first weapon “skill” is an auto-attack and work excalty like the space bar in Guild Wars.
Grenades kit is the only exception.

GW2 combat is face paced but fights are constantly interrupted by controls, stealth and movements skills.

Passives are certainly not helping for the show aswell.

But for the viewer i think the main issue is the absence of body block . Melee fights look messy when both players are on the exact same spot trying to stay on the “skill cancelling zone” of each others.

it’s a shame cause combat animations are among the best i’ve seen and
they can fix it just by enabling the melee assist option for everyone in pvp.

Gw2 is great for pve and barbie stuff but like most others rpg i’ve tried, it turned to be a brainless spamming fest with no concern at all about coherence. Seem like Guild War is still the only exception in term of rpg pvp.

Very low risk / high reward, class was obvioulsy designed as a first step in pvp.

The day they will bring back body block and energy management.

Until then we’re screwed with a dodge and spam gameplay where peeps going through each others to cancel skills.

The most boring class to fight (WvW only)?

My fights against thief in 1 vs 1 are always boring, irritating, insipid, unpleasant and annoying. I play enginner and yes, i know the drill to deal with them but i won’t switch my support build only to deal with a design eccentricity so i run to the nearest tower.

Anyway it’s not pvp against thief, they can’t lose : No exp, wxp, drop, nothing… They run away as soon as they get in troubles.

By far the the worst pvp experience in all mmo i’ve played.

“AoE Cap making GW2 a Zerg Game”

Aoe is not the only reason. Players not sharing exp, karma, drop and wxp in the same zone is another. Gates melting in 15 sec and amount of supply needed to build sieges too. Far away tower paying the same amount of points as the one next to border wp as well. And of course the efficiency of running in large group for offense/defense.

There are many ways to at least try to split server forces but i think all Anet team is currently busy designing the next JP so…

I was a pvper in gw but not in gw2 cause fighting the invisible man is fun as cleaning a cat litter and camera need a serious rework.

build crafting, second profession, body blocking, e-management, mesmer, ranger and 4 pvp instance : all in the first chapter

But anyways, reasons why they added/removed/tweaked things in gw2 are irrelevant to the discussion.

Problem is Arenanet pretending most gw features are in gw2 to sell the game to guild wars players.

In my opinion

GW2 graphics and soundtrack are true masterwork, but being pulled in here by some marketing tricks and wake up in a game with:

- no build crafting
- no second profession
- no body block
- no energy management
- AOE cap
- Stealth (bleh)
- no counter to stealth (double bleh)
- stealth with no counter in a game suffering from culling problems (huge bleh)
- mesmer, one of the most original class in gw1 turned into a crude pet spammer
- ranger stuck with a kittened pet
- skills lag, culling
- lack of optimization (you need a kitten good pc to run the game smoothly)
- only 2 pvp mode with one affected by gear treadmills

So yeah… just bleh.

Ascended stuff in WvW by the end of March.

WwWer paid the same price as every pvers in this game.

No flowers harversting or 6 yo kids stuff like that…

You fight : you get the gears.

At least, it give us some clues on the current state of mind of Arenanet.

GW2 is a pve-centric game : most pvpers already left.

Pvers are not the one to blame.

Armors, Insignias and runes. That’s it. All the rest is pve related and was solely designed for scripts farmers.

So 40k bill at worst, sell zKeys/amber/jadeite = 10 hrs of pvp if you were bad like me

Pvped with same gears in all instances until gw2 came out.

No vertical progression there, sorry.

Getting my first ascended item is a one year project with my current playtime and the way im using it in-game (3-4 laurels/month).

So, between the 2 months to get an exotic set and the 12 years for a full ascended gear, something went very very wrong with Arenanet.

Meh, I think those saying ’’casual have no longer business in gw2" are correct.

No need to pay 50 buck to be outgeared, any Korean f2p grinder will do the trick.
