build, and had some contrasting experiences. The first few runs it was cake. Our DPS was fantastic and we breezed through paths 2 and 3 with almost no deaths or issues.
Then, with a new group, it felt much, much different going through the same areas. I attracted aggro more, had to back off and use rifle more, rez other people, etc. I also died more. Just felt sloppy. These were PUGs, so to be expected, I suppose.
I did one fractal run and glass felt fine, but it was lvl 1 so, yeah.
I’ll grab a longbow and try it out today. Sounds like it could be a pretty nice weapon to have on hand, if not equipped all the time.
Hey all – I’m settling into my Warrior and will likely make this profession my main, but have a few questions.
I was using Yojack’s build for some time, and I loved the tanky/support quality of it, but the damage was just slow and painful and I felt kitten in situations when bleed was capped at 25.
So, I’ve just switched to a GS berseker build. All my traits boost damage or damage utility in some way, and I am now mowing things down WAY faster than I was using sword/warhorn.
Now to my questions:
1) Is this type of glass cannon GS berserker build viable for dungeons and fractals?
2) Which is a better 2nd weapon for a GS build – longbow or rifle? I’ve always used rifle, but just wondering.
Thanks!
I was watching my wife play Tomb Raider on her PC the other day (her desk is behind mine) and got a little too absorbed, because when I turned around my character was dead at the bottom of a cliff.

Same bug here. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Throw me in with the disappointed with ArenaNet group.
I don’t think the folks at ANet are dim, so I’m assuming they’d expect a pretty significant push back against a new tier of gear. Yet, they did it anyway. That says to me that they are willing to sacrifice the support of many GW2 fans who love the (up till now) non-treadmill approach to gain an influx of players (fans of the pro gear treadmill approach).
Nobody likes a bait and switch and this definitely feels like one.
Yup, to those who say “it’s not night capping,” yes, it is night capping – at least for people on US servers. The difference in time zones across the US just isn’t that large.
Why are EU folks even allowed to create characters on North American servers (or vice versa)?
I don’t want to spend my own money. It’s hard enough to get money in this game, why make us spend more on things that could just be obliterated overnight?
Why not have you earn a WvW form of currency from participating, and use that for building/upgrading? That way you put in the time, you get rewarded by able to build more stuff?
Just want to add my thanks for posting this build, Yojack.
I’d been running full signet greatsword for leveling, WvW, everything. It was ok, but nothing special.
I’ve just specced into this (only lvl 60 currently) and everything is about 1000% more fun! Running around in PvE is amazing due to speed buff and everything is dps’d down just as fast as with greatsword! I’m shocked.
Also, just tried WvW for 10 minutes – a large group had be sieging a castle for an hour, and they kept getting pushed back. I’m not saying my presence was the reason we ended up getting the castle in 10 minutes, but I was running around, buffing everyone, not getting even close to getting killed myself. I felt very tanky, yet had good pressure due to bleeds. Rezzing folks seemed easier/quicker too.
I’m in love with Warrior all over again!
The issue seems to have been totally cleared up for my female norn warrior. I’m shocked that nobody has said this yet but, thanks guys and gals over at ArenaNet for jumping on this and clearing it up so quickly!
I saw this reported as fixed in the 18th update. Haven’t been able to play in a few days – can anyone confirm if this has indeed been fixed?
Just want to post that this is happening on my character as well – female Norn. You are definitely on to something there with the only females thing.
Putting off doing any personal story quests or story dungeons until it’s fixed.
Starting at about level 26, my personal story cutscenes are randomly not playing the voice overs. The character who is supposed to be speaking just stands still and the text of what they should be saying displays on the screen.
It usually happens for one line, and then works fine again for a few, and then cuts out again. It’s happened in every story quest since the mid 20s.
I’m a Norn and I’ve chosen Order of Whispers. I don’t know all the quest names, but I’ve mostly been choosing Whispers quests.
Note: When I log out and replay the same cutscene for the quest, the exact same lines of dialog fail to play. It’s not random, it’s very consistent.
Also, I’ve played through a bit of the Sylvari, Charr and Human personal story lines, and have never had this problem.
EDIT: Looks like a lot of others are having this problem. Seems it started after the Sept. 14th patch, which makes sense because I’ve been playing my Norn more recently.

From the wiki:
“In matters of childbirth and early development, little is known outside of the knowledge that asura give live birth in the same manner as humans.”
So… their physiology isn’t exactly the same EVERYWHERE.
It’s a shame to read Guru today.
After hearing Mike/AN is looking to re-align servers by leaving it to the community itself to sort out server imbalances, there are 5 guilds publicly announcing they are moving – but not to low pop servers – they are moving to the top servers, ones that already have large queues.
These are just the ones announcing it on forums, how many are just doing it without telling anyone.
We are a few weeks in and at this rate the game is going to take a serious hit – people will stop playing if they have empty W3 and cannot be competitive/have fun – at the other end people will leave as they will not endure 3-6 hour queues.
ArenaNet has to sort this out – it will not be done by the community until they are confident AN has put in place things that will protect them if/when they make any choices to move.
Lock servers with queues of more than 30minutes.
All new players / guilds / tfrs coming to the game can then only go-to low pop servers, this will help them get people into W3 and start to make it more fun.
Guilds will start to tfr knowing they will not just find themselves with 3-6 hour queues again few weeks down the line if they choose to tfr.
The servers that maintain high queues will lose players to attrition and tfrs and in time their queues will come down to manageable levels.
But it needs AN to stop tfrs/lock servers – if you had done this a week after realease we would not be in this mess, and we would have all the servers sat at healthy populations….
If something is not done soon – well read about those already bored with the choice of empty W3 losing all the time / and those with up-to 6hour queues and tell me the future looks rosy.
I thought the servers were locked? My bro tried to get into my world (Crystal Desert) twice in the past week and was unable due to it being full.
I don’t think anything needs to be done to reduce queues. Everybody wants to flock to the winning team, but there are hard caps on the number people that can play at once. If you don’t want to wait hours and hours, change Worlds, simple as that.
Guilds will get tired of the queues, transfer, then boost the WvWvW rank of lower pop servers. This will help increase parity among Worlds, and that can only be a good thing in the long run.
Great news! I’m looking forward to the longer matches.

in WvW

I was in that WvW for a few and left because the fun had been sucked out by the hacking (what’s the point, right?) I hope this ban happens swiftly.
Hear hear! I support this idea of a quiver! My Sylvari keeps reaching behind her back and pulling arrows out of thin air. No more!
Because of how badkitten they look of course + Because they’re so big, their armor is big making Charr look Chuck Norris level badkitten
You rolled a charr because of how “badkitten” they are. The forum auto censor just brought your post to a whole different level of awesome.
No no no no. Please don’t nerf this quest. I did this as a Ranger choosing the Priory method (fight Mazdak in his tomb) and had to use the sword. This was one my favorite personal story quests due to the challenge. I was kiting him around, using pillars to LOS, using all skills offered by the sword and still barely got him.
All in all, a very fun and memorable quest.
Is there a good guide out there to explain the various aspects of WvWvW? (things like orbs, npcs in the center lake and how to ally with them, siege weapon types, etc)
So are you saying you have to play a utility role in WvW if you are a warrior?
I think you should leave it up to the person and what play style they prefer. If someone is tearing foes apart with a 5 signet build in PvP, then I’ll gladly have them on my team. Some people will spec more for survivability or utility, and I’ll want those people too.
