Yeah, I bought a copy for myself and for my wife. I really wish that I had my $100 back. And to think, all of this grind is (in my opinion) anet trying to make a $20 expansion seem like it has enough content to justify the $50 price tag.

So I ran around HoT maps with my ranger, looking for pets. I ran into a few skill challenges and for the most part you need a group to complete them. Right now thats fine as people are running around like mad grinding them out, but what happens when that slackens. Are we supposed to beg in map chat for help with simple hero challenges. This is worse than I had feared. Really, what were you people thinking? Take away the excellent art team and this game is nothing, because if this game wasnt as pretty as it is, more and more people would be leaving.

One of the attractions of HoT for me was being able to run my new elite spec through the new content. Now you are saying that I have to complete the whole of the content before I can unlock the spec fully? So I have to run a kitten toon through most of the new content if I want to use one of the new weapons for my toon? You were smart (and shady) to announce this AFTER you did the pre-order.
Are you offering refunds on the pre-orders? I may just go play another game.
Silverwastes are a much better way to make gold than WB by far, IMO. The only world boss that I do at reset is Teq, as I want the ascended weapon from Teq’s horde. I always feel sorry for the people I see doing the WB circuit.
Please, Please…… It would make playing old zones so new again….
To me it looks like my ranger is holding a hammer, not a staff. I also dont like the auto cast animation. What would be great at some point is a choice between 2 sets of animations.
I thought that getting through mobs in BWE2 was a bit tedious. On the other hand, the difficulty may be better bumped up a touch from what it is now.
Hammer is really cool but the auto attack -at least- needs a damage increase. I found that I had little reason to take hammer over pistol/pistol in pve, especially since I run conditions. Also, the channeled skills on hemmer seemed a bit short.
We have weeks of nothing that could have been filled by the Haloween event.
Halloween is around the 31th October
to celebrate it in august/sept had been just weird
Yeah….. I meant the weeks ahead. It will be October soon. Perhaps they could have started it on the 1st or the 15th, something like that.
Why would they do that? We have weeks of nothing that could have been filled by the Haloween event. Now players have to choose between it and HoT. I’ll be playing Halloween every day, not HoT.
Shiro used twin katana not sword and dagger so maybe twin swords plau sword/dagger will be options? certainly sounds like a fun addition to the revenants already interesting set up.
Didn’t he use 2 daggers? The weapons he used looked a lot like the greem item Shiro’s Daggers.
It seems like if it takes more than minimal effort (and wont make them money) they are not adding it to the game.
This makes me think that I will wait awhile before buying HoT, if ever. If the content is balanced for ascended gear then I probably wont get it. I do have a full set of ascended armor and a few weapons, but I also have many alts who would be kitten needlessly in that scenario.
if i can give my 50cent to the discussion:
why not to introduce a “channel system” like many other games?
I mean megaserver i great but why not to add a list of avaiable servers with the current population inside?
Something like:
(megaserver name not showed but i listed them to show how do i think the system should work)
channel 1 = megaserver X = high population
channel 2 = megaserver Y = low population (you will probably be here)
channel 3 = megaserver Z = full
channel 4 = no megaserver -> avaiable at creation
…doing so you can always see the “best” server or you can simply organize events simply saying: “all come on channel 2!”
that’s all
Maybe things like that dont happen in GW2 because LS is designed to make maximum money for minimal effort?
This way, people who like to be ranged will not be yelled at in dungeons. If a player is not in a party, perhaps his/her boons will apply to the 4 closest allies not in party.
Please put it back in the gem store. I need one for my guardian. TY
Because, Im getting tired of tools saying “for grape justice” in chat, thinking that they are being witty. That got old a year and a half ago. TY
I agree that I would like my Book of Secrets to be unlocked in the wardrobe.
Would it be possible to get an account bound item vendor, so that players dont have to keep switching items between toons via storage. It would especially be great for things like the BL harvesting tools. I would buy a set, but haven’t yet because I switch toons so often during the day it would make it a pain.
This is exactly how I saw the LS1. Unfortunately, it was supposed to be serious on anet’s part.
Well, they went half way to copying the great LOTRO wardrobe system. They might as well go all the way and do themselves a huge favor. Charging for a trans charge each time we want to change our look is only going to make players stop using the wardrobe. If anet thinks that this is going to be a new cash cow (as it is obvious that they are thinking just that)….. I dont see how it will work. Anyway, I was going to drop some cash in the shop, but after what they did to town clothes… nah.
I would like the option to equip these as well.
A couple of new types of monsters in an old zone and some new achievements does not equal new content for me. Its just busy work to tide you over until more busy work comes out. I dont understand how a lot of you cant see that LS is just anet’s way of milking the players for money for minimal effort. Ill bet that there is most of an expansion already made, they are just waiting for the cash shop to dry up a bit before they announce it.
Well it looks like anet really hit the gaming lottery with all of the people who are actually against getting new continents added to the game. Why should we want a new continent with interesting new lore and people with new customs and traditions? Why should we want more variety of enemies to fight and new skins and skills? Why do some of you want a game that is quickly going stagnant? I would love to see how WOW or some of the other mmo’s would have fared after a couple of years if their only new (if you can really call it) content, is a couple of new features added to the same tired zones over and over.
Sadly, I am less addicted to GW2 than almost any other MMO that I have ever played. I would come back full time, -and probably spend some money in gemstore- if they would release an expansion though.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The art team is the soul of GW1 and 2. They created the world and rendered the character looks and movements. The design and balance devs like to pat themselves on the back over this game, but all that they have done is mess it up.
Because they deliberately balanced the game and the story around the five races we have now. They’ve said (I forgot where) that new races are pretty much at the very bottom of the list of what they plan to implement. New professions are slightly higher on the list, but still pretty much certain not to happen.
They balance the game around PVP not the 5 races. The racial skills are so weak they would never throw balance out of whack.
I will not be buying any further GW games.
I have to agree that this years event feels kind of like a gutted version of last years. I would get excited about opening chests in the labyrinth, but now its just garbage after garbage. The only reason to be in there (for me) is leveling a toon with the events. Maybe they can still pull this off with the next update…..
If they begin to balance the game for ascended gear, I’m outa here. A lot of people that I know will be too.
The Tengu do not need to be from Cantha (though I want to see that expansion too). There were Tengu in Prophesies before Factions was released.
It was most surely toned down. Before the liquid karma came into play, I would get an extra item along with my coin half the time. Now, Im lucky to get one 10% of the time.
Investigation process?!
What a waste of time and resources…You don’t know enough about how they spend their time or resources to make that call.
Yes we do know how they spend their time. They play Xbox and ping pong. There was a whole story about it on their homepage during beta.
They wont make much money on cosmetics if town clothes continues to work the way that they do. People arent bothering to switch to TC in cities. Why pay cash for something that you wont bother using.
The scary thing about this thread is… these are the same excuses, I mean answers, that many of the player base gave when the SWTOR servers started dying.
One of the nice things about GW1 was that you were never left behind. Now with gw2, if I dont grind this new gear (and do it soon) It will soon be too late to catch up. Once a new expansion comes out……. I honestly wish I never picked the game up.
I havent received a drop from a champion yet. They probably added it to the patch notes to tempt people to buy the game, who were on the fence after reading how bad things are on the forums.
I got tired of catching up gear wise over and over in other games. Im tired of getting tired of it, if you know what I mean. I will be playing less and spending less (meaning noting) in the cash shop.
I too bought this game under the impression that once I obtained my gear I would not have to grind for more, like in gw1. Unfortunately, if they think that this small bandaid will bring back the hordes of people who left the game (most of them Im sure not because of lack of gear progression), they are wrong. Its a pity that they are now going to drive off many many of their loyal players who actually stayed. Anet, if you want to fix something….. give us a descent cosmetics system. You seem to like copying LOTRO lately, so give us their excellent cosmetics system, because town clothes…….. it just isnt working.
